• Barolo "Ravera" Riserva DOCG 2012

      Barolo “Ravera” Riserva DOCG 2012

Brilliant ruby red, in the nose a fully ripe berry bouquet with warm spice, mushroom and cocoa notes. Rich and juicy on the palate with sweet oak wood and lush fruit. Ravera Riserva 2012 culminates in a firm finish, in which the ripe fruit and polished tannins are once again evident. SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright ruby red. Intense, very typical Nebbiolo scent of the fine kind, fragrant cherry shades, especially wild cherry, in addition sweet tobacco, earthy notes, rose petals and liquorice. Very elegant palate, incredibly juicy with sweet spices and dried red berries. Despite its strength, it shows a certain refinement with silky tannins, piquant acidity and delicate astringency, which gives the wine a peppery freshness and animation. A racy ravera!" Weinwisser

"Mid ruby with orange tinges. Perfumed cherry and sweet raspberry with malty notes ad wet, dark earth and spice - perhaps this has seen a little new oak? full sour cherry palate completely filling out the palate, but still a little embryonic. Lots of polished coating tannins framing the ripe, supple fruit. Can already be approached, but a steak should be taken into account. Jancis Robinson

"Aromas of fresh mushrooms, blueberries and plums with orange peel follow through to a full body with layers of ripe tannins and fruit A long and flavorful finish. Loads going on here still. Just starting to come around." James Suckling

Only 4,000 bottles of Gran Selezione, the highest quality level in Chianti Classico, are produced in 2013 by Capannelle, which is known among wine lovers for its excellent wines. A guarantor for enjoyment at the highest level. SUPERIORE.DE

"Delicate, fine fruit, very balanced and persistent, with a racy structure. Dense, rich and pithy, very good freshness, remains very firm on the palate, with excellent depth." Weinwisser

"Powerful, sparkling ruby with a slight garnet shimmer. Intense nose, with notes of liquorice and tobacco, orange peel, plums and raspberry. Velvety and full at the same time on the palate, shows much ripened berry fruit, especially raspberry, opens with very smooth and dense tannin, very long reverberation". Falstaff

"Pressed iris, red-skinned berry, underbrush and a whiff of rosemary lead the nose on this 100% Sangiovese. The supple, juicy palate delivers black cherry, white pepper, leather and star anise alongside velvety, polished tannins. It's already accessible but will also age well for the next several years or more." Wine Enthusiast

    • Barolo "Baudana" DOCG 2013

      Barolo “Baudana” DOCG 2013

Fresh, sparkling ruby garnet. Opens with notes of pickled anchovies, then leather and dark wild raspberry. At the palate a lot of close-meshed, stoffiges tannin, pulls through rapidly, fine fruit, in the final firm pressure. Put away for some more years. SUPERIORE.DE

"Brilliant, medium ruby. Seems austere and quite closed in mouth and nose. Only with air a scent of red berries and floral hints develops. At the palate classic tannin structure, connected with a slowly intensifying, very pure fruit. Exceedingly vital, lots of inner tension and minerality." Weinwisser

"The 2013 Barolo Baudana opens with striking, beguiling aromatics. Deep, pliant and sensual on the palate, the 2013 exudes fruit intensity to the point the tannins are nearly buried. Intense savory and mineral notes provide an underpinning of virile intensity that builds into the super-expressive finish." VINOUS

"Seems open and forthcoming for the cherry, black currant and floral aromas and flavors, but this red has some punch too. The dense tannins provide support, while tobacco, green olive and mineral notes add depth. Terrific length." Wine Spectator

    • Barolo "Le Vigne" DOCG 2012

      Barolo “Le Vigne” DOCG 2012

Le Vigne is a splendid Barolo of Sandrone. The bouquet opens wide with aromas of fresh red fruits and a delicate spicy note. On the palate very intense, remarkably elegant, fine-grained tannins, extremely clear, structured and long. SUPERIORE.DE

