      “Berardenga” Chianti Classico DOCG 2017

Sangiovese in pure culture: Medium ruby, rich in fruity floral aromas, multi-layered, deep and of good polish with further development potential. A full-bodied and harmonious Chianti Classico with a highly authentic style. SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright, rich ruby. In the nose of elderberries and black currants, underlaid with noble herb spice notes. In the drink balanced and clear, a juicy dress stretches out, tender melt with a salty finish." Falstaff

"Mid ruby. Inviting cherry and iron nose with a hint of liquorice. Supple cherry palate with plenty of coating tannins. Succulent and suave." Jancis Robinson

"The 2017 Chianti Classico Berardenga is an absolutely gorgeous wine. Racy, powerful and sumptuous in the glass, the 2017 offers terrific depth and textural resonance. Sweet black cherry, plum, mocha, licorice and spice bring out the darker side of Sangiovese. Bold and racy, the 2017 will drink beautifully right out of the gate." Vinous

"The 2017 Chianti Classico Berardenga is a fine and precise wine that shows some of the warmth, good cheer and exuberance of the vintage, but that ultimately proves to be better contained and more carefully etched than I would have anticipated. The bouquet starts off with black fruit and light shadings of spice, but the best part is in those mineral aromas of flint and slate. Serve it with stuffed red peppers." Robert Parker

"Rich, with black cherry, plum, iron and violet aromas and flavors, this red is suave and multidimensional. Vibrant and balanced, featuring a lingering finish that echoes the fruit and adds a spice accent." Wine Spectator

"A very fresh 2017 with plenty of tight and linear tannins that give the wine energy and drive. Medium to full body. Racy finish. This is impressive. Fantastic texture and complexity on the palate with purple fruit and wet earth." James Suckling

“I Sistri” Chardonnay Toscana IGT 2017

Straw yellow Chardonnay with banana and white flower scent, fresh, hearty taste, crunchy fruit fullness and beautiful length. One of the great white wines of Tuscany! SUPERIORE.DE

"The Fèlsina 2017 Chardonnay I Sistri is a medium-bodied white wine with equal parts exotic fruit, toast and spice. The oak-driven notes here resemble pastry crust and sweet custard cream. This is a very well-executed and finely crafted wine with balanced thickness, acidity and fruitiness that ultimately find harmony in the glass. Serve it with some Florentine gnudi: spinach and ricotta balls." Robert Parker

"Always a beautiful white and this shows lemon curd, vanilla, fresh apricots, peach pit, vanilla and a touch of butterscotch. I love the oiliness to the texture here, which interacts beautifully with the underlying freshness and taut acidity. Full-bodied, but very finely tuned." James Suckling

    • "Berardenga" Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2016

“Berardenga” Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2016

Unsurpassably good in the 2016 dream year: the Chianti Classico Riserva unfolds its inviting, ripe cherry-like scent with notes of spices in a vivid and wonderfully clear colour. Dense and extremely juicy on the palate, with a good tannin pack, full of personality and authenticity. SUPERIORE.DE

"This is a very cedary Chianti Classico, the wood showing prominently, but also showing beautiful dried rose petals and orange rind. Full-bodied with structured tannins and a chewy finish." James Suckling

"The 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva shows all the quality and pedigree of the year in its layered personality and overall nuance. Cedar, dried cherry, game licorice and tobacco convey the darker, gamier side of Sangiovese that is such a signature at Fèlsina. The 2016 finishes with terrific energy and bright acids that suggest it will enjoy a long life in the cellar, but readers should plan on giving it at least a few years in bottle." Vinous

"This red offers density and focus, creating an ideal frame for the cherry, strawberry, almond, leather and earth flavors. A firm backbone of tannins lends structure and the finish persists, leaving an accent of bitter almond." Wine Spectator

"Streamlined and elegant, this mid-weight red trots out notes of grilled herb and dark fruit nuances that segue to spice, tilled earth and savory tobacco, with great complexity. This 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva Berardenga is still a bit closed and tight, but this beautiful wine boasts all the best qualities of this vintage. It shows elegance and power, two contrasting characteristics that only work well together in the world's most achieved expressions. The most satisfying aspect of this Riserva is the crisp acidity on the close that keeps the palate refreshed and ready for the next sip." Robert Parker

The Spumante Edition Millesimato 2012 - carefully matured in the Metodo Classico process - is juicy, floral and creamy and shows a nice acidity. It's a stuff dreams are made of. SUPERIORE.DE

"Fèlsina's 2012 Millesimato Metodo Classico Brut shows tight and tonic lines with a generous personality. Peach and stone fruit aromas are found at its core and the wine also offers delicate mineral tones and a pretty touch of baked bread. This was a warm vintage, and you get extra padding or textural definition as a result. The finish is silky, and both these sparkling wines from Fèlsina offer delicate perlage that is not too spicy or sharp." Robert Parker

    • "Rancia" Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2016

“Rancia” Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2016

Powerful and energetic, expressive and dense is the Rancia Riserva from the same named vineyard. The scent is characterized by a deliciously ripe and full-bodied fruit as well as mineral notes. The taste is earthy, rich in tannins and terroir, beautifully articulated, fine and with an enjoyable length. A wine that requires empathy and/or a few years of rest. SUPERIORE.DE

