      Barolo Lazzarito DOCG 2016 · 6 Flaschen in Original-Holzkiste

SUPERIORE.DE

"Very complex aromas of dried strawberries, fresh mushrooms and some sour cherries. It’s full-bodied, yet tight and extremely tannic, yet ever so fine and polished. Wonderful length. Strength with finesse for a young Barolo." James Suckling

"Although this leading producer changed ownership in 2016, the winemaking team remains unaltered. Most of its Barolos come from Castiglione Falletto, but the estate also makes Lazzarito from Serralunga, a wine aged in barriques as well as casks. The nose shows reserved red fruits and is lightly perfumed. Dense and very concentrated, it packs a punch with its hefty but ripe tannins. Assertive and very youthful, this is built to last and has impressive drive on the very long finish." Decanter

"The 2016 Barolo Lazzarito is another stunning wine in this range. The 2016 is the first vintage of the Lazzarito I can remember tasting in which intensely mineral notes accompany the more savory, earthy notes that are so typical of this site. Graphite, sage, dried flowers, crushed rocks, menthol, dried rose petal, mint, licorice and blood orange race out of the glass in a breathtaking, towering Barolo that hits all the right notes from the start to its chiseled, strikingly detailed finish. The 2016 Lazzarito is one of the most classically austere wines in this range. In a word: Magnificent." Vinous

"Drawing its fruit from Serralunga d'Alba, the Vietti 2016 Barolo Lazzarito is built like a pyramid. It is grounded by a thick base of robust fruit and power and soars upward in intensity thanks to its beautifully lifted bouquet. It reveals direct and solid lines with blackberry, plum, spice, tar, licorice, candied orange peel and truffle-infused earth. A second wave of aromas offers dark minerals and ferrous qualities such as iron ore and rust. Baroli from Serralunga d'Alba are often in a category apart thanks to their richness and sheer fruit weight. With extra aeration, Lazzarito delivers mint, balsam herb or Fernet-Branca." Barolo “Coste & Bricco” DOCG 2016 · 6 Flaschen in Original-Holzkiste

SUPERIORE.DE

"This is the top-shelf wine from Matteo Ascheri and also the wine with the smallest production numbers, with just 2,800 bottles made. Fruit comes from two parcels in the Sorano cru of Serralunga d'Alba: the Vigna Coste and the Vigna Bricco. The 2016 Barolo Coste & Bricco is indeed profound and compelling, thanks to its very elegant and powerful DNA. This wine sneaks up on the senses with mounting intensity that starts off with red fruit and wild berries and eventually transitions to white licorice, ash, smoke and pretty mineral nuances. The wine is focused and bright with abundant Nebbiolo typicity. Fermentation is short at just two weeks, and the wine ages in 18-hectoliter new and used oak for 22 months. I see that the prices of Ascheri's wines seem to reflect availability; however, the quality is excellent, making this bottle ever more precious." Robert Parker

    • Barolo "Sperss" DOCG 2016 <br>MAGNUM in Original-Holzkiste

Barolo “Sperss” DOCG 2016 · MAGNUM in Original-Holzkiste

SUPERIORE.DE

"Gaja's Barolo Sperss is unbelievably polished in 2016. Fragrant, medium in body and silky for a Serralunga Barolo, Sperss speaks to finesse more than anything else. The dark, brooding qualities that are such signatures emerge with time in the glass, and yet the 2016 remains light on its feet and incredibly nuanced. While the 2015 showed some linkage to the past, the 2016 really appears to represent a big stylistic shift. What a gorgeous wine it is." Vinous

"Very floral and refined with dried cherry, strawberry, smoke and spice. Some tile and toffee. Fascinating aromas. Full-bodied and very tight with a solid core of polished tannins that are so creamy and beautiful. Tight and reserved with really wonderful length and focus." James Suckling

