“Tellus” Syrah Lazio IGP 2020
A flattering wine. Intense notes of sour cherry and citrus on the nose, along with a fine, balsamic spiciness, as well as laurel, bitter chocolate and nutty hints. Soft impression on the palate, polished tannin and harmonious acidity, balsamic and long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, bright ruby red. In the nose plump and ripe cherries and plums, light pepper note. Powerful on the palate, very fruity with a slightly rustic tannin." Falstaff
"This is an excellent value. The Famiglia Cotarella 2020 Syrah Tellus Falesco shows some plums and sultanas from the hot vintage, but the wine drinks easily thanks to soft tannins and a medium-bodied mouthfeel. The fruit technically comes from the Lazio region with volcanic soils." Wine Advocate
"The 2020 Syrah Tellus requires some coaxing to open in the glass, showing dark confectionary fruits laced with lavender and sweet smoke. It washes across the palate with ease, leaving mineral-tinged black currant accentuated by a vivid note of clove. This leaves a coating of fine tannins yet remains lively and fresh as violet-laced blackberries slowly taper off. I love the 2020 for its elegance." Vinous

“Montalzato” Rosso Toscana IGT 2020
Juicy and for the grape variety relatively low-acid red from almost exclusively Sangiovese. Dark berries on the nose, mainly cherry and cassis, some oyster shell. The taste is full and well structured. This inexpensive and very precise red ends softly and with nicely integrated tannins. SUPERIORE.DE
"This is an easy-drinking blend of predominantly Sangiovese with smaller portions of Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The Montalzato the entry level shows a medium texture with aromas of dark fruits, like blackberries, and a hint of baking chocolate. The warm vintage comes through on the finish with hints of cherry liqueur." Wine Advocate
"Black berries, black cherries and black olives on the nose and palate. Some undertones of herbs and earth. Full body, medium round tannins and a delicious finish. This wine will age well now, but it will improve." James Suckling

“Gazzerotta” Grillo Superiore Sicilia DOC 2021
Pellegrino's Grillo Superiore matures longer on the fine yeast than Il Salinario. Brilliant straw yellow in the glass. Intense and complex on the nose, floral and fragrant, the scent of yellow flowers is flanked by buttery notes and hints of peach and hazelnut. Intense and persistent in the mouth, very soft, fresh and with moderate acidity. SUPERIORE.DE
"It has aromas of papaya, pear peel, lemon zest and sage. Medium-bodied and tangy with a slightly lifted lemon character." James Suckling
"The Gazzerotta Grillo Superiore 2021 is a supple and silky wine from low-yielding vines planted on mineral-rich clay soils at an altitude of only 20 to 30 metres and not too far from the coast. The wine shows good fruit weight and texture, followed by a particularly clear and crisp flavour profile. There are notes of citrus, green apple and kiwi. This is a simple, good value wine with authentic Sicilian character." Wine Advocate

Greco di Tufo DOCG 2022
The Greco, with its straw yellow colour and brilliant reflections, has a distinct aroma spectrum, from the delicate scent of white fruit to notes of vanilla, bracken and mint. On the palate, it impresses with its warm yet fresh flavour and balanced mineral structure with a lingering finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright straw yellow with hints of silver. Elegantly restrained on the nose, yellow apple and pear, some sea breeze. Citric notes on the palate, refreshing, straightforward, subtle mellowness, sea breeze again on the finish." Falstaff
"On the nose, this Greco di Tufo shows a classic combination of green apples and apricots with the telltale aroma of peat, while on the palate it offers more crisp green apples and also savoury, nutty notes before finishing with wet slate and minerals." Wine Enthusiast
"This is a very solid rendition with lots of fruit, savoury freshness, amazing versatility and above all fidelity to the diversity and volcanoes of the place. Almond meal, quince, tangerine and baked apple, with a hint of fennel and sea spray." James Suckling
"This is a classic white wine that shows consistent results year after year. The Feudi di San Gregorio 2022 Greco di Tufo offers crisp freshness with stone fruit and pear. The wine sits in steel vats for four months. It glides smoothly over the palate thanks to a food-friendly, lean-bodied style and pretty mineral nuances to close." Wine Advocate

