“Somereto” Chardonnay Alto Adige DOC 2020
The straw-yellow Somereto smells fruity and intense of ripe banana and other tropical fruits. On the palate, it has a supple texture, voluminous and very persistent, with pleasant acidity. A modern cosmopolitan with beautiful freshness, straightness and power. SUPERIORE.DE
"There's so much exotic and citrus fruit in this generous yet totally vibrant chardonnay that you'd need to hate dry white wine not to enjoy it! Excellent balance and a long, very even-tempered finish." James Suckling
"Offering a crisp, mid-weight style, the Cantina Andriano (Kellerei Andrian) 2020 Alto Adige Chardonnay Somereto reveals yellow fruit and a hint of something toasted like almonds or cumin seeds. The wine shows a nicely creamy style and a terrific presentation of easy flavors that are bright, primary and pure. This would be a nice white to have with a fried or blackened snapper filet." Pinot Grigio Alto Adige DOC 2020
Light golden yellow. Fine, restrained nose of delicate white flowers and yellow fruity nuances. Juicy and clear on the palate, round melting with harmonious play, medium length and very full of character. SUPERIORE.DE
"Brimming with fresh fruit-salad aromas, this is a a juicy, succulent wine with way more depth and structure than the norm for this category. However, it remains delightfully easy to enjoy, thanks to the spot-on balance through the long finish." James Suckling
"The Cantina Andriano (Kellerei Andrian) 2020 Alto Adige Pinot Grigio is a classic expression of this versatile grape from a cool climate. The bouquet opens to citrus, pear and pretty notes of glossy rubber or latex. The wine ends with balanced freshness and a lean-bodied style." Robert Parker

Gewürztraminer Alto Adige DOC 2020
Intense and clear bouquet, spicy and scented of roses, peach and white flowers. On the palate, beautiful rich and aromatic fruit, but also sparkling acidity that gives the wine tension and freshness. SUPERIORE.DE
"A fresh, clean style of gewurztraminer with nice, yellow-rose and papaya notes. Quite spicy on the generous palate, the tannins building towards the finish. But there's enough fruit to carry this nicely." James Suckling
"This wine is certainly floral and fragrant but not in an exaggerated manner. The 2020 Alto Adige Gewürztraminer produces a nice sense of clarity with aromas of star jasmine, acacia and honeycomb. The bouquet also releases some savory herbal pulses with sage or lemongrass. If you dig a bit deeper, you'll find plenty of crushed mineral as well. It would make a nice pairing for a ceviche on a summer day." Robert Parker

“Andrius” Sauvignon Bianco Alto Adige DOC 2019
Sauvignon Andrius matures for six months on the yeast and is a lively, well-structured white with great varietal typicity. Ripe peaches, dried apricots, juicy honeydew melon, candied almonds, flowers and a hint of mint combine with the elegant style to create a remarkable overall picture. Great class! SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, radiant straw yellow. In the nose of flint and fresh lemon, in the second reverberation with slightly exotic nuances, a hint of white pepper. On the palate with fine sweet melting, spreads elegantly and pleasantly over the tongue, fresh, very clear, very precise in the final." Falstaff
"A ripe and citrusy style of sauvignon blanc with great succulence and a surprisingly light touch for 14% alcohol. Plenty of subtle herbal and sweet, vegetal notes add interest on the nose and palate, the finish very harmonious." James Suckling
"Pretty nose of restrained white fruit, gooseberry and citrus, palate of white peach, nettle and a cool acidity." Decanter
"The Cantina Andriano (Kellerei Andrian) 2019 Alto Adige Sauvignon Blanc Andrius is true to the grape with lots of zesty green apple, passion fruit, crushed white stone and a focused Dolomite character that comes on strong here in this 14% alcohol edition. The wine is snappy, linear and tight with tons of energy. This is a very successful expression of Italian Sauvignon Blanc." Robert Parker

“Juvelo” Gewürztraminer Passito Alto Adige DOC 2017 dolce
Andrian's jewel Juvelo comes from limestone gravel soil interspersed with angular white dolomite rock. The harvest usually takes place in November, when almost 100% of the grapes are affected by Botrytis (noble rot).
Rich, sparkling golden yellow. Clearly defined, intense nose, showing notes of dried apricot, quince, and in the background raspberry and beeswax. Well-balanced and clear in the beginning and course, very precise, shows notes of apricot also on the palate, some quince, in the final very long. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, shining golden yellow with brilliant engraving. Noble spicy nose, complex and clear, shows fine notes of dried apricots, daisies, dates and roasted almonds, candied lemons. Fresh and light-footed on the palate, opens creamy and creamy on delicate nutty tones, spans an elegant arc, precise, juicy and balanced to the long, sweet final." Falstaff
"Vivid golden yellow. Ripe mango, grapefruit, lemon curd and flowers on the enticing nose. Then rich and dense, but with very good cut to the orchard and tropical fruit flavors, sexed up by a boatload of sweet spices. Finishes long and mellow but with good freshness. Andrian can always be counted on to make a great wine from Gewürz." Vinous
"The 2017 Alto Adige Gewürztraminer Passito Juvelo (produced in a 375-milliliter bottle) is a very special wine that wraps over the palate like silk sheets. The bouquet is enormously fragrant and rich with honey, brown sugar, candied orange peel and sweet almond paste. The wine is thick and extra creamy in texture, especially in this warm vintage that resulted in more concentrated fruit. The grapes undergo three hours of so-called mash time before gentle pressing. The wine is fermented in oak and aged in barrel for 11 months." Robert Parker

