“Spezieri” Rosso Toscana IGT 2021 (BIO)
Ruby red colour, fresh nose of red fruits and spices. Pleasant flavour: fruity, balanced in tannin and acidity, very lively and crisp. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red colour. Still somewhat restrained on the nose, of ripe cherry, rosehip and cloves. Opens on the palate with clear fruit and animating acidity, fine, young tannins." Falstaff
"This tightly wound red's chewy tannins maintain a stranglehold on the wild strawberry and cherry fruit. Accents of earth and tobacco add detail, yet the finish feels pinched for now." Wine Spectator
"The nose balances savory, slightly astringent aromas of coffee, soil, pepper and balsamic with sweeter notes of cherries and blackberries. That berry element glows on the palate, but an enduring peppery earthiness preserves the balance. Firm tannins usher the acid into a sophisticated, salty finish." Wine Enthusiast

"Dark and tangy, with a lush core of blackberry, mulberry and boysenberry fruit flavors, revealing accents of oolong tea leaf and spiced orange peel. Shows taut, fine tannins that impart a tightly meshed feel, but this is silky and balanced overall, opening nicely on the palate and in the glass." Wine Spectator
"Aromas and flavours of berries and cherries, along with hints of rose petals and fruit tea. Medium-bodied with slightly abrasive tannins and a chalky mouthfeel on the finish." James Suckling

The Riserva from the great traditional line of de Castris captivates with intense cherry fruit, fine wood notes and subtle spice. Powerful and juicy on the palate, round and harmonious, with a wonderfully long finish. Every year a fantastic price-pleasure ratio! SUPERIORE.DE
"A fantastic value, the 2019 Salice Riserva 50esima Vendemmia opens with black cherry and plum depths complemented by sweet herbs and tobacco. This is silky-smooth and rich with masses of ripe dark fruits and exotic spices. It leaves a staining of primary concentration while tapering off lightly structured yet energetic." Vinous

"This powerful yet balanced red offers compact aromas of ploughed soil, violets, blood orange and crushed peppercorns over a dense blackberry core. The palate is juicy yet broad and densely packed, framed by powerful acidity and velvety tannins." Wine Enthusiast

“Controdanza” Rosso Sicilia Noto DOC 2020
The country dance (controdanza) is a typical dance in which man and woman face each other and unite in graceful movements - depending on their gender, the dancers interpret the music in their own way. This wine is exactly the same: Nero d'Aola and Merlot - opposites attract and, with the right sensitivity, can harmonise and contrast wonderfully.
Strong purple colour. Mulberry and plum contrast with incense and balsamic notes. The grapes all come from chalky soils, which in turn creates a bridge and makes this young wine balanced and harmonious. Soft tannins and a beautifully integrated, delicate acidity carry Controdanza into a supple, medium-length finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Medium ruby colour with garnet-red reflections. Inviting on the nose, fruity flavours of cherry and wild berries, underpinned by spicy notes. Full fruit on the palate, dense tannins, mouth-filling, juicy with a lingering final." Falstaff
"Fragrant, with floral, spicy and mineral accents, this wine displays a creamy palette of plump cherry and warm fig fruit flavours, enveloping slightly chewy tannins. Fresh, long-lasting finish." Wine Spectator
"Aromas of baked cherries, mushrooms, basil and grated nutmeg. Medium to full-bodied with fine tannins. Beautifully ripe red fruits on the palate, with a subtle savoury character. Finishes with vanilla." James Suckling
"The nose starts with a balanced blend of vanilla and herbs, then becomes a little sharper, but remains balanced with flavours of pepper, pencil shavings and black cherries. On the palate, the tension between fruit and earth continues, with the cherries hovering over herbal, umami undertones. The acidity dances past the chewy tannins." Wine Enthusiast
"The 2020 Controdanza opens with a burst of wild berries and spices, complicated by chalk dust and hints of crushed violet candies. This is juicy and lively on the palate with vivid wild blueberry fruit and purple/blue inner florals that amass toward the close. It finishes classically dry with a pleasantly bitter tinge, leaving notes of licorice and sage to slowly fade." Vinous

Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG 2022 (BIO)
Cerasuolo di Vittoria - an established local red with great tradition and just as much character. Typical aroma of the wines from Vittoria: Aromas of red berries, cherries, prickly pear, ginger and fruit sweets. Flavoursome, extremely complex, fresh, lively and yet balanced. SUPERIORE.DE
"Notes of juicy cherries and boysenberries are underscored by tar, smoke and grilled herbs in this lively, light to medium-bodied red wine that finishes silky and savoury." Wine Spectator
"On the nose, there are aromas of cherry blossom, raspberry and blood orange, as well as spicy notes of pencil shavings and black tea. On the palate, cherries and raspberries macerate, but the sanguine, almost chalky bitterness of the tea leaves lingers before a salted chocolate finish." Wine Enthusiast
pepand floral, the 2022 Cerasuolo di Vittoria wafts up with a spicy blend of crushed wild berries and savory herbs. This opens with a pretty inner sweetness and crisp red and blue fruits. Tantalizing acidity refreshes the palate toward the close. It tapers off classically dry yet fresh and floral, leaving a violet resonance to fade." Vinous

Warm and round on the palate with notes of blueberries, blackberries and spices. A multi-layered wine with lively acidity that is sure to find many admirers. SUPERIORE.DE
"A reduced nose of freshly poured tar and sulfur meets a luxurious contrast of muddled raspberry and strawberry, before hints of top soil and tobacco emerge. The palate of this wine turns to fresher red fruit, mostly cherry, with soil and gravel. Linear but substantial tannins and a firm backbone of acid work well together." Wine Enthusiast
"A lean yet fluid red wine with black cherry fruit mingling with tomato leaves, juniper and sanguine notes, with light tannins gracing the finish. Shows fine balance and length." Wine Spectator

“Mongrana” Bianco Toscana IGT 2022 (BIO)
The vineyards for this likeable Vermentino are located on gentle hills with the typical iron-rich soils of the Maremma, a mixture of silt and alluvial sand with gravel and crushed stone. Mongrana Bianco reflects the characteristic qualities of its red sibling and beautifully illustrates the quality that Querciabella has been bringing to the bottle in the Maremma for years: restrained power, freshness and saltiness from the coast and a purity of fruit that is the winery's trademark. SUPERIORE.DE
"Intense straw yellow colour. Fragrant, floral nose of white flowers, white peach, delicate notes of banana and sugar melon. Radiant on the palate with a great fruit centre, on fresh apricots, balanced, with a gentle creaminess, drinks very well." Falstaff
"A creamy white, with aromas of peach and yellow flowers accented by sage, white pepper and mineral. This wine's savory elements emerge on the lingering finish." Wine Spectator
"Notes of glazed lemons and sliced apples with summer herbs, white lilacs and crushed stones. Medium-bodied, round and oily on the palate with tangy, zesty character and a lightly phenolic finish. Waxy, too." James Suckling

Verdicchio di Matelica DOC 2022 (BIO)
Italy connoisseur and wine critic Ian D'Agata writes about the grape variety in his book "Native Wine Grapes of Italy": "Verdicchio is arguably Italy's greatest indigenous white grape variety. This statement may come as a surprise to those who have only tasted neutral or watery Verdicchio wines, sometimes even bottled in incredible amphora-shaped bottles."
Light straw green in colour. Clean and fresh on the nose, lively and lively on the palate with an almost laser-like precision in the flavours of citrus fruits, herbs, almonds, mussels and crushed gravel. Its sweet and sour note makes the wine even more appealing and gives it an air of "drink me now". Everything here is in perfect balance and has a natural tension. Even Bisci's base wine, aged for 7 months on the fine lees, impressively demonstrates the great class of the winery. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Verdicchio di Matelica 2022 emerges from the glass with a delightful blend of chamomile, lime zest and crushed nectarines. It is round and soft with a salty minerality up front, enhanced by lively acidity as tart fruit pours over the palate. The 2022 tapers off crisp, refreshing and quite saline, leaving a mouth-watering flavour as the notes of sour melon fade." Vinous
"A bright and tangy white, with an aromatic overtone of mandarin orange peel and freshly chopped rosemary and oregano. Lightly waxy in texture on the palate, which shows notes of baked pear, blanched almond and white blossoms." Wine Spectator

