“Capitel dei Nicalò" Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOC 2018
The Valpolicella produced in the Appassimento or Amarone process presents itself with a rich ruby violet. The nose has compact notes of ripe cherries, blackberries, some cloves, elderberries and liquorice, with subtle hints of chocolate in the background. Full and powerful with a lot of melting on the palate. SUPERIORE.DE
"The wine is matured in Slavonian oak barrels for 12 months, then a further six months in bottle. The result is a spicy wine with hedgerow fruit aromas, zippy acidity and stark red-fruited freshness. Fresh, zingy and fruity, it has wild raspberry and blackberry flavours filled out by some barrel spice and chocolate. Delicious, and great with food." Decanter

“Capitel San Rocco” Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore DOC 2018
After two years of ageing in Slavonian oak barrels, San Rocco invites you to enjoy its warm character and lush, dark fruity and expressive taste. SUPERIORE.DE
"The bouquet has hints of mesquite smoke and toasted spice that frame dark plum and dried cherry. It's a classic wine as far as Ripasso goes, executed with a very clean and fruit-forward style." Robert Parker
"The 2018 Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso Capitel San Rocco is peppery and floral with black raspberries and crushed stone. This is silky and elegant in feel, with a streak of savory herbs and tart cherry fruits that slowly saturate. It finishes leaving the palate drenched in primary concentration and lightly structured with hints of licorice to linger." Vinous
"Tightly packed plum and berry on the nose, with some laurel leaves and a hint of black pepper. Medium-to full-bodied with lots of tension to the fruit and quite a tight tannin frame. It’s all there, but this is like a closed fist. Needs time to open up and expand." James Suckling

“Maternigo” Valpolicella Superiore DOC 2017
An accessible, fruit-driven classic at a high level. Clear scent of wild berries and flowers, on the palate a mix of dark berry notes, fine spices and loose, light tannins. Flavour and depth give this noble Valpolicella its wonderful drinking flow. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sweet damson and plum aromas with a twist of bitter licorice and a light geranium-like floral note. Medium-to full-bodied with the same flavor profile, which might not be for everyone. Yet, it’s persistent and balanced by good acidity and fine, lightly firm tannins." James Suckling
"Harvested from a panoramic three-hectare vineyard site with white and yellow marls soil. From this special spot comes a generous, mid-weight red with bold cherry, blackberry and notes of iron or rusty nail. You also get some violet and dried blue flower." Robert Parker

“Marne 180” Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG 2018
The name says it all: Marne means marl soil, on which the vines for this wonderful Amarone grow. They are at least 20 years old and lie in an ideal 180° direction - from south-west to south-east. Rich, shiny ruby red, compact bouquet with intense aromas of plum, black cherry, green tea and tobacco, a fine chocolate note in the background. The body, coated with fine berry fruit, develops a dynamic taste experience on the palate with sweet fruit melting, taut tannin and a long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Shimmering ruby red with a sparkling core. In the nose of ripe heart cherries, delicate cigar tobacco, fruit tea, in the aftertaste delicate sealing wax. Gripping and tightly woven tannin on the palate, showing savoury dark berry fruit, lovely nuances of dark chocolate, has grip throughout, lingers long." Falstaff
"An expressive red, revealing a juicy range of sun-dried cherry and strawberry fruit flavors layered with creamy tannins and citrus peel acidity. Well-spiced and lightly zesty throughout, with savory accents of stemmy herbs and tobacco driving the chewy finish." Wine Spectator

“Maternigo” Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva DOCG 2016
Maternigo means "land of the mother" and is also the name of one of the Tedeschi family's vineyards. The vineyards cover about 33 hectares in the territory of two municipalities, namely the municipality of Tregnago and the municipality of Mezzane di Sotto. The new Cru-Amarone Riserva Maternigo is produced only in the best years, its grapes coming exclusively from the Barila vineyard. This single vineyard was selected after a careful zoning and characterisation of the soil, which is characterised by a very low growth rate and consequently produces grapes rich in structure.
This gives it its own complex and aromatic character, characterised by a high concentration of natural aromatic components in the grapes. This complexity makes for an intense bouquet of red fruits and Mediterranean flowers. On the palate, these notes are echoed, joined by subtle notes of eucalyptus, which give the wine freshness and, at the same time, hints of sweet spices. The impressive result is an elegant wine with great structure and exciting development potential - and a distinctive sensory experience. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, rich ruby red. In the nose noble and clear, of ripe, rich cherries, red peach, rose hips and forest berry mousse, fine spicy components in the finish. Full-bodied and dense on the palate, opens richly with dark berry fruit components, juicy tannin envelops the fine melting, final long with fine pressure on elderberry syrup." Falstaff
"The 2016 Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva Maternigo is ashy and intense, as tobacco gives way to peppery herbs, dried cherries and dark chocolate. It’s velvety-smooth and glycerol in feel, with a dense wave of ripe red fruits and confectionary spice all carried by saline-minerals and brisk acids. It leaves a staining of rich sweet fruit along with violet and lavender tones while tapering off lightly structured. The 2016 took some time to come together in the glass, yet it really shows the magic of the vintage. Bravo." Vinous
"Shows a lot of reserve on the nose with a tight package of baked red-cherry aromas and some bright mineral, almost wet-stone character. Mediterranean herbs, too. Full-bodied palate that’s again under control, but there’s a dense package of firm, fine tannin, dried fruit and spice waiting to burst out. Hard to believe this is 17% alcohol, it’s so well constructed. This will be superb in a year or two and onwards, if you can resist the temptation now. Best from 2023." James Suckling

