“Scalabrone” Rosato Bolgheri DOC 2021
Scalabrone presents itself generously every year, but also incredibly fresh. It shows ripe strawberries with hints of sweet cream, tropical kiwi and lime. It washes over the palate with ease, carrying ripe red fruits, a hint of melon and a piquant minerality. The finish is long and flanked by lively acidity and salty minerals. This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah is perfectly balanced and makes this tasty rosato one of the most vibrant in the appellation every year. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2021 Rosato Scalabrone is smoky, with savory herbal tones and hints of tomato leaf up front that evolve into a more fruit-focused mix of wild strawberries and hints of vanilla bean. This is silky and round, seducing the senses with vibrant acidity that enlivens the ripe red berry and mineral tones within. The 2021 finishes lightly structured, surprisingly so, but also wickedly fresh. Readers can easily hold this for another year in the cellar; but frankly, it’s already a joy to taste." Vinous

“Il Bruciato” Rosso Bolgheri DOC 2020
A convincing and racy cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah with a wonderful bouquet of dark cherries, leather, mocha and lavender. Multi-layered and powerful on the palate with a cornucopia of spice and dark fruit. Well-structured tannins flank the extremely tasty and expressive finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Aromas of sage and currants with blackberries follow through to a full body with intense, round tannins that are nicely crafted. Fresh, flavorful finish. Some dried herbs at the end with a slightly grilled-meat undertone. Drinkable now, but better in two or three years." James Suckling
"I tasted the Guado al Tasso 2020 Bolgheri Rosso Il Bruciato from barrel, but the wine will hit the market in September of this year. Compared to the previous vintage, this edition is richer and slightly denser with nicely concentrated fruit. That extra textural support is a characteristic of this fortunate vintage. This accessible blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah offers tight mineral notes, toasted spice, almond and lots of dark, luscious fruit. To the palate, the wine exhibits softly caressing tannins." Robert Parker

“Cont' Ugo” Rosso Bolgheri DOC 2019
Dark ruby-purple, fragrant with blackcurrants, it unfolds with excellent length, taut tannins, fine extract sweetness and a pronounced spicy note in the final. We are curious to see what elegant heights this great Tuscan Merlot will reach in the coming years. SUPERIORE.DE
"A vibrant, succulent red, boasting black currant, blackberry, rosemary, thyme and bay leaf aromas and flavors. Focused and firmly structured, offset by a supple texture. Shows fine balance and length." Wine Spectator

“Guado al Tasso” Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2018
Elegant and complex: Guado al Tasso with a warmly toned bouquet and a fullness of fruit that is just as convincing as the harmonious structure. Deep dark, rich ruby-violet. Very clear and intense nose, smelling of blackberries, cassis and dark cherries, underpinned by fine, spicy notes with hints of white pepper and cardamom. Very juicy in attack and course, shows a lot of sweet melting, interwoven, tightly meshed tannin, supple and elegant, very long finish. An excellent wine that offers the highest drinking pleasure. SUPERIORE.DE
"Antinori's classic interpretation of Bolgheri's terroir: exudes a scent of plums, maquis and roasted coffee, also subtle leather notes; the tannins vibrant, the finish multi-faceted and a potpourri of fruit and balsamic notes." Vinum
"Sparkling, rich ruby-violet. Opens with notes of tobacco, then ripe plums, lots of elderberry, some liquorice in the background. Full-bodied and present on the palate, opens with rich berry fruit, dense tannin, juicy and rich pressure on the final." Falstaff
"Rich, intense fruit flavors of black currant and black cherry are shaded by vanilla, toasty oak, iron, black olive and tobacco accents in this complex, harmonious red. Fine balance and a lingering finish cap it off." Wine Spectator
"The 2018 Guado al Tasso is silky, delicate and exceptionally polished. I can't remember tasting another Guado like it. Medium in body and gracious, the 2018 offers up a compelling mélange of dark fruit, chocolate, cedar, licorice and dried herbs, all in a mid-weight style that is incredibly appealing. The 2018 has just been bottled, so it needs time to bounce back. I can't wait to taste it with a bit more time in bottle." Vinous
"Lots of redcurrants and flowers on the nose, together with crushed stones. Full-bodied and very layered with beautiful fruit and density, yet it remains agile and light. The tannins are totally integrated. I like the light herbal touch to the red fruit here. Flower petals. Juicy, flavorful finish with citrus zest at the end." James Suckling
"Aromas of dark fruit and freshly milled white pepper replace the more banal cherry-based flavors delivered by the Merlot, and the wine appears more lifted and precise as a result. The Cabernet Sauvignon delivers spice and licorice, and these pretty aromas are likewise given more breathing room, thanks to the counterparts found in the Cabernet Franc. Linearity, sharpness, pencil shavings and dark currant or blackberry-this is the direction Guado al Tasso is taking, and this 2018 vintage opens the door to a new chapter for the wine." Robert Parker
"Guado al Tasso 2018 makes waves. Its nose has a leafy, almost herbal character and is quite different from the past vintages where the fruit was riper. The integration of this leafiness with restrained cassis is outstanding, the palate is silky and the tannins precise and creamy, with brilliant refreshing acidity. On the finish graphite minerality is elongated by the slightly bitter character of the wine. It represents faithfully the vintage and carries great complexity." Decanter