"Sparkling, intense ruby with a garnet edge. Clear and intense nose, after ripe cherries, fine blackberry, some orange compote. Velvety and round in the base and course, builds up in many layers, much fine-meshed tannin, very polished, long reverberation, a great pleasure! Falstaff

"Delicate, mature color, little orange rim. Delicate and delicate also in the fragrance, with seductive sweetness and fine wood nuances as well as graphite; deep herb spice with fine, ripe fruit. Very broad in the mouth, multi-layered and balanced, very melty in the base, with noble tannins. On the other hand, it is Burgundian and delicate, with a fine-grained tannin structure, long and red berry clear in the aftertaste." Weinwisser

"Purity of fruit and balance here is very impressive. Firm and very silky tannins with a long, long finish that gives the wine amazing depth and intensity. Love the spicy and dense fruit character at the end of the palate." James Suckling

"A hint of oak lends this a spicy component, along with cherry, licorice and tar flavors. Racy and bright, with fine intensity and a long, tightly wound finish that seems to go on forever. Shows beautiful purity and class." Wine Spectator

"The Luciano Sandrone 2012 Barolo le Vigne shows the trademark ripeness that I so often identify in this historic product. The bouquet is round and plush with thick layers of dark cherry marmalade, blackberry preserves and dark currant. Beyond those apparent fruit aromas, Le Vigne offers dark spice and licorice with a beautiful menthol signature on the finish. The wine's natural structure is padded by soft tannins and lush fruit consistency." Robert Parker

    • Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2010

      Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2010

Complex scent of blackberries and spice notes, with hints of vegetabile. Dense taste with highly elegant tannins and a never-ending reverberation. SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright color for Valdicava. Sweet, delicate and fine in fragrance, very restrained fruit, harmonious and delicate, not as opulent as expected. Soft, ripe fruit in the mouth with a nutty note of fine wood aging, good, firm type. Completely rounded and full-bodied with a fine body and a well-fanned tannin presence."Weinwisser

"The gamy 2010 Brunello di Montalcino does a great job of presenting intensity and elegance all in the same delicious package. That's not easy to do and the excellent 2010 fruit plays a big role in achieving this goal. The wine offers a long succession of aromas that span from ripe fruit, to smoked meat, to grilled herb and soft spice. Delicate tones of licorice, cola and anise seed add life and energy. The list goes on. The wine's mouthfeel is best characterized by softness and structure, a two-fold approach that gives high hopes for the long aging potential of this wine. Valdicava's Brunello will appeal to those who love earthy and leathery notes in their Brunello."Robert Parker

"The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino is one of the very best wines I have tasted here in recent years. Dark red cherries, mint, game, smoke, tobacco and licorice are all deeply expressive in a mid-weight, very classic feeling Brunello long on class and personality. Big yet silky tannins frame the dramatic, intense finish."Antonio Galloni

"Effusive aromas of incense, green olive, sweet strawberry and cherry, licorice and leather mark this structured version. The tannins are on the beefy side, but this finishes long, with enough fruit and spice for balance."Wine Spectator

"Absolutely stunning aromas of nectarine, orange peel, sweet black cherry, plums and flowers. Licorice and mushroom It's full body, with layers of ultra-fine tannins and hints of tangy acidity. Such beautiful length and beauty to this wine. It's powerful and structured yet shows a gorgeous finesse and length. Truly wondrous. So long and refined. The texture is phenomenal."James Suckling

    • "Vigna Feldmarschall von Fenner" Müller Thurgau Alto Adige DOC 2017
MAGNUM in OWC

“Vigna Feldmarschall von Fenner” Müller Thurgau Alto Adige DOC 2017 · MAGNUM in OWC

The most famous Müller Thurgau of Italy: sublime sparkling straw yellow, very precise, clean scent, a potpourri of tropical fruits, some chamomile and a touch of nutmeg. On the palate it is surprisingly full-bodied and with lots of juicy fruit. An elegant, extra dry Müller Thurgau from the highest Müller Thurgau location in Europe with an impressive complexity and length for the grape variety. SUPERIORE.DE