“Juvelo” Gewürztraminer Passito Alto Adige DOC 2018 dolce
Andrian's gem Juvelo comes from limestone gravel soil interspersed with angular white dolomite rock. Clearly marked, intense nose, showing notes of dried apricot, quince, with raspberry and beeswax in the background. Balanced and clear in approach and course, very precise, shows notes of apricot also on the palate, some quince, very long in the final. SUPERIORE.DE
"Showing brilliant golden rays and sunbeams that shine from deep within, the 2018 Alto Adige Gewürztraminer Passito Juvelo is an incredibly fragrant and expressive dessert wine made with air-dried fruit from high-altitude vineyards (at 500 meters above sea level) with a mix of calcareous soil, gravel and white shards of dolomitic rock. The wine opens to fresh summer jasmine, orange blossom, white raisins and candied almond. The mouthfeel is extra rich and creamy, with an opulent honey-like texture. This is a gorgeous wine (made in limited numbers with just 2,500 small bottles produced) that offers precision and sharpness on the one hand and crazy luxuriousness on the other." Robert Parker

“Gant” Merlot Riserva Alto Adige DOC 2018
Deep Merlot Riserva with a multi-layered bouquet reminiscent of dried fruits, wild raspberries, blackberries and tobacco. On the palate, very dense fruit, strong body and polished tannin. Good ageing potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"Full and open blueberry nose that's ripe, but also has plenty of mint. Very juicy and ample on the palate with a hint of tar. Fresh acidity keeps the alcohol in check and the finish clean." James Suckling
"The 2018 Alto Adige Merlot Riserva Gant is a beautiful wine that will appeal to Merlot enthusiasts who appreciate supple richness paired with etched, cool-climate elegance. This wine offers aromas of wild cherry and blackberry with delicate hints of leather and tobacco. Those savory tones play a supporting role, leaving the dark fruit as the certain protagonist. The mouthfeel is soft and plush, and therein lies the paradox of the 2018 vintage: The wines feel riper and more mature, owing to a growing season that started cool and ended with much warmer temperatures." “Tor di Lupo” Lagrein Riserva Alto Adige DOC 2018
Powerful, dark Lagrein Riserva, smells intensively of bitter chocolate, sour cherries and wild berries. Velvety, continuous taste, well structured, juicy, fine tobacco note in the final. SUPERIORE.DE
"Big black-cherry fruit with a slug of bitter-mint chocolate. Full and ripe with generous, supple tannins that fill out this bold lagrein very nicely. Good length and not too much chocolate character at the finish." James Suckling
"The Cantina Andriano (Kellerei Andrian) 2018 Alto Adige Lagrein Riserva Tor di Lupo is inky dark and impenetrable in appearance. The wine shows thickness and weight, although the fruit aromas are downplayed in this vintage. You get blackberry preserves and dark plum delivered in a less specific swirl of darkness, with some mild earth and spice sprinkled throughout. The wine's strongest suit is its mouthfeel, which shows deep layering and nice texture." Robert Parker

In 2008, a new era began for Andrian Winery. From an administrative point of view, it has since been part of the Terlan winery, but the Andrian brand and its wines are now better known and more independent than ever. At the end of the 19th century, the winegrowers of the dreamy village of Andrian, situated on the right bank of the Adige River at an altitude of 285 metres, joined forces to form the first cooperative winery in South Tyrol. With great diligence and intuition, the 90 members constantly work on a wine quality that can survive in modern times. After the merger with the Cantina Terlano on the left bank of the Adige River, the profile of the cooperative was sharpened. The sales regions were considerably expanded. Above all in Italy and the USA, the level of awareness of the Andrian winery, which has long been popular mainly in Germany, has risen significantly.
The vines, most of which face east and south, grow on clayey limestone soils interspersed with angular white dolomite rock. The loose composition of the substrate ensures a balanced water balance, good ventilation and deep roots. The climate in the middle Adige valley is Mediterranean. The vines enjoy many hours of sunshine. At an altitude of 260 to 340 metres, on the light eastern slopes, the sun spoils mainly late ripening grape varieties.
After the alliance with Terlan, the second oldest winery in South Tyrol, the number of Andrian wines was reduced. The drops of the house are converted into two lines depending on the grape material and processing method. The classic selection of fourteen individual DOC wines with a terroir emphasis is prominently complemented by four selection wines that are true to the variety and come from older vines whose yields are kept extremely low. The selections, which mature in the extended cellar partly in small oak barrels, partly in stainless steel, captivate by a balanced acidity, powerful elegance, freshness and complexity. Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewürztraminer, Lagrein and Pinot Blanc are the most strongly represented vines in the portfolio, with roughly equal proportions.
According to the management, white wines account for 64 percent and red wines for 31 percent of the total production of the restructured Andrian winery. In the meantime, the cooperative, which also has many years of expertise in red wines, has its first Pinot Noir in its range. SUPERIORE.DE
"The leap in quality is remarkable and the wines are really impressive. A classic is the Lagrein Tor di Lupo, which was one of the country's first premium lagrein at the end of the 1980s. The Andrian sites are obviously also very suitable for Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Gewürztraminer. A novelty is the Pinot Noir Anrar, which is only available in very limited quantities."Falstaff
