“Scalabrone” Rosato Bolgheri DOC 2022
Scalabrone presents itself generously every year, but also incredibly fresh. It shows ripe strawberries with hints of sweet cream, tropical kiwi and lime. It washes over the palate with ease, carrying ripe red fruits, a hint of melon and a piquant minerality. The finish is long and flanked by lively acidity and salty minerals. This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah is perfectly balanced and makes this tasty rosato one of the most vibrant in the appellation every year. SUPERIORE.DE
"Pink in colour. In the nose of fresh wild berries and Mediterranean maquis, then slightly of white rose petals. Fresh and juicy on the palate, with a discreet tannic trip, fun, medium-long final." Falstaff
"A pretty blend of roses, strawberries and mint introduces the 2022 Rosato Scalabrone. This is silky-smooth with medium-bodied weight and unexpected depth. Zesty citrus gives way to ripe red berries and sweet spice. A saline tinge of minerality defines the finish as the 2022 tapers off crisply refreshing and buzzing with a residual acid tension." Vinous

“Il Bruciato” Rosso Bolgheri DOC 2021
A convincing and racy cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah with a marvellous bouquet of dark cherries, leather, mocha and lavender. Multi-layered and powerful on the palate with a cornucopia of spice and dark fruit. Well-structured tannins flank the extremely flavourful and expressive finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, shimmering ruby red with a brightening rim. Invitingly fruity nose, opulent aromas of ripe plums, underpinned by clove and cedar wood. Velvety on the palate, with tightly woven tannins, powerful and balanced through to the lingering finish." Falstaff
"It shows plenty of oak with baking chocolate, sweet spices, ripe blackberries, toasted coconut and espresso beans. Given the generous oak, I can understand the appeal." Wine Advocate
"Dark berries dominate the nose, followed by spicy undertones and a stony saltiness. The berries carry over to the palate, while the undertones become sweeter and more citrusy, before a spicy nuttiness emerges on the finish. Balanced tannins and acidity provide warmth." Wine Enthusiast
"Cocoa, walnuts, cherries and bay leaves on the nose. Well integrated and medium-bodied with powdery, dusty tannins and some mineral iron notes on the finish." James Suckling

Dark ruby purple in colour, with a blackcurrant aroma and an outstanding length, firm tannins, fine extract sweetness and a pronounced spicy note on the final. We are excited to see what elegant heights this great Tuscan Merlot will reach in the coming years. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich ruby red colour. Ripe wild berries and plums on the nose, slightly spicy aftertaste, complex nose. Salty on the palate with fine-grained tannins, sweet and fruity, well-balanced, with a long final." Falstaff
"Spicy and peppery on the nose with new leather and graphite, this wine also offers wildflowers and berries. On the palate, it mirrors the nose but shows more depth, with coffee, earthiness and richer fruit. Firm but flexible tannins and healthy acidity provide the contours for a long finish." Wine Enthusiast
"The 2020 Cont'Ugo, 100% Merlot, is rich, pliant and super-expressive. A blast of dark fruit, chocolate, new leather and licorice are front and center. There's a bit less of the bombastic intensity of the early years, but that's not a bad thing at all. Quite the contrary." Vinous