“Non Confunditur” Rosso Toscana IGT 2021
Rosso Non Confunditur from Argiano is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese. The wine opens with a dark ruby red colour and aromas of wild berries, flowers and red berries. On the palate, it fortunately does not show the cloying heaviness or dense extraction found in many other protagonists of the Super Tuscan category. In fact, NC is accessible and fresh, rounded off with a good level of crisp acidity and a well-proportioned body. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark ruby red with violet shimmer. Compact nose, ripe plum, coffee and dark chocolate. Powerful and juicy on the palate, builds up a lot of pressure, refreshing acidity and ripe tannins, medium-long final, slightly brittle at the end." Falstaff
"Taut and straightforward in profile, this red offers blackcurrants, black cherries, vanilla and peppery spices. It tightens up on the finish, where the chalky tannins linger." Wine Spectator
"The nose is simultaneously earthy and sweet, with notes of cherries, chocolate, tree bark and underbrush. That cherry-chocolate sweetness takes center stage on the palate, before tannins clear through them to resuscitate the earth tones." Wine Enthusiast

“Palai” Müller-Thurgau Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 2022
The Palai area is one of the most representative areas for the production of Müller Thurgau in Italy due to its microclimatic characteristics and the influence of the Cembra and Isarco valleys. In order to preserve its varietal characteristics (aromas and natural antioxidants), the grapes are processed using the hyper-reduction technique (in the absence of oxygen) developed and patented by the company.
Brilliant straw yellow with greenish reflections. The bouquet is intense, aromatic and rich with notes of baked apples and crushed raw almonds, accompanied by citrus peel and a hint of smoke. Its fine acidity and aromatic vein make it a convincing accompaniment to both great fish dishes and simple braised dishes with freshwater fish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Light yellow; fresh fruit, grapefruit, inviting; juicy acidity, nettle, crisp, fruity, drinky, length, pleasing." (JLF) Merum
"This bone-dry white wine is lean and seductive. It offers notes of petrol and stones overlaid with flavours of poached quince, nectarine, verbena and grapefruit flesh, and crackles with lively acidity on the crisp finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2022 Müller Thurgau Palai is intense, herbal and perfumed with dusty flowers, lemon zest and crushed stone. Wonderfully fresh and seriously salty, this reverberates across the palate with zesty acidity and a mineral-tinged blend of orchard fruits. Long and staining yet full of tension, the 2022 leaves the cheeks puckered and the mouth watering for more with a saline sensation that resonates. The limestone soils of these vineyards shine through in the glass." Vinous

“Cutizzi” Greco di Tufo Riserva DOCG 2022
After a year of ageing in the cellar, Feudi's famous Greco "Cutizzi" is labelled Riserva.
Intense, straw-yellow colour and a complex bouquet in which the aromas of melon and pineapple alternate with spicy notes of camomile, vanilla and nutmeg. On the palate, it is round with a rich texture and the pleasant mineral note so typical of the Tufo region. Elegant, long finish with a delicate almond flavour. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright straw yellow with green reflections. Yellow peach and orange zest on the nose, delicate nuances of dandelion. Yellow-fruity, juicy and fresh on the palate, lively acidity, pleasantly salty on the finish." Falstaff
"The 2022 Greco di Tufo Cutizzi opens with an array of sweet white flowers, chamomile and crushed apples. It balances ripe fruit trees and green melon with salty mineral tones and tantalising acidity. The 2022 finishes with a saline tension and notes of nectarine." Vinous
"Elegant, fresh and dense, with a delicious acidity and a chalky base note that frames flavours of ripe mirabelle plums and nectarines, blanched almonds, aniseed, hyssop and preserved lemon." Wine Spectator
"This is a fine Greco. It's savoury, almondy, quinine, bitter and spicy, while subtly moving into stone fruit territory without going over the top. A tremor of mineral tension and shotgun acidity finds a nervous meeting with a stiff upper lip of richness. Convincing." James Suckling
"The Feudi di San Gregorio 2022 Greco di Tufo Cutizzi is just the thing for a plate of raw fish with spicy wasabi sauce or tuna tartare. Aged exclusively in stainless steel, it has the subtle power and firmness to support generous flavours of pear, quince and honeydew melon. The mineral signature of the wine is very pronounced." Wine Advocate
"Floral, zesty and peachy, it has good intensity allied to lovely freshness and a very saline finish. Still very youthful, it deserves the chance to gain some more bottle age before opening; wait and you'll be rewarded." Decanter

