“Capitel dei Nicalò" Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOC 2019
The Valpolicella produced in the Appassimento or Amarone process presents itself with a rich ruby violet. The nose has compact notes of ripe cherries, blackberries, some cloves, elderberries and liquorice, with subtle hints of chocolate in the background. Full and powerful with a lot of melting on the palate. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dusty roses, licorice, tart cherries and peppery herbs waft up from the 2019 Valpolicella Superiore Capitel Nicalo'. This is silky in texture, with a flourish of sweet fruit that’s balanced by saline-minerals and savory spice. A hint of sour tangerine citrus adds further depths. It finishes long, staining and structured, with hints of sweet tannin that provide grip. The Capitel Nicalo' is produced using grapes that are dried for three to four weeks prior to refining for one year in large barrels." Vinous
"A juicy red, featuring an herbal overtone, lightly chewy tannins and lots of steeped cherry and raspberry fruit flavors with coffee liqueur and Mandarin orange peel accents. Well-knit and medium-bodied, with a hint of smoke showing on the finish. This calls out for food, a hearty pasta or meat on the grill." Wine Spectator
"This is a classic Valpolicella from a classic estate. This wine has a near perfect balance between fruity and herbal characteristics. A combination of cherry, Mission fig and blueberry aromas and flavors clear the path for the more earth-driven notes of black tea, anise and roasted coffee. The palate is luscious and has bright acidity to freshen the palate after each sip." Wine Enthusiast
"Very pleasant notes of lightly spiced aronia berries and a hint of sous bois, following through to a medium body with lightly firm, well-integrated tannins and a long, bright finish, leaving an aftertaste of cherry dark chocolate. Serious Valpo and delicious." James Suckling

Vinified using the Appassimento or Amarone method, San Rocco, after two years of ageing in Slavonian oak barrels, invites you to enjoy its warm, sincere character and lush, dark-fruited and expressive flavour. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, noble ruby red. In the nose after juicy cherries, fine vegetal hints and red pepper, in the finish after bitter chocolate powder. Shows beautiful melting on the palate, in addition noble vegetal tone, very substantial and grippy in the course, reverberates for a long time." Falstaff
"A dense bouquet of bright red and black berries with hints of violets and chocolate powder. Medium-bodied with fresh, citrusy acidity that gives energy and focus. No tannin to speak of until the very end where there is a little grip. Sustained. It's pretty straightforward and delicious to drink, but will gain complexity with another year in bottle." James Suckling
"A smokey mix of crushed ashen stone, dried black cherries and exotic spice smolders up from the 2019 Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso Capitel San Rocco. This is silky in feel with cooling acidity. Mineral-tinged red berries add a lovely inner tension, and a citrus hint adds beautiful contrast. "Intense ruby red. Notes of ripe sour cherries and plums on the nose, followed by dark chocolate, liquorice and tobacco. Soft and enveloping in the mouth, juicy with a nice savoury vein and spicy finish." Falstaff
"A perfect balance of fresh and dried black fruits on the nose, along with notes of pressed flowers and walnut shells. Medium to full-bodied and very silky with bright orange acidity and a long, fresh and powerful finish. The fine, powdery tannins are almost imperceptible. Very clean and direct. A good example of modern Valpo." James Suckling
"The darkly alluring 2019 Valpolicella Superiore Marternigo wafts up with a gorgeous bouquet that mixes violets, lavender and crushed rocks with musky red currants. This flows across the silky and refined palate, with a pretty inner sweetness contrasting its peppery red berry fruits. It leaves a subtle coating of tannins, a tart twang of sour cherry, and a salty flourish as rosy inner florals slowly fade. This is a beautiful wine of contrasts." Vinous

