• Vernatsch (Schiava) Alto Adige DOC 2019

Vernatsch (Schiava) Alto Adige DOC 2019

This Schiava has a typical fruity bouquet of cherry, raspberry and strawberry. On the palate it is fruity and mineral and has a firm, slender structure. A fresh companion for every day. SUPERIORE.DE

"The Schiava grape produces softly contoured and delicate red wines that offer a mild texture and lean appearance not unlike a traditional Pinot Noir from Burgundy. The Peter Zemmer 2019 Alto Adige Vernatsch Schiava opens to aromas of wild raspberry, rose, lilac and white licorice. The wine's smooth and silky mouthfeel and its fresh berry flavors call out for some homemade fried chicken. With 14,000 bottles made, you get terrific value." Robert Parker

    • Morellino di Scansano DOCG 2019

      Morellino di Scansano DOCG 2019

Deep dark red colour, beautiful fruit aromas of cherries and ripe, dark berries. In the taste balanced, complex, dense, finesse-rich and with silky tannins. SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright ruby. Youthful nose of early ripe cherries and wild strawberries, slightly vegetal, delicately peppery and spicy on the finish. On the palate very juicy and with young tannin, crisp fruit, high drinkability, in a few months still complete, great food companion." Falstaff

"The Fattoria le Pupille 2019 Morellino di Scansano is a bright and lively value wine that trusts its basic identity to cherry, dried raspberry and some wild bramble or rosemary essence. This is a lean and sprightly red wine that boats the freshness and intensity of Sangiovese along with the wild fruit and blue flower sensations that are most often associated with this mighty Tuscan grape. I could see a happy pairing with oven-cooked pasta or lasagna." Robert Parker

"A red with plum and cherry character, as well as hints of terracotta and rust. It’s medium-bodied with firm, tangy tannins and a long, flavorful finish. This is always a good, go-to red."James Suckling

    • "Contado" Aglianico Riserva Molise DOC 2015

“Contado” Aglianico Riserva Molise DOC 2015

Concentrated ruby red with garnet reflections. To the predominant cherry and berry scent the wood contributes very light hints of roasted coffee. Full and very intense taste of dark berries, very light of violets and plums, the compact tannins are carried by balsamic notes, in the aftertaste fine liquorice tones. SUPERIORE.DE

"Of the many value reds offered by this estate, the 2015 Aglianico del Molise Riserva Contado is my favorite. The wine delivers the power and density that is attributed to this fabulous red grape, followed by warm-vintage aromas that are exuberant and generous. You get black cherry and blackberry preserves followed by light baking spice. This is a full-bodied wine that achieves careful balance." Robert Parker

    • "Somereto" Chardonnay Alto Adige DOC 2019

“Somereto” Chardonnay Alto Adige DOC 2019

The straw-yellow Somereto smells fruity and intense of ripe banana and other tropical fruits. At the palate voluminous and very lasting with pleasant acid. A modern cosmopolitan with beautiful power. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2019 Chardonnay Somereto pleases with a mix of ripe yellow apple, subtle spices, and lifting floral tones. It’s textural and perfectly balanced, playing tart orchard fruits and minerals against juicy acids that create a push and pull of sour and sweet. A salty twang of citrus frames the experience nicely, ending clean and remarkably fresh." Vinous

"The 2019 Alto Adige Chardonnay Somereto is a true charmer. The wine delivers some of the mild creaminess and textural smoothness that comes naturally to Chardonnay (outside any oak regime), and that pretty, mid-weight fruitiness is especially compelling in this vintage. Somereto is refreshingly crisp, mineral driven and fruity. Simple winemaking is completed in stainless steel with a brief six months of lees contact. Indeed, this is a beautifully naked expression of the grape, from calcareous, reddish clay soils and a cool climate at 260 to 380 meters above sea level. The finish is citrusy, acidic and fresh. You get tremendous value here." Robert Parker

“Poggio Argentato” Bianco Toscana IGT 2019

Poggio Argentato is a beautifully balanced white with a French touch. In the nose a multilayered bouquet with fine herbal notes. On the palate powerful, fresh, elegant and carried by a mineral acidity, citrus tones in the aftertaste. SUPERIORE.DE

"Plenty of cooked limes and pears with a creamy texture and tangy fruit at the end. Always a delicious white." James Suckling

"The 2019 Poggio Argento is gorgeous. This racy blend is soft, pliant and incredibly inviting. Lemon confit, orchard fruit and exotic floral notes give this effusive coastal white so much allure." Vinous

