“Berardenga” Chianti Colli Senesi DOCG 2020
Balanced Chianti Colli Senesi with abundant sweet cherry and plum aromas matched by spice and tobacco notes. Assertive tannins and a taut acidity make the Berardenga a complex version of the Senesi. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2020 Chianti Colli Senesi is bold, powerful and super-expressive. Cedar, tobacco, leather, dried herbs and perfumed earthy undertones give the 2020 its distinctive aromatic profile. This mid-weight, layered Colli Senesi has a ton to offer. The purity of the fruit comes through nicely, especially with air. It's Colli Senesi, and yet the creaminess of the finish is a tell-tale sign of a high-quality year." Vinous
"A seductive nose of plums, wild raspberries, fresh cherries, sage, pine cones, white pepper and musk. Medium-bodied with finely knit tannins. Creamy and soft finish." James Suckling

"Notes of waxed lemons and baked apples with toffee, almonds and praline on the nose. Medium- to full-bodied, creamy and sleek with delicious stone fruit and a polished finish." James Suckling
"Showing a luminous and crystalline shine, the 2021 Chardonnay I Sistri is packed with citrusy flavors that cede to unripe peach, crisp pear and crushed stone. “Berardenga” Chianti Classico DOCG 2021
Sangiovese in pure culture: Bright ruby with a broad garnet rim. Rich in fruity-floral aromas, multi-layered, herbaceous, deep and of good polish with further development potential. A full-bodied and harmonious Chianti-Classico of highly authentic and very inviting style. SUPERIORE.DE
"Brilliant ruby red. Deep cherry with dark spice notes. Concentrated, supple and with plenty of richness. Impressive structure with powdery tannins that have yet to settle." Jancis Robinson
"Animating church, cassis and herbs, shows its pithy side with bite, salty vein and tart charm, is robust and lingers long. The classic from the south of the growing region." Weinwisser
"The Fèlsina 2021 Chianti Classico Berardenga has a spicy or crisp side that I often find in Sangiovese. There is a lot of fruit brightness here with cassis, red cherries, minerals, dried tobacco and grilled rosemary. This is an easy-drinking Tuscan red with a natural acidity and brightness that goes well with a classic lasagne or aubergine parmigiana." Wine Advocate
"The 2021 starts with smoky nuances, earth and subtle oak, then moves into fragrant mint and thyme. It is concentrated and ripe, but balanced by freshness and liveliness. The underlying firmness gradually dissipates to reveal a spicy dried tomato finish." Decanter
"The Chianti Classico Berardenga 2021 is boisterous and expressive right out of the glass. Dark fruits, earthy notes, leather, spices and tobacco convey tons of Castelnuovo Berardenga character. The wine gets better and better in the glass. It is a super-classic example of the house style and a wine to buy by the case. The Berardenga bottling can be a little wild, but in 2021 it has an added touch of sophistication that is undeniable." Vinous
"A firm and silky red wine with aromas and flavours of cherries, dried flowers and orange peel. It is medium-bodied with fine tannins and a fresh and concentrated finish. It still needs some time to mellow, but I already enjoy its energy." James Suckling

The dry palate reveals juicy wild strawberries, orange zest and pastry peel as well as an extremely refined perlage. The fresh acidity provides a lively and vibrant note." Wine Enthusiast
"The Fèlsina NV Metodo Classico Brut Rosé reveals a pale pink color with shiny highlights of gold and peach. This is a sharp, mineral-driven wine that feels linear and tight. Its crisp acidity is reinforced by crunchy apple, orchard fruit and a drop of sweet raspberry syrup. The beading is tight and firm." Wine Advocate

“Berardenga” Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2019
Penetrating and wonderfully clear in colour, the Chianti Classico Riserva unfolds its inviting aroma reminiscent of ripe cherries with notes of spices and wild herbs. Dense and extremely juicy on the palate, it is packed with tannins and full of personality and authenticity. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2019 Chianti Classico Riserva is a dark, brooding wine. The darker side of Sangiovese comes through in a potent, strapping Riserva. Black cherry, incense, tobacco, smoke, game and dried herbs give the Riserva its bold personality, as do the burly tannins that wrap it all together. Today, the 2019 is a bit rustic, but certainly full of character." Vinous
"The Fèlsina 2019 Chianti Classico Riserva Berardenga shows bright fruits and pebbles. This wine is dense and compact with mint, balsamic herbs, black fruits, tobacco, liquorice and tea leaves. The result is medium-bodied and fresh." Wine Advocate
"This has a perfumed nose of wild cherries, strawberries, sandalwood, peppercorns, cloves, rosemary and truffles. Elegant and refined, with firm, fine tannins. Long and deliciously wild, with savory spice notes." James Suckling

