Aglianico Campania IGT 2019
Fascinating bouquet of fruit and lively mix of minerals, smoke and tobacco. Structured, well-dosed tannins and a fresh juiciness on the palate. SUPERIORE.DE
"Musky blackberries and cherries mix with sweet tobacco and hints of brown spice as the 2019 Aglianico unfolds in the glass. This is silky and polished, casting ripe red and black fruits across a core of salty minerals, with energizing acidity that keeps the expression fresh and lifted throughout. A saturation of primary concentration lingers along with sweet tannins that frame the experience well. This is a solid effort that displays wonderful balance and punches well above its price point." Fiano di Avellino DOCG 2019
Fiano di Avellino with a seductive bouquet of white spring flowers, peaches, almonds and a very light smoky note. Round and fresh on the palate of tropical fruits and spices, beautiful minerality on the finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Donnachiara 2019 Fiano di Avellino is fragrant and fresh with white flowers, almond blossoms, citrus and acacia honey. This is a pristine and zesty white with good acidity and a snappy, lean-bodied approach. This is a terrific bottle to pair with a classic Caesar salad with croutons, romaine lettuce and a citrusy vinaigrette." Robert Parker

“Resilienza” Falanghina Beneventano IGT 2018
Bright straw yellow in the glass. Fresh and bright aromas of sliced peaches and pears with some flint, followed by a full body, beautiful fruit with flanking acidity and a tasteful, round finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Here I’m finding a rich expression of 2018 Falanghina Resilienza Beneventano blossoms in the glass to show a mix of dried peaches, sweet herbal tea, hints of kiwi, and spice. It floods the palate with oily richness, yet brisk acids add balance, as ripe peach gives way to notes of mango with a lemon twist. The finish is long, showing more of a lime citrus and mineral expression, as acids sizzle on the senses, adding even further intrigue. I must admit that I’m usually more of a fan of the fresher styles for Falanghina, but Donnachiara Resilienza doesn't miss a beat. It’s a gorgeous wine." Vinous

“Aletheia” Greco di Tufo DOCG 2017
The strictly selected grapes of this Greco in Riserva quality come from the Santa Paolina vineyard. The wine matures 12 months on the fine yeast and only 3,300 bottles are sold in selected specialist shops and restaurants. Brilliant light yellow with golden reflections. In the bouquet yellow fruits such as apricot and peach, in addition grassy-herbal notes. On the palate full and round, with a subtle creaminess, very complex and spicy. Despite its opulence and fullness of flavour, it is precise and fresh and has a wonderful ageing potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"This is my first taste of this new wine from Donnachiara. The 2017 Greco di Tufo Aletheia takes a cheerful and carefree approach to the Greco grape with citrus fruit, pear, white melon, honey and crushed mineral. The wine is transparent and luminous in appearance with a fresh, simple and forthcoming delivery of aromas. A selection of the best fruit from the Santa Paolina vineyard with tufo-rich soils is used. No malolactic fermentation was allowed, and the wine is sharp and extra crispy as a result. Some 3,300 numbered bottles were made." Robert Parker
"This boasts beautiful nectarines and peaches, not to mention grass and fresh herbs. Full-bodied and intense with oily complexity, yet tightly wound and tangy." James Suckling

Taurasi Riserva DOCG 2012
Deep dark red, in the fragrance black fruits, flint stone and hints of arable land. On the palate taut and precise aromas of spicy herbs, black cherry, white pepper and smoke. Very juicy-fleshy and fresh in the long finish. A full-bodied, intellectual red wine that already enchants with charisma and disarming depth. SUPERIORE.DE
"Unique aromas of blackberry, mushroom, walnut and spice follow through to a full body, yet tight and polished with firm and silky tannins and a long and flavorful finish. Slighty dusty finish. A beauty." James Suckling
"Spiced plum, blue flower, vanilla, French oak and balsamic aromas lead the way on this firmly structured red. Full-bodied and elegant, the youthful, enveloping palate evokes blackberry, black cherry, pipe tobacco and ground clove framed in tightly knit fine-grained tannins." Wine Enthusiast

The Donnachiara winery is worth a special mention. Chiara Petitto had inherited some vineyards, which her husband Umberto, an experienced and wealthy entrepreneur from Avellino, extended by the purchase of very good sites in the mountainous hinterland of Naples, called Irpinia, and with the support of the family in a few years to a solid Campanian winegrower's business developed. What started out as a hobby has now become a resolutely run family project that focuses on consistently high quality rather than quantity in wine production in the Avellino wine region.
The expressive drops from Montefalcione, which were extended by two labels a few years ago, are a great pleasure to drink because of the very successful synthesis of terroir, local grape variety selection and wine knowledge. Today, the winery, founded in 2005, is managed by Chiaras and Umbertos strong-willed daughter Ilaria. The winemaker is supported in her work by cellar master Angelo Valentino and a young, well-trained team.
The young company Donnachiara, whose family roots go back about 150 years with the first vineyards, owns 23 hectares of vines mostly planted with Aglianico and some leased land. For Fiano, Greco and Falanghina grapes are bought from other wine houses. The young cellar master understands his profession masterfully. He succeeds again and again in producing high class wines from Fiano di Avellino and Greco di Tufo with deep minerality and very strong character by means of spontaneous fermentation. The white wines age in steel tanks, the long yeast storage gives them a full-bodied and fruity character. The red aromatic plants prepared from Aglianico - sometimes also "Barolos of the South" called - clearly show a modern style.
Ilaria Petitto and Angelo Valentino benefit from the volcanic landscape around Vesuvius, especially near the provincial town of Avellino, which consists mainly of limestone, tuff and clay. The exceptionally good terroir was partly responsible for the fact that the Petitto family was represented in the Top 100 of the loudly Wine Spectatorbest and most interesting wines with their products for the first time in 2012. In conclusion, I think it can be said that The mission of Donnachiara is to rediscover and emphasize the typical characteristics, scents and aromas of the millennia-old Irpinia wines. SUPERIORE.DE
"Above all, it is thanks to the consistency of its services that the Petitto family business can remain extremely stable in the competitive Avellino area."Gambero Rosso
