Dolcetto d’Alba DOC 2020
Strong ruby red colour and fresh fruity aroma. A clean, almost untouched wine that is produced entirely without the use of wood. The full, beautifully rounded taste with the slight bitter almond note in the finish is solely due to the special characteristics of the Dolcetto grape. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2020 Dolcetto d'Alba is fresh, bright and nicely lifted. In this vintage, the Dolcetto is aromatic and medium in body. The combination of the year and a stylistic shift yielded an especially classic Dolcetto that will come as a shock to anyone who has been following the estate since the 2000s, give or take, when this wine was usually opulent and dense. Red cherry/plum and floral accents linger." Vinous

“Valmaggiore” Nebbiolo d’Alba DOC 2019
This Nebbiolo comes from one of the best sites in Roero and is vinified by Luciano Sandrone with the same care as a Barolo. Radiant ruby garnet. Wonderful aroma of light red fruit, mainly raspberry and cherry. Then earthy on the palate with a beautiful strawberry touch and an incredible amount of elegance. The fine-grained tannin is wonderfully integrated and, together with a subtle minerality, gives this Nebbiolo a race and finesse that is unparalleled. SUPERIORE.DE
"Cherry, strawberry, raspberry and earth flavors highlight this intense red. There is a beam of fruit backed by a spine of dense tannins. Nice, lingering finish. Best from 2023 through 2030." Wine Spectator
"The Luciano Sandrone 2019 Nebbiolo d'Alba Valmaggiore is a beautiful expression of this mighty red grape from the north of Italy. The Valmaggiore vineyard in Roero offers a spicy and accessible interpretation with plenty of wild cherry and blue flower. This vintage also offers pretty layer of crushed white peppercorn. You get terrific complexity and a very food-friendly ensemble at a competitive price." Robert Parker
"The 2019 Nebbiolo d'Alba Valmaggiore is a bright, sculpted wine that is going to need a few years to come into its own. Bright acids and firm tannins are a bit present today, so a few years of cellaring are a must. The Sandrone Valmaggiore has a track record of aging well. I expect that will be the case here as well." Barolo “Le Vigne” DOCG 2014
The bouquet opens wide with aromas of fresh red fruits and a delicate spicy note. On the palate very intense, remarkably elegant, fine-grained tannins, extremely clear, structured and long. Magnificent! SUPERIORE.DE
"Brilliant, intense ruby garnet. Complex and dense nose, with truffle, some liquorice, then a lot of plum and blackberry. Juicy at the base, well worked out fruit, dense tannin, but dries a little in the back, can tolerate further storage." Falstaff
"Fragrant, exuding floral, cherry, raspberry and spice notes, with fruit and spice flavors to match. Elements of tar and underbrush sneak in as the muscular structure asserts itself on the long finish. Elegant overall." Wine Specator
"Luciano Sandrone and his daughter Barbara tell me that the 2014 harvest needs explaining. Many are quick to dismiss it given the difficulties of the growing season that saw abundant rain, hail and bombe d'acqua, or "water bombs," which are a dangerous phenomenon with intense rainfall in a very small radius. But hard work does pay off. The Sandrone family employed 38 people for farming, when the average harvest requires only 22 pairs of vineyard hands. Great care was required to keep the leaves and the clusters healthy. The 2014 Barolo le Vigne is bright and fruit-forward. It is perhaps more accessible in the near term compared to past editions. It delivers dark fruit nuances over a mid-weight and compact mouthfeel." Robert Parker
"Red berry, dried rose petal, exotic spice, menthol and a whiff of underbrush take shape in the glass. On the youthfully tense but focused palate, taut refined tannins and vibrant acidity frame raspberry, strawberry, star anise and a hint of espresso. It's already delicious but this shows wonderful aging potential, so hold for even more complexity." Wine Enthusiast
"Beautiful aromas of licorice, tar and black cherries following through to a full body. A powerful palate with dense fruit. Chewy and intense. Needs two or three years to soften. A triumph for the vintage." James Suckling
"The 2014 Barolo Le Vigne once again shows the wisdom of blending fruit from different sites. If there is a vintage where blending has the potential to be the difference-maker, 2014 is it. So it is hardly surprising to find the 2014 Le Vigne in such great shape. The red cherry jam, mint, cedar and floral notes are all finely sketched. Medium in body and classy, the 2014 is beautifully textured and inviting from start to finish. All the elements are simply in the right place. Vineyard sources are Merli, Vignane, Villero and Baudana." Antonio Galloni