"This is a Tuscan white wine with a huge following, and deservedly so. The Fattoria le Pupille 2019 Poggio Argentato is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Petit Manseng, Traminer and Semillon. The wine broaches a mid-weight texture, showing some creamy density and waxiness, but it ultimately pulls back to a lean-bodied approach that is pushed forward by the wine's bright and snappy acidity. It delivers aromas of orchard fruit, tangerine skin, sweet almond and poached pear. It has the 360-degree latitude to pair with vegetarian dishes, fish or white meat." Robert Parker

"The G.D. Vajra 2019 Dolcetto d'Alba is a dark and exuberant wine that offers a naked and pure interpretation of this easy and food-friendly grape. • "Terre di San Leonardo" Rosso Dolomiti IGT 2016

“Terre di San Leonardo” Rosso Dolomiti IGT 2016

The entry wine into the big world of Tenuta di San Leonardo gives us a taste of the fruit intensity and exuberance associated with the 2016 vintage. The grapes for this lovely red cuvee of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenère come without exception from the winery's own vineyards. Terre offers present notes of black cherry, spice and blackberry. It is a whimsical, lively and very fruit-driven red that will provide much pleasure within the next few years! SUPERIORE.DE

"A lightly herbal red with impressions of dried hay, redcurrants and cranberry pie. Light to medium body, fine yet firm tannins and a medium finish." James Suckling

"The 2016 Terre di San Leonardo Rosso is an excellent introduction to the producer and their style. Crushed black cherries, wild, peppery herbs, crushed stone and hints of animal musk can be found in the glass. It trades power for tension, displaying a mix of tart woodland red and black berry fruits, complemented by zesty acids and minerals with just a hint of sweet spice. Its structure is present yet doesn’t overwhelm." Vinous

"The well-priced 2016 Terre di San Leonardo is a terrific sounding board not only for the vintage and its classic lines but also for the unique San Leonardo territory and microclimate at the Adige River bed between mountain peaks. The wine opens to a medium-light appearance with dark garnet highlights. The aromas are delicate and soft, with a lot of blue flower and wild rose. A refreshing layer of forest berry and cassis come next, and the bouquet finishes up with mulling spice and smoke. There is a point of sour cherry or cranberry on the finish." Robert Parker

“Bric del Salto” Dolcetto d’Alba DOC 2018

Bright ruby red. Bric del Salto interprets the famous Piedmontese grape variety in a direct and classic way. Fruity bouquet combined with the typical Neive spice. On the palate it is clear, with precise fruit, the right dose of fine tannins - and above all an inspiring freshness. SUPERIORE.DE

"The well-priced Sottimano 2018 Dolcetto d’Alba Bric del Salto opens to a lean appearance with a light garnet color. This comes as a surprise, as Dolcetto tends to delivers much darker colors and richer saturation. The Sottimano house style embraces elegance, grace and fragility. These goals are achieved effortlessly here, and again, the big surprise is that the exuberant and freewheeling intensity of the Dolcetto grape can be harnessed so effectively to reveal understated aromas of wild cherry, crushed stone and balsam herb. I recommend you buy this wine by the case, not the bottle. This is a lot of fun at low cost." Robert Parker

Mediterra with inviting aromas of bell pepper, red currant, sage and black pepper is round and harmonious on the palate with beautiful fruit and spice, a perfect food companion. SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright ruby garnet. In the nose in the first attack slightly grassy, then after raspberries and gooseberries, white pepper, in the reverberation after black currant, needs some air to settle down. On the palate punchy and with clear fruit, stretches slightly spicy over the tongue, nice body." Falstaff

"The 2018 Mediterra is Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot (in almost equal parts with just a little more emphasis on the richness of the Syrah). This is a versatile and very well priced Tuscan red that prizes softness, the richness of its mouthfeel and the ripeness of its blackberry and cherry aromas. Those warm fruit tones cede to mild spice, light tobacco and tilled earth. The wine is bright, bold and charming in thanks to its accessible style." Robert Parker

"The 2018 Mediterra, Poggio al Tesoro’s entry-level wine, is terrific. Fruit, floral and enticing, this mid-weight offering has plenty to give. Barbera d’Alba Superiore DOC 2018

Fontanabianca has created here an elegant and densely packed Barbera. It shows the exuberance and potential of the grape while still maintaining a reasonable degree of restraint. It is neither marmalade nor too fruity, but pampers with a fine dose of dried cherry and plum aromas, along with some Spanish cedar wood with a fine citrus note. A well-balanced drop with a beautiful final. SUPERIORE.DE

