      “Crognolo” Rosso Toscana IGT 2016

Dark fruits form the backbone of its fragrant body, which is further enhanced by a moderately dosed floral and balsamic perfume. Coherent is the dense taste, which exudes its spice in a relaxed way, revealing a fine tannin pattern. SUPERIORE.DE

"Sette Ponti's 2016 Crognolo is plump, juicy and radiant, all qualities that make it easy to drink upon release. Succulent red cherry, kirsch, tobacco and dried flowers flesh out in an effortless, unfussy wine that offers tons of immediacy and pleasure." Antonio Galloni

"This is a tight and elegantly streamlined wine that sports a very attractive mid-weight style. The wine opens to aromas of red cherry, plum, toasted almond and crushed granite or stone. This vintage is both balanced and bright." Robert Parker

"Aromas of rosewood, cherries and blueberries follow through to a full body, tight and focused tannins and a long and flavorful finish. This is linear and bright. The tannins are wonderfully polished and poised. Hard not to drink now, but it will improve beautifully in the bottle." James Suckling

Deep dark ruby. In the nose cassis, black berries and a powerful herb spice with a good dose of pipe tobacco. On the palate dark berries, chocolate and a cornucopia of herbs define the full-bodied body. This wine monument has precisely integrated tannins, an enormous silkiness and an almost infinite finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"Rich, glowing ruby violet. Finely drawn nose with notes of dark, juicy currants, some tar and slate in the background. It plays nicely on the palate, a lot of present berry fruit, fine-meshed tannin, unfolds very straight." Falstaff

"The 2016 Oreno is gorgeous. Rich, unctuous and resonant, the 2016 is laced with inky blue/purplish fruit, bittersweet chocolate, spice, lavender, licorice and incense. I would prefer to give the 2016 a few years to come into its own, but it is impressive, even in the early going. Silky tannins and dense, plush fruit add to its undeniable immediacy and sheer appeal." Antonio Galloni

"The 2016 Oreno is a fantastic expression from Tuscany that blossoms with each swirl and tilt of the glass. This is a full-bodied red with generous aromas of black fruit, spice, tobacco and soft spice." Robert Parker

“Vigna dell’Impero 1935” Rosso Val d’Arno di Sopra DOC 2015

The Sangiovese grapes of this wine come from the vineyard of the Empire of His Royal Highness the Count of Turin, Vittorio Emanuele of Savoy, who planted it in 1935. The soil is a mixture of clay and gravel, rich in marl and rock, which gives the grapes a spectacular minerality. The variations in temperature during the day play a decisive role in developing the finest aromas, which are elegant and complex. The wine, bottled in numbered bottles, is not filtered in order to preserve all the typical varietal notes and characteristics of Sangiovese. SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright, intense garnet red. Very open and accessible nose, old-style in the best sense, of rhubarb, pomegranate, sour cherry and cherry stones. Relaxed and supple at the base, it opens with a grippy, fine-grained tannin, salty and very long, ripe fruit in the aftertaste". (Place 45 / 100 "Best 100 under 100€) Falstaff

"The 2015 Valdarno di Sopra Vigna dell'Impero offers aromas of candied cherry, blackberry, spice and leather. The finish is on the soft side, and I am assigning a slightly shorter drinking window for this warm vintage as a result. The fruit is concentrated and rich, thanks to the heat of the growing season." Robert Parker

"A tight and focused red with cherry, earth and orange peel. Roses, too. Full body yet very reserved with ultra-fine tannins and a fresh finish. Linear and beautiful. Old vine sangiovese. Shows outstanding potential. " James Suckling

This is a robust and nicely layered red blend that would stand up to meat roasts or lamb shanks. The wine is smooth and pleasing in texture. It drinks very nicely straight out of the gate." Robert Parker

Shiny, deep ruby violet. Compact nose with intense notes of dark currants, blackberries and tobacco, exciting play. Shows warmth and fire, juicy, rich fruit and unfolds with fine-grained, dense tannin and ends with a furious finale to noble dark chocolate. SUPERIORE.DE

"Tenuta Sette Ponti's 2012 Oreno is a very different wine compared to its 2011 predecessor. This was also a warm vintage, yet the fruit is more masculine and sober in this vintage. The wine shows harder lines and a more determined style with shapely tannins and long flavors of dark spice, blackberry and bitter chocolate." Robert Parker