"The "Feldmarschall" could be described as a kind of primordial figure of South Tyrolean cult wines, since he has long been a household name for insiders beyond all fashions. The Müller- Thurgau- vines grow at about 1.000m above sea level on sand, porphyry and dolomite limestone. It is matured in wood and stainless steel. The 2017 is still amazingly fruity with ripe mango, juicy peach and white stone fruit. In the mouth it is dense and creamy, again with rich, ripe vineyard peach and fine herbal notes." Weinwisser

"Bright, glistening straw yellow with a golden shimmer. Fruity nose with many layers, young apricot, raspberry, white flowers, delicate honey. On the palate it is smooth and round, opening up salty and fruity in the middle, powerful yet light-footed, coherent in its approach and progression, dancing to the final." Falstaff

"The 2017 Alto Adige Müller Thurgau Feldmarschall Von Fenner is one of those wines that wins you over slowly. In the past, I have been aware of the reductive winemaking approach, but this hot vintage expression is raring to go from the minute the wine pours into the glass. Dried lemon peel, green melon and crushed almond all come into view. The wine makes a sturdy impression in terms of mouthfeel with ample and round contours. Serve it with a wild herb risotto." Robert Parker

"A decently rich array of peaches and melon leads to a very juicy feel on the palate, where poached pears and quince pervade in pithy mode." James Suckling

"Peach, lees and kerosene aromas. Plenty of concentration and vibrancy on the palate with fresh jasmine and herbs and lively acidity." Decanter

"Luminous straw-green. Bright, beautifully chiseled pear, peach and white flower aromas and flavors. Just a little youthfully chewy at present on a mouth-coating, dense finish that features lingering echoes of herbs." Vinous

"Heady aromas of yellow stone fruit, alpine herb and white spring wildflower virtually leap out of the glass. Made from a single vineyard nearly 3,300 feet above sea level, it's delicious, elegant and enveloping, delivering ripe apricot, peach, white grapefruit and mineral alongside fresh acidity. A wet stone note lingers on the finish." (Platz 14 - "TOP 100" 2019) Wine Enthusiast

“The Wine Collection” Sauvignon Bianco Alto Adige DOC 2016 · 0,75l in Gift Box

With the 2015 vintage, the St. Michael-Eppan Winery began crowning select varietal wines for the first time. Only 3,000 bottles of these top selections enter the global market each year.

Also in 2016, the choice fell on a single-varietal Sauvignon Bianco from the best grapes of selected micro-locations. Gentle pressing with 3 days of skin contact, followed by 12 months of fermentation in tonneau and, in addition, another 15 months on the fine yeast in stainless steel tanks give it a unique depth and finesse. After another 9 months in the bottle, it is only released for sale. SUPERIORE.DE

"Another new release from this flagship winery. Only 3,000 bottles of this top selection reach the market every year. A single-varietal Sauvignon Blanc from the best grapes of selected micro-locations. Gentle pressing with 3 days of skin contact, then 12 months of fermentation in tonneau, 15 months on the fine lees in stainless steel tanks, 9 months in bottle. 100% barrique. Multi-layered bouquet with notes of gooseberries, herbs and ethereal notes like sage. Supple and polished, dense and generous fruit well embedded in the creamy melt with delicate toasted notes, beguilingly long final." Weinwisser

"Wide spectrum of aromas, passion fruit, sage. At the palate slim, creamy texture, aromatic power. Fine smoky notes, no lightweight, but still prancing. Enormous density, unusually high maturity potential." Vinum

"Sparkling yellow-green. Present, intense nose with notes of sage, elderflower and ripe dark currant, a little smoky in the background. Shows very good tension on the palate, notes of gooseberries, currant jelly and elderflowers, very long finish, creamy melt." Falstaff

"Luminous straw-green. Pungent wild herbs, orange peel, green fruits and spices on the nose. Round and broad on entry, then more linear and reserved in the middle, with enough saline edge to buffer the glyceral sweetness. Finishes long with flinty and stony notes." Vinous