“Visadi” Dolcetto Langhe DOC 2022
The grapes come from the Ginestra, Mosconi and San Pietro cru sites, with around 10 rows planted outside the appellation boundaries (this is why the wine is a Langhe Dolcetto and not a Dolcetto d'Alba). Beautiful, detailed aroma of rose gardens and lavender fields. The finish is slender, soft and silky with aromatic richness and plenty of fruit. A wonderfully complex Dolcetto in the impeccable style of the Clerico house. SUPERIORE.DE
"This is a wine that is fun to drink and reveals sweet, explosive fruit. It is charming through and through. The Domenico Clerico 2022 Langhe Dolcetto Visadì shows fresh sour cherry and summery blueberry. The fruit is sweet and fresh, and there are also subtle floral aromas." Wine Advocate

“Genius Loci” Fiano del Sannio DOP 2022
Genius Loci is a fresh, refined, terroir-typical Fiano del Sannio. Smells spicy of sage and meadow flowers, complex on the palate with fine fruit and good length. SUPERIORE.DE
"Pale straw yellow with silver reflections. Intense aroma of ripe peach and vanilla on the nose. Fruity and fresh on the palate, pleasant fruit sweetness, refreshing acidity, subtly salty final." Falstaff
"Genius Loci is the ancient Roman tradition of celebrating the spirit of place. From one of the most beautiful and untouched areas of southern Italy, the unoaked Terre Stregate 2022 Sannio Fiano Genius Loci is generous and rich, especially in terms of aromas, with sweet peach, baked pear and subtle spice. Barbera d’Alba Superiore DOC 2021
Fontanabianca has created an elegant and densely packed Barbera. It shows the exuberance and potential of the grape, yet with appropriate restraint. It is neither jammy nor too fruity, but indulges with a fine dose of dried cherry, blackberry and plum aromas, plus some Spanish cedar with a fine citrus note. A balanced drop with a beautiful final. SUPERIORE.DE
"A taut, black cherry– and plum-flavored red, with accents of earth and spices. Reveals a firm, tactile edge to the light tannins on the finish." Wine Spectator
"The Fontanabianca 2021 Barbera d'Alba Superiore is very rich and extracted with a heavy fruit quality reminiscent of dried blackberries, plums, spices and dried tobacco leaves. The finish shows soft, earthy notes and a full-bodied texture. This Barbera is on the bigger and bolder side of the spectrum." Wine Advocate

"Fresh and limey citrus with a hint of seashell minerality and green apples. Simple but bone-dry and fresh on the palate, with a lovely phenolic note and a chalky finish. Drink now." James Suckling
"The Villa Matilde Avallone 2022 Greco di Tufo Tenuta Pietrafusa Daltavilla is a pretty wine that shows the character and clarity of the Greco grape, here lightly complemented by gentle notes of apple, pear and exotic vanilla from a hot vintage. “Lamuri” Nero d’Avola Sicilia DOC 2020
Ruby red colour, appealing, slightly reductive aroma of ripe blackberries and elderberries, quite dense on the palate, certain fruit sweetness, good harmony between juicy acidity and velvety tannins, elegant finish with traces of cassis. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Tenuta Regaleali Tasca d'Almerita 2020 Sicilia Nero d'Avola Lamùri opens with a dark colour and a rich concentration of pressed blackberries, Mediterranean herbs, black olives and scorched earth. You can feel the fruit concentration of a hot and sunny vintage." Wine Advocate
"The Nero d'Avola Lamuri 2020 opens slowly in the glass, dusty and floral with floral undergrowth and smouldering ash stone forming its bouquet. It is soft and pure in style, with mineral-tinged red and black fruits accompanied by a lively acidity. On the finish, tart notes of wild berries and citrus fruits leave a bitter aftertaste." Vinous
"On the nose, this wine develops rich floral and fruity aromas of black cherry, violet and rose petals as well as stony notes of cobblestones and gravel. On the palate, it shows its best side. A savoury blend of spices, earth and a hint of balsamic vinegar meets more berries. The tannins are strong and chewy, and the acidity is restrained." Wine Enthusiast
"It's a Nero of striking density and intensity but with excellent balance. Earthy dark fruit aromas complement the sticky, spicy palate, with streaks of chocolate, salt and fresh herbs." Decanter
"A very solid and beautiful red with blackberries, asphalt and violets. Underneath it all is a berry compote. Medium to full body, chewy tannins and a juicy finish." James Suckling