“Guado al Tasso” Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2020
Elegant and complex: Guado al Tasso with a warmly toned bouquet and a fullness of fruit that is just as convincing as the harmonious structure. Deep dark, rich ruby-violet. Very clear and intense nose, smelling of blackberries, cassis and dark cherries, underpinned by fine, spicy notes with hints of white pepper and cardamom. Very juicy in attack and course, shows a lot of sweet melting, interwoven, tightly meshed tannin, supple and elegant, very long finish. An excellent wine that offers the highest drinking pleasure. SUPERIORE.DE
"Elegant, aristocratic bouquet with concise Cabernet spice, graphite, tobacco, cassis, dark cherries and distinctive notes of prickly pear juice. Dense and elegant on the palate, modern style with polished tannin dress, dark fruits again, enormously lingering, great juicy tannin, nothing dries out here. Modern in the best sense, but this is already very well done, some bitter chocolate and nutty notes on the final. Clearly clearer and less marked by wood than in some previous years." Weinwisser
"Aromas of black olives, berries, herbs, red beans, sour cherries and sage follow a full body with chewy tannins and plenty of structure. It is flavourful and intense. Needs time to develop. Best after 2027." James Suckling
"Packed with luscious blackberries, blackcurrants and blueberries, this red wine shows the expressive character of the vintage. Just when you think it's too flamboyant, the solid structure keeps it in check. It shows excellent balance and length with hints of lavender and wild herbs on the long finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc." Wine Spectator
"Multifaceted perfume on notes of cassis and pepper, with a touch of floral aromas; the attack is full-bodied yet invigorating, elegant course with tight tannin but also youthful acidity, smooth, mouth-filling finish, the wood perfectly integrated." Vinum
"The wine shows a beautiful fullness and intensity. The Cabernet Franc is clearly noticeable and gives it the characteristic vertical structure and linearity for which this grape variety is known. You get black fruits, spices, white pepper and no sign of bitter stems or blackberries. Sweet, almost milky tannins are interwoven with fresh acidity, giving this wine good Storage potential. The use of new oak has been scaled back somewhat in this vintage." Wine Advocate
"The Bolgheri Superiore Guado al Tasso 2020 is a rich, resonant wine that captures the natural radiance of the Tuscan coast. Blackberry jam, mocha, plum, chocolate, spice and espresso - all can be found in this medium-bodied but juicy and inviting Bolgheri red wine. The wine is very rich and resonant. This is a classic Guado al Tasso." Vinous
"The nose is rich with notes of blackberries, black cherry and soil, while a white pepper undertone provides pop. On the supple, warm palate, berries continue leading the way, before a salty, chocolaty finish with another kick of pepper. Stoic tannins are balanced by lively, persistent acidity." Wine Enthusiast
"Bright, rich ruby violet with a discreetly lightening rim. In the nose inviting and clear, of ripe wild berry fruit and rich cherry, in addition fine notes of mint, herbal tea, in the reverberation fine noble wood, hints of graphite. On the palate with a juicy entry, then with tightly woven tannin, compact and balanced, clear fruit in the middle section, long final with gentle, elegant pressure." Falstaff
"A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot to best convey the complexity and elegance of the Bolgheri terroir. On the nose, black raspberries, then hints of undergrowth and pepper leaf, with balsamic notes on the finish. In the mouth it is crisp and dense, with iodine-rich tannins." Luca Gardini

Limitation of 1 articles per customer“Matarocchio” Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2019
Matarocchio - a pure Cabernet Franc produced by the Antinori family in a limited edition - is a wine that leaves an overwhelming first, second, third and so on impression. This wonderful and detailed wine is an unforgettable experience, especially for those who are drawn to the irresistible flavours of sun-drenched coastal Tuscany. The fruit comes from a five-hectare plot with well-drained soils and white stones. The vines were planted at the end of the 1990s at a density of 6,000 vines per hectare. The rows of vines are orientated so that they are exposed to the evening breezes that blow in from the beach, and the vines benefit from the strong diurnal temperature fluctuations. Matarocchio represents a crown in the very impressive pyramid of iconic Antinori wines (including Tignanello, Solaia and Guado al Tasso). To date, it has only been produced in 2007, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016.
Matarocchio 2019 is the purest expression of Cabernet Franc and this beautiful creation proves this thesis rock solid. The bouquet is deep and penetrating with delicious and juicy aromatic layers that slowly unfold one after the other. Blackberries and dark currants are followed by tar, liquorice, leather and delicate mineral tones reminiscent of polished river rock. There are also spices, pepper and sweet cloves. The best thing, however, is the elegance and true lightness that emerges in the mouth. The wine is highly structured and richly concentrated, yet straightforward and direct in terms of flavours, with a fleshy and juicy mouthfeel. On the long finish, it has a salty, mineral note that makes your mouth water. In addition, excellent tannins, simply put: an outstanding personality! SUPERIORE.DE
"Lots of dried herbs, grilled pepper and redcurrants on the nose. Also mocha. Full-bodied with firm, fine and chewy tannins. Delicious, with wonderful varietal character. Bright acidity." James Suckling
"This pure Cabernet Franc wine presents itself on the palate with black fruits, baker's chocolate, pressed rose and fragrant mint. There is also plenty of gravel and pencil marks. The Cabernet Franc is a pleasant protagonist, and the wine offers power, intensity and depth with an elegant, full-bodied mouthfeel." Wine Advocate
"The 2019 Matarocchio, the winery's pure Cabernet Franc, is awesome. What a wine! A generally favourable growing season with moderate rain and heat and a new emphasis on finesse produced a silky, racy Matarocchio that reaches a new level of intensity and nuance, with less weight than previous editions. Red-fleshed fruit, blood orange, spices, menthol and espresso pour from the glass. The 2019 Matarocchio is aromatically intense and beautifully complex and an absolute eye-catcher. The 2019 spent 18 months in 100% new oak, exclusively in Taransaud barrels." Vinous