"The 2016 Alto Adige Sauvignon The Wine Collection opens to bright aromas of passion fruit, papaya and wild sage. This is a lean-bodied white wine with smooth richness, a creamy texture and very pretty aromatic intensity. There is a modern or contemporary streak to this wine that takes it a step closer to a so-called international palate, but no matter—the wine is just terrific all the same. The Wine Collection series was created to showcase the estate's most prestigious and age-worthy wines." Robert Parker

    • Syrah Toscana IGT 2015

      Syrah Toscana IGT 2015

Le Pupille has a new wine. A long cherished vision of Elisabetta and her daughter Clara finds its completion in this crescence. This 100% Syrah builds on everything that the winery has achieved in recent years and for which it has gained world renown. The best grapes, careful selection and a sensitive, clever and innovative winemaking combined with a clearly recognizable signature and the already proverbial quality fanaticism.

The grapes for the first vintage (2015) of this exceptional wine come from the two estate vineyards Pian di Fiora and La Vigna del Palo. Pian di Fiora is the cooler site, with just 5 hectares, the grapes are destemmed by hand and then fermented in 500l clay amphoras. The grapes of the east-facing vineyard La Vigna del Palo are fermented in open 500l barrels. The wines are then married and matured in 300l barriques for another 10 months before the wines are then bottle aged for another 22 months.

Intense, deep red with dark ruby reflections. In the nose fresh notes of red berry fruits and spices, hints of black pepper. On the palate it is complex, with gripping tannin, a fine acid wire and a wonderfully balanced body. It has a great storage potential and is for us the classic meditation wine in appearance and expression. SUPERIORE.DE

"Densely woven, with super-fine tannin, dark berry fruit, hints of brown bread, dried goya berries, brine syrup and a slightly iodine note: an elegant, special wine that has absolutely nothing in common with the Syrah plants of the Northern Rhône, even if this is repeatedly claimed. I drank the 2015 at Milan's Restaurant Vun, where two-star chef Andrea Aprea served it with a shoulder of lamb and malted barley. Phenomenal." Dr. Jens Priewe (weinkenner.de)

"Mineral and spicy bouquet, very elegant and calming, yet very broad with earthy and tobacco notes with iron notes reminiscent of blood. Surprisingly fruity on the palate, but clear as a bell, almost pure and crisp, completely different style, very exciting and with a lot of finesse. A top Maremma Syrah." Weinwisser

"After a little aeration delicate aromas of dark forest fruits, flowers, spicy and smoky notes; polished in the mouth, the fine-grained tannins and the airy acidity in balance, shows race and cut to the final. Elegant, full of esprit and a delightful proof that a Syrah from Tuscany cannot be compared to any other Syrah (or Shiraz) in the world". Vinum

"This debut vintage is a classic expression of Syrah. With fruit drawn from 34-year-old vines, fermented both in terracotta amphorae (acquired from the Manetti family of Fontodi fame) and open-top tonneaux, then aged ten months in French barrique, the 2015 Le Pupille shows all the typical notes of Syrah and a nice roundness of tannin. It is a very tight wine that is layered and beautiful, carefully crafted to avoid reduction. This new line should be a winner for years to come. Congratulations." Robert Parker

"This is a new wine from Le Pupille and made in amphorae and large barrels. The aromas are a dead ringer for Côte-Rôtie! So much smoked meat, spice and dark fruit. Full-bodied, juicy and succulent with plenty of dark fruit and then a long and flavorful finish that shows gamey and earthy undertones. Clean and vivid. 3,000 bottles produced." James Suckling

    • "Terlaner I" Grande Cuvée Alto Adige DOC 2013

“Terlaner I” Grande Cuvée Alto Adige DOC 2013

Terlaner I (pronounced: Primo) Grande Cuvée is the white flagship of the Cantina Terlano. In recent years, the winery has made a name for itself worldwide with its long-lived, mineral white wines. The wines still present themselves after years in top freshness and with great complexity. With this long white wine history there is now since vintage 2011 a wine in which the essence of Terlan is expressed even more focused. The Terlaner I Grande Cuvée combines the Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Sauvignon grape varieties from the Winkl, Kreuth and Vorberg vineyards to create a masterpiece which, due to its limitations and exclusivity, can only be found at hand-picked retailers and in selected top restaurants.