    • Gewürztraminer Alto Adige DOC 2019

      Gewürztraminer Alto Adige DOC 2019

Intense and clear bouquet, spicy and scented of roses. On the palate it has beautiful rich and aromatic fruit, but also sparkling acidity, which gives the wine tension. SUPERIORE.DE

"High perfumed with some apricot to the almond and smoke undertones. Rose buds. Medium to full body and creamy texture with some oily sensibility on the palate." James Suckling

"The Cantina Andriano (Kellerei Andrian) 2019 Alto Adige Gewürztraminer shows fragrant tones of star jasmine, summer peach and sweet almond blossom. As the wine opens in the glass, you also get some licorice and aniseed. It offers a mid-weight approach with some distant sweetness that is carefully folded into the wine's plush, mid-weight texture. The wine is fermented in stainless steel and ages on the lees for a brief six months." Robert Parker

“Alta Mora” Rosso Etna DOC 2017

Bright, bright garnet, very clear bouquet with emphatically fresh fruit notes of berries and rhubarb, elegant on the palate with well-dosed power, smooth tannin; juicy, persistent and long SUPERIORE.DE

"Coconut and hazelnut aromas mingle with ripe, dark-skinned berry aromas. Reflecting the nose, the tight palate offers toast, licorice and blackberry jam alongside tightly knit, drying tannins." Wine Enthusiast

"A compact, minerally version, with tobacco and smoke notes leading to flavors of dried cherry, pomegranate, coffee and spice. Medium-bodied and fresh, with grippy tannins that should integrate well with short cellaring." Wine Spectator

"Luminous red. Aromas of flinty red berries, red cherries and minerals have a bright floral overlay. Then very good inner-mouth perfume too, with exhilarating lift to the red fruit and stony flavors. The finish is long and clean, nicely framed by suave tannins and harmonious acidity." Vinous

"Aromas of lemon, watermelon and black cherries follow through to a medium body, firm, silky tannins and a solid, bright finish. Tighter style to this." James Suckling

"The 2017 Etna Rosso is a terrific entry-level red wine from the Sicilian volcano that boasts the power and electric charge that I associate with wines from this fascinating territory. If you are new to the wines of Etna, this Rosso is a great place to start. This is a well-made and carefully shaped Nerello Mascalese that ushers forth smaller berry fruit, smoke and pencil shavings. The fruit is pure and precise. The wine's overall presentation is sharp and accessible." Robert Parker

“Rjgialla” Friuli Colli Orientali DOC 2019

The Ribolla Gialla smells delicately and consistently of white flowers, green apples and yellow peaches. Full-bodied on the palate, the supple body reflects the characteristic features of the grape variety. The dry and spicy taste conveys pleasant freshness and pleasing aromatic richness. Elegant, light and spicy - an upbeat white wine. SUPERIORE.DE

"Pleasant nose with pineapple and floral notes that carry through to the round and juicy, medium-bodied palate, picking up a spicy note that grows through to the finish. Lots of flavor." James Suckling

"Underlining the elegant and delicate side of a variety that often produces heavier aromas of candied fruit and lemon drop, the Tunella 2019 Friuli Colli Orientali Ribolla Gialla Rjgialla is a lovely expression of the grape. Made only in stainless steel, this wine is clean and pure in terms of bouquet, with a little more power and emphasis on mouthfeel, making it a nice choice for grilled scampi. Nebbiolo Langhe DOC 2018

A Nebbiolo for purists. In the fragrance pine resin, dried fruit and essential spices. On the palate we find sweet plums, juicy cherries, robust tannins and a fine mineral acidity. This drop requires a strong food companion and is in this combination a great pleasure! SUPERIORE.DE

"Really polished and balanced with berries, cherries and spices. Hints of walnuts. Medium body. Creamy finish. A smoky note comes through." James Suckling

"The Fontanabianca 2018 Langhe Nebbiolo shows a bright and tonic vibe that makes this a good choice for dinners at home with the family. • Sirica Campania Rosso IGT 2015

      Sirica Campania Rosso IGT 2015

Sirica, from the autochthonous Campanian grape variety of the same name, fills the nose with a bouquet of cranberries, cherries, plums, a light herbal spice and violets. Full on the palate, yet velvety with beautiful fruit and spice. In the final it is elegant and at the same time complex. SUPERIORE.DE

