"The little boar". The name of this red speaks for itself: not a tame animal, not a wine that seeks approval. And yet it is the most approachable red of the house – the family resemblance to its big siblings Monteverro and Terra di Monteverro is clear, the demands are somewhat lighter and the pleasure is immediate. 40% Merlot provides the softness, 25% Cabernet Franc the spice, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon the structure and 10% Syrah the Mediterranean vigour. Clay-limestone with eroded stones, 7,575 vines per hectare in north-south orientation, organic cultivation, hand-picked. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks, exclusively gravity in the cellar – 100% gravity, no pumping, no pressure. 12 months in French barriques and steel tanks.

Poggio Valente comes from a single vineyard of the same name at an altitude of around 300 metres. “ALTROVINO” Rosso Costa Toscana IGP 2022 (BIO)
"A different kind of wine". The name says it all and is, at the same time, a subtle provocation: no Sangiovese, no Cabernet Sauvignon, no Super Tuscan of the familiar sort. Instead, equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Franc, grown on a coastal hilltop in Riparbella overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, on clayey, saline soil with limestone gravel. Elena Celli and Luca D'Attoma founded Duemani in 2000 on a simple conviction: every task in the vineyard is carried out at the right time, by hand. The same philosophy applies in the cellar. Merlot and Cabernet Franc ferment spontaneously, but separately, in concrete tanks with pumping over and 20 days' maceration. Some of the Cabernet Franc is transferred to 500- and Litersterracotta amphorae, where it develops more floral and fruity notes. After blending, both wines are aged in French oak vats for eight months. No fining, no filtration.

The Maremma, a sub-region of Tuscany, is a real gem for wine lovers. It stretches along the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea and was once a wetland area. The territory stretches from Livorno via Follonica and Grosseto to the mountains beyond, where the hills rise up to 600 metres above sea level. It then continues via Scansano and Suvereto to the peninsula of Orbetello and, more recently, to the south-easternmost part of the Maremma near Capalbio. The latter was already called the "Vallis Aurea", or "Golden Valley", in Roman times because the particularly good soil and climate conditions here produced particularly good wines and fruit. Today, this varied landscape is a fertile terrain and a real boom region that produces outstanding wines that are highly sought-after in Italy and abroad.
The DOC areas of the Maremma are: Ansonica Costa dell'Argentario, Bianco di Pitigliano, Maremma Toscana, Montecucco, Monteregio di Massa Marittima, Morellino di Scansano, Parrina, Sovana and Val di Cornia. Some of the highest rated "Supertuscans" such as Monteverro, Redigaffi and Saffredi come from here. The wine-growing history of this region is comparatively young, making its success story all the more remarkable, which has triggered an unprecedented quality revolution in a short space of time.
