“Bucerchiale” Chianti Rufina Riserva DOCG 2018
Wonderful, finesse-rich selection of the best grapes of the winery. The nose convinces with richness: red fruits, dark flowers, in addition fine tar and vegetal notes, traces of blackberry jam. On the palate, full-bodied with subtle extract sweetness, punchy and juicy at the same time, the well-proportioned tannins come into play very well and glide this red elegantly into a long final. SUPERIORE.DE
"A very pure and beautiful red with cherry and strawberry. Subtle spice, such as nutmeg and cedar. Orange peel, too. Medium to full body. Firm, silky tannins melt nicely into the wine. Fresh and clean finish. A little tight at the end. A beautiful single-vineyard Chianti Rufina with structure. Drinkable now, but better after 2023, when it will have softened a little." James Suckling

“Fornace” Rosso Toscana IGT 2017
This successful blend of Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon opens with dark concentration and great density. Fornace offers impressive juiciness and rich aromas of red cherries, blackberries, spices and grilled herbs. Its full body, restrained acidity and silky tannins are perfectly balanced, with balsamic hints accompanying this attractive supertuscan into a smooth and long finish. SUPERIORE.DE

The Selvapiana winery has had a very sonorous name for decades. It is a unique way of combining the characteristics of the Chianti Rufina sub-region with the modern achievements of viticulture. The typical Tuscan country estate with manor house and outbuildings is picturesquely situated on the left bank of the Sieve between Pontassieve and Rufina. Besides fine wines, olive oil and cereals are also produced there.
Built as a medieval castle with two fortified towers, the Fattoria Selvapiana was the summer residence of the bishops of Florence for a long time before it passed into the possession of some rich merchant families. In 1827 the estate was acquired by the Giuntini family of Florentines bankers. The deployment of Francesco Giuntini was particularly commendable. With great determination and skill he had earned the worldwide recognition of the Chianti of Selvapiana and Rufina. In 2003, the estate was converted to organic farming and a modern cellar system now allows a more gentle and individual expansion of the plants.
The management of the mixed farm is now in the hands of Federico Giuntini Masseti and his sister Silvia. The elegant wines are produced under the supervision of the renowned ecologist Franco Bernabei. The most important products of the house are the Chianti Rufina Selvapiana and the great Riserva from the Bucerchiale vineyard. Both wines are considered to be very long-lived.
The vineyards of Selvapiana are situated on the slopes of the Sievetal. The soil with its lime-rich skeletal parts, clay and sandstone marl can store heat very well. Sangiovese and Canaiolo form the basis of the cuvées. In total, 240 hectares of agricultural land belong to the Fattoria. superiore.de)
"It is thanks to the family that they have made a brand out of wine. And that for over 50 years." Captain Cork.
