    • "Campo Maccione" Vermentino Maremma Toscana DOC 2019

“Campo Maccione” Vermentino Maremma Toscana DOC 2019

Campo Maccione - a pure Vermentino from the sun-blessed vineyards of the Maremma, where the salty air of the sea is essential for the maturation of this ancient variety, as confirmed by the special aroma of the wine. Ten per cent of the grapes are fermented in barriques, giving it a slender stature and a pleasant acidity. On the nose lemony notes and aromas of light fruit and on the palate with a hearty aftertaste. SUPERIORE.DE

Generous aromas of fresh fruit, dried flowers, a light spiciness and moist earth. The taste is beautiful, with just the right tension of tannin, acidity and fruit, as befits a straightforward Chianti Classico. SUPERIORE.DE

"Cherry candy, caramel, but also dried beans, herbs. Fine, sandy tannin in restrained doses, a lot of juiciness, behind the tannin also some melt, mineral notes and with an overall still closed aroma, clear tendencies to spice. Good perspective!" Falstaff

“Famiglia Zingarelli” Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2016

Traditional Chianti Classico Riserva from a very good vintage: ruby red, intense and refined bouquet with fruity aromas and a very soft vanilla-tobacco touch; persistent taste, well-balanced tannins, well defined body. Has good storage potential. SUPERIORE.DE

"Dark glowing ruby red. Open nose, after raspberries and wild berries, honeydew melon, gentle spice underlines the bouquet. On the palate clear and fine, stretches beautifully, unfussy, medium body, balanced and harmonious until the final." Falstaff

"The 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva Famiglia Zingarelli is a forward, juicy wine for the vintage. Sweet dark cherry, leather, tobacco, spice, pine, cedar and dried flowers add aromatic nuance to this fruity, forward Riserva. Dollops of Colorino and Cabernet Sauvignon round out the blend. This is very nicely done." Vinous

"A ripe Chianti Classico with plum, light prune and orange-peel character. Hints of mahogany, too. Full body. Fine tannins and a fresh finish. Ripe style to this." James Suckling

    • "Roccato" Rosso Toscana IGT 2010

      “Roccato” Rosso Toscana IGT 2010

Deep purple. Spicy Cabernet nose of herbs, fine blackberry notes, some chocolate and forest raspberries; a pronounced fruit carries this monumental wine until the long finish, the tannins give a stable framework and give this wonderful Supertuscan a long life. SUPERIORE.DE

"The estate’s top wine, the 2010 Roccato is a 50-50 expression of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon that opens with a dark ruby-garnetcolor and a pretty aromatic display that spans from dried berry andcassis to exotic spice and dried garden herb. This is without a doubt Rocca delle Macie’s most complete and complex wine and the encouraging results of the 2010 vintage are on full display here. The bouquet is especially buoyant and bright. In the mouth, however, the wine offersdensity, firmness and menthol-laced freshness." Robert Parker

"Intense, bright ruby red with a shiny core. Fine nose of very ripe cherries, dried rose petals and delicate violets. A very smooth palate, enveloped in velvety tannins and a juicy draft, spans a wide arch and slowly builds up in many layers, remarkable elegance, great finish". Falstaff

This was not an easy growing season, but a commitment has evidently been taken here to severely limit fruit selection to only the best clusters. "The 2013 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Sergio Zingarelli is this estate's most ambitious wine. This Gran Selezione is robust and powerfully endowed in terms of its aromatic impact. In contrast, the mouthfeel is more streamlined and fine. This blend of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Colorino walks a fine line between bulk and finesse. The texture is silky and the wine offers pretty notes of dried cherry, plum and toasted spice on the finish." Robert Parker

    Rocca delle Macie

Although the company is one of the largest in Chianti Classico, the owners, Sergio and Daniela Zingarelli, never lose sight of their wide range of products, which is spread over several million bottles a year. Since 1989 Sergio has been President of the Rocca delle Macìe Winery in Castellina with passion and commitment. At this time he had taken over the estate from his father Italo Zingarelli who, after finishing his career as a film producer in 1973, still settled it as a farm under the name of "Le Macìe" for the first time. "Macìa" means "rockfall" in German - and it is precisely this name that characterises the soils in the Chianti region very well. Italo restored the estate, planted vines and olive groves. As early as 1978 he launched his first own Chianti on the market, which immediately met with great approval from wine critics, trade and gastronomy.

Italo Zingarelli also acquired the nearby Sant winery’Alfonso, which he developed into a modern wine cellar with modern oenological equipment. To this day, the winery is always kept up to date. With Lorenzo Landi as the new oenologist, the cellar technology approach was also redefined a few years ago.

The total area of the company now covers more than 600 hectares, of which more than one third is used for viticulture and 80 hectares for olive growing. Rocca delle Macìe is also known for its honey production. The property today includes with Macìe, Sant'Alfonso, Fizzano and Tavolelle have four estates in Chianti Classico and two in Maremma, Campomaccione and Casamaria.

The Tuscan wine producer has an excellent distribution network. The "Chianti Classico Rocca delle Macíe 2010" was selected by the magazine "wine world" to "Wine of the year 2012" and thus elected the best Italian red wine. (superiore.de)

"The company philosophy is based on a very prudent pricing policy, in which quantity and quality do not get in the way, but are sometimes at their best."Gambero Rosso
