• "Il Bruciato" Rosso Bolgheri DOC 2016

“Il Bruciato” Rosso Bolgheri DOC 2016

From the treasure trove of Tuscany: Deep dark cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah with a wonderful bouquet of lavender and tobacco. Fruity with light spicy and vegetable hints. The taste is concentrated and at the same time soft with a pleasant persistence on the palate. SUPERIORE.DE

"Cherry jam, blackberry and floral aromas and flavors prevail in this fruity red. Well-structured and balanced, if showing a youthful exuberance. Fine length." Wine Spectator

"This is absolutely one of the best value wines you will find in Italy and I suspect beyond. This vintage comes together with seamless intensity and smoothness. You get so much dark fruit flavor, paired with soft tannins, spice, smoke and dried blackberry. Il Bruciato pulls off its magic effortlessly. It doesn't try to be anything other than it is: Delicious." Robert Parker

"This second wine shows such a great balance of round tannins and juicy, creamy and chocolate character. Full, flavorful and joyful. Salty and juicy. Savory and even meaty." James Suckling

    • "Cont' Ugo" Rosso Bolgheri DOC 2016

“Cont' Ugo” Rosso Bolgheri DOC 2016

Dark ruby violet, smells of blackcurrants and unfolds with excellent length, tight tannin and an emphatically spicy note in the final. We are curious to see how this great Tuscan Merlot will continue to soar in the years to come. SUPERIORE.DE

"Intense bright ruby red with brightening rim. In the nose it is hearty and full, intense with ripe wild berries and a gentle spice in the aftertaste, very precise. Dense at the beginning and in the course, opens up on dense and compact tannin, without frills and with full pressure until the final. Falstaff

"A soft and delicious merlot with berry, meat and walnut aromas. Hints of chocolate. Medium body, fine tannins and a delicious, juicy finish." James Suckling

"A pure expression of Merlot, the 2016 Bolgheri Rosso Cont'Ugo is a ripe and loosely knit red wine that would wash down nicely with easy pasta dishes. The wine shows the rich softness of the grape with black cherry, tilled earth and Mediterranean herb. The wine is immediately open and accessible." Robert Parker

"This rich, vibrant red is packed with plum, black cherry and wild thyme flavors, with well-integrated tannins. Flashes of earth, leather and iron segue into the long, fruit-filled aftertaste." Wine Spectator

    • "Guado al Tasso" Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2016

“Guado al Tasso” Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2016

Elegant and complex: Guado al Tasso with a warm bouquet and a fruity fullness that is as convincing as the harmonious structure. Deep dark, rich ruby violet. Very clear and intense nose, smells of blackberries, blackcurrants and dark cherries, underpinned by fine, spicy notes with hints of white pepper and cardamom. Very juicy in the approach and course, shows a lot of sweet melt, interwoven, dense tannin, smooth and elegant, very long aftertaste. An excellent drop, which offers highest drinking pleasure. SUPERIORE.DE

"The bouquet is characterised by intriguing aromas of wild berries, tobacco and leather; the attack is polished, the acidity perfectly integrated, the finish powerful and charming with notes of berry confit, herbs and vanilla. Convinces with fullness and yet also elegance." Vinum

"Powerful, sparkling ruby-red violet. Smells of cranberries and dark currants, some sandalwood. A dense tannin on the palate with a good grip, it shows earthy notes, hearty, fine herbal notes in the final, sweet melting". Falstaff

"An exuberant style, boasting ripe black cherry and plum notes, with hints of coffee, chocolate and toasty oak. Sleek and refined, with a backbone of muscular tannins for support." Wine Spectator

"From alluvial soil of mostly clay and sand, Guado al Tasso is Antinori's top Bolgheri wine. It's a classic Bordeaux blend this year without any Petit Verdot - less bold and rich in style than the 2015 but otherwise extremely elegant and drinkable. It's dark and concentrated, opening to aromas of restrained cassis, clean leather and a hint of earthy minerality. The firm yet ripe palate develops flavours of dense, supple brambly fruit and chocolate. It’s a bit warming on the finish but is otherwise extremely well balanced." Decanter

"Beautiful center palate of fruit here with ripe and silky tannins that are resolved and fine-grained. Full-bodied, polished and ever so refined. Oyster shell, stone and hints of rosemary and lavender. Driven finish." James Suckling

"This stunning vintage of this landmark wine marks a slight adjustment to the blend. The 2016 Bolgheri Superiore Guado Al Tasso is no longer made with Petit Verdot. The blend is now 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and now 20% Cabernet Franc. This small change does not go unnoticed, as this wine is absolutely seamless now—like the finest Asian silk fabric. That profound textural softness and suppleness changes the way the wine smells and tastes, with hints of momentary sweetness that are more tactile than anything else. Generally speaking, the 2016 vintage offers more elegance (slightly less concentration) and a hair more freshness compared to the 2015 edition. When I tasted this wine, the bouquet was still timid, but it will no doubt become more expressive and open as this beautiful wine continues forward along its aging trajectory." Robert Parker

    Guado al Tasso | Antinori

Before it was inherited by the famous Antinori wine-growing family in 1830, the Tenuta Guado al Tasso belonged to the noble family della Gherardesca. It had already begun producing wine in Bolgheri in the second half of the 17th century. It was mainly thanks to Guido Alberto della Gherardesca that decisive changes in viticulture were already introduced on the estate at that time. This magnificent estate of more than a thousand hectares is located in the amphitheatre of Bolgheri. It is surrounded by an idyllic natural landscape of 300 hectares of vineyards, forests, olive groves, Mediterranean flora, sunflowers and cereal fields. On the hills, which are only 45 to 65 metres high, the Mediterranean climate ensures balanced growing conditions throughout the year - an ideal prerequisite for early ripening grape varieties.

No other winery in the Bolgheri region can boast such a high number of vines as Guado al Tasso. Besides the local Sangiovese, the international varieties Merlot, Cabernet and Syrah are cultivated. Petit Verdot and Vermentino are further white variations of the vine portfolio. As a rule, the grape harvest begins at the end of August, about two weeks earlier than in the Tuscan cultivation zones further from the coast.

Thanks to the Antinori family's investments, vineyards and cellars are able to meet the highest demands. At the same time, Piero Antinori, probably the most brilliant and prudent entrepreneur of the Italian wine-growing scene, has significantly strengthened the reputation of the Denomination Bolgheri with his branch. With Renzo Cotarella as general director and oenologist, the prominent owner of the estate also has three very competent daughters at his side. The winery also benefits from a great team of managers, technicians and winemakers who are always committed to ensuring that the Antinori wine dynasty's truly remarkable quality standards are maintained in the future.

The modern style drops of Tenuta Guado al Tasso have an immaculate clear profile throughout and captivate with their perfect fruit ripeness. New wooden barrels are favoured for the maturation of the noble plants in the maturation cellar. For years, the Bolgheri Rosso Superiore Guado al Tasso has been the showpiece of the house's range. This elegant wine is contrasted with the rather simple Bolgheri Rosso Bruciato, which, with its striking wood aroma, is clearly recognisable as a representative of modernity. SUPERIORE.DE

"The Antinori winery can justifiably be described as the most important in Italy. Whether with regard to the quality of their wines, their high worldwide reputation or their perfect distribution structure, this classification does not seem exaggerated."Gambero Rosso
