“Crognolo” Rosso Toscana IGT 2021 (BIO)
Crognolo is a wonderfully balanced wine, offering the tangy freshness and acidity of Sangiovese, balanced and softened by the small amount of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine smells of cherry, blackberry and plum. Its primary intensity is bright and cheerful. The finish shows a nice density, extraction and well-integrated tannins. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2021 Crognolo is a gorgeous entry-level offering from Sette Ponti. A burst of red/purplish fruit, blood orange, spice and rose petals races across the palate, lifted by bright acids that confer energy. All the elements are very nicely balanced. This is such an inviting wine." Vinous
"Dusty, perfumed aromas of spiced plum with sour and dried cherry are followed in the mouth by a vertical palate full of fine-grained tannins, fresh acidity and sapid fruit. It feels poised and coiled, ready to leap into action as soon as the cork is pulled. Vibrant red and black fruits mingle, cut by some salinity and supported by those tannins. The finish is long, sapid and moreish, leaving you wanting another sip." Decanter
"This young red reveals all its components in the right place, yet needs time to integrate. Offers cherry, violet, earth, iron and mint flavors that give way to serious tannins on the strapping finish." Wine Spectator
"Bright ruby violet. Expressive, of blackberries and rich cherries, fine spicy components in the background. Compact, concentrated on the palate, with grippy tannin which also becomes juicy, salty in the finish." Falstaff
"The purity of fruit is impressive in this wine with currants, orange peel, peaches and lemon in the nose and on the palate. Full-bodied yet compressed and agile. Flavorful finish. Reserved now, but if you give it a year or two it will really deliver." James Suckling

“Vigna dell’Impero 1935” Rosso Val d’Arno di Sopra DOC 2015
The Sangiovese grapes of this wine come from the vineyard of the Empire of His Royal Highness the Count of Turin, Vittorio Emanuele of Savoy, who planted it in 1935. The soil is a mixture of clay and gravel, rich in marl and rock, which gives the grapes a spectacular minerality. The variations in temperature during the day play a decisive role in developing the finest aromas, which are elegant and complex. The wine, bottled in numbered bottles, is not filtered in order to preserve all the typical varietal notes and characteristics of Sangiovese. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, intense garnet red. Very open and accessible nose, old-style in the best sense, of rhubarb, pomegranate, sour cherry and cherry stones. Relaxed and supple at the base, it opens with a grippy, fine-grained tannin, salty and very long, ripe fruit in the aftertaste". (Place 45 / 100 "Best 100 under 100€) Falstaff
"The 2015 Valdarno di Sopra Vigna dell'Impero offers aromas of candied cherry, blackberry, spice and leather. The finish is on the soft side, and I am assigning a slightly shorter drinking window for this warm vintage as a result. The fruit is concentrated and rich, thanks to the heat of the growing season." Wine Advocate
"A tight and focused red with cherry, earth and orange peel. Roses, too. Full body yet very reserved with ultra-fine tannins and a fresh finish. Linear and beautiful. Old vine sangiovese. Shows outstanding potential. " James Suckling

