• Aglianico Irpinia DOC 2017

      Aglianico Irpinia DOC 2017

The pure variety Aglianico presents itself very well: clear, fresh, clean, with accents of exotic herbs and red fruits, in addition to a harmoniously flowing, full-bodied taste. SUPERIORE.DE

"A smoky note up front underscores the baked cherry and dried fig fruit on the palate of this medium- to full-bodied red. Accents of cured tobacco and spice linger on the finish, firmed by well-knit tannins." Wine Spectator

"The 2017 Irpinia Aglianico opens with a fruit-forward display of spicy blue and black berries, as rich brown spices, sweet herbs, and a hint of mocha comes forward. On the palate, silky textures flood the senses with polished black fruit and minerals, which cascade across the senses, giving way to inner violet florals. The finish is long with a staining of blue and black fruits, which slowly taper off to reveal a coating of savory spice and mineral tones." Vinous

"Now here's a really exciting Aglianico. Full of life, it's overflowing with sea urchin, oyster shell, hot stones, blackberries and steak tartare. As for the palate, it's full in body, but very silky and sleek, tiptoeing with the grace of a ballerina through vibrant but concentrated dark fruit. Long and complex. Amazing value!" James Suckling

“Prugnolo” Rosso di Montepulciano DOC 2018

Boscarellis Prugnolo opens the bouquet with velvety and cherry aromas, then becomes full-bodied and powerful. Excellent fruit on the palate, pleasant fresh acidity, present tannin, structured and long. SUPERIORE.DE

"Fragrant and supple, this young red has enticing aromas of wild dark-skinned berry, blue flower and dark spice. It's vibrant, savory and easy-drinking, doling out juicy Marasca cherry, raspberry and baking spice set against lithe tannins." Wine Enthusiast

"This is a very endearing and fruity red, reminiscent of Beaujolais, with pressed violets and raspberries. Light body, bright acidity and a minerally, tangy finish." James Suckling

"Graphite and cherry aromas lead off, followed by a beam of pure cherry, tobacco and earth flavors. The tannins are firm and dense, but this can be enjoyed now with pasta or grilled meats." Wine Spectator

Zingari, a blend of Merlot, Syrah, Petit Verdot and Sangiovese, has a dark ruby red colour and a characteristic Maremma aroma. Warm and round on the palate with notes of blueberries, blackberries and spices. A complex wine that will surely find many admirers. SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright, ripe cherry and plum fruit flavors offset the savory tobacco, earth and herb notes in this plump red, which is balanced despite the exuberant tannins, while vivid acidity keeps the long aftertaste focused." Wine Spectator

"Coconut and hazelnut aromas mingle with ripe, dark-skinned berry aromas. Reflecting the nose, the tight palate offers toast, licorice and blackberry jam alongside tightly knit, drying tannins." Wine Enthusiast

"A compact, minerally version, with tobacco and smoke notes leading to flavors of dried cherry, pomegranate, coffee and spice. Medium-bodied and fresh, with grippy tannins that should integrate well with short cellaring." Wine Spectator

"Luminous red. Aromas of flinty red berries, red cherries and minerals have a bright floral overlay. Then very good inner-mouth perfume too, with exhilarating lift to the red fruit and stony flavors. The finish is long and clean, nicely framed by suave tannins and harmonious acidity." Vinous

"Aromas of lemon, watermelon and black cherries follow through to a medium body, firm, silky tannins and a solid, bright finish. Tighter style to this." James Suckling

"The 2017 Etna Rosso is a terrific entry-level red wine from the Sicilian volcano that boasts the power and electric charge that I associate with wines from this fascinating territory. If you are new to the wines of Etna, this Rosso is a great place to start. This is a well-made and carefully shaped Nerello Mascalese that ushers forth smaller berry fruit, smoke and pencil shavings. The fruit is pure and precise. The wine's overall presentation is sharp and accessible." Robert Parker

This harmonious cuvée of Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet comes from Querciabella's Maremma vineyard. Charming bouquet with notes of tobacco and leather, which then give way to a ripe fruit. The balanced taste is fine-fruity, intense and fresh. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2018 Mongrana, Querciabella's entry-level red, is fabulous. A burst of dark cherry, plum, spice, new leather and chocolate gives the 2018 so much immediacy and sheer appeal. Overall, this is a pretty restrained style for the Tuscan coast. There is so much to like here." Vinous

    • "Al Passo" Rosso Toscana IGT 2016

“Al Passo” Rosso Toscana IGT 2016

Al Passo is named after the small wood on the highest hill of Tolaini - a magical place with a breathtaking panorama of the landscape and the sunsets over the towers of Siena. As unique as the forest is the wine, which presents the natural affinity of Sangiovese and Merlot. Intense and enticing bouquet of ripe fruit and spicy oak notes, on the palate with ripe fruit and fresh acidity, balanced, medium body, long final. SUPERIORE.DE

"Rich garnet with ruby. Compact fruit, slightly candied, orange zest and pickled cherries, fine green spice. On the palate very drinkable, after elderberries, juicy, crisp, of medium weight, long salty aftertaste." Falstaff

"The 2016 Al Passo is bold and juicy, not to mention absolutely delicious. Fresh, vibrant and full of character, the 2016 hits all the right notes. Sangiovese red fruits are nicely pushed forward. Al Passo is such a pretty and inviting wine. I very much like the energy here. Bright aromatic top notes add a kick of energy on the finish." Vinous

"You'll find sturdy notes of tilled earth in the 2016 Al Passo, with lots of intensity and ripe fruit. It would make a nice pairing with a good old spaghetti al ragù. The wine is balanced and bright without too much concentration or heft. It feels very Tuscan. This is Tolaini's base wine and you get excellent value." Robert Parker

"Black currant fruit signals this supple red, focused by refined tannins and bright acidity. Cedar, iron and tobacco notes add depth as this winds down on the long finish." Wine Spectator

"A really endearing red that shows dried herbs, fresh blueberries, tobacco and cedar. Lithe and very tangy on the palate, which is medium-to full-bodied, elegant and dialed-in. The fine tannins add to a delicate but muscular impression on the medium-chewy finish." James Suckling

      “Ornello” Maremma Toscana DOC 2016

Ornello is an open wine with beautiful, inviting aromas of ripe, dark fruit and vegetable notes. The palate is pleasantly fruity and full with good length and balance. SUPERIORE.DE

"Fresh, packed with black cherry and blackberry flavors, this red is polished and dense. Licorice, spice and tar accents add interest as the aftertaste lingers." Wine Spectator

"The 2016 Ornello is once again the hidden gem in this lineup in 2016. Rich and boisterous on the palate, the 2016 offers up serious resonance. The blend of Sangioveto, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah works especially well here. Dark cherry, chocolate, spice and licorice build into the ample, creamy finish. "Sweet-cherry and vanilla aromas and flavors. It’s medium-to full-bodied with round tannins and a fruity finish. Nicely done. Delicious now." James Suckling

"The 2018 Chianti Classico is an absolutely joyous wine. Bright red cherry fruit, tangy acids and sweet floral notes all run a translucent, super-expressive Chianti Classico that quite frankly knocks it out of the park. The 2018 is so delineated, so vibrant and just so incredibly delicious. The purity of the flavors is just remarkable. The oak needs a bit of time to fully integrate, but it already has over the last few months. This is what Sangiovese (called Sangioveto here) and Chianti Classico are all about. Best of all, the 2018 is a screaming value. Don't miss it." Vinous