"Rose, iris, red berry and camphor mingle with a whiff of dark spice on this gorgeous, radiant red. Firmly structured but also boasting extraordinary finesse, the chiseled palate delivers ripe morello cherry, crushed raspberry, star anise and tobacco set against a backbone of taut fine-grained tannins. Vibrant acidity keeps it well balanced and energized." Wine Enthusiast

"The golden touch, that proverbial Gaja magic, is taken to a whole new level in the 2016 Barolo Sperss. Angelo Gaja has taught his children to follow their own path, and now that the generational switch is well underway at the family estate, we can see that Gaia, Rossana and Giovanni have done him proud. Very proud. This stunning expression from the 2016 vintage represents quite a few celebratory milestones. Starting with appearance, the wine is luminous and bright with shiny ruby and garnet gemstone. Its aromatic reach is three-dimensional with width, height and depth. Delicate berry tones cede to pressed lilac, anise, sandalwood and cardamom spice. I double decanted and left the bottle open for a few hours before my tasting. The results are tight and gentle, and the wine shows beautiful vertical lift and intensity. To achieve this much power without the excess fruit weight is really quite an accomplishment. This is the magic of Nebbiolo, and the magic of Gaja." Robert Parker

      Barolo “Falletto” DOCG 2016 · 6 Flaschen in Original-Holzkiste

SUPERIORE.DE

"A massive wine from Serralunga, this displays dense cherry and red-fruit aromas that are solid and brooding. Full-bodied with firm tannins that are chunky now, this has immense concentration and force, if not the ethereal quality that marks Giacosa's supreme wines. But it's balanced, with the high alcohol not discernible, and given the slight furriness on the very long finish, this needs time." Decanter

"This pretty red offers distinctive mint, black tea, cherry, tar, iron and tobacco aromas and flavors. Firm and dry, with the tobacco and tea notes echoing on the finish. Shows plenty of finesse." Wine Spectator

"This is a really dense red with intensity and beauty, showing dried fruit, such as strawberries, as well as chocolate, tar, hazelnuts and meat. Really complex and rich. Opulent, yet tense with dusty tannins. Extremely long. Great finish. Hard not to drink now, but will age incredibly well. Try after 2025." James Suckling

Barolo “Falletto Vigna Le Rocche” Riserva DOCG 2014 · 6 Flaschen in Original-Holzkiste

SUPERIORE.DE

"Giacosa's Riservas are among the most prized wines in Piedmont, and even in this difficult vintage the property made an outstanding wine from this vineyard in Serralunga. As always, the nose is incredibly perfumed, showing ripe raspberry fruit but also violets. The purity and poise are remarkable. There's a fine attack, ample concentration of course, and polished tannins balanced by fine acidity. It's taut and refined yet has remarkable volume for 2014 and excellent length." Decanter

"This is lean, taut and expressive, with rose, cherry, white pepper and mint flavors allied to the steely structure. Leaves a chalky impression on the long finish." Wine Spectator

"This red label Riserva was made in 2012 and 2014 and will be released in 2016 and 2017. Bruna Giacosa and her team skipped over 2013 and 2015. However, the current release is the 2014 Barolo Riserva Falletto Vigna Le Rocche, and well, there's a lot to take in. Simply put, this is a beautiful wine that unfolds slowly with amazing intensity and complexity, delivering delicate notes of violets and candied orange peel that cede softly to darker tones of licorice, dried blackberry and savory spice. Give the wine the time it needs to open in the glass. This vintage flaunts its most elegant side, with fine tannins and soft fruity fiber that remains everlasting and pure. This estate is known for taking its biggest chances in the so-called off vintages. Betting on 2014 has turned out to be a brilliantly contemplated move." Robert Parker

"The aromas are so seductive with dried roses and berries. Tar and asphalt, too. Full bodied, very tight and powerful. Lean and long tannins. It goes on for so long. Stops and then starts over again. A curious and challenging young wine. Great." James Suckling