Barolo “Aleste” DOCG 2014
"This is our flagship wine, a Barolo recognized the world over, which we have always nourished and cared for with greatest respect. Nothing wants change. This is why I will dedicate this special wine to my grandchildren Alessia and Stefano. From now on, it will carry their names." Luciano Sandrone on his intention to rename his world-famous Barolo Cannubi Boschis "Aleste" in 2013.
This Barolo is in every respect a masterpiece of Luciano Sandrone. Not only historical product but also only Cru of the house from the famous area Cannubi in Barolo. Rich ruby, balsamic bouquet, ripe and sweet. On the palate with great smoothness, much fruit, denser tannins, very persistent finale with Burgundian elegance. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling ruby with a garnet shimmer. Fine and fragrant nose with notes of ripe, dark cherries and plums, in the background cloves and cinnamon. Fine-meshed, polished tannin on the palate, spreading very clear and straight, juicy, long aftertaste, with hints of cranberries." Falstaff
"Aleste used to be known as Cannubi Boschis, its vineyard of origin, but has been renamed in honour of Luciano Sandrone's grandchildren Alessia and Stefano. The nose is a model of refinement and purity, with ripe and intense red fruits. Although medium-bodied, it's threaded with fine tannins and good acidity. This spicy, lively and long tonneaux-aged wine is no blockbuster, but should age well." Decanter
"A firm and silky red with plum and berry character. Hints of spices and dark chocolate, too. Medium to full body. Powerful and structured. Needs three or four years to soften." James Suckling
"This is the second year Aleste is produced instead of Cannubi Boschis, however the grapes are exactly the same. The 2014 Barolo Aleste is named after Luciano Sandrone's grandchildren Alessia and Stefano. The 2014 is still wound up and will require extra time to find its footing. The Sandrone family lost 25% of their fruit production in this challenging harvest. The wine offers fragrant notes of wild cherry and cassis with smoke, crushed stone and candied orange peel. The tannins are firm and textured. It is the palate (more than the nose) that requires more time to soften." Robert Parker
"The 2014 Barolo Aleste is a wine of exquisite finesse and grace. Soft, understated and classy, it is a terrific example of the vintage at its best. Bright red cherry and red plum fruit give the wine its vibrant feel. In 2014, the Aleste is decidedly medium-bodied and restrained, especially compared to recent past vintages. Readers should keep in mind that Aleste is the new name for the Cannubi Boschis Barolo." Antonio Galloni
"The cherry and strawberry aromas are tinged by hay and tobacco notes. On the palate, the core of fruit is joined by a chorus of herb, tobacco and underbrush flavors. Aggressively tannic now, but well-proportioned and long." Wine Specator
"Dried rose, blue flower, aromatic herb, wild berry and a whiff of pipe tobacco are just some of the aromas you'll find on this stunning red. It's elegant and structured, delivering raspberry compote, crushed strawberry, cinnamon and star anise framed in bright acidity and firm fine-grained tannins. It has fantastic tension and energy, and promises to age well for years." Wine Enthusiast