“La Fabriseria” Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOC 2019
La Fabriseria comes across as an elegant, medium-weight Amarone. Its intensity, tannin structure and density are hard to beat in this price range. Very juicy on the palate, full-bodied soft, with notes of cherries, cardamom and cloves. And always with the elegant seriousness of the eponymous great flagship of the Tedeschi family. SUPERIORE.DE
"Very deep ruby red. Spicy notes of white pepper and tobacco on the nose, with hints of coffee and small red fruits. In the mouth full-bodied and intense, soft, with character, personality and pronounced tannins on the finish, lingers long." Falstaff
"A dense nose of dried fruit, mainly plums and black berries, which opens up a little on the medium-bodied palate, but the fruit is still essentially wrapped in a cocoon of fine, slightly drying tannin. This wine clearly needs more time in bottle to develop, but it shows great promise. Try decanting it now, but best from 2024." James Suckling
"The 2019 Valpolicella Superiore La Fabriseria is a total pleasure on the nose, with an opulent blend of crushed black cherries complemented by cinnamon, clove and cocoa. This is silky and supple, with vibrant acidity that further enlivens its ripe red fruits and inner spice. The 2019 tapers off with amazing length but also freshness, leaving a subtle tug of fine tannins as raspberry and licorice hints slowly fade. This is a real crowd-pleaser." Vinous

“Marne 180” Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG 2019
The name says it all: Marne means marl soil, on which the vines for this wonderful Amarone grow. They are over 20 years old and lie in an ideal 180° direction, from south-west to south-east. Rich, shiny ruby red, compact bouquet with intense aromas of plum, black cherry, green tea and tobacco, with a fine chocolate note in the background. The body, coated with fine berry fruit, develops a dynamic taste experience on the palate with sweet fruit melting, taut tannin and a long finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2019 Amarone della Valpolicella Marne 180 is spicy and quite mineral-driven, opening with various wild berry fruits, herbal tones and brown spice. This splashes with a juicy mix of ripe red and black fruits across the palate. Saline minerals slowly saturate, adding traction toward the close. The 2019 finishes with a burst of inner sweetness contrasted by a chewy concentration and framing tannins, leaving tart cherry and sage nuances lingering." Vinous

“Ansari” Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG 2017
Ansari is the new star in Tedeschi's Amarone sky. Just 6,600 bottles were produced from the 2016 debut vintage. It was named after the three Tedeschi siblings Antonietta, Sabrina and Riccardo, who also selected the three barrels from which the blend was made.
Rich bouquet of dried fruit, sultanas, rum and chocolate. Firm on the palate with excellent structure, the opulent fruit core is joined by balsamic, herbal notes, then a piquant bitter note in the long finish. A perfect new addition to the top-class Amarone line-up of the famous family winery. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2017 Amarone della Valpolicella Ansari is dark and rich in the glass with a heady bouquet of crushed cherries, rosemary, mocha and sweet tobacco. This enters the palate with a pretty inner sweetness up front contrasted by a wave of tart red fruits and exotic spice, taking on a bitter hint of sour citrus toward the close. The 2017 finishes incredibly long, leaving a staining of primary concentration along edgy tannins that promise many years of further development. " Vinous
"Incredibly dense aromas and flavours of fresh and dried black fruits, including currants, crushed berries, dates and passion fruit, along with notes of perfumed bark and walnuts. Full and fruity with a very fine tannic framework that drives the complex fruit flavours. Very long finish. Despite the 17.5% alcohol indicated on the bottle, it shows remarkable control. So drinkable now, but it should also age very well." James Suckling

