“Punggl” Pinot Grigio Alto Adige DOC 2020
The vines for Pinot Grigio Punggl thrive on soils with a high clay content south of Margreid. Bright straw yellow with a brilliant core. Spicy fruity aromas with notes of nuts, honey and fresh flowers give it elegance and charm. Full-bodied and mineral on the palate with a juicy structure and long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Plenty of red-apple and lemon-zest character make this sleek, lively pinot grigio very refreshing. Clean, rather long finish." James Suckling
"Crushed limestone, dusty yellow flowers and Granny Smith apple form an inviting bouquet as the 2020 Pinot Grigio Punggl unfolds in the glass. This places minerality before fruit yet balances its salty core with elegant, silky textures and vibrant acidity. While tapering off with persistence, the Punggl leaves behind candied citrus and a resonance of liquid stone. There’s a lot of forgettable Pinot Grigio produced in Italy, this is surely not one of them." Vinous
"This excellent co-operative’s signature Pinot Grigio comes from one of the variety’s ‘grand cru’ vineyard areas, Punggl near the village of Magreid. Fermented and aged on its lees in large 30hl barrels, the wine is ripe, round and luscious with flavours of toasted nuts and ripe pear. Such a satisfying mouthful, a classic example of the Alto Adige style." Decanter

Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2018 (BIO)
Querciabella's Riserva is a great blend of the three best Chianti sites in Greve, Radda and Gaiole. Pure elegance on all levels: Rich ruby garnet, subtle aromas of cherry, anise and tobacco, joined by notes of jasmine and violets. Pleasantly medium-bodied on the palate, ripe black cherries and herbs, very typical of this terroir. Balanced fruit, the structure is dominated by obvious, superbly integrated tannins and remarkably perfect acidity. Intense and persistent with enough extract for exciting storage potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, radiant ruby red. Slightly fleshy on the nose, lots of rich red berries, rose petal. On the palate red berries, juicy and clear, spreads fresh, slightly drying in the finish." Falstaff
"Lustrous crimson. Pure raspberry with the polish of oak, but barely noticeable. Beautiful precision on the palate with raspberry, jewel-like acidity and fine polished tannins. Gorgeous length and style." Jancis Robinson
"The 2018 Chianti Classico Riserva is a wonderfully polished and expressive wine. Dark cherry, spice, tobacco, cedar, dark cherry, leather and tobacco. Darker, virile and intense the Riserva retains the classic Querciabella mid-weight style. I imagine the 2018 will give readers two decades of very fine drinking." Vinous
"Plenty of generous Black Forest gateau richness with charming dark chocolate, cold coffee, and mocha complexity. Intense yet elegant." Decanter
"Fleeting hints of lavender and lemon verbena aromas give way to a beam of pure cherry in this sleek, intense and harmonious red. Taut, yet vibrant, with a long, lingering aftertaste of fruit, wild herbs and stony mineral elements. Excellent length." Wine Spectator
"Complex aromas of dark cherries, vanilla, flowers and lavender. It’s full-bodied with polished and very fine tannins. Very racy and intense with gorgeous length and intensity. This is really structured. From organically grown grapes. Vegan. It needs a year or two to soften, but very serious. Try after 2023." James Suckling

“Il Sangiovese” Sangiovese Predappio Romagna DOC 2020
Successful interpretation of the Romagna identity, which is especially appreciated by wine lovers of leaner, Burgundy-like wines. Brilliant ruby red. Classic, traditional, lively and spicy on the palate, but always balanced, elegant and subtle rather than bold. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2020 Il Sangiovese opens slowly to show notes of wet stone, peppery herbs, roses and freshly sliced plum. It’s silky in texture, fleshing out across the palate with a wave of ripe red and black berries tinged with sweet violet and mineral tones. This leaves a staining of blue and purple-tinged fruits and minerals, as it finishes with incredible persistence and lightly structured. Give the 2020 a little time to open in the glass or bottle to allow its bouquet to fully blossom." Vinous
"The Predappio zone is known for Sangiovese wines with depth and structure yet refined elegance too. Marco Cirese chose nine hectares of his best-suited, highest plots with the oldest vines for his micro-project rooted in local identity. Steel and concrete draw out the purest expression of the terroir. Lively and shimmering on the nose, this has an acidic backbone supporting smooth, silky tannins. Streamlined, characterful, savoury and immensely enjoyable in long, tempting sips." Decanter
"Smooth and polished, this offers aromas of ripe red berries, blue flowers and eucalyptus. Savory and so easy to drink, the fresh palate features juicy Morello cherry, cassis and star anise accompanied by lithe tannins." Wine Enthusiast

Noras displays a rich bouquet of crushed blackberries, plums, smoke and brown sugar, underpinned by minty herbal notes. The texture is velvety, with a polished feel to its red and black fruits and a bittersweet hint of coffee and balsamic spices. Hints of tobacco and liquorice linger on the long, structured final. Noras needs a little time to fully develop in the glass, but it is worth the wait and gives us plenty of pleasure. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sweet plum and mulberry aromas with scents of coconut and damson. Lovely freshness, sinewy palate." Decanter