“Alpha” Vino Rosso 2021
"Rich, deep dark ruby violet. Intense nose, opens with notes of dark chocolate, then lots of blackberry and cassis, underpinned by fine graphite. Medium weight on the palate, showing lots of crunchy currant fruit, some beetroot, grippy tannin." Falstaff
"The 2021 Alpha is a new wine from Montepeloso. It offers sweet, dark plum fruit, graphite, menthol and liquorice, framed by jabbing tannins that need a little time to soften, though I imagine most bottles will be long gone before that happens. Alpha is a blend of young vines and some bought-in fruit." Vinous
"A rich and firm red wine with aromas and flavours of dark berries and dark earth. Medium to full-bodied with solid tannins and a flavourful finish." James Suckling
"Here is a new submission from Montepeloso in Suvereto, Tuscany, described as a "vino rosso" (or no appellation). The 2021 Alpha shows a rich and lush personality with medium weight fruit. There is plenty of tart fruit, with the two characteristics - acidity and tannins - giving this young wine the qualifications to pair with a hearty pasta or grilled meats." Wine Advocate

“Cutizzi” Greco di Tufo DOCG 2022
Intense, straw-yellow colour and a complex bouquet in which the aromas of melon and pineapple alternate with spicy notes of camomile, vanilla and nutmeg. On the palate, it is round with a rich texture and the pleasant minerality so typical of the Tufo region. Elegant, long finish with a delicate almond flavour. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright straw yellow with green reflections. Yellow peach and orange zest on the nose, delicate nuances of dandelion. Yellow-fruity, juicy and fresh on the palate, lively acidity, pleasantly salty on the finish." Falstaff
"The 2022 Greco di Tufo Cutizzi opens with an array of sweet white flowers, chamomile and crushed apples. It balances ripe fruit trees and green melon with salty mineral tones and tantalising acidity. The 2022 finishes with a saline tension and notes of nectarine." Vinous
"Elegant, fresh and dense, with a delicious acidity and a chalky base note that frames flavours of ripe mirabelle plums and nectarines, blanched almonds, aniseed, hyssop and preserved lemon." Wine Spectator
"This is a fine Greco. It's savoury, almondy, quinine, bitter and spicy, while subtly moving into stone fruit territory without going over the top. A tremor of mineral tension and shotgun acidity finds a nervous meeting with a stiff upper lip of richness. Convincing." James Suckling
"The Feudi di San Gregorio 2022 Greco di Tufo Cutizzi is just the ticket for a plate of raw fish with spicy wasabi sauce or tuna tartare. This wine is round and juicy, yet pure, with mineral red berries that saturate, while the lively acidity maintains a fantastic freshness. A subtle coating of fine tannins and a salty note define the final, while the 2020 tapers off smoothly and grippily under a hint of red flowers. This is an excellent entry-level Etna Rosso." Vinous

"The Chianti Classico 2021 is accessible and easy to drink. Mild cherry and dried raspberry, followed by almond, blue flower and peat moss. The winemaking is very simple and starts with spontaneous yeast fermentation and a short maturation in large oak barrels. You get good value, especially with this classic vintage." Wine Advocate
"The Chianti Classico 2021 is great. Bright and vibrant, with plenty of Sangiovese character, the 2021 is everything a Chianti Classico should be. Bright red cherry fruit, blood orange, mint, spice and tobacco all come through well in this juicy, wonderfully inviting Chianti Classico. The 2021 is one of the best editions of this wine I've tasted recently." Vinous
"Notes of cooked strawberries, red licorice, blood orange and cedar. Medium body. Bright and racy with crunchy acidity and a flavorful finish." James Suckling