“Capitel Monte Olmi” Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva DOCG 2016
Intense, bright ruby red. Very clear scent of ripe cherries, cassis, elderberries and plums, in the background sandalwood, cloves and white pepper. Grandiose fruit on the palate, lots of grippy tannin, complex, long and multilayered. An exciting, still quite young wine with enormous potential for many, many years. SUPERIORE.DE
"Intense ruby red with violet. Pleasant herbal and fruity nose with woody and floral notes of roses and geranium and darker toasted and tobacco notes. Firm, broad and full-bodied on the palate. Spicy and savoury tannins, great drinking pleasure." Falstaff
"Tobacco leaf and freshly cut cigar on the nose. Black pepper to its white. Dark cherries, wild thyme, cranberries in cherry syrup, black olives, Darjeeling tea leaves and cumin, interwoven with sensual, deeply silky tannins. Sabrina Tedeschi says she keeps finding minty notes in this wine, and I can see what she means. Beautiful spirals of blood orange acidity up and down the wine. Long, lingering and, like all Tedeschi wines, exquisitely balanced - there is something truly regal about this wine." Jancis Robinson
"The lowest Amarone parcel, on a calcareous substrata. A 'big boy' as the estate calls it. Expansive across the mouth, with a thick spindle of tannins spooling porcini, terracotta, clove, thyme, anise and polished leather. A waft of balsamic across the long and authoritative finish. This is a sumptuous wine of both power and precision." James Suckling
"The 2016 Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva Monte Olmi has a woody character that blends perfectly with aromas of soaked plums, sage, cedar chips and cocoa. The palate is coated with an opulent, silky texture, while a core of juicy acidity adds an attractive sweetness to the tart wild berries and exotic spices. The 2016 finishes with fine tannins and a long-lasting concentration, with raspberry and clove nuances slowly fading away. It is a beauty, but needs further ageing to be at its best." Vinous
"Tedeschi's historic Amarone, which comes from 2.5 hectares of vineyards in Pedemonte di Valpolicella in the Classico area. The higher clay content compared to the calcareous soils of the Maternigo vineyard underlines its great, dense and powerful character. Fragrant aromas of potpourri contrast with hints of meat broth and rich black fruits. Concentrated and focused, the red and black fruit flavours combine with balsamic freshness and a very good acidity that breaks up the monolithic weight. On the finish, nuances of violets and red fruits combine with chocolate, coffee and spices, carried by a bubblegum-like acidity. Wow!" Decanter

“Capitel Monte Olmi” Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva DOCG 2013
Powerful, energetic and extremely racy Amarone from one of the most renowned producers of Valpolicella. It is spicy and delicious, yet never cloying or overloaded. It is full-bodied but never opulent, and it shows character and finesse rather than heavy-handed extract and muscle. As it matures, it will continue to grow in elegance and document the class and skill of the Tedeschi family in a masterful way. SUPERIORE.DE
"Shiny, rich ruby with garnet rim. Finely marked nose with rich notes of cherry, some cardamom, capers in the background. Tight and dense in attack and course, emphatically dry style, builds up rich pressure, long finish." Falstaff
"There is an unbelievable amount of vibrant, unbridled energy in the 2013 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva Capitel Monte Olmi. Zesty black cherry, sage, brown spice, cacao and white smoke can all be found here. It’s textural yet juicy in character, mixing savory and sweet with its display of ripe red and black fruits. Long and saturating to the senses, but never cloying, it tapers off with a hint of bitter dark chocolate. While this may not have the power of bigger vintages, it makes up for that in character and sheer drinkability." Vinous
"Crushed pine and green olive notes lend a savory edge to this dense, tightly knit red, enmeshed with baked black currant and spice box flavors and racy minerality. Sleek and mouthwatering, this full-bodied example shows zesty spice and herb elements lingering on the grippy finish." Wine Spectator
"There’s a surprisingly herbal note to this, reminiscent of peppercorns and bell pepper, but that only adds to the impression of dark cherries, dark plums and elderberry compote. Hints of vanilla and cloves. Round and very mouth-filling on the palate with a plethora of menthol, asphalt and tar, coating every extremity of the mouth. The finish has an ever-so-slight, sweet impression, but there’s firmness aplenty." James Suckling
"This 2013 Amarone, from 55- to 60-year-old vines in the Capitel Monte Olmi vineyard, shows Tedeschi back on form. 'I like this vertical style of Amarone,' comments Riccardo Tedeschi. It has a bright, pure, youthful character with notes of eucalyptus and mint. Firm but fine-textured tannins and a soft and silky mid-palate lead to a savoury finish with grip and bite." Decanter
"The Tedeschi 2013 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva Capitel Monte Olmi is rich and fully intense in a manner only achieved with air-dried fruit in which each cluster is dehydrated to offer more pulp, sugar and alcohol. The Tedeschi family does a great job, and they make some of the most robust and age-worthy bottles you can find. The wine opens to densely extracted blackberry and plum and plenty of exotic spice with tar, cardamom and cola." Wine Advocate