“Mongrana” Rosso Maremma Toscana DOC 2019 (BIO)
This fabulous cuvée of Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet comes from Querciabella's Maremma vineyard. Charming bouquet with notes of tobacco and leather, which then give way to ripe fruit. The harmonious taste is finely fruity, intense and fresh. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red. Inviting nose of crisp cherries and a delicate hint of cranberries, underpinned by a hint of light spice. Juicy and straightforward on the palate, opens on great violet fruit, shows harmoniously spicy with nice crisp drinking flow, great food companion." Falstaff
"Ripe damson and plum on the nose with white pepper and wild berries undertones. Firm but well-managed tannins, long finish." Decanter
"This is soft and juicy with a lovely, velvety texture and plenty of berry and currant flavors. Hints of chocolate, too. It's medium-to full-bodied with serious structure and a flavorful finish." James Suckling

Chianti Classico DOCG 2019
Dark, strong ruby. Opulent bouquet of sweet cherry, blackberries and plums. Full and juicy body with a present fruit, soft, finely woven tannins and a medium-bodied, almost elegant finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby with a fine garnet rim. Appealing, multi-layered nose, smells of mulberries, juicy cherries and pomegranate, some cardamom. Polished and fine on the palate, spreads well, elegant, present tannin, lots of crisp fruit, good depth." Falstaff
"Lustrous mid ruby with orange tinges. Quite a bit of depth on the nose and with the merest hint of oak, but really subtly done. Succulent fruit palate with lots of gravelly tannins. Long and finely balanced." Jancis Robinson
"Lots of glossy, ripe fruits. Quite polished but with good buttressing acidity. Red jam, spice, and an earthy core." Decanter
"A very pleasant CC here with lots of succulent, ripe berries, blackcurrants and black cherries on both the nose and palate. Super-clean fruit with light hints of dried herbs and lavender coming through. The round, very fine tannins are ripe and well meshed together with the fruit, giving a nicely balanced finish. Delicious." James Suckling

“Zisola” Rosso Sicilia Noto DOC 2019
Zisola, from the eponymous winery of the Mazzei family in Sicily, is an exceptionally well-made single-varietal Nero d'Avola. Elegantly shining ruby red with a gently lightening rim. In the flattering fruit bouquet, ripe forest berries and rose hips, lightly reminiscent of blood orange with a hint of cocoa. Juicy and clear on the palate with hearty red fruit, powerful and soft on the final. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red. In the nose of cranberries, oranges, cherries, gentle spice in the aftertaste. On the palate with red berry fruit, compact body, hearty, slightly consuming tannin in the final." Falstaff
"Fresh, sweet ripe cherry aromas with a nice herbal quality seasoned by almond and spices. Racy acidity on the palate." Decanter
"The 2019 Noto Rosso is youthfully poised yet very pretty, showing peppery florals, wet stone, black currants and smoke. This is silky in texture with motivating acidity and a cooling blend of savory herbs and tart wild berries. There’s a density and concentration here that is currently held in check by fine tannins, as the 2019 finishes incredibly long, resonating on dark fruits and hints of licorice. Give this a year or two of cellaring to show its best." Vinous
"Brimming with red and black berries, this is an attractively fresh and dry, medium-bodied Sicilian red with touches of licorice and black tea. Rather long, pleasantly dry finish." James Suckling
"The Zisola 2019 Sicilia Noto Zisola is a pure expression of Nero d'Avola from Noto, one of the most beautiful corners of Sicily, with Baroque architecture expressed in white limestone. The wine shows a sweet side that is carried forth by ripe cherry and dried raspberry. This vintage is focused on the fruity side of this mighty Sicilian grape and less so on the earthy or savory tones that you sometimes get with Nero d'Avola. You could pair it with any Southern Italian pasta with tomato sauce, especially a recipe with fried eggplant and shaved ricotta salata." Robert Parker

The British Decanter plays in the league of the best and most widely read wine magazines in the world and has developed into England's leading trade magazine for international wines and spirits since its foundation in 1975. And although the Decanter is still only published in English, it is read by novices and wine professionals in over 90 countries.
The monthly issues look behind the scenes of the wine industry and offer recommendations of the wines that stand out positively in comparison with the international competition. As part of the annual Decanter World Wine Awards, over 15,000 wines from around the world are tasted blind for an entire week in London, giving the judges significantly more time to make their assessments compared to similar tasting competitions.
The rating of the best wines was long based on the concept of the British wine critic Michael Broadbent, who has shaped Decanter magazine since its beginnings. Today, they rate according to the strict 20- and 100-point procedures, for which all submitted wines are divided according to country, region, colour, grape variety, style, vintage and price. The panel of experts includes expert wine writers such as Jancis Robinson and numerous top sommeliers who decide on the awards and medals, which is why the Decanter World Wine Award is also one of the most influential competitions in the wine world for many wine producers.
