      “Berardenga” Chianti Classico DOCG 2017

Sangiovese in pure culture: Medium ruby, rich in fruity floral aromas, multi-layered, deep and of good polish with further development potential. A full-bodied and harmonious Chianti Classico with a highly authentic style. SUPERIORE.DE

"Mid ruby. Inviting cherry and iron nose with a hint of liquorice. Supple cherry palate with plenty of coating tannins. Succulent and suave." Jancis Robinson

"The 2017 Chianti Classico Berardenga is an absolutely gorgeous wine. Racy, powerful and sumptuous in the glass, the 2017 offers terrific depth and textural resonance. Sweet black cherry, plum, mocha, licorice and spice bring out the darker side of Sangiovese. Bold and racy, the 2017 will drink beautifully right out of the gate." Vinous

"The 2017 Chianti Classico Berardenga is a fine and precise wine that shows some of the warmth, good cheer and exuberance of the vintage, but that ultimately proves to be better contained and more carefully etched than I would have anticipated. The bouquet starts off with black fruit and light shadings of spice, but the best part is in those mineral aromas of flint and slate. Serve it with stuffed red peppers." Robert Parker

"Rich, with black cherry, plum, iron and violet aromas and flavors, this red is suave and multidimensional. Vibrant and balanced, featuring a lingering finish that echoes the fruit and adds a spice accent." Wine Spectator

"A very fresh 2017 with plenty of tight and linear tannins that give the wine energy and drive. Medium to full body. Racy finish. This is impressive. Fantastic texture and complexity on the palate with purple fruit and wet earth." James Suckling

“I Sistri” Chardonnay Toscana IGT 2016

Straw yellow Chardonnay with banana and white flower scent, fresh, hearty taste, crunchy fruit fullness and beautiful length. One of the great white wines of Tuscany! SUPERIORE.DE

"Made entirely with Chardonnay and aged in barriques, this medium-bodied white offers delicate aromas of yellow stone fruit, crushed herb and a whiff of toast. The polished linear palate demonstrates restraint and finesse, delivering mature yellow apple, peach, a sprinkling of ginger and coffee notes. Fresh acidity keeps it balanced." Wine Enthusiast

"The oak-aged 2016 I Sistri (100% Chardonnay) opens to a soft golden color with bright luminosity. There is a lot of character and aromatic intensity here, thanks to the optimally ripened quality of fruit. You get warmer tones of peach, pear and apricot, but you also get cooler tones of mint and white almond. Twelve months in oak give this wine a mid-weight feel with toasted flavors and creamy density." Robert Parker

"An opulent chardonnay with all the bells and whistles, giving the wine so much cooked apples, lemons, vanilla and hints of butterscotch. Full-bodied, bright and lively. Goes on for minutes. Best ever?" James Suckling

Straw yellow Chardonnay with banana and white flower scent, fresh, hearty taste, crunchy fruit fullness and beautiful length. One of the great white wines of Tuscany! SUPERIORE.DE

"The Fèlsina 2017 Chardonnay I Sistri is a medium-bodied white wine with equal parts exotic fruit, toast and spice. The oak-driven notes here resemble pastry crust and sweet custard cream. This is a very well-executed and finely crafted wine with balanced thickness, acidity and fruitiness that ultimately find harmony in the glass. Serve it with some Florentine gnudi: spinach and ricotta balls." Robert Parker

"Always a beautiful white and this shows lemon curd, vanilla, fresh apricots, peach pit, vanilla and a touch of butterscotch. I love the oiliness to the texture here, which interacts beautifully with the underlying freshness and taut acidity. Full-bodied, but very finely tuned." James Suckling

The Chianti Classico Riserva unfolds its inviting scent, reminiscent of ripe cherries with notes of spices, with a penetrating and wonderfully clear colour. Dense and extremely juicy on the palate, with a good tannin pack, full of personality and authenticity. SUPERIORE.DE

"A deep, powerful wine, the 2013 Chianti Classico Riserva has quite a bit of depth for a cool, late-ripening vintage. Sage, tobacco, menthol, smoke and dark cherry hit the palate in a deep, beautifully layered Chianti Classico endowed with real personality and class. This is another terrific wine from Fèlsina. Hints of leather, smoke and licorice reappear on the deeply expressive, virile finish." Antonio Galloni

Unsurpassably good in the 2016 dream year: the Chianti Classico Riserva unfolds its inviting, ripe cherry-like scent with notes of spices in a vivid and wonderfully clear colour. Dense and extremely juicy on the palate, with a good tannin pack, full of personality and authenticity. SUPERIORE.DE

"This is a very cedary Chianti Classico, the wood showing prominently, but also showing beautiful dried rose petals and orange rind. Full-bodied with structured tannins and a chewy finish." James Suckling

"The 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva shows all the quality and pedigree of the year in its layered personality and overall nuance. Cedar, dried cherry, game licorice and tobacco convey the darker, gamier side of Sangiovese that is such a signature at Fèlsina. The 2016 finishes with terrific energy and bright acids that suggest it will enjoy a long life in the cellar, but readers should plan on giving it at least a few years in bottle." Vinous

"This red offers density and focus, creating an ideal frame for the cherry, strawberry, almond, leather and earth flavors. A firm backbone of tannins lends structure and the finish persists, leaving an accent of bitter almond." Wine Spectator

"Streamlined and elegant, this mid-weight red trots out notes of grilled herb and dark fruit nuances that segue to spice, tilled earth and savory tobacco, with great complexity. This 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva Berardenga is still a bit closed and tight, but this beautiful wine boasts all the best qualities of this vintage. It shows elegance and power, two contrasting characteristics that only work well together in the world's most achieved expressions. The most satisfying aspect of this Riserva is the crisp acidity on the close that keeps the palate refreshed and ready for the next sip." Robert Parker

