      Rosato Toscana IGT 2019 (BIO)

The almost 10,000 bottles of Rosato di Toscana from Rocca di Montegrossi are exemplary and perfect. Clean aromas of cherry and strawberry on the nose, lively, elegant and balanced on the palate, with long-lasting berry and spice notes. SUPERIORE.DE

"Intense, brilliant dark pink. Spicy nose, of white pepper, cherry, plum. On the palate juicy and with a hearty drink, appears balanced, precisely integrated acidity, fine play in the final." Falstaff

"The 2019 Rocca di Montegrossi Rosato is gorgeous, both spicy and floral, with zesty bright cherry and a hint of grapefruit. On the palate, silky, soothing textures usher in ripe red fruits offset by vibrant acids, as hints of sweet spice and salty minerals buzz on the senses. The finish is medium in length and remarkably fresh." Vinous

    • Chianti Classico DOCG 2018 (BIO)

      Chianti Classico DOCG 2018 (BIO)

Lively ruby with bright violet reflections, in the nose rich fruity aromas, typical of wild berries and sour cherries. On the palate fresh, balanced and well structured, with silky tannins and spicy accents. A classic of the appellation. SUPERIORE.DE

"Mid crimson. Savoury and a little reductive at the moment, but this is a cask sample. Gorgeous succulent sweet red fruit and gripping tannins. Very long, juicy and gripping." Jancis Robinson

"Reoccurring rainy periods throughout the growing season made it challenging for organic producer Marco Ricasoli-Firidolfi. He credits the constant winds inherent to the area of Monti in Gaiole-in-Chianti for helping keep the grapes clean and healthy through to harvest. While not immediately charming, Rocca di Montegrossi's annata demonstrates impressive concentration and tannin structure for this vintage. It is very youthful with great energy and freshness on the palate but still fairly tightly wound. I'd give it a few more months in bottle before approaching." Decanter

"A red with blackberries, black cherries and hints of sliced dark mushrooms that follow through to a medium body, chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Some bark, too. Always a serious Chianti Classico." James Suckling

"The 2018 Chianti Classico opens with a burst of sweet red berry fruit, spice and wild flowers. Exuberant and racy, the 2018 is endowed with tremendous energy and tons of personality. Time in the glass brings out the wine's inner sweetness and radiance, with a closing flourish of red flowers. This is a fabulous wine for the money. Don't miss it." Vinous

“Geremia” Rosso Toscano IGT 2014 (BIO)

Smells intensely of currants and black cherries, leather, spices and liquorice. On the palate it is rich and flowing, all the elements merge into a great, distinctive wine. Great potential! SUPERIORE.DE

"Rich, deep dark ruby with a lot of violet. Compact nose with pronounced notes of blackcurrant and ripe blackberries, underpinned by notes of liquorice and soot. In the beginning much dark berry fruit, also liquorice, opens then with much substantial, dense tannin, firm pressure, in the aftertaste earthy notes, in the finale slightly herbaceous." Falstaff

"Walnuts, coffee beans, dark fruit and a bark undertone. Full body, soft and silky tannins and a long and flavorful finish. Lovely, chewy texture." James Suckling

"An intense red, boasting an expressive range of kirsch, raspberry, floral, mineral and spice flavors, nicely offset by a vibrant structure. All the elements come together on the lingering aftertaste. Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon." Wine Spectator

"The 2014 Geremia, Rocca di Montegrossi's Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon blend, is another compelling wine in this range. Today, the Geremia is perhaps a bit austere, but at least some of that is attributable to the personality of the vintage. Time in the glass brings out an attractive range of sage, menthol, licorice and dark red/purplish fruit. I very much like the energy and drive here." Antonio Galloni

“Geremia” Rosso Toscano IGT 2015 (BIO)

Intense fragrance of blackcurrant and black cherry, leather, spices and liquorice. On the palate it is opulent and flowing, all elements merge into a great, distinctive wine. Great potential! SUPERIORE.DE

"Extremely dense, sparkling ruby. Very intense, fleshy nose, a lot of dark currant, some elderberries overlaid with fine notes of cocoa and tobacco. Has great tension, lots of dense tannin, tightly woven, lots of blackberry, blackcurrant, very full-bodied." Falstaff

"Impenetrable, deep ruby. peppery, lifted dark fruit and sour cherry with hints of oak. Beautiful depth that reveals itself only after plenty of aeration in the glass. Elegant, almost racy dark fruit and raspberry palate with finely chiselled tannins. Concentrated and poised at the same time and light years away from the boring Supertuscans of yore. Stunning." Jancis Robinson