Metodo Classico Blanc de Noirs VSQ brut
The new addition to Felsina's range of sparkling wines made according to the traditional Champagne method is a rich and elegant cuvée of 60% Sangiovese and 40% Pinot Noir, matured on the lees for 48 months. In the glass, intense straw yellow with golden reflections, the perlage is fine and persistent. On the nose rich notes of citrus and red fruits and in the background subtle notes of sweet spices and melted butter. On the palate, creamy, balanced and with an impressive balance between freshness and depth. Refined and long on the finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Here's a new discovery from Fèlsina and a sign that the estate is expanding its ambitious sparkling wine program. The Metodo Classico Brut Blanc de Noir opens to a slightly pink color over a crystalline and bright appearance. To the nose, the wine offers pink grapefruit, peach, minty apple and lots of tart, citric freshness. To the palate, it shows plenty of tonic energy and freshness over medium firmness." Wine Advocate

Vin Santo del Chianti Classico DOC 2015
Strong golden colour, beguiling notes of orange, peach, date, apricot and ripe pineapple on the nose. On the palate, a light almond tone with clear grape character and elegant fat sweetness. For all its opulence, also good freshness, salty, long aftertaste of nougat. An ideal dessert and meditation wine for special occasions. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Fèlsina 2015 Vin Santo del Chianti Classico shows a dark amber colour with shiny golden reflections. The wine is soft and creamy in texture, but not too thick. It glides smoothly over the palate, exuding aromas of candied fruit, honey, almonds and marron glacé. This sun-drenched vintage makes one of Italy's most renowned dessert wines more accessible to us." Wine Advocate
"Aromas of dried apricot and whole grain biscuits supported by some subtle butterscotch undertones. A creamy texture runs through the palate, with crisp acidity that balances out the sweetness." James Suckling
"The Vin Santo del Chianti Classico 2015 is a wine of great class. Aromas of orange peel, hazelnuts, dried flowers, chamomile and lightly burnt sugar adorn this exquisite Vin Santo from Fèlsina. It is one of the most refined Vin Santos the harvestwill encounter and a true archetype." Vinous
"An exquisite Vin Santo, with aromas and flavours of brown butter, caramel, molasses, gingerbread and toasted walnut accompanying the lively structure. Impeccably balanced, with fine complexity and a long, resonant aftertaste." Wine Spectator

“Nero di Nubi” Pinot Nero Toscana IGT 2015
Nero di Nubi is a brilliant, unspoilt expression of this delicate Burgundy grape variety with great strength and a typical Tuscan attitude. You can taste the warmth and exuberance of the lush 2015 vintage, but this additional richness and strength never exceeds the natural limits set by this variety from the outset. In the bouquet forest berries and candied cherry with orange peel and violet. To finish, a little powdered earth with dried Mediterranean herbs. Fabulous! SUPERIORE.DE

“Maestro Raro” Cabernet Sauvignon Toscana IGT 2017
Maestro Raro first shines with its vivid colour and then impresses with a bouquet that reveals a wonderful blackberry scent with spices, leather and tobacco aromas. The concentrated taste is soft and smooth, with a stable acidity that cooperates perfectly with the tannin structure. SUPERIORE.DE
"A big, rich cabernet with lots of currant, coffee, chocolate and cedar aromas and flavors. It’s full-bodied, very chewy and concentrated. Needs time to soften. Try after 2022." James Suckling
"The Fèlsina 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Maestro Raro is a spicy, generous and intense expression of this beautiful French grape with a wild Tuscan spirit. You can't escape those notes of sage and Mediterranean herb, with Morello cherry, wild plum and blackberry that give this wine a deep sense of territorial identity that transcends its varietal character. I notice that plumpness and softness of the fruit, the succulence too, that is tied to the hot growing conditions of the vintage. The wine is open-knit and ready." Wine Advocate
"A broad-shouldered style, matching blackberry, plum and graphite flavors to a solid structure. This is fresh and pretty well-balanced, with gravelly tannins shoring up the finish. Best from 2022 through 2038." Wine Spectator
"The 2017 Maestro Raro is a powerful, brooding wine. My impression is that as time goes by, the Maestro Raro, which is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, becomes more and more a wine of the estate than a wine of variety, there is plenty of volume and depth in the dark fruit, but Maestro Raro is deeply marked by the wild, animal undertones that run through all of these wines. I would prefer to drink it over the next handful of years." Vinous