Vin Santo del Chianti Classico DOC 2007

A strong golden colour, with a beguiling nose of orange, peach, apricot and ripe pineapple. A light almond note on the palate with a clear grape character and elegant, fatty sweetness. An ideal dessert and meditation wine for special occasions. SUPERIORE.DE

"A beautiful, maturing vin santo with a wonderful, creamy quality running right through the palate. The dried-mango and candied-orange character that it shows right now matches the moderate sweetness. A clean finish." James Suckling

"The 2007 Vin Santo del Chianti Classico (375-milliliters) is a gorgeous wine with so many descriptors that apply to the ever-evolving and complex bouquet. This golden dessert wine offers distinct aromas of dried apricot, honey and saffron. But give it a few moments and earthy or autumnal tones of wild mushroom, forest floor and aged cheese also rise to the top. The effect is almost savory and definitely very sophisticated. The wine glides smoothly over the palate with creamy richness and viscous smoothness." Robert Parker

"Fèlsina's 2007 Vin Santo del Chianti Classico is terrific. Silky, expressive and gracious, the 2007 is all class. Orange zest, mint, cinnamon and dried flowers grace the palate. The aromatics are especially pretty in this midweight, lifted Vin Santo." Antonio Galloni

    • "Rancia" Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2016

“Rancia” Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2016

Powerful and energetic, expressive and dense is the Rancia Riserva from the same named vineyard. The scent is characterized by a deliciously ripe and full-bodied fruit as well as mineral notes. The taste is earthy, rich in tannins and terroir, beautifully articulated, fine and with an enjoyable length. A wine that requires empathy and/or a few years of rest. SUPERIORE.DE

"Sparkling, medium-density ruby garnet. Fine nose with notes of fresh cherries, raspberries and pomegranate. A lot of juicy fruit in the base and course, opens with fine-meshed, at the same time very dense tannin, which carries the wine, in the aftertaste fine earthy notes, a classic! Falstaff

"Lustrous mid ruby. Hints of cherry fruit and cumin on the nose. Succulent cherry fruit and raspberry coulis with crunchy tannins on the palate. Lovely length and bite." Jancis Robinson

"This features ripe, juicy black cherry and black currant fruit, with licorice, earth and tobacco flavors. Firm tannins frame the elements, imparting structure and complexity for the long haul. Terrific texture." Wine Spectator

"A decadent Chianti Classico Riserva that shows plenty of cedar, spices, leather, wet earth and tobacco, but also really fresh undertones of dried orange rind and strawberries. Integrated and structured on the palate with a velvety mouthfeel and mouth-refreshing acidity." James Suckling

"The 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia knocks it out of the park. Like the other new releases from Fèlsina, this pure expression of Sangiovese needs more time to evolve and improve with bottle age. But even at this young stage, you are made fully aware of the beautiful intensity and complexity of the quality fruit at its core. There is so much energy and tension here, further reinforced by the fresh acidity of the vintage. There are vibrant tones of wild cherry, raspberry and spice, followed up by white truffle and tilled earth." Robert Parker

"The south-facing Rancia vineyard reaches altitudes of 420 metres, overlooking the lower-lying vineyards of Colli Senesi. It boasts complex soils of calcareous clay layered with the chalky white limestone-like alberese and schistose galestro. This 2016 vintage is simply stunning. It's stately yet gracious, with personality for days, leading with a sumptuous nose of smoke, exotic spice and iron-rich earth. Ripe fruit coats the mouth yet it remains buoyant and tangy as chalky tannins charge in to frame the palate. A seductive wine with an appetising, savoury edge and a long, long life ahead." Decanter

"The 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia is powerful, rich and explosive, with tremendous drive. Even so, several bottles have been quite closed. That is probably a very good sign for the long-term, but readers should not plan on touching a bottle anytime soon. A wine of vertical drive and aromatic nuance, the 2016 Rancia is super-complexed. Only with a few hours of air does it show the nuances and layers that were so evident from barrel." VINOUS

    Felsina

The great boom of the Fattoria di Fèlsina began in 1966, when the great shipowner Domenico Poggiali from Ravenna acquired the beautiful property in Castelnuovo Berardenga in the Chianti Classico area. The new owner immediately began to study the vineyards on the 400 hectares of the estate. He also built underground cellars that withstood high temperature fluctuations. Poggiali's son-in-law Giuseppe Mazzocolin made the really big breakthrough. The most important innovations were the reduction of the grape yields in the vineyard, new education systems, a later harvest - connected with a higher maturity of the grapes - were the most important innovations.

In 1983, the Fattoria di Fèlsina decided to produce wines as close to nature as possible. Mazzocolin is still today more important than the amount of the harvest yield for a high biodiversity in the vineyards in order to protect the cultivated areas from pests. The landowner also implemented suggestions of the oenologist Franco Bernabei. He had advised to select the best, healthiest and hardest Sangiovese vines in the eleven vineyards of Fèlsina and to use them for a targeted field selection. This example is proof that the close link between the grape variety and the terroir is a very important component of Fèlsina's wines.

At least in the Chianti Classico area, Mazzocolin refuses to mix Sangiovese with international varieties. The winery achieved world fame with the pure Crus Vigneto Rancia and the Supertoskaner Fontalloro, both of which premiered in 1983. Fèlsina's products are harmoniously linked in a network of terroir, history and cultural references. They are produced with a great deal of expertise and prudence. The Fattoria di Fèlsina is therefore recognised as one of the ten most successful wine producers in Italy in the eternal list of the Gambero Rossobest. SUPERIORE.DE

"Fèlsina belongs to the cult labels of Tuscany. The pure wines, on the other hand, which want to know little about modern, short-lived fashions, shine with elegance and personality."Gambero Rosso
