The world-famous Antinori family, already in its 26th generation, is dedicated to the high art of viticulture and is involved with much love and commitment. But it was only shortly before the turn of the millennium that the wine dynasty began to gain its first experience in Puglia with the beautiful Tormaresca winery in the province of Brindisi, not far from the town of San Pietro Vernotico, which was acquired in 1998 and covers around 500 hectares. Nevertheless, the estate, which also includes olive groves, cereal fields and forests, has managed to develop into one of the most important wine houses in the southern Italian growing region in a very short period of time. A constant succession of growth and renewal processes in the vineyards and the cellar, in two estates with different climates and soil conditions, produce quality wines with a strong territorial identity.
Tormaresca's top products include Negroamaro Masseria Maime and Bocca di Lupo. The wines are authentic and complex and promise connoisseurs a high drinking pleasure. The organically produced Trentangeli and the bestseller Torcicoda are also worth mentioning. Both wines are of excellent quality and are highly praised in every vintage for their moderate price.
The 250-metre high vineyards of Bocca di Lupo are located not far from the Vulture volcano in Minervino Murge in the Murgia hills, which belong to the DOC Castel del Monte. On tuff soils, Aglianico and Nero di Troia are cultivated, as well as most of the white varieties - Fiano and Moscato di Trani in addition to international grape varieties. The climate in this area is characterised by high variations in temperature between day and night. Masseria Maime in Pietro Vernotico in Alto Salent - near the Adriatic coast between Lecce and Brindisi - is much larger than Bocca di Lupo. Negroamaro and Primitivo as well as the white varieties Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon thrive here. The use of the old Alberello method aims to reduce water consumption. However, the cordon education is also applied here. SUPERIORE.DE