Barolo “Le Vigne” DOCG 2017
The grapes for the deep Le Vigne come from Baudana in Serralunga d'Alba (for power), Villero in Castiglione Falletto (for precision), Vignane in Barolo (for purity of aromas) and Merli in Novello (for richness of fruit). It opens wide with aromas of fresh red fruits and a delicate spicy note. Very intense on the palate, remarkably elegant, fine-grained tannins, exceedingly clear, structured and long. SUPERIORE.DE
"Already in the fragrance with warming character, in addition with clear and playful-sweet fruit; robust and yet charming, very present tannin, which also comes from the wood, powerful appearance and still youthful." Weinwisser
"Powerful, bright ruby with a pronounced garnet rim. Very intense and inviting nose of truffle, rose and leather, then lots of plum, some liquorice. Juicy and full in attack and course, shows lots of ripe red berry fruit, firm, very well integrated tannin, has firm pressure in the final, very good drinking flow." Falstaff
"Just mid ruby. Gorgeous ripe red-fruit nose with a peppery edge and minerally hints of iron. Just a hint of savoury oak, but very much in the background. Lots of juice on the palate and with bags of powdery but perfectly ripe tannins. Very long sour-cherry and cranberry finish with real depth." Jancis Robinson
"Bright cherry, plum, leather, tar and underbrush flavors are the highlights of this solid red. A firm grip of tannins lines the finish, but not before the fruit builds nicely. Fine freshness, balance and length." Wine Spectator
"The 2017 Barolo Le Vigne is rich, pliant and so expressive. Even so, I imagine it will need a few years to open up fully. Bright red fruit, rose petal, blood orange and spice give the 2017 its distinctly red-toned profile. Elegant and translucent, the 2017 is very nicely balanced." Vinous
"Opulent and very sexy with perfume, cedar, dried flowers and dried strawberries and just a hint of nutmeg. It’s medium-to full-bodied with round and finely velvety tannins and a flavorful finish. So seductive." James Suckling
"Fragrant and delicious, this gorgeous wine opens with inviting aromas of rose, sandalwood, camphor and perfumed berry alongside whiffs of truffle and French oak. The full-bodied palate combines elegance and structure, featuring ripe Morello cherry, crushed raspberry, licorice and a dollop of vanilla alongside firm, refined tannins. It's already tempting but hold for more complexity." Wine Enthusiast