Strong ruby red. Opulent aromas of dark berries, mint, spices, forest floor and undergrowth. In the balanced, powerful drink very clear, juicy and tight. "Dark, brilliant ruby red. Medicinal tones in the nose, balsamic, eucalyptus, black currants, in the reverberation easily after rubber. Fresh and juicy on the palate, stretches clear and long across the tongue, concentrated yet fruity, precise, has lively acidity, long and savoury finish." Falstaff
"Inviting aromas of tilled soil, underbrush and ripe dark-skinned berry lead the nose. The full-bodied concentrated palate delivers prune, raspberry compote, star anise and black pepper alongside big fine-grained tannins." Wine Enthusiast
"The incredible spice, black-plum and bitter cocoa-powder nose of this Amarone rivets you to the spot. Stunning concentration and a breathtaking balance of fruit, tannin and some magic. Very long, silky finish." James Suckling
"The 2012 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva Capitel Monte Olmi shows huge intensity over a robust mouthfeel. I love that eucalyptus balsamic note that comes up at the top, rounded off by softer notes of chocolate and tobacco. The blend is 30% Corvina, 30% Corvinone, 30% Rondinella and a 10% selection of Oseleta, Negrara, Dindarella, Croatina and Forselina. Aging takes place in large Slavonian oak casks. This is a powerful, full-bodied wine with a knockout 17% alcohol punch that makes no apologies for its strength. It comes forward with pride and boastfulness." Wine Advocate

“Maternigo” Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva DOCG 2016
Maternigo means "land of the mother" and is also the name of one of the Tedeschi family's vineyards. The vineyards cover about 33 hectares in the territory of two municipalities, namely the municipality of Tregnago and the municipality of Mezzane di Sotto. The new Cru-Amarone Riserva Maternigo is produced only in the best years, its grapes coming exclusively from the Barila vineyard. This single vineyard was selected after a careful zoning and characterisation of the soil, which is characterised by a very low growth rate and consequently produces grapes rich in structure.
This gives it its own complex and aromatic character, characterised by a high concentration of natural aromatic components in the grapes. This complexity makes for an intense bouquet of red fruits and Mediterranean flowers. On the palate, these notes are echoed, joined by subtle notes of eucalyptus, which give the wine freshness and, at the same time, hints of sweet spices. The impressive result is an elegant wine with great structure and exciting development potential - and a distinctive sensory experience. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, rich ruby red. In the nose noble and clear, of ripe, rich cherries, red peach, rose hips and forest berry mousse, fine spicy components in the finish. Full-bodied and dense on the palate, opens richly with dark berry fruit components, juicy tannin envelops the fine melting, final long with fine pressure on elderberry syrup." Falstaff
"The 2016 Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva Maternigo is ashy and intense, as tobacco gives way to peppery herbs, dried cherries and dark chocolate. It’s velvety-smooth and glycerol in feel, with a dense wave of ripe red fruits and confectionary spice all carried by saline-minerals and brisk acids. It leaves a staining of rich sweet fruit along with violet and lavender tones while tapering off lightly structured. The 2016 took some time to come together in the glass, yet it really shows the magic of the vintage. Bravo." Vinous
"Shows a lot of reserve on the nose with a tight package of baked red-cherry aromas and some bright mineral, almost wet-stone character. Mediterranean herbs, too. Full-bodied palate that’s again under control, but there’s a dense package of firm, fine tannin, dried fruit and spice waiting to burst out. Hard to believe this is 17% alcohol, it’s so well constructed. This will be superb in a year or two and onwards, if you can resist the temptation now. Best from 2023." James Suckling