"The 2012 Oreno is dark, powerful and voluptuous. A host of black cherry jam, mocha, spice and violet open up in the glass, all propelled by a real sense of power. The tannins are broad and intense, so readers will have to give the 2012 at least a few years to settle down. Super-ripe, explosive and concentrated, the Oreno is one of the more overt wines of the vintage." Antonio Galloni

"This is perfumed, sinewy and taut, boasting cherry, black currant, earth, wild herb and tobacco aromas and flavors. The tannins are assertive, but this shows balance overall, as well as a saline mineral element on the finish." Wine Spectator

"Fabulous aromas of blackberries, orange peel, raspberries and citrus. Violets, too. Full body, ultra-fine tannins and a light, dusty texture. It’s so fine, beautiful, racy and refined. Very structured but also soulful and inspiring. There’s a new refinement to this wine as the winemakers search for a truly beautiful expression of the terroir." James Suckling

    • "Oreno" Rosso Toscana IGT 2015 <br>6 Bottles in OWC

“Oreno” Rosso Toscana IGT 2015 · 6 Bottles in OWC

Shiny, deep ruby violet. Compact nose with intense notes of dark currants, blackberries and tobacco, exciting play. Shows warmth and fire, juicy, rich fruit and unfolds with fine-grained, dense tannin and ends with a furious finale to noble dark chocolate. SUPERIORE.DE

"Plenty of blackcurrant, blackberry and dark chocolate character with oyster shell and walnut undertones. Full body, extremely tight and structured with blueberry and light vanilla and coffee highlights. A gorgeous Oreno." James Suckling

"Rich and dense, but elegant, with a dusty swath of tannins coating the finish. Black cherry, black currant and mineral flavors hold court, with a fresh, balanced feel on the finish." Wine Spectator

"The 2015 Oreno is fabulous. Rich, sumptuous and yet very much medium in body, the 2015 has it all going on. Silky tannins and juicy, pliant fruit add to the wine's considerable appeal. Succulent dark cherry, plum, chocolate, mocha and licorice infuse this racy, showy Tuscan red. The 2015 is one of the best vintages of Oreno I have tasted of late." Antonio Galloni

    Sette Ponti

The Sette Ponti winery, near Arezzo in Chianti Classico, takes its name from the seven bridges between Arezzo and Florence that motorists have to cross on their way there. The vineyard hills were laid out by the former owner, Archduke Leopold of Habsburg. The estate was later transferred to the Savoy family dynasty, which, however, only occasionally took care of winegrowing. In 1935 the vines were planted for the still today produced "Vigna di Pallino" planted. In the mid-1990s Antonio Moretti took over the vineyard from his father Alberto, who had originally acquired the farmhouse in the 1950s with the intention of setting off from there to hunt with friends.

Viticulture has always been practised in the Tenuta Sette Ponti. It was not until 1996, however, that Antonio, who owns several other estates in Italy, devoted himself to this work with greater dedication. He hired an international team of experts to bring the company to the forefront in terms of quality and to make all the changes necessary for this step. In 1998 Antonio created the "Crognolo" from the Sangiovese grape variety and one year later the cult wine. "Oreno Rosso di Toscana"A cuvée of the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties.

Antonio is supported by a top-class technical team with oenologist Carlo Ferrini and his assistant Gioia Cresti. Ferrini is considered an important and innovative business consultant in the Tuscan wine world. For example, he has worked for Castello di Brolio, Castello di Fonterutoli, Poliziano and Castello di Terriccio.

The Tenuta Sette Ponti extends over 330 hectares, of which more than 50 hectares are planted with vines. The oldest vineyard, the Vigna dell'Impero, was created in 1935. Sangiovese thrives mainly on it; today it is mainly used for IGT wine. „Oreno“is used. SUPERIORE.DE

"Once again in Tuscany, more specifically in Castiglion Fibocchi, we have with the Tenuta Sette Ponti the "Winery of the year" discovered. It stands as a symbol for a quality orientated wine-growing with devotion. With his vision of markets and growing areas - from Tuscany to Sicily - Antonio Moretti achieves excellence in each of his companies."Gambero Rosso
