Chianti Classico DOCG 2019 (BIO)
The Chianti Classico from Istine is one of the most racy and pure representatives of its genre. Its weightlessness and at the same time precision make up a large part of its charm. Finely knitted bouquet of red berry fruits, flowers, chalk and white pepper. Medium-bodied on the nose, with further aeration its fine fruit, creamy tannins and plenty of personality come to light. A red that takes hearts by storm with its lively, lilting and extremely fine-nerved character! SUPERIORE.DE
"Mid crimson. Concentrated, complex nose of dark fruit and sweet raspberry with a hint of iron and damp earth. Succulent cherry fruit lined with grainy tannins and a final kick of acidity on the finish." Jancis Robinson
"Cherry and strawberry flavors are pure and focused, with a touch of rose and rosemary accents. This is firm and balanced, with a persistent finish echoing the fruit and herb notes." Wine Spectator
"The 2019 Chianti Classico is a classy, polished wine that needs time to fully come into its own, as the aromatics are not at all expressive, and that is such a big part of what makes Chianti Classico so distinctive. Today, the wine's energy and vibrancy are both notable, but it is clearly very early days for this bottling." Vinous
"This lovely, easy-drinking red has aromas of rose, berry and spice. Reflecting the nose, the bright, savory palate doles out juicy strawberry, red cherry and star anise set against taut, lithe tannins." Wine Enthusiast

Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2018 (BIO)
Querciabella's Riserva is a great blend of the three best Chianti sites in Greve, Radda and Gaiole. Pure elegance on all levels: Rich ruby garnet, subtle aromas of cherry, anise and tobacco, joined by notes of jasmine and violets. Pleasantly medium-bodied on the palate, ripe black cherries and herbs, very typical of this terroir. Balanced fruit, the structure is dominated by obvious, superbly integrated tannins and remarkably perfect acidity. Intense and persistent with enough extract for exciting storage potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, radiant ruby red. Slightly fleshy on the nose, lots of rich red berries, rose petal. On the palate red berries, juicy and clear, spreads fresh, slightly drying in the finish." Falstaff
"Lustrous crimson. Pure raspberry with the polish of oak, but barely noticeable. Beautiful precision on the palate with raspberry, jewel-like acidity and fine polished tannins. Gorgeous length and style." Jancis Robinson
"The 2018 Chianti Classico Riserva is a wonderfully polished and expressive wine. Dark cherry, spice, tobacco, cedar, dark cherry, leather and tobacco. Darker, virile and intense the Riserva retains the classic Querciabella mid-weight style. I imagine the 2018 will give readers two decades of very fine drinking." Vinous
"Plenty of generous Black Forest gateau richness with charming dark chocolate, cold coffee, and mocha complexity. Intense yet elegant." Decanter
"Fleeting hints of lavender and lemon verbena aromas give way to a beam of pure cherry in this sleek, intense and harmonious red. Taut, yet vibrant, with a long, lingering aftertaste of fruit, wild herbs and stony mineral elements. Excellent length." Wine Spectator
"Complex aromas of dark cherries, vanilla, flowers and lavender. It’s full-bodied with polished and very fine tannins. Very racy and intense with gorgeous length and intensity. This is really structured. From organically grown grapes. Vegan. It needs a year or two to soften, but very serious. Try after 2023." James Suckling

Ripe red fruits in the bouquet, the taste soft and supple, juicy and nicely structured. Very enjoyable wine for every day. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2018 Rosso Piancarda is intensely spiced and perfumed, as medicinal cherries and raspberries are complemented by dusty rose and sweet cedar. On the palate the Piancarda takes a turn toward the savory spectrum. Salty and full of zesty minerality, the 2018 shows sapid red fruits, hints of plum and brisk acids that keeps the expression fresh. Grippy tannins linger through the finale, as hints of sour citrus and tart berries slowly taper off." Vinous
"Taut tannins are enmeshed with ripe black and red currant fruit flavors in this fresh red, which is medium-bodied, with herb and iron accents emerging on the chalky finish." Wine Spectator

“Controdanza” Rosso Sicilia Noto DOC 2017
The country dance (controdanza) is a typical dance in which man and woman face each other and unite in graceful movements - depending on their gender, the dancers interpret the music in their own way. This wine is exactly the same: Nero d'Aola and Merlot - as is well known, opposites attract and, with the right intuition, can adjust wonderfully to each other, forming harmony and contrast at the same time.
Strong purple. Mulberry and plum contrast with incense and balsamic notes. The grapes all come from calcareous soils, which again bridges the gap and makes this young wine balancing and harmonious. Soft tannins and beautifully integrated delicate acidity carry Controdanza into a smooth, medium-length finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Minerally up front, with lots of tarry smoke and hot stone on the nose, notes that underscore the palate's dried raspberry, singed orange peel and tobacco flavors. Medium- to full-bodied and gusty, with a firm, focused finish." Wine Spectator

“Non Confunditur” Rosso Toscana IGT 2018
Rosso Non Confunditur from Argiano is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese. The wine opens with a dark ruby colour and aromas of wild berries, flowers and red berries. On the palate, it thankfully does not show the cloying heaviness or dense extraction found in many other protagonists of the Super Tuscan category. In fact, NC is accessible and fresh, rounded off with a good amount of crisp acidity and a well-proportioned body. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright garnet with brightening rim. In the nose with bright spice, a hint of dark forest berries, needs some air to fully develop. On the palate then with juicy fruit and tight tannin, spreads nicely over the tongue, again juicy in the finish." Falstaff
"A bit reserved, with ample black cherry, black currant and spice flavors set within a solid structure. Fresh and focused, it lingers, echoing the fruit and adding an iron note." Wine Spectator
"The ripe berries with delicate chocolate and hazelnut undertones are very attractive, as are the dusty tannins and herbal, berry and light tobacco undertones at the finish. Just a little more time will make it all the better." James Suckling

