But hard work does pay off. The Sandrone family employed 38 people for farming, when the average harvest requires only 22 pairs of vineyard hands. Luciano Sandrone on his intention to rename his world-famous Barolo Cannubi Boschis "Aleste" in 2013.

      This Barolo is in every respect a masterpiece of Luciano Sandrone. Not only historical product but also only Cru of the house from the famous area Cannubi in Barolo. Rich ruby, balsamic bouquet, ripe and sweet. On the palate with great smoothness, much fruit, denser tannins, very persistent finale with Burgundian elegance. SUPERIORE.DE

    They are undisputedly among the best in the entire Barolo area: the wines of Luciano Sandrone. The winemaker, considered a dynamic innovator, learned the art of wine making as an oenologist at Marchesi di Barolo. In 1970 he bought his first vineyard. Seven years later Sandrone bought the first part of the Cannubi Hill and began to press grape juices from his own grapes. The winemaker could be described as a modernist among the traditionalists, as he opted for shorter maceration and ripening times, but also partly for new barrels.

    Luciano Sandrone - supported by his daughter Barbara and his brother and vineyard manager Luca - succeeds in giving the Barolo site wines a strength and character that go beyond purely oenological aspects. The style is very personal and highly recognizable. Power and elegance enter a harmonious symbiosis, the typical taste is recognizable very early. Nevertheless, the noble drops from Sandrone are very deep and long-lasting. The work in the vineyard is done biologically and organically. The family has not had the type of farming certified because they do not want to be suspected of only wanting to swim on the bio wave. All vineyard hills or parcels are first vinified individually and only later possibly blended.

    Built in 1998, the new company headquarters at the foot of the Cannubi hill is characterised by its practicality, environmental friendliness and meticulous attention to detail. Shortly before the turn of the millennium, Sandrone also began to stock older vintages with the three wines Nebbiolo d'Alba Valmaggiore, Barolo Le Vigne and Barolo Cannubi Boschis. These plants come under the name of "sibi et paucis" strictly limited in the sale. They bear a stamp which documents that the wines have been stored under optimal conditions for at least ten years. Both the Cannubi Boschis and the Le Vigne ripen two years after a ten-day service life in 500-litre tons. Barbera and Dolcetto are matured in the same way. SUPERIORE.DE