Bright straw yellow, impressive fresh and varied bouquet of apricot and yeast pastry with herb notes of chamomile, lemon balm and lovage. On the palate smooth and creamy soft with a strong, still youthful acid structure and mineral tension. Silky and elegant in an almost infinitely long reverberation. SUPERIORE.DE

"Sparkling, rich straw yellow with green nuances. Playful and dense, it shows a lot of rich fruit, like mirabelle plums and apricots, followed by slightly smoky notes, like flintstone. Creamy and round on the palate, full-bodied, fine sweet melting, fine mineral play give the wine complexity, long finish." Falstaff

"Dense yellow with a golden shimmer. Very clearly drawn bouquet with fine yellow fruit, some melon, pear, there is a lot of Weissburgunder music in it. Dense and melty mouthfeel, the tension brings the mineral, juicy texture, which gets further emphasis by the present acidity, very clear and with impressive length! It's got juice and power." Weinwisser

"The Cantina Terlano 2013 Alto Adige Terlaner I Grande Cuvée is a quest for white wine perfection. The blend is 90% Pinot Bianco with 7% Chardonnay and 3% Sauvignon Blanc. It is fermented in large oak casks and then ages on the lees in oak for one year. This elaborate approach has shaped a fine and elegant bouquet with seamless integration. Stone fruit, citrus, toasted almond and Golden Delicious apple find impeccable balance. The wine boasts a creamy and rich textural personality. Cantina Terlano has a proven track record in terms of the aging potential of its excellent Pinot Bianco-based wines." Robert Parker

"The 2013 Terlaner I (Primo) Grande Cuvée is the most recent release of Terlano new prestige cuvée, which is meant to evoke memories of the epic wines from the 1950s and 1960s. The 2013 certainly hits all the right notes. Intensely mineral on the outset, the 2013 possesses striking aromatics and layers of finely sculpted fruit, not to mention tremendous overall balance. All the elements fall into place in this effortless, gracious Terlano. Graphite, lemon confit, mint, sage and chamomile wrap around the succulent finish. This is a jewel of a wine from Terlano." VINOUS

"A wine with delicious fruit with dried pear and pineapple aromas and flavors. Full body, dense and flavorful. Big and rich wine that remains fresh and agile. Bitter lemon. undertone. One of the top wines of Alto Adige." James Suckling

    • "Saffredi" Rosso Toscana IGT 2014
Double-MAGNUM in OWC

“Saffredi” Rosso Toscana IGT 2014 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

Saffredi was born in 1987 and is named after its location in the municipality of Magliano. This is where the grapes from which this monumental masterpiece is made originate. Only the colour deep dark ruby red, with interesting violet reflections shows a pompous wine of great terroir. In the very expressive bouquet there is a wonderful abundance of floral and earthy aromas, which harmonize beautifully with the scent of red berries. On the palate a concentrated fruit, very soft and deep, structured and endlessly long. SUPERIORE.DE

"Rich, deep dark ruby with a slight violet hue. Opened with spicy notes of sandalwood and tobacco, followed by rich notes of ripe forest blueberries, fleshy. On the palate dense and compact in approach and course, shows much dark berry fruit, clear and full, fine-meshed tannin, floats long there, long reverberation." Falstaff

"Dense purple. Intense, radiant, clear bouquet with dark and blueberry fruits (blackcurrant, blueberry), earthy-smoky aromas with a touch of graphite, tobacco and sweet (liquorice) spices and precious woods. There is a lot of Cabernet spice resonating. On the palate it is intense, rich and with a densely interwoven structure, linear and clear, showing great freshness, finesse and presence, with a finely polished tannin structure, persistent intensity and a long aftertaste." Weinwisser

"Sexy blueberry, spice and black pepper. Mushroom. Full body and ultra-fine tannins. Extremely long and just starting to come around now. Needs a little more time in bottle. Splendid finish. Try in 2019 but already amazing." James Suckling