“Plenum” Rosso Toscana IGT 2021 (BIO)
Intense ruby red, complex bouquet with notes of black cherry, blueberry and plum, followed by coffee, liquorice and leather. Powerful and full-bodied on the palate, sweet in its tannic texture, infused with a lively freshness and with a beautiful fruit centre. Persistent on the palate with notes of liquorice and cocoa, giving the Rosso an elegant and full-bodied finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"A bright, fruity style that offers flavours of blackcurrant, black cherry, iron and tobacco, supported by a lively structure. Lingers with a tangy, delicious finish." Wine Spectator
"The Tenuta le Colonne 2021 Costa Toscana Plenum punches above its weight with hints of dried mint, dark fruit and pencil shaving. The wine has a medium-rich finish with nice freshness and easy fruit." Wine Advocate

Rosso di Montalcino DOC 2021
Rich ruby red colour, precise, clear fruit on the nose with a very light mineral note. Pleasant, beautifully smooth flavour, round and of good substance. A Rosso di Montalcino with a lot of charm. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2021 Il Poggione Rosso di Montalcino offers medium weight fruit with dark cherry, wild plum and savoury spice. This is an excellent vintage with moderate summer temperatures and a long growing season, which is very favourable to Sangiovese, a grape that needs its time to mature and develop complexity. This Rosso also shows a particularly spicy character with nutmeg and cinnamon, which seems to come from both the grape skins and the 12 months in oak barrels." Wine Advocate
"The nose leads with earthy, umami aromas of balsamic and fresh soil, but fruit notes of cherry and blackberry gradually emerge. The palate runs with the fruit, but that fresh, almost stony earthiness persists to create a cool, bouncy feeling, like a sudden gust of wind. Acid acts as a whetstone for sharp tannins." Wine Enthusiast
"A juicy red with leather and undergrowth accents framing smoky cherry, plum and mineral flavours. Well-structured and long, with a solid grip of tannins on the lingering aftertaste. Offers fine intensity." Wine Spectator
"A beautifully spicy Rosso di Montalcino with cloves, dried flowers, sour cherries and orange peel on the nose. Creamy and medium to full-bodied, with chalky tannins and a ripe, chocolaty finish." James Suckling
"The 2021 Rosso di Montalcino immediately catches the eye, with a classic, dusty blend of dried cherries, worn leather and earthy tones, complicated by aromas of roasted meat. It is polished. A crisp minerality emphasises the pure red fruits, which are accompanied by a lively acidity. This leaves you wanting more, as the orange and cranberry flavours linger in the mouth for a long time. The 2021 is a fantastic, dynamic Rosso that makes me curious to see what the Brunello of the vintage will bring." Vinous