Very clear and intense nose, with aromas of blackberries, cassis and dark cherries, underpinned by fine, spicy notes with hints of white pepper and leather. Very juicy on the attack and on the palate, with plenty of sweet flavour, elegant tannins and a very long finish. A finesse-rich red that offers maximum drinking pleasure and great ageing potential. "The 2021 Bolgheri Superiore Guado al Tasso is a very beautiful wine, but also quite a departure from the style that made it famous years ago. harvestwill find a particularly polished Guado al Tasso, a wine that emphasises finesse rather than power. Silky tannins envelop a core of black cherry fruit, liquorice, spices, mocha and new leather. Bright, savoury undertones extend the exquisite finish. There's more Cabernet Franc in the blend these days, which is reflected in the wine's crazy aromatic presence and feel. Beautiful." Vinous

Before it was inherited by the famous Antinori wine-growing family in 1830, the Tenuta Guado al Tasso belonged to the noble family della Gherardesca. It had already begun producing wine in Bolgheri in the second half of the 17th century. It was mainly thanks to Guido Alberto della Gherardesca that decisive changes in viticulture were already introduced on the estate at that time. This magnificent estate of more than a thousand hectares is located in the amphitheatre of Bolgheri. It is surrounded by an idyllic natural landscape of 300 hectares of vineyards, forests, olive groves, Mediterranean flora, sunflowers and cereal fields. On the hills, which are only 45 to 65 metres high, the Mediterranean climate ensures balanced growing conditions throughout the year - an ideal prerequisite for early ripening grape varieties.
No other winery in the Bolgheri region can boast such a high number of vines as Guado al Tasso. Besides the local Sangiovese, the international varieties Merlot, Cabernet and Syrah are cultivated. Petit Verdot and Vermentino are further white variations of the vine portfolio. As a rule, the grape harvest begins at the end of August, about two weeks earlier than in the Tuscan cultivation zones further from the coast.
Thanks to the Antinori family's investments, vineyards and cellars are able to meet the highest demands. At the same time, Piero Antinori, probably the most brilliant and prudent entrepreneur of the Italian wine-growing scene, has significantly strengthened the reputation of the Denomination Bolgheri with his branch. With Renzo Cotarella as general director and oenologist, the prominent owner of the estate also has three very competent daughters at his side. The winery also benefits from a great team of managers, technicians and winemakers who are always committed to ensuring that the Antinori wine dynasty's truly remarkable quality standards are maintained in the future.
The modern style drops of Tenuta Guado al Tasso have an immaculate clear profile throughout and captivate with their perfect fruit ripeness. New wooden barrels are favoured for the maturation of the noble plants in the maturation cellar. For years, the Bolgheri Rosso Superiore Guado al Tasso has been the showpiece of the house's range. This elegant wine is contrasted with the rather simple Bolgheri Rosso Bruciato, which, with its striking wood aroma, is clearly recognisable as a representative of modernity. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Antinori winery can justifiably be described as the most important in Italy. Whether with regard to the quality of their wines, their high worldwide reputation or their perfect distribution structure, this classification does not seem exaggerated."Gambero Rosso
