Dolcetto d’Alba DOC 2022
"Our Dolcetto has a typically Piedmontese DNA. The careful vinification aims to make it softer and rounder to emphasise its drinkability. Thanks to its particular organoleptic characteristics, it not only accompanies Langhe dishes with elegance and harmony." Franco Massolino
Bright ruby red with violet reflections. Open and generous wine with lots of dark fruit, cherry and sweet blackberry. On the palate of medium weight, but thanks to the natural richness of the Dolcetto grape, full-bodied and with a vinous character. The typical, delicate almond note in the finish. SUPERIORE.DE

Massolino's Moscato is a lot of fun, and not only when you drink it in summer. Bright straw yellow. On the fresh bouquet jasmine, honey, mint, wild sage and chalk. Barbera d’Alba DOC 2022
"Barbera d'Alba DOC is a typical wine of our area. Thanks to the careful selection, the excellent sites and the low yields, we obtain grapes of very high quality that give complex wines. We have chosen to vinify it only in steel to bring out its fruity notes." Franco Massolino
Massolino's Barbera d'Alba is all about the fresh and juicy fruit. Interesting bouquet with beautifully integrated aromas of forest floor and mushrooms. Fresh and lively on the palate, very accessible and with impressive drinking flow. Not a particularly complex or even complicated red, but it brings a lot of fun into the glass - a fresh, sincere expression of the Barbera grape! SUPERIORE.DE

Chardonnay Langhe DOC 2021
"This wine was a challenge for us in the beginning. But in the Langa region, traditionally the home of full-bodied red wines, Chardonnay has now found a second home, bringing out exciting white wines, rich and suitable for long ageing." Franco Massolino
Medium-light straw yellow. Imaginative bouquet of yellow roses, almond blossoms, fruit trees and poached pear. Warm and expansive on the palate, with a minerality full of character and just the right dose of fresh acidity that gives it complexity, length and good ageing potential in the overall impression. Riesling Langhe DOC 2021
"The grapes come from the highest vineyard on our estate, in Monforte d'Alba, at an altitude of about 530 metres above sea level. Here, the climatic conditions ensure the freshness and acidity that make Riesling one of the most famous grape varieties in the world and one of our great passions." Franco Massolino
Bright in the glass, a fresh, lush nose of citrus, beeswax, sage, petrol and rock. Vertical on the palate, very tasty, with a characteristic acidity, when young the fruit predominates, with increasing maturity an impressive complexity follows. Only about 6,000 bottles were produced. SUPERIORE.DE

Barolo DOCG 2019 · MAGNUM
"Our Barolo (Classico) has been a successful synthesis of the different characteristics of the Massolino vineyards for over 70 years. Thanks to traditional ageing in large Slavonian oak barrels, we preserve its pure and unadulterated identity and its complex aromas." Franco Massolino
Traditionally vinified Barolo from the best vineyard sites of the estate. Strong garnet red. Complex, spicy bouquet of liquorice, tobacco, dried flowers, violets and damp leaves. In the mouth very emphatic, firm and full-bodied. Currently, still noticeable, rubust tannins flank its racy and forward-driven nature. Finishes with a fine sweetness, elegant and long. The already undisputed high level will continue to develop in full beauty over the next few years. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red. A subtle, lifted aroma of cherries and cranberries dabbed with spicy oak notes and a hint of orange peel. Juicy, vibrant cherry fruit on the palate with long, grippy tannins on the finish. Fresh, long and elegant." Jancis Robinson
"The 2019 Barolo is a very serious wine. harvestlooking for an uncomplicated, entry-level Barolo will not find it here. Bright and crackling with tannin, the 2019 will need at least a couple of years to fully develop. Crushed rocks, red/purple fruits and dried flowers emerge with some coaxing, but this is truly a wine for the cellar." Vinous
"Lots of lavender, raspberry and orange blossom aromas follow through to a medium body with fine tannins and a polished finish. Lovely drive and balance. Clear and refined." James Suckling
"In the light cream-colored label, the 2019 Barolo is elegant and contained, showing a very focused and linear style that makes a great impression and awakens the senses. There is wild cherry, blue flower and crushes stone backed by balanced freshness and tannins." Wine Advocate

The small, historic town centre of Serralunga d'Alba in Piedmont is home to one of the oldest family-run wineries in the region. Surrounded by magnificent vineyards, the Massolino family has been expressing their love for Piedmont in refined wines here for over a century. Today's owners and brothers Franco and Roberto Massolino tell us in conversation that the farm, founded in 1896, was originally the dream of their great-grandfather Giovanni, who was determined to produce some wine in addition to raising cattle and growing vegetables.
From mixed farming, the next generation developed an extremely successful winery that was to set new quality standards. With the acquisition of coveted vineyard sites, the co-founding of the consortium and the bottling of the region's first single-vineyard Barolo, the Massolino name took its place in the world of top wines in the 1960s. To this day, the family-run winery manages to stay true to its traditional style while reflecting the facets of the Piedmontese terroir in its wines in a modern way.
Due to the calcareous and sandy soils in the south of the region, the local Nebbiolo in particular brings out its mineral and spicy character. The grapes for the basic Barolo and Barbaresco wines come from several growing zones, while the terroir-driven single-vineyard wines are made from the harvest of a single vineyard, following the French model. Small variations in terroir can in themselves mean big differences in taste, which is why you can definitely taste the particularities of the respective vineyard in the precious Vigna Rionda, Margheria, Parafada, Parussi and Albesani single-vineyard wines.
At Massolino, the noble Nebbiolo grape accounts for half of the total vineyard area. In addition, they also know how to bring out the best in the other grape varieties Dolcetto, Barbera, Chardonnay, Riesling and Moscato. While the younger brother Roberto looks after the vineyards, Franco is responsible for the processes in the wine cellar alongside the oenologist Giovanni Angeli. Traditional cement barrels are used for ageing and the red wines have always been matured in the tried and tested large wooden barrels made of Slavonian oak.
It is the relentless drive for progress and improvement of the talented fourth generation of winemakers that has led the historic winery into a new, shining age. With impressive continuity, the top Massolino Vigna Rionda estate produces some of the region's most complex Nebbiolo wines, and those who want to enjoy other Piedmont classics as well as Barolo and Barbaresco will be well served by this range.