"Made from the native Sirica grape, this young red opens with wild berry and black pepper aromas. The smooth, vibrant palate offers a great combination of fruit and spice, doling out juicy Morello cherry, crushed raspberry and clove flavors, bolstered by polished tannins." Wine Enthusiast

"Aromas of black licorice, tar and blueberry. Full body, soft and silky tannins. Very polished and fine. Drink now." James Suckling

"Sirica is the name of a grape discovered by Feudi di San Gregorio and registered by them as its own variety. It is genetically linked to Syrah, Teroldego and/or Refosco. The 2015 Sirica reveals dark ruby color saturation with garnet and purple highlights at the rim. The nose is warm and broad with dark fruit, spice, crushed black pepper and savory leather. The wine offers soft tannins and loads of generous richness. Just like Syrah, Sirica seems to love the warm vintages, like 2015. This is a full and complete red wine that I recommend with great pleasure." Robert Parker

    • Rosso di Montalcino DOC 2018

      Rosso di Montalcino DOC 2018

Bright ruby red. Very lively nose of bright berries and blackcurrant with sweet, spicy components. Crisp, yet balanced acidity on the palate with a racy mix of fresh fruit and sweet extract spice. A cool but very authentic representative of its type that never pretends to be more than it is, but brings enough to be one of the most finessed Rossi of the vintage. It is de facto a very successful wine of a pleasing purity with a clear commitment to the appellation. SUPERIORE.DE

"The Val di Suga 2018 Rosso di Montalcino is a vibrant and fun red to pull out for your next veal or vegetarian lasagna. The wine is teeming with bright berry fruit with wild raspberry and cherry. Showing balanced acidity and a snappy, lean-bodied style, this is textbook Rosso. There is a note of candied cherry and sweet spice on the close. This vintage marks significant improvements since I last visited this wine. You get good value." Robert Parker

    • "Solosole" Vermentino Bolgheri DOC 2019

      “Solosole” Vermentino Bolgheri DOC 2019

SoloSole is a West Tuscan Vermentino in pure culture and shines with a rich, full-bodied taste as well as a beautiful spiciness and acidity. A characterful and profound white from the distinguished DOC Bolgheri and one of our absolute favorites. SUPERIORE.DE

"Brilliant pale straw yellow. Shy nose, only very delicate flower paired with filigree citrus. Opens on the palate with crisp fruit, very delicate melt, slightly saline, with persistence, good food companion." Falstaff

"Long, refreshing and creamy, with layers of concentrated gooseberry, grapefruit, melon, apple and mint, finishing peachy and steely." Decanter

"I'm a huge fan of refreshing Vermentino from Coastal Tuscany, and some of the very best expressions are brought to us by the talented winemaking team at Poggio al Tesoro. The 2019 Bolgheri Vermentino Solosole is just the ticket for your beach picnic or your boat tour of the coast. This Vermentino opens to tangy and crisp aromas with citrus, white peach and spicy saffron. Dig a little deeper and you get salty mineral notes and a touch of wild sage. This wine is elaborate and textured, with creamy lean-bodied appeal." Robert Parker

"The 2019 Vermentino Solosole shows the richer side of Vermentino, as always. At the same time, there is plenty of energy and nuance. Tangerine oil, apricot and perfumed floral notes build effortlessly in the glass. Solosole has been one of the most distinctive Vermentinos on the coast since it was first released. The 2019 is another fine edition." Vinous

    • "Tradition" Gewürztraminer Alto Adige DOC 2019

“Tradition” Gewürztraminer Alto Adige DOC 2019

Bright golden yellow, intensive, multilayered fragrance, clearly of lychee and grapefruit. At the palate nice juicy fruit, first playful, then full of spices. Very fine, fresh and not too heavy Gewürztraminer. SUPERIORE.DE

"The bouquet on the 2019 Gewürztraminer Tradition is remarkably fresh and floral, yet not leaning too much on the exoticism that the variety has a tendency to show. Instead I’m finding notes of white peach and kiwi, hints of lemony citrus and spring flowers. It coats the palate with silky richness, perfectly balanced by zesty acids, as sweet spice and ripe peach comes forward. The finish is long and textural, seeming to slowly melt away, leaving a hint of minty herbs and vanilla bean." Vinous

"The 2019 Alto Adige Gewürztraminer Tradition offers a pretty, off-gold color with fragrant tones of honeysuckle, star jasmine and tropical fruit. There are heavier, glossy aromas as well that remind me of new rubber boots, saffron and even a touch of cumin. This is a beautifully rich, mid-weight expression of the fragrant Gewürztraminer grape, with some distant stickiness and sweetness." Robert Parker