"Sparkling, medium-density ruby garnet. Fine nose with notes of fresh cherries, raspberries and pomegranate. A lot of juicy fruit in the base and course, opens with fine-meshed, at the same time very dense tannin, which carries the wine, in the aftertaste fine earthy notes, a classic! Falstaff

"Lustrous mid ruby. Hints of cherry fruit and cumin on the nose. Succulent cherry fruit and raspberry coulis with crunchy tannins on the palate. Lovely length and bite." Jancis Robinson

"This features ripe, juicy black cherry and black currant fruit, with licorice, earth and tobacco flavors. Firm tannins frame the elements, imparting structure and complexity for the long haul. Terrific texture." Wine Spectator

"A decadent Chianti Classico Riserva that shows plenty of cedar, spices, leather, wet earth and tobacco, but also really fresh undertones of dried orange rind and strawberries. Integrated and structured on the palate with a velvety mouthfeel and mouth-refreshing acidity." James Suckling

"The 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia knocks it out of the park. Like the other new releases from Fèlsina, this pure expression of Sangiovese needs more time to evolve and improve with bottle age. But even at this young stage, you are made fully aware of the beautiful intensity and complexity of the quality fruit at its core. There is so much energy and tension here, further reinforced by the fresh acidity of the vintage. There are vibrant tones of wild cherry, raspberry and spice, followed up by white truffle and tilled earth." Robert Parker

"The south-facing Rancia vineyard reaches altitudes of 420 metres, overlooking the lower-lying vineyards of Colli Senesi. It boasts complex soils of calcareous clay layered with the chalky white limestone-like alberese and schistose galestro. This 2016 vintage is simply stunning. It's stately yet gracious, with personality for days, leading with a sumptuous nose of smoke, exotic spice and iron-rich earth. Ripe fruit coats the mouth yet it remains buoyant and tangy as chalky tannins charge in to frame the palate. A seductive wine with an appetising, savoury edge and a long, long life ahead." Decanter

"The 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia is powerful, rich and explosive, with tremendous drive. Even so, several bottles have been quite closed. That is probably a very good sign for the long-term, but readers should not plan on touching a bottle anytime soon. A wine of vertical drive and aromatic nuance, the 2016 Rancia is super-complexed. Only with a few hours of air does it show the nuances and layers that were so evident from barrel." VINOUS

“Colonia” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2013

Felsinas Chianti Classico Gran Selezione from Vigneto Colonia is a project of the Poggiali family that has lasted for three generations. The vineyard has reddish-brown soils, rich in magnesium and iron on boulders of limestone and limestone marl, quite different from all the other sites of Fèlsina. The wine is impressive dark ruby, smells expressive mineral and pure, with aromas of dark cherry and black currant. Pure elegance, refinement and harmony in just 3,000 numbered bottles for true Sangiovese lovers! SUPERIORE.DE

"Complex aromas of raspberries, blueberries, red plums and hot stones. Some new wood, too. Medium to full body, ripe and velvety tannins and a long very crisp finish. I like the intensity and the style here." James Suckling

"This wine opens to rich intensity and a dark purple-blackish color that is simply gorgeous to behold. The 2013 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Colonia is a superb expression that delivers so much joy on almost every measurable level. This vintage offers superb density and intensity with sharply defined aromas of black cherry, ripe blackberry, spice, leather and moist tobacco. There is a sweet note on the close that lasts for a minute or two before returning your taste buds to sophisticated and savory flavors. This is a gorgeous, gorgeous achievement." Robert Parker

"Volume, power and breadth are the signatures of the 2013 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Colonia. This is the first vintage in which Colonia falls in line with the rest of the Fèlsina range from a stylistic standpoint. Among other things, the use of French oak is much more measured than it was in Colonia's first vintages. Next to the flagship Rancia, Colonia is a sleeker, and perhaps a bit more polished, although it doesn't quite offer the same direct expression of Sangiovese." Antonio Galloni

"The Colonia vineyard boasts a very rocky galestro soil rich in magnesium and iron. Though planted in 1993, it wasn't made as a separate bottling until 2006, and less than 3,000 bottles are produced. It's aged mostly in used barriques , and the 2013 is a heady tangle of underbrush, incense, ripe cherry, mint and fragrant fennel. It's very polished but true to its origins; dense, savoury and mineral with layers of tactile, powdery tannins that will carry the wine for a couple of decades." Decanter

“Colonia” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2015

Felsinas Chianti Classico Gran Selezione from Vigneto Colonia is a project of the Poggiali family that has lasted for three generations. The vineyard has reddish-brown soils, rich in magnesium and iron on boulders of limestone and limestone marl, quite different from all the other sites of Fèlsina. The wine is impressive dark ruby, smells expressive mineral and pure, with aromas of dark cherry and black currant. Pure elegance, refinement and harmony in just 3,000 numbered bottles for true Sangiovese lovers! SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright, medium-density ruby garnet. First shows slightly earthy notes, then a lot of ripe cherry and blackberry, some cinnamon, very exciting. Full and dense in the attack and course, shows a lot of dense, pithy tannin, forms the strong backbone of the wine, in the finale after tobacco, long finish, salty." Falstaff