“Capitel Monte Olmi” Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva DOCG 2011
Intense, bright colour, very clear scent of ripe cherries, a bit of plums, cloves and white pepper in the background. Grandiose fruit on the palate, much grippy tannin, long. An exciting, still quite young wine with enormous potential for many, many years. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, sparkling ruby red. Concentrated and multi-layered nose of warm, ripe forest berries, blackcurrant, black elderberries, underlaid with fine sandalwood. Powerful with much tension on the palate, builds up in many layers, fruit, spice, densely woven and juicy tannin, ends with firm pressure, can still mature, is now already an experience." Falstaff
"Fully saturated red. Deep, rich aromas of balsamic cocoa, blackberry jam and aromatic herbs. Sweet and creamy in the mouth, with the depth and intensity of fresh dark fruit and balsamic flavors to support its oakiness. Rich and savory, this finishes with excellent energy and outstanding grip and length. The Capitel Monte Olmi always showcases a stronger balsamic note than Tedeschi’s entry level Amarone. " Ian d’Agata (vinous.com)
"Intriguing and aromatic on the nose, with lovely sage and incense character, here's a sleek, full-bodied red that reins in its power to a tightly-knit core of raspberry puree, Earl Grey tea leaf and rich, loamy earth flavors that linger on the long and fragrant finish." Wine Spectator
"If you like big Amarones, this one is big with a capital B. The most robust and powerful of the bunch, the 2011 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva Capitel Monte Olmi is also sophisticated and integrated, despite its huge alcohol content at 17%. I knew the alcohol was high, but I would have never guessed it was that high, and that speaks to the relative balance achieved here. It is sweet, robust and richly layered and textured in the mouth. This is a huge wine that will make you very happy, very fast. The blend is 30% Corvina, 30% Corvinone, 30% Rondinella and a 10% mix of Oseleta, Negrara, Dindarella, Croatina and Forselina, which comes from the Monte Olmi vineyard in the Pedemonte hills. The grapes are dried for a lengthy four months. This is the estate's flagship label, and it became a Riserva starting with the 2009 vintage." Wine Advocate
"Very ripe morello cherries, dark plums, cigar box, kirsch and stemmy undertones, but also orange rind and plenty of floral elements. Full body, powerful and grainy tannins and a dense yet driven finish. Extremely pure fruit. This is always reserved and beautiful." James Suckling

“Capitel Monte Olmi” Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva DOCG 2016 · MAGNUM in OWC