    • "Borrigiano" Rosso Valdarno di Sopra DOC 2018 (BIO)

“Borrigiano” Rosso Valdarno di Sopra DOC 2018 (BIO)

Borrigiano is an enchanting cuvée that brings an ideal balance of fine and balanced wood use and fresh, lively fruit into the glass. In the nose an interesting berry aroma and some plum jam. For us, Borrigiano is an ideal companion for convivial evenings and mild pasta dishes or risottos - he shows in a charming (and affordable) way the great potential of the up-and-coming winery. SUPERIORE.DE

"This is the first wine from Il Borro to be made under the Valdarno di Sopra appellation designation (the first vintage made was 2015), and the wine's name Borrigiano means "inhabitants of the Il Borro hamlet." The 2018 Valdarno di Sopra Borrigiano is a blend of Merlot, Sangiovese and Syrah that sees a brief period of cold maceration followed by ten months of aging in large oak casks. The aim here is to keep the freshness of the fruit intact, and this goal has been readily achieved. The bouquet opens to forest berry aromas with raw plum and fresh prune. This is a terrific wine with a confident, pure and easy-drinking appeal that is nothing short of charming." Robert Parker

    • "Mamertino" Rosso Sicilia DOC 2017

      “Mamertino” Rosso Sicilia DOC 2017

Elegant cuvée with spicy aromas of black cherry, plum and white pepper and an earthy undertone. Clear in taste with hints of blackberry, the fruit always very fine, beautiful spice, including star anise, very rounded. Ends with elegance and a touch of lemon peel. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2017 Mamertino is a unique wine that represents a DOC wine appellation in Milazzo (in the northern tip of Sicily) that gets very little use as far as I can tell. The traditional blend is Nero d'Avola and Nocera, and the wine is easy in approach and execution. There's nothing too complicated here—just fresh cherry and blackberry followed by earthy tones and some subtle mineral or sea breeze nuances." Robert Parker

“Rosso dei Notri” Toscana IGT 2018

Rosso dei Notri is a solid, concentrated drop with bite and power that will give you plenty of pleasure with its fleshy, long-lasting taste, pleasant overall harmony and reasonable value. SUPERIORE.DE

"Powerful, bright ruby red. In the nose appealing notes of dark berries, fresh and powerful. At the palate a lot of supple tannin, fine-meshed, builds up well, long finish, juicy." Falstaff

"The 2018 Rosso dei Notri is an absolute delight. Once again, it is one of my favorite wines in the range. Fresh and fruity, with plenty of Suvereto fleshiness, the Rosso is such a gorgeous wine. Sweet pipe tobacco, cedar and dried flowers add aromatic nuance to a core of red Sangiovese fruit." Vinous

The 2018 is a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. Aimed at younger drinkers, it's intended to be immediately approachable: only 10% of the wine spent time in oak, and not for very long, so the emphasis is on a fruity, accessible style. The nose is delicately balanced between dark blackberries, blackcurrants and bright red berries. Juicy flavours and vivid acidity give a nice freshness to this medium-bodied wine. Decanter

"The 2018 Rosso dei Notri  is a very fresh and tonic red that surprisingly comes from fruit harvested two weeks later than normal. And Merlot is not always happy to stay on the vines for longer than it has to. It's a fruit-forward wine that was aimed more at freshness instead of concentration, making it a good pair for a simple margherita pizza. You get terrific value here." Robert Parker

"Aromas of chocolate and dark fruit with hints of blackberries, cherries and hazelnuts. Medium body, fine tannins with hints of herbs and dark fruit, and a lovely finish." James Suckling

    Things to know aboutRobert Parker
    Robert Parker

Robert M. Parker jun. (born 1947) from Maryland/USA is probably the most influential wine taster in the world. Whatever he says is published in his magazine "Wine Advocate", his judgement is accepted almost without contradiction by a huge fan community all over the world.

Robert Parker's 100-point system, which is based on American school grading, has now been adopted worldwide. For Italy, for many years, evaluated chief taster Antonio Galloni, since his progress into the independence (vinous.com) took over this area Monica Larner. She was born in California, but has lived in Italy for many years.

Larner is a certified sommelier with the Italian Sommelier Association AIS, wrote for the daily newspaper La Repubblica for a long time and then spent ten years as the Italian specialist for wine enthusiasts. She is highly regarded by Italian winegrowers and is an excellent taster. Their commitment has once again brought Parker a much better reputation in Italy. SUPERIORE.DE
