• Chianti Rufina DOCG 2017

      Chianti Rufina DOCG 2017

Medium cherry red. In the nose tobacco, leather and liquorice, on the palate with beautiful cherry aroma, carried by good acid and tannin structure. Excellent Sangiovese interpretation with great value. SUPERIORE.DE

"Again everything from one pour, shows much and hides nothing, already now with first pleasure to drink, charming fruit game, sweet vein and with some density equipped." Weinwisser

"Selvapiana's 2017 Chianti Rùfina is bright, floral and nicely lifted, as it always is, but with a bit more textural richness and body than normal. Plush red fruit and silky contours, the signatures of a warm, dry year, give the Selvapiana's Chianti Rùfina an extra bit of immediacy and near-term appeal. Even in 2017, the Rùfina retains good energy and plenty of verve." Vinous

    • "Villa Petrognano" Rosso Pomino DOC 2015

“Villa Petrognano” Rosso Pomino DOC 2015

The owner of Selvapiana, Francesco Giuntini, and the owner of the Petrognano winery, Cecilia Galeotti Ottieri, have a long friendship. Its small vineyard, situated on the border between Tuscany and Emilia Romagna, is situated in the middle of the Pomino DOC, first documented in 1716 and one of the first four protected appellations in Tuscany (along with Rufina Classico, Carmignano and Valdarno Superiore).

For some years now the two have been linked by the "Villa Petrognano" project, under which Selvapianas, one of the most original and at the same time best Pomino Rosso in the region, is being created under this name. Subtle in fragrance, the taste full-bodied and lively - a cuvée you won't soon forget! SUPERIORE.DE

    • "Bucerchiale" Chianti Rufina Riserva DOCG 2015

“Bucerchiale” Chianti Rufina Riserva DOCG 2015

Intense garnet red. In the nose pomegranate, cherry and blackberry notes with cloves. Complex in taste, earthy and powerful. A gripping tannin accompanies a long finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2015 Chianti Rùfina Riserva Vigento Bucerchiale is powerful, dense and quite structured. Readers will have to be patient with this strapping, tannic Riserva, but there is more than enough stuffing and pedigree to allow the 2015 to develop into a gorgeous wine in a few years' time. Wild cherry, sweet tobacco, mint and dried flowers add layers of nuance on the potent finish." VINOUS

"The Selvapiana 2015 Chianti Rufina Riserva Vigneto Bucerchiale is a generous and exuberant expression of Sangiovese that remains ever-faithful to its traditional and territory-driven roots. This wine speaks with a Tuscan tongue, giving voice to wild berry, earthy truffle and aromas of Mediterranean herb. The finish is softly fruity with subtle structure (which is firm and binding nonetheless) and fresh acidity." Robert Parker

"Combining an irresistible pairing of earthy elegance and ageworthy structure, this fragrant, focused red boasts heady scents of smoke, wild berry, pipe tobacco, sunbaked earth and rose petal. The taut linear palate shows lovely tension, delivering juicy Morello cherry, crushed raspberry, baking spice and licorice framed in youthfully firm but refined tannins. Fresh acidity lends balance and energy." Wine Enthusiast

    About the winemakers
    Fattoria Selvapiana
    Tuscany | Chianti
    Fattoria Selvapiana

The Selvapiana winery has had a very sonorous name for decades. It is a unique way of combining the characteristics of the Chianti Rufina sub-region with the modern achievements of viticulture. The typical Tuscan country estate with manor house and outbuildings is picturesquely situated on the left bank of the Sieve between Pontassieve and Rufina. Besides fine wines, olive oil and cereals are also produced there.

Built as a medieval castle with two fortified towers, the Fattoria Selvapiana was the summer residence of the bishops of Florence for a long time before it passed into the possession of some rich merchant families. In 1827 the estate was acquired by the Giuntini family of Florentines bankers. The deployment of Francesco Giuntini was particularly commendable. With great determination and skill he had earned the worldwide recognition of the Chianti of Selvapiana and Rufina. In 2003, the estate was converted to organic farming and a modern cellar system now allows a more gentle and individual expansion of the plants.

The management of the mixed farm is now in the hands of Federico Giuntini Masseti and his sister Silvia. The elegant wines are produced under the supervision of the renowned ecologist Franco Bernabei. The most important products of the house are the Chianti Rufina Selvapiana and the great Riserva from the Bucerchiale vineyard. Both wines are considered to be very long-lived.

The vineyards of Selvapiana are situated on the slopes of the Sievetal. The soil with its lime-rich skeletal parts, clay and sandstone marl can store heat very well. Sangiovese and Canaiolo form the basis of the cuvées. In total, 240 hectares of agricultural land belong to the Fattoria. superiore.de)

"It is thanks to the family that they have made a brand out of wine. And that for over 50 years." Captain Cork.