"This perfumed red offers aromas of cedar, sage, black currant and oak spice. Vivid acidity drives the complex flavors, with substantial grip on the finish." Wine Spectator

"Offers good depth and translucence in the mid-weight style of the year. Grilled herb, lavender, plum, menthol and sage are some of the many nuances that are woven together in this distinctly mid-weight Saffredi. Although a touch slender, as so many wines are in this vintage, the 2014 Saffredi has quite a bit of staying power and overall persistence. As is so often the case with wines from cooler years, time in the glass does wonders here." Antonio Galloni

Barolo “Le Vigne” DOCG 2012 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

    • Barbaresco "Costa Russi" DOP 2013

      Barbaresco “Costa Russi” DOP 2013

Barbaresco Costa Russi with a fruity spicy bouquet and a well integrated wood note. On the palate very powerful, excellently structured and with an ethereal expression of dark fruit, smoke, liquorice, tar and menthol. And then the finale, which literally lasts an eternity. SUPERIORE.DE

"Transparent glowing ruby garnet. Fresh and juicy in fragrance, with red berry expression, very elegant and noble, with fine cherry aromas from fresh to confectioned. Multilayered, with some chocolate and very fine spice. Wide open in the mouth, open, complex and inviting, hardly noticeable wood. Full-bodied on the palate, with great tension, from the racy, firm acidity it finds eloquent to a highly differentiated, chocolaty finish. Despite its high concentration, the Costa Russi shows maximum transparency with fine tannins arranged in close meshes, long and balanced, with excellent freshness in the back aroma. A Clos de la Roche from Nebbiolo." Weinwisser

"The 2013 Barbaresco Costa Russi is a real head-turner. Crystalline and utterly vivid in its expression of Nebbiolo, the 2013 is all class. Stylistically, the Costa Russi is closest to the straight Barbaresco, but it has a little more mid-palate sweetness and density. Bright floral and minty notes add lift on the chiseled, expressive finish. The Costa Russi is the star of the show this year, considering it is the least pedigreed of Gaja's three single-vineyard sites. The 2013 has been stunningly beautiful on the three occasions I have tasted it so far." Antonio Galloni

"Medium ruby color. The class, strength and finesse to this wine are ever present with berry, dark-chocolate and walnut character. Full-bodied, dense and chewy. Very fresh. Chocolate, mango and ripe-strawberry flavors herald a bright finish." James Suckling

"A glorious Nebbiolo nose of cascading damask roses straight from the garden after a heavy rain. On the palate, red plums and mulberry juice are perfumed with freshly turned earth. Of the three crus, this is the most generous, with a looser structure and silky texture. 2013 is a cool vintage and the freshness of the finish is a testament to this. Forthcoming and delicious." Decanter

"The 2013 Barbaresco Costa Russi is a celebration of vineyard site. In the past, this wine was blended with 5% Barbera, but this is no longer the case starting now. For the first time in recent memory, we are tasting a pure expression of Nebbiolo as harvested from the rows of vines in the Costa Russi cru, located directly below Sorì Tildìn at the base of the Barbaresco village. The vines are over 65-years-old and are planted in limestone clay and marl soils. Costa Russi is known for delicate, light-bodied wines that exhibit floral aromas of rose hip and lavender, as well as darker fruit tones at the back. Those qualities are beautifully evident in this vintage. The mouthfeel is characterized by a firm sense of tannic structure that is common to all of Gaja's new releases in the 2013 vintage." “Saffredi” Rosso Toscana IGT 2017 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

Deep dark ruby red. Floral nose with a lot of red, warm fruit and delicate herbal notes. On the palate smooth and elegant with a wonderful depth and structure. Then again herbs, in addition violets, some plums and a touch of tar and leather. Saffredi literally sneaks up on you, until it merges with an impressive presence and elegance into a very long and harmonious finish. One of the great wines of Italy full of elegance! SUPERIORE.DE