Limitation of 3 articles per customer“Valmaggiore Sibi et Paucis” Nebbiolo d’Alba Riserva DOC 2015 · MAGNUM in OWC
For some years now, Luciano has been holding back a small quantity of his Nebbiolo Valmaggiore and letting it mature further in the bottle in his cellar. The result is called "Sibi et Paucis", which impressively underpins the cult status of his "little Barolo".
Valmaggiore (Riserva) 2015 shows a full and robust bouquet of dried blackberries and plums. The colour of the wine is slightly lighter with beautiful ruby reflections, the warm vintage brings a lot of substance, a multi-dimensional fruit, liquorice and white smoke into the glass. The final then has a very finely woven tannin and an almost supple texture that clearly confirms what the Nebbiolo grape is capable of after a few years of bottle ageing. SUPERIORE.DE
"From the late release series "sibi et paucis". Very nice vintage comparison with the 2016. Both are admittedly still at the beginning of their development, the 2015 is a tad denser and more floral-spicy and a tad further in its development. In addition to the wonderful floral shades, the finest red berries, light heart cherries as well as strawberries and raspberries show through. Subtle yet also melting palate, smoky, mineral accents with wild berry flavours, polished yet gripping tannin." Weinwisser
"The 2015 Nebbiolo d'Alba Valmaggiore Sibi et Paucis is a classy, polished wine. Crushed red cherry fruit, anise, spice, mint, cedar, sweet pipe tobacco and incense are all beautifully lifted. In 2015, the Valmaggiore has a bit more richness than is often the case, but that is not at all a bad thing. Once more Luciano Sandrone has created a gorgeous wine from this Roero vineyard." Vinous
"This late-release wine takes us back in time to a beautifully sunny and warm vintage. The Luciano Sandrone 2015 Nebbiolo d'Alba Valmaggiore Sibi et Pauci hit all the right marks and is drinking beautifully at this point in time. The wine reveals an ideal mix of primary and tertiary aromas, with dried cherry and plum backed by crushed flowers, licorice and smoke. Enjoy it with a typical Piedmont tajarin and shaved truffles." This is why I will dedicate this special wine to my grandchildren Alessia and Stefano. From now on, it will carry their names." This Barolo is a masterpiece by Luciano Sandrone in every respect. Not only a historic product but also the only cru of the house from the renowned Cannubi area in Barolo. Rich ruby, balsamic bouquet, ripe and sweet. On the palate with great suppleness, lots of fruit, dense tannins, very persistent final with Burgundian elegance. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, intense ruby garnet. Seductive nose with rich notes of leather, ripe plums with deep yellow flesh, rosewood, some liquorice in the background. Hearty and gripping on the palate, spreads out richly, powerful body, lots of gripping, compact tannin." Falstaff
"Lustrous mid ruby. Still a little compact but already showing great depth of fruit with hints of fresh mint, iron and oatmeal. Gorgeous juicy, full, red fruit with a rich layer of powdery tannins. Still a little embryonic, but sensationally balanced for this challenging year." Jancis Robinson
"Balsamic aromas and flavors of mint, eucalyptus and sage dominate the cherry and berry notes in this linear red. There is a contradiction and tension now between its graceful entry and dense, muscular finish. Nonetheless, this is long and finds an equilibrium in the end." Wine Spectator
"The 2017 Barolo Aleste is a dark, ample wine. Dark cherry, plum, new leather, spice and licorice bring out darker tones of Nebbiolo. All the natural power of these parcels come through effortlessly. Best of all, the 2017 will drink well with minimal cellaring." Vinous
"The purity and brightness of nebbiolo is so impressive here. Strawberries and blue fruit abound. Full-bodied, yet tight and very polished with a long, persistent finish. Very transparent and appealing." James Suckling
"Aromas of menthol, pressed rose, wild berry and grilled herb are front and center in this stunning wine along with a whiff of forest floor. Combining structure and finesse, the savory, full-bodied palate delivers juicy Marasca cherry, blood orange and licorice before an espresso finish. Firm, refined tannins provide tight support." Le Vigne is a splendid Barolo of Sandrone. The bouquet opens wide with aromas of fresh red fruits and a delicate spicy note. On the palate very intense, remarkably elegant, fine-grained tannins, extremely clear, structured and long. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling, intense ruby with a garnet edge. Clear and intense nose, after ripe cherries, fine blackberry, some orange compote. Velvety and round in the base and course, builds up in many layers, much fine-meshed tannin, very polished, long reverberation, a great pleasure! Falstaff
"Delicate, mature color, little orange rim. Delicate and delicate also in the fragrance, with seductive sweetness and fine wood nuances as well as graphite; deep herb spice with fine, ripe fruit. Very broad in the mouth, multi-layered and balanced, very melty in the base, with noble tannins. On the other hand, it is Burgundian and delicate, with a fine-grained tannin structure, long and red berry clear in the aftertaste." Weinwisser
"Purity of fruit and balance here is very impressive. Firm and very silky tannins with a long, long finish that gives the wine amazing depth and intensity. Love the spicy and dense fruit character at the end of the palate." James Suckling
"A hint of oak lends this a spicy component, along with cherry, licorice and tar flavors. Racy and bright, with fine intensity and a long, tightly wound finish that seems to go on forever. Shows beautiful purity and class." Wine Spectator
"The Luciano Sandrone 2012 Barolo le Vigne shows the trademark ripeness that I so often identify in this historic product. The bouquet is round and plush with thick layers of dark cherry marmalade, blackberry preserves and dark currant. Beyond those apparent fruit aromas, Le Vigne offers dark spice and licorice with a beautiful menthol signature on the finish. The wine's natural structure is padded by soft tannins and lush fruit consistency." Robert Parker

"This is our flagship wine, a Barolo recognized the world over, which we have always nourished and cared for with greatest respect. Nothing will change. This is why I will dedicate this special wine to my grandchildren Alessia and Stefano. From now on, it will carry their names." Luciano Sandrone on his intention to rename his world-famous Barolo Cannubi Boschis "Aleste" with the 2013 vintage.