“La Fabriseria” Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva DOCG 2015
Amarone della Valpolicella Classico La Fabriseria shows itself massive and with seductive complexity. Deep bouquet of black berries and cocoa, violets and lavender. The taste is immensely fruity with aromas of cherry, blackberry and wild berry, plus the invigorating impressions of medicinal herbs again and again. The finish is elegant and long with a fine sweetness and a hint of mint. For us, one of the greatest wines of the Valpolicella! SUPERIORE.DE
"Powerful, bright ruby. Very clear and intense nose, full of dark currant sweets, dark cherry juice, spicy honey and some resin in the background. Dense and full-bodied in the attack and course, shows a lot of grippy, dense tannin, flows clearly and calmly, dark pepper in the finish, very much Storage potential." Falstaff
"A pure beam of crème de cassis and baked black cherries is accented by an enticing palette of sandalwood, liquorice and Earl Grey tea leaf notes in this fine-mesh, medium to full-bodied red. Long and delicious, with a rich hint of fig cake and a touch of mineral iron on the slightly chewy finish." Wine Spectator
"In the glass, aromas of crushed violet, baked plum, underbrush and new leather combine. The palate is velvety and densely concentrated, offering delicious raspberry jam, soaked plums and baking spices before finishing with a tobaccoic finish. Despite its big, bold structure, it has refined tannins that support and polish it seamlessly." Wine Enthusiast
"Sumptuous notes of balsamic, mint, dried thyme, kirsch and mountain herb. A raft of tannins doused with dried tobacco leaf and clove, compress the fruit as much as promote it. The thick-skinned oseleta is in the blend, contributing immensely to the firm structural lattice. Drive, power and length, with no dearth of freshness. Excellent Amarone for those seeking power as much as freshness. This has a very traditional, savoury air to it. One glass is not quite sufficient in this case." James Suckling
"The Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva La Fabriseria 2015 trades power for elegance and feminine beauty. Notes of mineral ripe cherries, currants, sage and cocoa gain volume and depth with time in the glass. The wine is seamless and silky, gliding over a core of lively acids, with juicy red and black fruits giving way to sweet spices and pretty flowers. A bitter hint of coffee and spicy herbal notes combine with tart blackberries and linger for well over a minute. This is just great." Vinous
"The Tedeschi family's top wine is their 2015 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva la Fabriseria. The wine is a careful blend of 40% Corvina, 40% Corvinone, 15% Rondinella and 5% Oseleta, all aged in oak for 48 months. The appassimento process has produced a powerful and muscular wine that opens with thick layers of black fruits, plums, dried cherries, spices, mesquite smoke, iron and sweet rum cake. With only 2,500 bottles made, this full-bodied blockbuster wine is a lesson in all the beautiful excesses that extreme Amarone has to offer." Wine Advocate

“Maternigo” Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva DOCG 2016 · MAGNUM in OWC
The impressive result is an elegant wine with great structure and exciting development potential - and an unmistakable sensory experience.

In the past, the clan used to drive wicker bottles filled with wine to Verona on a cart. But those days are over. Today, the Tedeschi family winery is one of the most historically important winegrowing businesses in Valpolicella. Documents from their own archives show that the family had already acquired vineyards in 1630. Almost 200 years later, Nicolò Tedeschi laid the foundation stone for today's Azienda. In the meantime, the winery from San Pietro is run by Antonietta, Sabrina and Riccardo. In their work, the three siblings are supported with tips and suggestions from their very successful and experienced father Lorenzo. Over the years, the selective purchase of top vineyards has been particularly important for the development of the family business, which is now in its fifth generation and is known above all for its Amarone.
Thus, the family acquired the vineyard Monte Olmi in the Classico area north of Verona. The origin of the clay and limestone soil dates back to the Ice Age. Later, the seven-hectare vineyard hill La Fabriseria between Fumane and Sant'Ambrogio was added. Adjacent to the Lucchine vineyard is the 'Centro di Apassimento', which was only completed in 2007. In rooms specially designed for drying grapes, the temperature and humidity can be controlled very precisely. A year earlier, the Tedeschis had acquired the 84-hectare Tenuta Maternigo (Mother Earth) in eastern Valpolicella. So far, however, only 31 hectares of land in the municipalities of Mezzane and Tregnano have been used for winegrowing. Some of the plots have been newly planted. In the Maternigo vineyard, native grape varieties such as Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Oseleta thrive on 200 to 450 metre high vineyards.
With the purchase of the Maternigo estate, Tedeschi has embarked on another era of improvement and renewal of historic wines, with the aim of optimally matching the traditional power with even greater elegance and refinement inherent in the grapes of this terroir. In order to constantly raise the level, the solid family business has always invested continuously in vineyards and cellar. The results of all the efforts to improve quality are remarkable. The wines are balanced, aromatic and well structured. They have personality and convince with their unmistakable style and character. The wide range of wines reflects the expression of the Veneto vine cultures. The important selections are only produced in particularly good years. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Tedeschi siblings' winery embodies the very own history of the Valpolicella area, made up of vineyards, wines and special people. The wines never fail to impress with their excellent ageing potential, and even after years they present themselves with youthful finesse and a tension that rarely emerges in the first years of life."