"Black currant and black cherry fruit is underlined by lively acidity and dense tannins in this intense red. Iron, tobacco and woodsy accents play supporting roles, while the ripe fruit prevails on the lingering aftertaste." Wine Spectator

“Vallenuova” Chianti Classico DOCG 2019
Chianti Classico Vallenuova has the potential to become a favourite wine. It is the archetypal expression of Sangiovese from a single vineyard, which could not be more typical and authentic. Lively, sparkling ruby, a little cedar and small wild berries on the nose, along with spices, beetroot and white pepper. On the palate, leather, tobacco and a hint of citrus fruit, in the final it presents itself pleasantly lean with a convincing, drinkable freshness. SUPERIORE.DE
"Serious, intense, many-layered nose. Very savoury and dense with great construction. Long and interesting with admirable depth. Hugely impressive wine. Very clean, fresh finish." Jancis Robinson
"Aromas of earth, and even barnyard, mingle with cherry and raspberry flavors in this dense, taut red. Though monolithic and austere, the fruit persists and matches the tannins in the end, where mineral and tobacco elements also emerge." Wine Spectator
"A fresh, tangy Chianti Classico with red berries and hints of orange peel. Medium body and a crisp finish." James Suckling

“Al Passo” Rosso Toscana IGT 2017
Al Passo is named after the small forest on the highest hill of Tolaini - a magical place with breathtaking panoramic views of the countryside and sunsets over the towers of Siena. The wine is as unique as the forest, showcasing the natural affinity of Sangiovese and Merlot.
Rich garnet with ruby. Intense and enticing bouquet of ripe fruit, orange zest and spicy oak notes, palate with ripe fruit and fresh acidity, balanced, medium body, long final with a fine salty vein. SUPERIORE.DE
"A mix of black cherry, black currant, cedar, iron and tobacco flavors grace this taut red. Nicely balanced and vibrant, ends with a long, tobacco- and spice-tinged finish." Wine Spectator
"The Tolaini 2017 Al Passo is always an ambitious wine that takes the best of the grapes in its blend: Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Each give freshness, structure and textural fiber. Al Passo opens to dark berry fruit and plum, with spice, tobacco and tilled earth. This is a well-priced wine that promises lots of pairings, especially out of a Tuscan cookbook." Robert Parker
"The 2017 Al Passo is a blend of equal parts Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Open-knit and plaint, with soft curves, the 2017 offers tons of immediacy. Cedar, tobacco, dried herbs and macerated cherry all meld together in an inviting, mid-weight Tuscan red to drink over the next decade or so." Vinous
"A beautiful, ripe wine, offering plums and chocolate, as well as tile and walnuts. It's full and layered with beautiful fruit and caressing tannins. Rock on." James Suckling

Etna Bianco DOC 2020 (BIO)
Etna Bianco from Terre Nere offers a surprising level of depth and sophistication. The cuvée of Carricante, Catarratto, Grecanico, Inzolia and Minnella smells of grapefruit, quince, dried sage and wild mint. Fine mineral notes on the palate, develops elegantly with notes of lemon curd. Excellent quality at a very attractive price. SUPERIORE.DE
"Creamy and balanced, this light- to medium-bodied white offers notes of Mandarin orange peel, golden apple and raw almond, backed by crunchy acidity and a tangy finish." Wine Spectator
"The moment I put my nose to the glass, I questioned if this was just the entry-level 2020 Etna Bianco. Crushed stone and sea shells give way to nectarine, mint and a hint of vanilla bean to create a wildly attractive and Burgundian bouquet. On the palate, this speaks more in whispers, soft and subtle yet pleasantly sweet, contrasting ripe orchard fruits against vibrant acidity, and with gobs of minerality that sneakily collect toward the close. The medium-long finish is clean and refreshing, as hints of raw almond and pretty inner florals slowly taper off." Vinous
"I love the expressive, smoky nose that’s brimming with Amalfi lemon, plus touches of caper and parsley. Super-fresh and very crisp, but also polished, this is an exciting introduction to Etna dry whites. Fair length. A blend of indigenous grapes, dominated by Carricante." James Suckling

With an incredible readership of three million wine lovers, Wine Spectator is one of the oldest and world's leading wine magazines in the USA. Founded in 1976 by Bob Morrisey, this English-language trade magazine has been under the wing of American publisher and editor Marvin R. Shanken for over forty years.
The trade journal publishes fifteen issues a year and is dedicated to detailed comparisons of current vintages as well as price-determining wine evaluations according to the recognised 100-point system. All Italian wines were awarded for twenty-nine years by the famous wine critic and then editor-in-chief James Suckling, although since 2010, after his retirement into independence, the Italy-savvy wine expert Bruce Sanderson has taken over the exciting role.
The Wine Spectator publishes an annual Top 100 ranking in which the countless wineries, from the big names to the smaller, lesser-known vintners, compete together for the title of the best wines in the world. Among international trade magazines, the English-language Wine Spectator with its rigorous team of critics is one of the most important players in the field of wine evaluation and offers insights worth knowing about the wine industry.