"Lightening Ruby Garnet. Very finely drawn, stimulating nose with notes of strawberry and raspberry, spicy forest honey in the background. On the palate it builds up nicely, in the front area present fruit, then unfolds with full-bodied, rich tannin. Falstaff
"Tasted blind. Deep ruby. Concentrated and a little opulent with lots of ripe fruit on the nose. Lots of tangy fruit on the palate striking a near-perfect balance with the long, grainy tannins. Embryonic and arresting." Jancis Robinson
"Aromas of dried flowers and sweet berries follow through to a full body, very firm and chewy tannins and a long, flavorful finish." James Suckling
"Rose and juniper aromas lead off, settling this red into pure flavors of floral, cherry, strawberry, sun-warmed hay, licorice and mineral. Linear and firm, yet classy and elegant, this tightens up on the finish." Wine Spectator
"There is more purple and black fruit in the 2015 Barolo Aleste compared to past vintages from Luciano Sandrone and also fewer of those floral accents that characterize the Cannubi Boschis where this fruit comes from. All the same, the bouquet comes off equally as intense and as generous as ever, if not more so. This wine also seems ready from an aromatic point of view, even if it needs some extra time to reverberate in the mouth. It is compact and firm, with good, meaty fruit, and it's refreshingly expansive in scope." Robert Parker
"Sandrone's 2015 Barolo Aleste is a total stunner. Succulent dark cherry, plum, mocha, lavender and spice are all beautifully framed by ripe, silky tannins. Creamy, resonant and super-expressive, the 2015 Aleste hits all the right notes. Next to Le Vigne, Aleste is more typical of what readers might expect from a warm year. It is a gorgeous Barolo from the Sandrone family." Vinous
"Woodland berry, iris, menthol and star anise aromas slowly take shape on this elegantly structured, savory red. Enveloping and delicious, the focused palate delivers raspberry compote, dried black cherry, licorice and cinnamon alongside polished, fine-grained tannins. Fresh acidity lends tension and keeps it balanced." Wine Enthusiast

Barolo “Le Vigne” DOCG 2017 · MAGNUM in OWC

Firm, refined tannins provide tight support." For a few years now, Luciano has been holding back a small quantity of his Barolo Le Vigne and allowing it to mature further in bottle in his cellar. The result is called "Sibi et Paucis", the impressive and rare opportunity to experience the magnificent ageing potential of his great Baroli.
The 2011 Barolo Le Vigne (Riserva) is an opulent and well-formed wine with a fine cherry-like softness and roundness that you don't get in the Barolo Cannubi Boschis. Le Vigne delivers an unexpected additional touch of opulence that fits the historic profile of the Nebbiolo grape and, for all its directness, it has the inner grace and incipient balance for further positive development in the cellar. SUPERIORE.DE
"From a hot and dry vintage that saw dusty winds blowing up through the Mediterranean and spreading particles of sand from Africa, this wine shows open-knit appeal with loose texture and lots of dark fruit intensity. The Luciano Sandrone 2011 Barolo Le Vigne Sibi et Paucis pours from the bottle with rich and velvety intensity, followed by dried cherry, blackberry, spice, leather and tar." Robert Parker
"This shows real clarity and precision of fruit and fine tannins. The bark and mushroom character is fascinating, but the extended character of wet earth adds to the whole experience. It's so long and refined, yet muscular. Just starting to open now. Fantastic." James Suckling

For a few years now, Luciano has been holding back a small quantity of his Barolo Cannubi Boschis and allowing it to mature further in bottle in his cellar. The result is called "Sibi et Paucis", the impressive and rare opportunity to experience the magnificent ageing potential of his great Baroli.
Barolo Cannubi Boschis (Riserva) 2011 from Luciano Sandrone is one of the protagonists of the vintage. Taut and firm, it shows the potential for enormous depth and dimension with dark fruits, spices, liquorice and white truffle. Tasting the other matured vintages of Sandrone, it is obvious that they perform exceptionally well in warm years like 2011. With the years of maturity, it has developed dazzlingly and will continue to present itself in full grace and power for at least another 10 years. SUPERIORE.DE
"From the late release series "sibi et paucis". Finely matured fragrance with delicately candied wild berries, cherries and shimmering ethereal-balsamic notes, wonderfully floral-spicy with leather, herbs and truffle. Powerfully ripe in the mouth with a gripping, finesse-rich style and grippy, ripe tannin texture, plus a distinctive herbal spiciness. An extraordinarily exciting and complex wine." Weinwisser
"Dark red fruit with dried strawberries and sliced plums on the nose, as well as some dried fruit and cedar. Full-bodied and very chewy for a Cannubi. Tannic and powerful. Very old-style. Muscular." James Suckling