“Maestro Raro” Cabernet Sauvignon Toscana IGT 2018
Maestro Raro shines first with its lively colour and then impresses with a bouquet that reveals a wonderful blackberry scent after spices, leather and tobacco aromas. The concentrated taste spreads softly, in which a stable acid structure cooperates perfectly with the tannin structure. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark ruby red with violet. In the nose noble spicy note, after cassis and elderberries, carried by cloves and a hint of red pepper. Spicy on the palate with a slight peppery-animal note, very warm, has tension throughout and comes back juicy on the final." Falstaff
"The currant character is supercharged with wood and bark highlights. It’s full-bodied with lots of blackberry and blackcurrant undertones. Chewy and firm. Needs time to open." James Suckling
"The 2018 Maestro Raro is dense, powerful and rich. As always, Maestro Raro is a decidedly Tuscan Cabernet Sauvignon. Black fruit, leather, spice and smoke are front and center. This burly Cabernet is a bit angular, but it certainly has plenty of character." Vinous
"This is an exacting and powerful expression of Cabernet Sauvignon from the heart of Tuscany. The Fèlsina 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Maestro Raro always stands out in a crowd, and it definitely stands apart in this portfolio. The wine is sultry and rich in personality, sporting tightly wrapped tannins that will need time to soften and unwind. At its core, the wine shows concentrated black fruit flavors, but there are hints of spice, baker's chocolate and smoky tobacco that add to the complexity and the aromatic lift of the bouquet." “I Sistri” Chardonnay Toscana IGT 2019 · MAGNUM in OWC
Straw yellow, banana and white flower-scented Chardonnay with a fresh, savoury flavour, crisp fruitiness and beautiful length. One of the great white wines of Tuscany! SUPERIORE.DE
"Apricots, lemon pie, chalk, salted almonds and spices on the nose. It's full-bodied with bright acidity and a spiced, salty character. Rich, oily and toasty finish with excellent length." James Suckling
"As it turned out, I tasted this wine while working on my Alto Adige report that was focused on crisp white wines from the Italian Dolomites. Maybe that's why the profoundly Tuscan character of the Fèlsina 2019 Chardonnay I Sistri struck me with so much intensity. There is a softness here and a shiny golden sunlit color that underline the gentle warmness and mild temperatures of central Italy. Tropical aromas with poached pear and orchard fruit are framed by salty mineral definition. The wine is seamless in texture, wrapping smoothly over the palate." Wine Advocate