"The Geremia, Rocca di Montegrossi's Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon blend, is outrageously beautiful in 2015. Racy and pliant, with soft curves, Geremia captures all of the radiant beauty of the vintage. Sweet red cherry, plum, mint, mocha and sweet spice are all fused together. At the moment, there is a touch of new oak that still needs to integrate, but a few more years in bottle should do the trick. Time in the glass brings out attractive floral notes and red-toned fruit character that lend freshness and lift to play off the wine’s more extroverted leanings. The 2015 is a gorgeous Geremia." Vinous

"A rich, luscious 2015 with crushed blackberries, blackcurrants, black chocolate and some violet and minerals. It’s medium-to full-bodied with very polished, sleek tannins and a long, chewy finish. Polished and focused. Merlot and cabernet sauvignon. Drink after 2022." James Suckling

"The 2016 Geremia is a total knock-out. An exotic mélange of sweet dark cherry, plum, chocolate, licorice, spice and menthol races out of the glass. The 2016 is deep, dense and full of character. It is also easy to drink with minimal cellaring. Chianti Classico “Vigna San Marcellino” Gran Selezione DOCG 2015 (BIO)

Sparkling ruby red. Complex and enveloping bouquet of rich cherry, black forest berries, violet and tobacco. The single vineyard Chianti Classico San Marcellino is superbly structured, interwoven with lively, elegant tannins, of exemplary harmony and a hearty, slightly salty finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"Sparkling ruby with a slight violet tint. Rich nose with notes of ripe blackberries and dark cherries, in the background slightly tarry. Juicy and present at the base and flow, very well integrated tannin, with an appealing sweet enamel, firm pressure." Falstaff

"Deep, lustrous ruby. Complex and pure on the nose with delicately handled oak management having just added a tiny hint of the barriques. Juicy cherry and raspberry fruit with finely grained long tannins. Fantastic focus and length and with lots of juice on the finish. Its elegance belies the 15% this actually has. Still a little closed, so I would cellar this for another two years. There is no great hurry." Jancis Robinson

"A balanced, refined red with plum, cherry and chocolate character, as well as walnut. It’s medium-bodied with juicy fruit and a savory finish. Complex and pretty." James Suckling

"A broad, dense red, with ripe plum, black cherry and blackberry flavors, framed by vibrant acidity and burly tannins. Earth, sanguine and tobacco accents chime in. All the components are proportioned correctly, but this will take some time to integrate fully. Fine length and freshness. Best from 2022." Wine Spectator

"A selection made from the San Marcellino vineyard which includes a plot of 50-year-old vines. The soil here is extremely rocky, composed mainly of alberese - a hard marl rich in calcium carbonate which tends to give deeply coloured wines. There is a lot to love in this wine. Enticing red and black currants are demurely nuanced with toast and spice. Ample and mouth filling without being heavy, the palate is abundantly layered with velvety textured tannins. Purity of fruit is preserved throughout and this finishes with mouth-watering salinity." Decanter

"The 2015 Chianti Classico Vigneto San Marcellino is fabulous. Sweet red cherry, red plum, mint, sweet pipe tobacco, cedar, licorice, blood orange and dried herbs all race out of the glass. The Sangiovese is so expressive. Even so, the 2015 is a wine of reserve. I would cellar it for at least a few years, as it has clearly entered a period of post-bottling closure. Its energy and vibrancy are notable." Vinous

    • Vin Santo del Chianti DOC 2006

Vin Santo del Chianti DOC 2006

Only 2,500 bottles are bottled per vintage: Amber Vin Santo, incredibly full, with notes of almonds, honey and candied oranges; it is pressed from white dried Malvasia grapes and a small part of Canaiolo. With its pleasant sweetness it is a wonderful companion to desserts, foie gras or soft cheese. SUPERIORE.DE

"Sparkling, dark amber with a slightly yellow edge. Shows notes of coffee with milk, pear jam, then lots of dates. Compact and dense on the palate, it looks like a single cast, very harmonious and woven, glides along for a long time." Falstaff

"Aromas and flavors of molasses, Muscat raisin and caramel are the hallmarks of this sweet, unctuous dessert white. The finish is creamy and resonant, showing freshness and harmony." Wine Spectator

"Dark colored amber. So much dried, sweet cherries. Full-bodied and very sweet with syrup, yet fresh and amazing. A unique sweet wine. Drink forever. A joy to taste by the tea spoon." James Suckling

"Rocca di Montegrossi often makes one of the richest Vin Santos in Chianti Classico. The 2006 is a bit less opulent than is often the case, but that just means the Vin Santo is not a blockbuster. Voluptuous and beautifully layered throughout, the 2006 offers an attractive infusion of dried herbs, wild flowers, coconut, mint and leather, all wrapped around a core of dark, deeply spiced fruit." Geremia from Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon smells intensely of currants and black cherries, leather, spices and liquorice. On the palate lush and flowing, all elements merge to a great, distinctive wine. Great potential! SUPERIORE.DE