Barolo “Vite Talin” DOCG 2014
Intense ruby red with garnet reflections. In the bouquet red berries, spices and a cornucopia of further aromas, which open up only with further oxygenation. On the palate fleshy, juicy, powerful and extremely precise and structured. At today's still very young age, one can only guess what it will become in further years of bottle maturity. A monument of wine - already today - the tannins soft, multilayered and captivating. This is the archetype of a Nebbiolo, which impressively demonstrates to every friend of the grape variety that it is not necessarily always the vineyard but also the quality of the grape and the subsequent wise vinification that makes it a real red and unforgettable royal wine of Italy. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, intense ruby with garnet rim. Very compact nose of blackberry, blueberry and some truffle. Plucky and dense on the palate, concentrated tannin, lush fruit, lots of plum and cherry, deep and earthy final." Falstaff
"The 2014 Barolo Vite Talin is robust, with broad shoulders and beautiful aromas of spice and herbs. There is a fullness and generosity to its meaty notes, while it shows a more rustic side when put side by side with the 2015: The tannins here make their presence well known, and the wine has a wild side overall. The Vite Talin is a wine that has a way of responding to difficult harvests like this one. The grapes survived for a reason, and what you get here is not your classic approach to Barolo at all. This expression explores new boundaries, and it will be a hard wine to forget. This Barolo was born following 25 years of experimentation, and only 2,200 precious bottles were made." Robert Parker
"The 2014 Barolo Vite Talin is shaping up to be one of the wines of the vintage. A powerful, unctuous wine, it possesses off-the-charts intensity married with striking nuance. Dark red cherry jam, plum, lavender, spice, rose petal and mint are some of the many nuances that flesh out. In 2014, the Vite Talin is a wine of extraordinary finesse, nuance and classicism. It will spend two years in 500-liter barrels and a third year in cask. Tasting the 2014, I can only wonder why the other Barolos don't get the same élevage. I won't be surprised if the 2014 one day surpasses the 2013 - it is every bit that thrilling. Wow!" Vinous