“Oreno” Rosso Toscana IGT 2020 (BIO)
2020 is the first organic Oreno vintage. Deep dark ruby violet. On the nose, cassis, blackcurrant and a powerful herbal spice with a good dose of pipe tobacco, tar and crushed boulders. On the palate, dark berries, chocolate and a cornucopia of herbs define the full body. This juicy wine monument has precisely integrated tannins, an enormous silkiness and a seemingly endless finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Oreno is the top wine of the Tenuta Sette Ponti of the Moretti Cuseri family. The estate is located near Arezzo. The Oreno 2020 consists of 50 % Merlot, 40 % Cabernet Sauvignon and 10 % Petit Verdot. It is matured for 18 months in French oak barriques. Dense and clear, as well as with beautiful race, the Oreno presents itself somewhat finer than the Orma from the sister estate from the Maremma. Clearly more fresh and with more acid kick, the Oreno shines with a fleshy presence and great sweetness. The tannins are somewhat rounder, with good, creamy richness and solid length. In the finish, it seems a little slippery." Weinwisser
"Bright ruby red. The nose smells softly of blackberries, ripe forest fruits, some liquorice and mint, plus fine sealing wax in the reverberation. On the palate radiant, clear, tightly woven tannin, plus present fruit, very juicy on the back end, seems balanced and profound, long finish." Falstaff
"Beautiful detail on the nose, a sweet floral scent with hints of dried herbs, coffee and mint. Structured and fleshy, this wine has weight and power from the start, focusing more on the tannins and concentration of the crisp fruit than the obvious vibrancy at this stage. A serious, contemplative wine that has a lot going for it. I love the intensity of this wine, it is confident and has a clear direction and energy. I also like the salty, smoked stone flavour at the end, which adds nuance and a sense of place. Detailed and expressive, great winemaking and there's a lot to discover." Decanter
"The Tenuta Sette Ponti 2020 Oreno from a warm vintage is very rich and full-bodied and definitely softer compared to the previous 2019 vintage. This wine shows lots of savoury fruit and velvety concentration with blackberry jam and baked cherry. The Oreno gives you a very generous expression of Tuscany to enjoy over the short or medium term." Wine Advocate
"The Oreno 2020 is a dark, brooding beauty. Black cherry, plum, tobacco, spices, menthol, liquorice and dried herbs race across the palate. Deep, fleshy and very expressive, the 2020 Oreno has a lot to offer. It should drink well with minimal cellaring, but also has enough substance to drink well for many years to come." Vinous
"This wine is lush, dense and vibrant, with aromas of black cherries, blackberries and blackcurrants accompanied by mineral, cedary and spicy elements. It firms up on the finish, with fruity, mineral and spicy accents and a nice length." Wine Spectator
"Wow. Wonderful nose of dark cherries, chocolate and spices; deep texture, the tannins fine-grained, cushioned by the acidity, of great length with a multi-faceted finish that makes you want to take another sip. Excellent." Vinum
"A red wine with a layered, velvety texture, showing blackberry and black olive character, plus some iodine and graphite. Full-bodied and rich with lots of fruit and chewy tannins." James Suckling

SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, intense colour. Full, sweet and chocolaty, the Oreno smells of rum pot and shows a nice fullness, yet the wood shines through a little, as the core aroma is still little developed. Sweet, broad and compact, it appears in the mouth with a lot of substance and core, with an equally concentrated middle. The punchy tannins are arranged in a straightforward manner, accompanied by fine wood shimmer and good texture." Weinwisser
"A juicy red characterised by blueberries, boysenberries, cassis, wild herbs and oak spices. It shows a range of dusty tannins that keep a firm grip on the compact finish, but it has freshness, plenty of fruit and persistence." Wine Spectator
"Fruity, floral aromas of dried cherries, raspberries and violets on the nose segue into spicy notes of pencil shavings and hot tar, before more mixed berries over spicy, earthy notes on the palate, with a hint of orange pith providing astringency on the long, umami-rich finish." Wine Enthusiast
"The 2021 Oreno is terrific. In fact, the 2021 is one of the best Orenos I can remember tasting. Aromatic, rich and deep, with tons of textural resonance, the 2021 has so much to offer. Scents of tobacco, espresso, spice, new leather and spice open first, leading to waves of dark, resonant fruit that build over time. Impressive. This is an especially heady, flamboyant Tuscan red. It's a style that works quite well in 2021." Vinous
"Dark blackberry fruit and intense floral and spicy aromas, liquorice and olive with hints of blueberry and rose. The tannins are grippy but give direction rather than being heavy or broad. On the palate it remains quite straightforward, persistently in line from start to finish. I love the juiciness, strawberry juice with herbal accents and clean, ferruginous minerality that comes across as slightly tangy and spicy on the finish, lingering with a zesty olive note." Decanter
"Bright ruby violet. Opens with an elegant nose, notes of elderberries, chocolate, cooked blackberries, some liquorice. Present on the palate, with nerve, grippy but very energetic, clean tannin, sturdy, long, juicy finish for many minutes." Falstaff
"Blackcurrants and black cherries with beautiful flowers on the nose. Medium-bodied with ultra-fine tannins that give the wine focus and tension. Pretty and balanced. A little shy now." James Suckling
"Unique site, south-facing vineyards in the river basin of the same name. Taut nose, blackberry, eucalyptus, pink pepper and capers, peony and balsamic finish. Dense on the palate, crisp spicy tannins, fresh citrus notes with a long, quaffable finish." Luca Gardini

Deep dark ruby violet. On the nose, cassis, blackcurrant and a powerful herbal spiciness with a good dose of pipe tobacco, tar and crushed boulders. On the palate, dark berries, chocolate and a cornucopia of herbs define the full body. This juicy wine monument has precisely integrated tannins, an enormous silkiness and a seemingly endless finish. SUPERIORE.DE