“La Fabriseria” Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva DOCG 2015
Amarone della Valpolicella Classico La Fabriseria shows itself massive and with seductive complexity. Deep bouquet of black berries and cocoa, violets and lavender. The taste is immensely fruity with aromas of cherry, blackberry and wild berry, plus the invigorating impressions of medicinal herbs again and again. The finish is elegant and long with a fine sweetness and a hint of mint. For us, one of the greatest wines of the Valpolicella! SUPERIORE.DE
"Powerful, bright ruby. Very clear and intense nose, full of dark currant sweets, dark cherry juice, spicy honey and some resin in the background. Dense and full-bodied in the attack and course, shows lots of grippy, dense tannin, flows clearly and calmly, dark pepper in the finish, very much storage potential." Falstaff
"A pure beam of crème de cassis and baked black cherry fruit flavors is accented by an enticing range of sandalwood, licorice and Earl Grey tea leaf notes in this finely meshed, medium- to full-bodied red. Long and mouthwatering, with a rich hint of fig cake and a tang of minerally iron playing on the lightly chewy finish." Wine Spectator
"Crushed violet, baked plum, underbrush and new leather aromas mingle together in the glass. Velvety and densely concentrated, the bold, delicious palate doles out mouthfuls of raspberry jam, steeped prune and baking spice before a tobacco finish. Despite its big, bold structure, it boasts refined tannins that provide seamless support and polish." Wine Enthusiast
"The 2015 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva La Fabriseria trades power for elegance and feminine beauty. Notes of mineral-laced ripe cherries, currants, sage and cocoa gain in volume and depth with time in the glass. It’s seamless and silky, coasting across a core of vibrant acids, with juicy red and black fruits giving way to sweet spice and pretty inner florals. A bitter hint of coffee and savory herbal notes join with tart blackberry and resonate for well over a minute. This is simply gorgeous." Vinous
"The top-shelf wine from the Tedeschi family is their 2015 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva la Fabriseria. The wine is a careful assembly of 40% Corvina, 40% Corvinone, 15% Rondinella and 5% Oseleta, all aged in oak for 48 months. The appassimento process has produced a powerful and muscular wine that opens to thick layers of black fruit, prune, dried cherry, spice, mesquite smoke, iron and sweet rum cake. With only 2,500 bottles made, this full-bodied, blockbuster wine is a lesson in all the beautiful excesses that extreme Amarone has to offer." Robert Parker

In the past, the clan used to drive wicker bottles filled with wine to Verona on a cart. But those days are over. Today, the Tedeschi family winery is one of the most historically important winegrowing businesses in Valpolicella. Documents from their own archives show that the family had already acquired vineyards in 1630. Almost 200 years later, Nicolò Tedeschi laid the foundation stone for today's Azienda. In the meantime, the winery from San Pietro is run by Antonietta, Sabrina and Riccardo. In their work, the three siblings are supported with tips and suggestions from their very successful and experienced father Lorenzo. Over the years, the selective purchase of top vineyards has been particularly important for the development of the family business, which is now in its fifth generation and is known above all for its Amarone.
Thus, the family acquired the vineyard Monte Olmi in the Classico area north of Verona. The origin of the clay and limestone soil dates back to the Ice Age. Later, the seven-hectare vineyard hill La Fabriseria between Fumane and Sant'Ambrogio was added. Adjacent to the Lucchine vineyard is the 'Centro di Apassimento', which was only completed in 2007. In rooms specially designed for drying grapes, the temperature and humidity can be controlled very precisely. A year earlier, the Tedeschis had acquired the 84-hectare Tenuta Maternigo (Mother Earth) in eastern Valpolicella. So far, however, only 31 hectares of land in the municipalities of Mezzane and Tregnano have been used for winegrowing. Some of the plots have been newly planted. In the Maternigo vineyard, native grape varieties such as Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Oseleta thrive on 200 to 450 metre high vineyards.
With the purchase of the Maternigo estate, Tedeschi has embarked on another era of improvement and renewal of historic wines, with the aim of optimally matching the traditional power with even greater elegance and refinement inherent in the grapes of this terroir. In order to constantly raise the level, the solid family business has always invested continuously in vineyards and cellar. The results of all the efforts to improve quality are remarkable. The wines are balanced, aromatic and well structured. They have personality and convince with their unmistakable style and character. The wide range of wines reflects the expression of the Veneto vine cultures. The important selections are only produced in particularly good years. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Tedeschi siblings' winery embodies the very own history of the Valpolicella area, made up of vineyards, wines and special people. The wines never fail to impress with their excellent ageing potential, and even after years they present themselves with youthful finesse and a tension that rarely emerges in the first years of life." Gambero Rosso