Barolo “Vite Talin” DOCG 2015
Vite Talin was first "born" in 2013 and the story goes back to 1987, when Luciano Sandrone found a vine in one of his vineyards whose grapes were barely half the size of the other plants around it. Luciano decided to grow several shoots from this plant and distributed them among three of his vineyards. Today, in its third vintage, Vite Talin is still probably the most spectacular red in the entire Barolo appellation, with a total production of just 2,000 bottles.
Vite Talin is almost indescribable, it is a paragon of the opposites of transparency and power - and an unprecedented expression of a Barolo that cannot be compared with the usual standards of the region. Its complexity, the never-ending reverberation and the linear intensity and at the same time extreme fineness on all levels require a very intensive study of this wine, which is ultimately rewarded in the most excellent way.
Intense ruby red with garnet reflections. On the nose, red berries, spices and a cornucopia of other aromas that only reveal themselves with further oxygenation. Fleshy, juicy, powerful and extremely precise and structured on the palate. At today's still very young age, one can only guess what it will become in further years of bottle ageing. A monument of wine - already today - the tannins soft, complex and captivating. This is the archetype of a Nebbiolo, which impressively demonstrates to every friend of the grape variety that it is not necessarily always the location, but also the quality of the grape and the subsequent wise vinification that makes it a real red and unforgettable royal wine of Italy. SUPERIORE.DE
"Intense shiny ruby garnet. Multi-layered nose of dark rose petals, ripe plum and wild raspberry, plus a fine liquorice note, exciting. Hearty and gripping on the palate, a lot of dense, grippy tannin, builds up for a long time, juicy fruit, reverberates for a very long time, full pressure, very much development potential." Falstaff
"Complex aromas of dried strawberries, iron, mushrooms and dried flowers follow through to a full yet very tight and reserved body with racy, firm tannins that are energetic. Still needs time to soften." James Suckling
"The 2015 Barolo Vite Talin has really shut down since I tasted it last year, which is probably a very good thing for its long-term prospects. Radiant and lush on the palate, the 2015 marries fruit intensity with structure to great effect. Far from an easygoing Barolo, the 2015 is going to need the better part of a decade to be at its best and most expressive; but still, the 2015 is super impressive today." Vinous
"A dense, muscular red, saturated with plum, cherry, licorice, menthol and iron flavors. The burly tannins gain the upper hand on the finish for now, yet this shows balance and the freshness and structure should develop beautifully." Wine Spectator
"You'll have to wait until 2021 for this release, but it absolutely will reward your patience. What an exceptionally fine creation this is, the 2015 Barolo Vite Talin. It is soft and generous, with great concentration, and the dark fruit shows more fleshiness in the mouth. The tannins have become softer in the 2015 edition. While the 2014 could be described as wild and robust with its spicy, herbal and meaty notes, this Barolo Vite Talin is all about elegance. It is simply beautiful, a feather in any cellar's cap. A mere 2,200 bottles were made." Robert Parker
"Camphor, pressed rose, red berries, dried botanical herbs and a whiff of fruitcake are just some of the aromas you'll find on this drop-dead gorgeous wine. Full-bodied and focused, the compelling palate shows mesmerizing tension, structure and finesse, delivering ripe Marasca cherry, raspberry compote, cinnamon and licorice before a tobacco finish. Noble tannins and fresh acidity provide ample support and balance. Drink 2023–2045." Wine Enthusiast

Barolo “Le Vigne” DOCG 2017 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

They are indisputably among the best in the entire Barolo growing region: the wines of Luciano Sandrone. The winemaker, who is regarded as a dynamic innovator, learned the art of winemaking as an oenologist at Marchesi di Barolo. In 1970, he acquired his first vineyard. Seven years later, Sandrone bought a first section of the Cannubi hill and began to press grape juice from his own grapes. One could call the winemaker a modernist among traditionalists, as he opted for shorter maceration and maturation times, but also partly for new barrels.
Luciano Sandrone - supported by daughter Barbara as well as his brother and vineyard manager Luca - succeeds in giving the Barolo site wines a power and character that goes beyond purely oenological aspects. The style is very personal and highly recognisable. Power and elegance enter into a harmonious symbiosis, the typical taste is recognisable very early on. Nevertheless, the noble wines from the house of Sandrone are very profound and long-lasting. The work in the vineyard is done organically. The family has not had the method of cultivation certified, as they do not want to be suspected of only wanting to swim along on the organic wave.
All vineyards or parcels are first vinified individually and only later blended if necessary. Both Cannubi Boschis and Le Vigne are matured for two years in 500-litre barrels only, after being left to stand for around ten days. Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto are matured in the same way, only with shorter barrel ageing.
The new company headquarters built in 1998 at the foot of the Cannubi hill is characterised by its practicality, environmental friendliness and careful execution down to the last detail. Shortly before the turn of the millennium, Sandrone also began to build up a stock of older vintages with the three wines Nebbiolo d'Alba Valmaggiore, Barolo Le Vigne and Barolo Cannubi Boschis. These wines are sold in strictly limited quantities under the name "sibi et paucis". They bear a stamp that documents that the wines have been stored for at least ten years under optimal conditions. "Luciano Sandrone's winery is undeniably one of the world's best-known and most respected brands of quality wine. Starting with the famous Barolo Cannubi Boschis in 1989 and 1990, the house's history of fame has known no standstill." Gambero Rosso