Rosso di Montalcino DOC 2021
Rich ruby red colour, precise, clear fruit on the nose with a very light mineral note. Pleasant, beautifully smooth flavour, round and of good substance. A Rosso di Montalcino with a lot of charm. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2021 Il Poggione Rosso di Montalcino offers medium weight fruit with dark cherry, wild plum and savoury spice. This is an excellent vintage with moderate summer temperatures and a long growing season, which is very favourable to Sangiovese, a grape that needs its time to mature and develop complexity. This Rosso also shows a particularly spicy character with nutmeg and cinnamon, which seems to come from both the grape skins and the 12 months in oak barrels." Wine Advocate
"A juicy red, with leather and underbrush accents framing smoky cherry, plum and mineral flavors. Well-structured and long, with a solid grip of tannins on the lingering aftertaste. Offers fine intensity." Wine Spectator
"A beautifully spicy Rosso di Montalcino with cloves, dried flowers, sour cherries and orange peel on the nose. Creamy and medium to full-bodied, with chalky tannins and a ripe, chocolaty finish." James Suckling
"The 2021 Rosso di Montalcino immediately catches the eye, with a classic, dusty mix of dried cherries, worn leather and earthy tones, complicated by aromas of roasted meat. It is polished. A crisp minerality emphasises the pure red fruits, which are accompanied by a lively acidity. This leaves you wanting more, as the orange and cranberry flavours linger in the mouth for a long time. The 2021 is a fantastic, dynamic Rosso that makes me curious to see what the Brunello of the vintage will bring." Vinous

“Novaserra” Greco di Tufo DOCG 2022
Generous bouquet of yellow peaches and aniseed. Ripe, yet incredibly fresh fruit on the palate, very harmonious and varied. The long final reveals a mineral note as well as a delicate hint of caramel, a very nice interpretation of a Greco di Tufo. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Greco di Tufo NovaSerra 2022 shows a very precise and linear personality with gravel, white melon and green apple flavours. The growing season was very hot, and fruit selection was key to maintaining quality here and elsewhere in the region. NovaSerra also shows sweet flowers and a hint of jasmine." Wine Advocate
"This sleek, minerally white offers hints of grilled macadamia nut, which underscore and enrich a finely meshed flavor profile of tangerine, persimmon and chamomile. Racy finish." Wine Spectator
"A very savoury nose of crisp leather and mixed spices and herbs is lifted by undertones of dandelion and lemon. The lemon current becomes a river on the palate, but a lingering, slightly savoury earthiness keeps you on your toes until a sweet iced tea finish." Wine Enthusiast
"Aromas of matchsticks and pumice with a hint of white pepper. Almonds, sliced apples and limes. Medium body, creamy texture and a soft, fresh finish. You can really taste the volcanic soil." James Suckling

“Misco” Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore DOC 2021
Misco, the estate's second top white product and a Verdicchio matured in stainless steel, exudes an elegant bouquet of floral and aniseed notes. On the palate, it is a magnificent interplay of juice and vigour, spicy tension, fresh citrus notes and aromatic firmness. It is one of the best in its denomination every year. SUPERIORE.DE
"Light golden light yellow; stale-fruity notes, mushroom; full-bodied, almost fruity, delicately bitter, lemony, also fresh mushrooms in the mouth, fresh, juicy." Merum
"Bright, sparkling straw yellow colour. Nobly restrained nose, mineral notes, reminiscent of wet stone, with some lemon and sage behind it. Lots of citrus fruit on the palate, fresh, crystalline clarity, salty, racy acidity, lingering, mouthwatering final." Falstaff
"This four-hectare cru facing the river spends 12 months on the lees without batonnage in stainless steel tanks, giving intense and fresh apple and lemon characters accompanied by floral scents and subtle spice. Soft and smooth, there's a touch of leesy creaminess underlining orange peel and juicy pineapple, peach and baked apple flavours. White pepper notes emerge on the long finish." Decanter
"The 2021 Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore Misco offers a minimalist reading of the grape with very fresh and concentrated flavours of white flowers, cut grass, freshly squeezed grapefruit and a hint of white pepper. The finish has a tangy, electric quality." Wine Advocate
"Always breathtaking, the 100% Verdicchio from Misco from a slightly late harvest. A multifaceted and fascinating nose, medicinal herbs, sage in the lead, tabacchiera peach, lily of the valley, with beautiful tension. Broad and crisp on the palate, horizontal, with excellent persistence." Luca Gardini

Radici Fiano di Avellino DOCG 2022
Mastroberardino is particularly focussed on the old Fiano grape variety. It was already cultivated by the Romans, who called it Vitis apiana because of its special attraction to bees (apis). It produces a straw-coloured, wonderfully aromatic wine with a spicy honey and nutty bouquet. The characteristic flavour is very harmonious. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Fiano di Avellino Radici 2022 shows aromas of tropical fruit, ripe peach, melon and other hot season flavours. The mouthfeel is quite dense, in keeping with the slightly reductive style favoured in a wine like this, which is aged only in stainless steel. It finishes with a lean texture and good freshness." Wine Advocate
"Fresh and open-knit, this minerally white layers flavors of ripe pear, star fruit, fresh herbs and salted Marcona almond with a base of stone and smoke. Crisp finish." Wine Spectator

