      “Ruspoli” Chianti Classico DOCG 2018

Rich ruby red. Bouquet of rose hips and ripe raspberries, juicy and gripping on the palate. For us, another beautiful facet of the Chianti Classico, as it must be: authentic, drinkable and with excellent value! SUPERIORE.DE

"Macerated cherry and raspberry fruit is accented by wild rosemary and a stony mineral element in this red. There is a fluid feel, yet it's also firm, and the tannins emerge on the finish." Wine Spectator

    • Chianti Classico DOCG 2018 (BIO)

      Chianti Classico DOCG 2018 (BIO)

Fine, lean and racy Chianti Classico from organic cultivation - and one of our special favourites for over 15 years. Engaging aromatics, dense, firm body, deep and juicy, with well-defined tannins and a fresh and appetising finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"Just mid crimson. Pretty nose of sour cherry with a hint of nutmeg. Lithe and almost ethereal on the palate. Tangy cherry fruit with sandpapery tannins with a touch of bitterness. Not hugely profound, all is set on elegance." Jancis Robinson

"A fresh, delicate Chianti Classico showing lots of typical character and brightness with orange-peel and bark undertones. Light to medium body, light tannins and a delicious, crisp finish." James Suckling

"The 2018 Chianti Classico is a very pretty, enticing wine. Crushed flowers, sweet red cherry, pipe tobacco, cedar and mint all grace this exquisite, ethereal Chianti Classico from Coltibuono. All the elements simply fall into place effortlessly. Silky tannins round things out in style. This is such a beguiling Chianti Classico." Vinous

"Pale ruby in hue but vibrantly scented, this displays a floral perfume of rose, violet and yellow broom, mingling with raspberry. Very appetising and fresh, it has an overall lightness of structure, with fine, elegant, powdery tannins and acidity which is expansive rather than piercing. Despite a feeling of weightlessness, it is a lovely, persistent wine." Decanter

"Fresh and fragrant, this has vinous aromas of red berry, blue flower and dark culinary spice. The bright savory palate doles out crushed raspberry, red cherry and baking spice alongside vibrant acidity and taut polished tannins." Wine Enthusiast

      Chianti Classico DOCG 2017 (BIO)

Our pure enthusiasm for this pure, authentic, wonderfully traditional Chianti Classico, which the very likeable Ingeborg Raspi Juergens and her family have been presenting to us for years: Ruby red, finely spicy, with refined depth of fruit, well proportioned on the palate, powerful, elegant structure, intense final. SUPERIORE.DE

"Mid ruby with orange tinges. Pretty, balsamic nose hinting at rich cherry fruit and with saline hints. Compact fruit that is not entirely open yet, followed by some fierce tannins. It will be interesting to see what this looks like in two years' time." Jancis Robinson

"This red is distinctive for its purity and charm. The supple texture and bright acidity usher the rose, cherry and raspberry flavors to a lingering conclusion. The firm structure lends support, ending with accents of earth and mineral." Wine Spectator

As usual since several vintages, the Chianti Classico La Selvanella Riserva distinguishes itself as an exemplary drop. The bouquet is complex, in which aromas of ripe plums harmonize excellently with hints of spices. Well articulated and offensive taste with polished tannins, full-bodied and progressive. Rich, dark shimmering ruby. Open-hearted, dense bouquet of blackberries, plums and a delicate hint of cloves in the background. Juicy on the palate, shows supple tannin, spreads nicely. Every year a great Chianti Classico with an exemplary price-quality ratio. SUPERIORE.DE

"Transparent garnet. Tangy and classic Sangiovese in which freshness of fruit overwhelms the fine tannin. Very appetising. A commendable standard-bearer. Some richness offsets the acidity." Jancis Robinson

"Once again, Brolio delivers a highly satisfying glass of Chianti Classico from the estate's expansive vineyards in Gaiole. The 2019 is balsamic in personality with scents of cedar, thyme and rosemary weaving through dark cherry. Velvety, powdery tannins provide a gentle, structural grip, while crunchy, citrussy acidity cleanses the mouth." Decanter

    Things to know aboutChianti
    Chianti & Chianti Classico

Chianti & Chianti Classico - Red wines with tradition from Tuscany.

Few people know what the many differences between Chianti and Chianti Classico are. The production area of the Chianti DOCG zone covers about half of Tuscany, with altitudes ranging from 50 to 700 metres. But those who talk about Chianti usually mean the core area, the landscape between Florence and Siena, with its picturesque historical centres, well-decorated country houses, morbid castles and renowned wineries, through which the picturesque Strada Chiantigiana meanders. Here excellent red wines from experienced and highly awarded winegrowers are produced. The list of famous wineries is long, here you can find the wonderful wines of Barone Ricasoli, Castellare, Castello di Ama, Felsina, Fonterutoli, Fontodi, Isole e Olena, Rocca delle Macie, Rocca di Montegrossi and many others.

In Chianti, the famous Sangiovese grape variety shows all its style of fine acidity and elegance.

It is the most important grape in Chianti Classico and there is hardly an Italian grape that is so versatile. It is not only the base for Chianti and Chianti Classico, but also for the noblest Brunello (Sangiovese Grosso) and Vino Nobile (Prugnolo Gentile). However, the Chiantis production area is much larger and stretches from the hills north of Florence to the west and east along the Arno river and to the south it also includes the areas around the famous wine villages of Montalcino and Montepulciano. To the east, the area is bordered by the splendid Monti del Chianti, which merge into the Apennines.

Between the vineyards of the entire cultivation zone Romanesque churches stand – known as Pievi – and the castles of Florentine and Sienese warlords. All in all, the six provinces of Arezzo, Florence, Pisa, Pistoia, Prato and Siena, with more than a hundred towns and municipalities, belong to the large area.

Authentic Sangiovese red wines from the best winegrowers of the region.

Discover one of the most exciting wine-growing regions in the world and browse through more than 100 labels, certainly the largest range of top producers in the Chianti region available in Germany, and taste the variety of the parade grape variety Sangiovese. SUPERIORE.DE