“Rancia” Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2020
Sparkling, medium-dense ruby garnet. The Rancia Riserva from the single vineyard of the same name is powerful and energetic, expressive and dense. The bouquet is characterised by ripe and full-bodied fruit as well as mineral notes. The taste is earthy, rich in tannins and marked by the terroir, beautifully articulated, fine and with an enjoyable length. A wine that requires sensitivity and/or a few years of rest. SUPERIORE.DE
"Brilliant medium ruby red. Seductive, lifted nose of raspberries with oak notes and mineral, stony notes. Almost a little exotic. Juicy raspberry fruit with lots of gravelly tannins. Elegant and long. Undeniably attractive now." Jancis Robinson
"Intense, with complex aromas of cherries, blackberries, violets, minerals and leafy undergrowth, this red wine is silky and almost racy. Harmonious and persistent, with a long, resonant aftertaste reflecting red fruits, mineral and spicy elements." Wine Spectator
"A sophisticated and very refined Rancia with sweet berries, cedar and hints of chocolate. Medium body. Fresh and concentrated. A little reserved on the finish. It needs two or three years to develop." James Suckling
"The Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia 2020 shows a beautiful minerality with dusty notes of crushed limestone or flint. This is the wine's particular signature, which comes out especially well in a warm vintage like this. The Rancia also offers a forward quality with red and purple fruit tones. The 2020 vintage shows lovely concentration and richness with wild cherry and plum, but ultimately the wine leaves an elegant mineral finish. The Rancia will need additional bottle ageing." "Beautiful aromas of currants and fresh herbs with some green coffee bean. Medium to full body with firm, chewy tannins and a flavourful finish. Needs time to mellow and come together." James Suckling
"The 2019 Maestro Raro is impressive. Dark, layered and striking in its completeness, the Maestro Raro is endowed with tremendous depth and sheer resonance. Black cherry, plum, menthol, liquorice, spice and grilled herbs give the 2019 considerable depth." Vinous
"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Maestro Raro is a lovely expression with deep layers of dark fruit and savory spice that are woven tightly together to form a solid core of primary and secondary flavors. This vintage is especially tight and concentrated, showing terrific balance and freshness and impeccable fruit ripeness that is generous and full. There are no green elements in this vintage. The Fontalloro is a pure Sangiovese aged for up to 20 months in new and two-year-old barriques. Brilliant ruby with a light garnet edge, mineral, woody-fruity aroma of cherry, cedar, blueberry and hazelnut. With air intake, the aromas become more complex and the terroir influence very clear. Compact and very present on the palate with fine-grained tannin and classic proportions. Very high ageing potential and every year one of the highest class Sangiovese of central Tuscany. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2020 Fontalloro is a sensual, enveloping wine. Dark red-toned fruit, sweet spice, tobacco, cedar and mint are all beautifully delineated. Fontalloro is a pure Sangiovese from vineyards that straddle the Chianti Classico and Colli Senesi appellations. The duality is very much on display here." Vinous
"Very refined and complex nose with a hint of pine cones, botanicals and dark mushrooms to the zesty oranges, mineral, fine musk and plums. Juicy, dry but textured on the palate with stacks of dusty tannins growing on the savory, full-bodied palate. Long and quite mineral in the finish. Better from 2025." James Suckling
"A vibrant red, with fleeting aromas of lavender and wild rosemary mingling with cherry, orange peel, earth, mineral and tobacco flavors. On the elegant side, despite its youthful power, with excellent harmony, refined tannins and a long, complex aftertaste." Wine Spectator
"Made with a special selection of Sangiovese, the 2020 Fontalloro is generous and rich, and the wine sports medium-dark color and concentration. The winemaking team has succeeded in bringing out an especially elegant side to this vintage. The wine offers pronounced notes of cherry and wild plum with delicate spice at the back. Like the other wines in this portfolio, there is a pretty mineral note that makes for a consistent through-line in all these new releases." Wine Advocate
"100% Sangiovese from two vocated plots between Chianti Classico and Chianti Colli Senesi. A wine that shows on the nose hints of black cherry, rhubarb, touches of juniper, with notes of eucalyptus and wild mint. The sip is taut, with savoury tannins. The finish is deep, the aftertaste fruity-balsamic." Luca Gardini