“Rubiolo 30 anni” Chianti Classico DOCG 2021 (BIO)
Chianti Classico Rubiolo shows its delicately spicy side on the nose with cloves, cinnamon, lavender, wild dark cherries and blackberries that are beautifully ripe but not overripe. There are also floral hints. The fruit for this extremely good value wine comes from Castellina and Panzano, whereby the fullness and richness of the Panzano region are clearly noticeable. The finish is soft and velvety. It is the exceptional balance of the wine that really sets it apart. SUPERIORE.DE
"Mid-to-deep crimson. Concentrated, full yet cool nose of cherry fruit. Tangy cherry fruit with a layer of grainy tannins. Great balance and length." Jancis Robinson
"The 2021 Chianti Classico Rubiolo is a soft, fruity wine to drink now and over the next few years while the flavors remain vibrant. Succulent red cherry fruit, orange peel, mint and white flowers all race out of the glass. This exuberant, juicy Chianti Classico is a delight." Vinous
"Aromas of ripe red fruit, licorice, spices and pink peppercorns. Medium- to full-bodied, juicy and tense with vivid acidity and polished tannins. Hints of walnuts and savory herbs at the end." James Suckling
"The organic 2021 Chianti Classico Rubiolo is an excellent value wine. The wine is all Sangiovese sourced from three sites in Castellina, Panzano and Badia a Passignano. The wine delivers a dark ruby color, and although the aromatic intensity is measured, there are delicately perfumed tones of cherry, raspberry and blood orange that feel punchy and bright. You also get pretty floral tones." Wine Advocate

“Barbaspinosa” Rosso Maremma Toscana DOC 2018
Bright ruby red with delicately lightening rim. Fresh, pithy, very enjoyable wine with the scent of dark cherries, flowers and mint. Hearty delicate taste, good present acidity, very lively and full of character. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sangiovese with some Cabernet from the Avvoltore vineyards: inviting bouquet of plums, vanilla and sandalwood; nice melt and polish, good acidity, solid length." Vinum
"Medium ruby red with a slightly brightening rim. In the nose of ripe blackberries and pickled sour cherry, slightly spicy in the background. Mouth-filling on the palate, juicy, with fine tannin." Falstaff
"The 2018 Barbaspinosa is a blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon that spent a year in French oak. Racy and succulent in the glass, the 2018 offers up dark cherry, mocha, spice, licorice and leather, all nicely framed by a discreet kiss of French oak. Pretty floral accents lift the finish effortlessly. This mid-weight Maremma red is a winner. Drink it over the next handful of years. " Vinous
"The Morisfarms 2018 Maremma Toscana Sangiovese Barbaspinosa is a lively, almost electric wine, with medium-dark color saturation and terrific aromatic depth. There is bright cherry, redcurrant, spice and a powdery overlay of crushed stone. This wine should drink comfortably up to the 10-year mark." Wine Advocate

The magazine "The Wine Advocate" (TWA for short) was founded in 1978 by Robert M. Parker Jr. The American Parker is considered one of the most influential wine tasters in the world. In the meantime, an international team of tasters stands behind the renowned name, who evaluate the most important wine regions of the world with their expertise. The independent reports and well-founded tasting notes have been published in the magazine "The Wine Advocate" for more than 40 years. A large following has enjoyed the editorial team's wine ratings for decades, and they are accepted and appreciated almost without contradiction all over the world.
All wines are rated according to the 100-point system, which is based on the American school grading system and has since been adopted internationally. For Italy, the chief taster Antonio Galloni evaluated for many years; since he left to become independent (vinous.com), Monica Larner has taken over this area. Born in California, she has lived in Italy for many years and knows the Italian wine world like no other.
Monica Larner is a certified sommelière of the Italian Sommelier Association AIS, she wrote for the daily newspaper La Repubblica for a long time and was the Italy expert of Wine Enthusiast for ten years. She is highly regarded by Italian winemakers and is an excellent taster. Her obliging commitment has also contributed to the fact that "The Wine Advocate" has gained significantly in reputation again in Italy. SUPERIORE.DE