“Vigna dell’Impero 1935” Rosso Val d’Arno di Sopra DOC 2015 · 3 bottles in OWC
(Place 11 / 100 "Best 100 under 100€) Falstaff

"Rich, sparkling ruby with a slight violet shimmer. Complex nose with notes of cedar, black truffle, then lots of cassis and blackberry. Round and supple on the palate, showing well matured fruit, exceedingly precise, fine, polished tannin, very long, dark chocolate in the finish." Falstaff
"This is a dark, concentrated and full-bodied expression that exudes black fruit and blackberry with spicy tobacco and savory spice. Despite the Bordeaux blend in its DNA, the wine is fully Tuscan in character and spirit, with the softness and fullness that comes from fruit cultivated under the golden sunshine of Central Italy." Wine Advocate
"Currant, flower and orange-blossom aromas follow through to a full body with fine, creamy tannins and a long, persistent finish. Shows finesse and precision. Cherry and orange-peel notes at the end. The flavors go on and on. Better after 2022." James Suckling

“Oreno” Rosso Toscana IGT 2020 (BIO) · Double MAGNUM in OWC
This wine shows lots of tasty fruit and velvety concentration with blackberry jam and baked cherry. The Oreno gives you a very generous expression of Tuscany to enjoy in the short or medium term." Wine Advocate

"Rich ruby red. Expressive and inviting nose of ripe strawberries and red currants, a hint of raspberry jam, carried by nuances of fine wood and cigar box. Very polished palate entry, opens in the mouth with delicate creaminess and velvety tannin, noble spice and fruit at the core, shows considerable juiciness at the back and thus draught, great length and elegance." Falstaff
"This vibrant red is saturated with black cherry, blackberry, iron and underbrush flavors. The tannins turn chewy on the finish, where a note of bitter almond lingers along with freshness." Wine Spectator
"The Tenuta Sette Ponti 2019 Oreno celebrates the wine's 20th anniversary (1999-2019) with a special label and a heavy glass bottle. This blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot is beautifully ripe and generous with impeccable fruit throughout. Its primary intensity is delivered with energy and character, showcasing broad brush aromas of black fruit, exotic spice, cured tobacco and new leather. The tannins are quite strong in this edition and do make for a brief moment of astringency on the close. This is a thickly extracted blended Tuscan red, and it makes sense that its fiber and structure is also more compact and concentrated in 2019." Wine Advocate
"Wow. Fantastic aromas of blackberries, currants, minerals, violets and graphite. Full-bodied with firm, silky tannins that are incredibly polished and intense, yet ever so refined and integrated in the wine. It goes on for minutes. The is one of the best modern-day Orenos so far. Best in 2025 and onwards." James Suckling

The name of the Sette Ponti vineyard, located near Arezzo in Chianti Classico, comes from the seven bridges between Arezzo and Florence that motorists have to cross on the way there. The vineyards were planted by the former owner, Archduke Leopold of Habsburg. The property later passed to the Savoy family dynasty, which, however, only took care of the vineyards from time to time. In 1935, the vines were planted for the Chianti Vigna di Pallino, which is still produced today. In the mid-1990s, Antonio Moretti took over the estate from his father Alberto, who had originally bought the country house in the 1950s with the intention of being able to go hunting from there with friends.
Viticulture has always been practised at Tenuta Sette Ponti. But it was not until 1996 that Antonio, who owns several other estates in Italy, dedicated himself to this work with greater commitment. He hired an international team of experts to bring the winery far forward in terms of quality and to have all the necessary changes made for this step. In 1998, Antonio created the Crognolo, mainly from the Sangiovese grape variety, and a year later the cult wine Oreno, a cuvée mainly from the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties.
Antonio is supported by a top-class technical team with Oenologist Carlo Ferrini and his assistant Gioia Cresti. Ferrini is considered an important and innovative business consultant in the Tuscan wine world. For example, he has already worked for the Castello di Brolio, Castello di Fonterutoli, Poliziano and Castello di Terriccio wineries and has been running his own wineries in Montalcino and on Etna for several years, where he produces great wines.
Tenuta Sette Ponti extends over 330 hectares, of which more than 50 are planted with vines. The oldest vineyard, the Vigna dell'Impero, was planted in 1935. Today, it is mainly used for the IGT wine Oreno, and a small part of it has been used for the pure Sangiovese Vigna dell'Impero for a few years. Since the 2020 vintage, almost all the vineyards of the winery have been certified organic. SUPERIORE.DE
