Anrar is the answer to a simple question: what happens when South Tyrol's second most important red grape variety is aged in wood? Whilst the classic Pinot Nero retains its freshness in stainless steel, Anrar takes a different approach. Around 12 months in French barriques for malolactic fermentation and further ageing. No overpowering oak, but rather elegant integration. That's what makes the difference. But that's not all: the grapes come from the finest Pinot Nero vineyards around Andrian. Altitudes between 350 and 450 metres, where the calcareous loam soils are interspersed with dolomite rock. The cooler microclimate ensures slow ripening, higher acidity and finer tannins. Perfect for a Pinot Nero with Burgundian aspirations.

A medium-intensity ruby red with a delicate garnet sheen. The bouquet is complex and refined: red cherries and raspberries dominate, accompanied by notes of pomegranate and undergrowth, black tea, and a hint of oriental spices. Subtle toasted aromas from the barrique ageing round off the aromatic profile. On the palate, it is both concentrated and elegant. Velvety tannins envelop the juicy fruit, whilst the lively acidity provides vigour and balance. The oak ageing lends the wine additional texture without masking the typical Pinot Noir elegance. "The 2022 Pinot Noir Riserva Anrar is a full-bodied wine with a refined character, resulting from extended ageing in oak and in the bottle. Fermentation begins in stainless steel, and the second fermentation is completed in barriques following gentle cap management with pumping over. Dark currants, conifers and sweet spices come to the fore in a medium-bodied finish. The grapes come from a vineyard situated at an altitude of 470 metres above sea level on loamy and reddish limestone soils with layers of white dolomite rock.