"From the hot and dry year. Amazingly cool woven bouquet with dense aromas of black fruits, blackberry, chocolate and roasted mocha. The typical spicy and ethereal scent of Mediterranean maquis is also present. Intense and creamy dense palate shows the face of the vintage, which thanks to earlier harvest has enough freshness and drive to keep the enormous fullness and inner strength elegantly and skilfully in check. Great performance in such a hot year. Bravo! Can be drunk soon." Weinwisser

"Just bottled, the 2017 Saffredi is a huge, unctuous wine that captures all the natural richness of the year in spades. Rich and super-concentrated, with huge fruit, the 2017 is going to need a number of years to shed some of its baby fat, but it is a superb wine in the making. Coffee, licorice and spice all develop, and yet it is the wine's sheer depth that leaves the lasting impression." Vinous

"A dry, warm year produced an early harvest of high-quality, concentrated, thick-skinned grapes. The blend remains 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot. It has intense, bright aromas of black cherries and berries. The palate is tight, with concentrated fruit, dark chocolate and coffee, alongside firm, fine-textured, sustained tannins. Tightly packed, focused and elegantly balanced. Very promising." Decanter

"Gorgeous blackberries, dark chocolate, spice and lightly roasted coffee. Full body. Layered and creamy. Lovely, silky tannins that melt into the wine. A beautiful red from the vintage with class and finesse to the depth of fruit." James Suckling

"Wow, there is a very impressive freshness here that defies the heat of this vintage. The 2017 Saffredi does not seem like a 2017 at all. Now celebrating its 30th birthday, Saffredi is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot. Thanks to the vineyard's proximity to the sea, leaving leaves on the vines and the sharp diurnal shifts of the area, the fruit was able to ripen in a balanced manner despite the hot and dry summer. The team at Fattoria le Pupille knew they would have to be ready to harvest early and lose some their yields, and they did. In the end, production was down 25%, but the result is a fresh, thick and beautiful red made with ripe fruit and dark concentration. This is a great effort from Fattoria le Pupille." Robert Parker

Perfect Supertuscan, warmth and freshness, elegance and harmony in harmony! Sweet scent of highly ripe cherries and berries with beautiful floral notes. Also in the mouth mature and with lots of fruit charm, spicy and pleasant acidity. The Saffredi has bite and a nice length with ripe tannin. SUPERIORE.DE

"Dark purple red with violet hue and black center. Intense nose with sweet fruit, blackberries, stewed plums and figs, hints of leather in the background. On the palate well balanced tannins, well structured with good lengh." Markus del Monego

"From the Textbook Vintage, where for the first time in the blend of Alicante was replaced by Syrah. Shining ruby grenade. Grandiose bouquet with floral aspects and red fruits, currants, cassis, orange peel and with sweet spices, simply intoxicating. On the palate silky elegant texture, yet rich and deep, but without reaching the lavish fullness of the 2011, for me it is cooler and more elegant, with fantastic length, so I rate it much higher than previous WW ratings from before my time. This is a great Maremma cinema for me." Weinwisser

"Concentrated lustrous ruby with orange tinges. Amazing concentration and precision, with very fine oak. Concentrated palate, which is more savoury than sweet. Great crunchy red and ripe fruit with amazing balance. Lovely and hedonistic, long and layered." Jancis Robinson

"The aromas of blueberries and lavender come out nicely in the glass. Full body, with fine tannins and a bright acidity. The texture is wonderful here. Needs two or three years to come together. Saffredi is a benchmark in Tuscany's Maremmaregion." James Suckling

Floral nose with a lot of red, warm fruit and delicate herbal notes. On the palate it is smooth and elegant with a wonderful depth and structure. Then again herbs, in addition violets, some plum and a touch of tar and leather. Saffredi literally sneaks up on him until he then goes into a very long and harmonious finish with an impressive presence and elegance. One of the great Italian wines from an equally great Tuscany vintage! SUPERIORE.DE