“Meczan” Pinot Nero Alto Adige DOC 2022
A South Tyrolean Pinot Noir could hardly be more harmonious: Medium cherry red colour, aromas of raspberry pulp and cassis. Round, soft on the palate, velvety tannins, delicate chocolate notes, juicy finish with fine fruit sweetness, elegant and long-lasting. SUPERIORE.DE
"This silky red has a light, pleasing plumpness that carries pure fruit notes of wild strawberry and cherry, with a rich thread of dried fig and roasted plum. A subtle, fragrant overtone of dried sage, orange peel, smoke-tinged minerality and spices lingers on the bright finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2022 Pinot Noir Meczan is remarkably pretty. Dusty rose and lavender tones complement wild strawberries. This sweeps across the palate with juicy textures and ripe wild berry fruits, complemented by hints of orange zest and tactile mineral tones. The Meczan tapers off fresh, nearly crunchy in feel and with medium length. This is a remarkable value for the purity and complexity within." Vinous

Etna Rosato DOC 2022
Strong apricot colour with a sparkling core. Aromas of apricot yoghurt, ripe peach and some lime on the nose. Well-balanced with great tension, slightly noticeable tannin in the middle section, opens up beautifully wide and fruity, ends with powerful pressure in the final and yet always remains elegantly mineral. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright strawberry pink colour. A nose of wet stone and graphite, with a hint of broom and cherry on the finish. Fresh and savoury on the palate, with an elegant tannin structure, fun to drink." Falstaff
"A clean-cut, minerally rosé geared to food pairing, with hints of stone and smoke underscoring dried white cherry, Marcona almond, pink grapefruit peel and dried herb notes. Creamy finish." Wine Spectator
"A quiet nose of just barely ripened wild strawberries and cherries also has a bit of the rubber and graphite of a No. 2 pencil, with tropical fruit flavors of guava and even banana emerging slowly, reiterated on the palate with a boost from blood orange." Wine Enthusiast

“Capitel Croce” Vino Bianco 2022
Capitel Croce is Anselmi's top white wine, made from 100% Garganega grapes and matured in old oak barrels. It opens slowly in the glass, with notes of green citrus and dusty dried flowers merging with freshly cut apricots and hints of ginger. It has a silky texture with ripe fruit and mineral notes that increase with every second. Finishes with medium length, blending young, crisp peach and inner flowers. Give this wine another year in the bottle to develop. A wine full of grace and elegance, full of finesse and complexity. SUPERIORE.DE
"A fresh, lithe white, with a minerally overtone of smoke and stone, showing good focus to the flavors of pineapple, yellow plum, pickled ginger and chive blossoms. Crisp finish." Wine Spectator
"This wine lays its soul in the glass with aromas that come and go, but never leave you. Notes of dried Mandarin orange, apricot, jasmine, tarragon and savory spice. Not to be outdone, the palate is lifted and vibrant with fresh acidity and notes of lemon oil, balanced almond and flint." Wine Enthusiast
"Citrus and a hint of sweet lychee character, along with a touch of oak. Medium-bodied with a rich core of ripe, sweetish fruit. The notes of dry almonds and fresh oak in the aftertaste have a slightly deadening, phenolic effect." James Suckling
"Garganega in purrezza vinified and aged in barrique, very multifaceted olfaction, notes of yellow plum, with touches of wild mint, lemon peel and gerbera. The palate is spicy-crunchy, with a fruity-menthol return and floral-citrus notes." Luca Gardini

With an incredible readership of three million wine lovers, Wine Spectator is one of the oldest and world's leading wine magazines in the USA. Founded in 1976 by Bob Morrisey, this English-language trade magazine has been under the wing of American publisher and editor Marvin R. Shanken for over forty years.
The trade journal publishes fifteen issues a year and is dedicated to detailed comparisons of current vintages as well as price-determining wine evaluations according to the recognised 100-point system. All Italian wines were awarded for twenty-nine years by the famous wine critic and then editor-in-chief James Suckling, although since 2010, after his retirement into independence, the Italy-savvy wine expert Bruce Sanderson has taken over the exciting role.
The Wine Spectator publishes an annual Top 100 ranking in which the countless wineries, from the big names to the smaller, lesser-known vintners, compete together for the title of the best wines in the world. Among international trade magazines, the English-language Wine Spectator with its rigorous team of critics is one of the most important players in the field of wine evaluation and offers insights worth knowing about the wine industry.