"Elegant bouquet with concise Cabernet spice, a touch of green pepper, dark cherries, cedar, roasted espresso and tobacco. Extremely juicy in the mouth, dark berry throughout, round, without rough edges, with noble, pointed and again polished tannin, spicy, balanced and harmonious. Promises early drinking maturity." Weinwisser
"Smooth and opulent, with black currant, blackberry and plum fruit accented by cedar, vanilla and iron notes. Dense and complex, yet accessible, this is balanced and persistent on the lingering aftertaste. Decant now or wait another year or two." Wine Spectator
"The 2019 Guado al Tasso is a model of total refinement. Deeply pitched spice, mocha and leather nuances meld into a core of plush dark fruit as the 2019 reveals its considerable charms. The aromatics alone are mesmerizing, but the 2019 has so much more to offer. I admire the wine’s balance and allure, both of which it has in spades. Like so many 2019s, Guado al Tasso is a wine more of energy and persistence than volume. Clean, bracing mineral notes linger on the sublime finish." Vinous
"This has a wild and perfumed nose of dried thyme, sage, blackberries, cocoa, graphite and white and green peppercorns. Then dried flowers. Full-bodied with firm, tight and precise tannins. Vibrant. There’s so much character and structure. A new benchmark for this winery." James Suckling

Before it was inherited by the famous Antinori wine-growing family in 1830, the Tenuta Guado al Tasso belonged to the noble family della Gherardesca. It had already begun producing wine in Bolgheri in the second half of the 17th century. It was mainly thanks to Guido Alberto della Gherardesca that decisive changes in viticulture were already introduced on the estate at that time. This magnificent estate of more than a thousand hectares is located in the amphitheatre of Bolgheri. It is surrounded by an idyllic natural landscape of 300 hectares of vineyards, forests, olive groves, Mediterranean flora, sunflowers and cereal fields. On the hills, which are only 45 to 65 metres high, the Mediterranean climate ensures balanced growing conditions throughout the year - an ideal prerequisite for early ripening grape varieties.
No other winery in the Bolgheri region can boast such a high number of vines as Guado al Tasso. Besides the local Sangiovese, the international varieties Merlot, Cabernet and Syrah are cultivated. Petit Verdot and Vermentino are further white variations of the vine portfolio. As a rule, the grape harvest begins at the end of August, about two weeks earlier than in the Tuscan cultivation zones further from the coast.
Thanks to the Antinori family's investments, vineyards and cellars are able to meet the highest demands. At the same time, Piero Antinori, probably the most brilliant and prudent entrepreneur of the Italian wine-growing scene, has significantly strengthened the reputation of the Denomination Bolgheri with his branch. With Renzo Cotarella as general director and oenologist, the prominent owner of the estate also has three very competent daughters at his side. The winery also benefits from a great team of managers, technicians and winemakers who are always committed to ensuring that the Antinori wine dynasty's truly remarkable quality standards are maintained in the future.
The modern style drops of Tenuta Guado al Tasso have an immaculate clear profile throughout and captivate with their perfect fruit ripeness. New wooden barrels are favoured for the maturation of the noble plants in the maturation cellar. For years, the Bolgheri Rosso Superiore Guado al Tasso has been the showpiece of the house's range. This elegant wine is contrasted with the rather simple Bolgheri Rosso Bruciato, which, with its striking wood aroma, is clearly recognisable as a representative of modernity. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Antinori winery can justifiably be described as the most important in Italy. Whether with regard to the quality of their wines, their high worldwide reputation or their perfect distribution structure, this classification does not seem exaggerated."Gambero Rosso