"From the dream year. Cool, very precisely woven bouquet with dense aromas of red and black fruits, wonderfully floral with violets and lavender, along with spicy and ethereal notes of Mediterranean kitchen herbs, leather, chocolate and liquorice. On the palate, it is equally powerful and loaded with dense, blackberry fruit, but with linear discipline, as it remains powerful and gripping until the long final, which again offers the full range of aromas". Weinwisser

"Deep ruby with a fine violet hue. Intense and dense nose, shows notes of pickled blackberries, plums and cassis, lots of cardamom. On the palate it shows a lot of ripe berry fruit, round and smooth, lots of blackberry and blackcurrant, present, well integrated tannin, very long and persistent. Falstaff

"A generally uneventful growing season led to good ripening at a measured pace. It's a radiant, deep colour with an elegant, fresh nose of floral and patisserie aromas leading to a palate which has the same elegant cast and freshness, but it’s also concentrated and sweet-fruited, with lively, intense black fruit and notes of forest-floor, fresh bay leaf and spicy sandalwood. It has a very good future, underpinned by fine, persistent tannins." Decanter

"One of the highlights in this range, the 2016 Saffredi is a hugely promising wine marked by a beguiling combination of vertical structure, energy and concentration. Black cherry, lavender, spice, plum, sage and lavender all pulse with remarkable energy. Massive and yet remarkably vivid for such an intense wine, the 2016 is shaping up to be a real jewel of a wine." Vinous

"This vintage is compact, firm and precise, with lovely floral aromas on the bouquet in front of blackberry and plum. Long oak toasting gives the wine tasty notes of spice and cinnamon and rounds the bouquet off nicely. The mouthfeel is soft and velvety. This is a complex, integrated and absolutely beautiful wine." Robert Parker

"Incredible aromas of dark berries, lavender, rosemary, licorice and dried flowers. Spice. Full body and fantastic tannin texture with great length. Goes on for minutes. Muscular yet wonderfully formed and refined. A glorious Saffredi." James Suckling (Platz 12 - TOP-Weine Italien 2018)

    • "Saffredi" Rosso Toscana IGT 2016
GOLIATH 18 Liters in OWC

“Saffredi” Rosso Toscana IGT 2016 · GOLIATH 18 Liters in OWC

On the palate, it is just as powerful and loaded with dense, blackberry fruit, but with linear discipline, as it remains powerful and gripping until the long final, which again offers the full range of aromas".

    Things to know aboutWEINWISSER
    WEINWISSER

The WEINWISSER was founded in 1992 by the Swiss wine pope René Gabriel and the gastro critic Wolfram Meister as the Swiss equivalent of Parker's wine advocate. Like Wine-Advocate, the "independent newsletter for all those who want to know more about wine" consisted only of individual DIN A4 sheets of paper stapled together. Since the well-known wine critic Giuseppe Lauria (formerly part of the Gault Millau team of chief tasters) took over as editor-in-chief, the layout has been significantly modernized. Lauria has also promoted the profile of the magazine in terms of content and sharpened it to include fine wines from all over the world.

WEINWISSER is one of the leading German-language wine and tasting magazines for wine professionals and ambitious wine lovers. For more than 25 years WEINWISSER has stood for independent and competent wine criticism. The 12-headed team of expert authors of WEINWISSER under the direction of editor-in-chief and wine critic Giuseppe Lauria (formerly part of the chief taster team of the Gault Millau) systematically tastes, describes and evaluates more than 4,000 high-quality top wines from all over the world every year and thus offers a unique purchasing and orientation aid for wine professionals, passionate and demanding wine lovers.

WEINWISSER informs about current wine trends, presents the best and most exciting wines and wineries of the world as well as interesting newcomers and wine personalities. New sections you will find in this magazine are Wine.Personality.of the Month, Wine.of the Month and Pearls.of the Month, in which international top decision makers, top wines and top sparkling wines are regularly portrayed exclusively and in detail.

Since 2008 the WEINWISSER has been part of the German publishing house Konradin Selection. Since then, well-known German-speaking wine journalists have been assessing international top wines and providing well-founded tasting notes. The WEINWISSER evaluates in a 20-point system. SUPERIORE.DE