“Colonia” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2018
When you hear the story of the effort that went into the Colonia vineyard, you have to wonder if the fine people of Fèlsina are absolutely crazy. It took them two years to remove the imposing rock that had forced previous generations of the Poggiali family to virtually abandon this noble site. But it is thanks to the ambitious Giovanni Poggiali that this spectacular vineyard (Vigneto Colonia) became what it is today. It has reddish-brown soils, is rich in magnesium and iron, and is thus quite different from all other Fèlsina sites.
Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Colonia is a wine of enormous beauty and depth. Dark ruby in the glass, it smells expressively mineral and pure, with aromas of dark cherry and blackcurrant. Mineral and graphite aromas and the simply terrific focus on the Sangiovese grape make it an incomparable masterpiece. On the palate, it is extremely well-balanced and elegant with optimally integrated wood - it is immediately clear that another top wine of the house has been created that is more than a match for the Fontalloro. Fortunately for those who can taste it, there are only 3,000 bottles per vintage. SUPERIORE.DE
"Superb bouquet with notes of raspberries, rose hips, also sandalwood; juicy on the palate, with powdery tannin, perfectly integrated acidity, shows depth and style into the jam finish. Great wine that can age for some more time." Vinum
"Sparkling, rich ruby red. Very intense and clearly marked nose, full of wild raspberries and blackberries, behind it cardamom, exciting. Substantial and dense in attack and course, opens up in lots of pithy tannin, rich, dark berry fruit, in the final emphatically earthy notes, after red beet and cocoa." Falstaff
"Lustrous ruby with orange tinges. Gorgeous nose of sour cherry and blackberry with blood-orange hints and notes of new oak all perfectly tied together. Focused and a little vibrant on the palate, elegant and succulent with long, coating tannins. Transparent finish." Jancis Robinson
"Sweet berries and dried flowers on the nose with sage and lavender. Medium-to full-bodied with chewy tannins, yet these are polished and intense. Very structured and solid. Needs cellar time. Try after 2023." James Suckling
"I prefer this wine to Fèlsina's top-shelf Fontalloro. The 2018 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Colonia is irresistibly angular and tight, opening a profound view onto what makes Sangiovese so expressive and unique, especially when planted in the right territories. The bouquet is savory and almost sanguine with iron ore, rusty nail and baked clay. But there's plenty of fruit as well, in the form of wild berry and black cherry, that adds to the dimension and dynamic freshness of the mouthfeel. Give this wine time to soften in the bottle." Wine Advocate
"The 2018 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Colonia is fascinating to taste next to the Rancia, as the two parcels are adjacent. Rich and substantial in the glass, Colonia is textured and ample, qualities that become increasingly apparent over time. Rugged, rocky terrain seems to amplify power, explosive verticality and acidity." Vinous

Fontalloro and Rancia are wine icons of Tuscany. The Gambero Rosso counts Fèlsina among the ten most successful Italian wineries. You can hardly achieve much more in the Italian wine scene.
It was 1966 when the major shipowner Domenico Poggiali from Ravenna purchased the abandoned estate in Castelnuovo Berardenga in the southernmost corner of the Chianti Classico region. At that time the Fattoria di Fèlsina did not even have 10 hectares of land. The few vines were only used to supply the farmsteads of the village with wine. However, the new owner recognized the quality of the hilly land, which was located from the foothills of the Chianti Classico area near Siena to the eastern flanks of the Ombrone valley not far from Montalcino in the Colli Senesi (Sienese Hills). Gradually he acquired about 500 hectares of land, of which today about 95 hectares are cultivated with wine. The rest are olive groves, agricultural land and woods.
At the beginning of the 1970s Poggiali also built underground cellars to withstand the high temperature fluctuations. Together with his son Giuseppe he built the winery from scratch. In times when Italian viticulture and especially Chianti was going through its most difficult phase, this was more than brave. The whole family helped of course, including the daughter Gloria, who had married the professor of literature Giovanni Mazzocolin. And because he earned so little as a professor, he too was to work in the winery. Actually in sales. But the art-loving professor was more concerned with the quality of the wines. He met Franco Bernabei, an oenologist from the Veneto region who had studied in Conegliano, and implemented his suggestions. Reduction of yields, new education systems, later harvesting, riper grapes, more modern cellar technology - and a selection of different Sangiovese clones.
While half of Italy relied on Cabernet & Co, Fèlsina produced pure Sangiovese wines, Fontalloro and Rancia had their premiere in 1983 and were to make the Fattoria di Fèlsina world-famous. It was also decided in 1983 to produce wines as close to nature as possible in the future. More important to Mazzocolin than the level of the harvest yields was a high biodiversity in the vineyards in order to protect the cultivated areas from pests to a large extent.
Today the grandson of the founder, Giovanni Poggiali, manages the now newly built cellar and vineyards, but always remains true to the successful style. SUPERIORE.DE
"Fèlsina belongs to the cult labels of Tuscany. The pure wines, on the other hand, which want to know little about modern, short-lived fashions, shine with elegance and personality."Gambero Rosso