"Surrounded by forest, Colonia is the highest part of the 9ha Poggio a Rancia vineyard, on very rocky soil rich in minerals. It typically gives the fullest, most structured expression of Sangiovese at Fèlsina. In the 2015, the aromas are complex and appealing yet already demonstrating some evolution. Black tea, tobacco, dried mint and leather scents recur on the palate. While there are ample tannins, they are relaxed and approachable. You don't need to wait for this, nor does it suggest long-term cellaring, but it will be absolutely delicious over the next 10-12 years." Decanter

"This is really a unique Chianti Classico that wouldn’t be out of place among a flight of nebbiolo! Pure aromas of strawberries, raspberries and blueberries with hints of sweet hazelnuts, cigar box, tea leaves and dried leaves. On the full-bodied palate, the perfectly ripe and silky tannins are juxtaposed with really crisp and exciting acidity. A crunchy yet chewy finish. What a wine. Delicious now, but it can age for a long time." James Suckling

"The 2015 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Colonia is the richest and most overt of Fèlsina's three top Sangioveses (the other two being Rancia and Fontalloro). Dark and explosive in the glass, the 2015 Colonia possesses layers of super-ripe dense fruit to match its decidedly virile, muscular personality. As always, Colonia has a stronger French oak imprint than the other wines in the range, but the oak is better balanced today than it was in the first few years. The 2015 is an impressive Colonia." Antonio Galloni

"This is quickly rising to the top of the list of the most collectible wines made in the Chianti Classico appellation. The 2015 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Colonia is a spectacular achievement with a super dense and dark core that recalls this rocky growing site with little top soil. The rock was blasted out with dynamite to make room for the vines that power this beautiful wine today. This is a gutsy and muscular expression that benefits quite specifically from warm and sunny vintages such as this. This wine needs a little extra sunshine to loosen and soften up the very tight texture that comes so naturally. You definitely feel the youth of the tannins here, and I suggest giving this wine a lot of lead time to allow for a slow and graceful evolution." Robert Parker

"Notes of dried berries, cedar, meat and truffles with some mushrooms. Full body. Chewy and very rich. A lot of wood now, but shows wonderful intensity and power. Give it two or three years to soften." James Suckling

"The 2016 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Colonia possesses off the charts richness and intensity in a bold, racy style that captures all the best this site has to offer. Striking inner perfume, bright red Sangiovese fruit and soft contours add to the wine's compelling balance. Much more open today than Rancia, Colonia is positively stunning in 2016. In fact, it is the finest Colonia yet." Vinous

“Colonia” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2016 · 6 Bottles in OWC

Felsinas Chianti Classico Gran Selezione from Vigneto Colonia is a project of the Poggiali family that has lasted for three generations. The vineyard has reddish-brown soils, rich in magnesium and iron on boulders of limestone and limestone marl, quite different from all the other sites of Fèlsina. The wine is impressive dark ruby, smells expressive mineral and pure, with aromas of dark cherry and black currant. Pure elegance, refinement and harmony in just 3,000 numbered bottles for true Sangiovese lovers! SUPERIORE.DE

    Felsina

The great boom of the Fattoria di Fèlsina began in 1966, when the great shipowner Domenico Poggiali from Ravenna acquired the beautiful property in Castelnuovo Berardenga in the Chianti Classico area. The new owner immediately began to study the vineyards on the 400 hectares of the estate. He also built underground cellars that withstood high temperature fluctuations. Poggiali's son-in-law Giuseppe Mazzocolin made the really big breakthrough. The most important innovations were the reduction of the grape yields in the vineyard, new education systems, a later harvest - connected with a higher maturity of the grapes - were the most important innovations.

In 1983, the Fattoria di Fèlsina decided to produce wines as close to nature as possible. Mazzocolin is still today more important than the amount of the harvest yield for a high biodiversity in the vineyards in order to protect the cultivated areas from pests. The landowner also implemented suggestions of the oenologist Franco Bernabei. He had advised to select the best, healthiest and hardest Sangiovese vines in the eleven vineyards of Fèlsina and to use them for a targeted field selection. This example is proof that the close link between the grape variety and the terroir is a very important component of Fèlsina's wines.

At least in the Chianti Classico area, Mazzocolin refuses to mix Sangiovese with international varieties. The winery achieved world fame with the pure Crus Vigneto Rancia and the Supertoskaner Fontalloro, both of which premiered in 1983. Fèlsina's products are harmoniously linked in a network of terroir, history and cultural references. They are produced with a great deal of expertise and prudence. The Fattoria di Fèlsina is therefore recognised as one of the ten most successful wine producers in Italy in the eternal list of the Gambero Rossobest. SUPERIORE.DE

"Fèlsina belongs to the cult labels of Tuscany. The pure wines, on the other hand, which want to know little about modern, short-lived fashions, shine with elegance and personality."Gambero Rosso