"A rich ruby with a violet shimmer. Smells of chocolate, then a lot of cassis and blackberry, full-bodied and dense. It shows a lot of sweet and present fruit on the palate, opens with fine-meshed tannin, covered with a lot of sweet fruit, a lot of pressure, long aftertaste". Falstaff

"The 2011 Geremia, the estate's Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot blend, offers tons of energy to balance its dark, inky fruit. Lavender, menthol, melted road tar, sage, crème de cassis and grilled herbs are some of the many signatures. The ripeness and raciness of the year come through in spades, yet there is an element of pulsating intensity in the glass that plays off the more overt elements nicely. This is another superb showing from Rocca di Montegrossi." Antonio Galloni

"The 2012 Geremia is the highlight in this range, and also one of the best wines I tasted during my recent trip through Chianti Classico. Deep, dense and brooding, the 2012 is another wine that will require considerable time to come into focus. Today it possesses exceptional depth, power and intensity, all of which will allow it to age effortlessly for many years. With time in the glass, scents of lavender, sage, menthol and licorice start to open up, but the 2012 needs time. This is an absolutely stellar wine from Rocca di Montegrossi and proprietor Marco Ricasoli-Firidolfi." Antonio Galloni

    • Chianti Classico "Vigna San Marcellino" Gran Selezione DOCG 2014 (BIO) <br>MAGNUM in OWC

Chianti Classico “Vigna San Marcellino” Gran Selezione DOCG 2014 (BIO) · MAGNUM in OWC

Deep ruby red, large, complex and enveloping bouquet of black forest berries, violets and tobacco. The single layer Chianti Classico San Marcellino is excellently structured, interwoven with lively, elegant tannins and of exemplary harmony and length. SUPERIORE.DE

"Sparkling, intense ruby with violet. Dark rich cherry, lots of blackberry, somewhat coarser tannins, but very finely coated, hearty and salty, in the finale saturated pressure." Falstaff

"This has surprising heft and ripeness of fruit for the cool and rainy 2014 vintage. Deeply coloured, it starts with toasted oak and sweet spice then makes way for red plum and pepper. The tannins are a bit chunky but admirably ripe, and this stands up to many of the Gran Seleziones from the more highly-regarded 2015 and 2016 vintages." Decanter

"The 2014 Chianti Classico Vigneto San Marcellino is dark, sumptuous and super-expressive. Like all of the wines here, the 2014 San Marcellino needs at least a few years in bottle to truly show everything it has, but there is more than enough here to provide for engaging drinking for many years to come. Time in the glass brings out gorgeous scents of black cherry, plum, menthol, licorice and smoke. The 2014 is a striking, complete wine." Vinous

    Rocca di Montegrossi

Modernity meets tradition - this could be the motto of the young winery Rocca di Montegrossi, located in the heart of Chianti Classico. In Monti, the highest village in the production area not far from Gaiole, Marco Ricasoli-Firidolfi - a descendant of that noble house that wrote important chapters in Chianti history - has been rigorously and carefully cultivating the local grape varieties Sangiovese, Colorino, Canaiolo, Pugnitello and Malvasia Bianca del Chianti since the early 1980s. The wine cellar, renovated at the turn of the millennium, combines traditional techniques with the best new technologies.

The total area of the estate reaches 100 hectares, of which 20 hectares are dedicated to vineyards and 20 hectares to olive groves with fruit trees. Since Marco relies almost exclusively on the Coreggiolo variety of stone fruit, the house's high-quality edible oil is made from a single variety. The vineyards, all on gentle slopes on limestone hills with a medium-heavy soil and a south-southeast exposure, are situated at an altitude of between 340 and 510 metres above sea level. Sangiovese occupies the largest part of the cultivated area, followed at a great distance by Merlot.

The vines and olive trees of Rocca di Montegrossi are cultivated according to officially certified biological rules. The estate is also ecologically friendly in other respects. For example, rainwater is collected to avoid wasting valuable drinking water. In the wine cellar, part of the heating is solar-powered; electrical energy is obtained exclusively from renewable sources.

The winery houses large oak barrels and barriques, which are used in different ways depending on the type of wine, under the oenological advice of Attilio Pagli. With the Chianti Classico Vigneto San Marcellino and the Bordeaux blend Geremia, the descendant of the famous Tuscan aristocratic house produces two outstanding wines. SUPERIORE.DE

"Marco's trademark is lush, rich wines that never lose sight of balance and finesse." Gambero Rosso
