"A different kind of wine". The name says it all and is, at the same time, a subtle provocation: no Sangiovese, no Cabernet Sauvignon, no Super Tuscan of the familiar sort. Instead, equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Franc, grown on a coastal hilltop in Riparbella overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, on clayey, saline soil with limestone gravel. Elena Celli and Luca D'Attoma founded Duemani in 2000 on a simple conviction: every task in the vineyard is carried out at the right time, by hand. The same philosophy applies in the cellar. Merlot and Cabernet Franc ferment spontaneously, but separately, in concrete tanks with pumping over and 20 days' maceration. Some of the Cabernet Franc is transferred to 500- and Litersterracotta amphorae, where it develops more floral and fruity notes. After blending, both wines are aged in French oak vats for eight months. No fining, no filtration.

An intense, vibrant ruby red. The bouquet is pleasantly fruity, spicy and balsamic: cherry, blueberry, redcurrant, mint, cedarwood and Mediterranean scrub. On the palate, it is full-bodied and vigorous, characterised by structure and freshness, with a long, mineral final. Another wine that knows exactly what it wants. SUPERIORE.DE

"The Merlot Cabernet Franc Altrovino 2022 is fermented in concrete tanks and aged in a combination of French and Slavonian oak. The wine has a full-bodied, medium-bodied texture and offers dark fruit, spices and earthy notes. The bouquet is characterised by spicy and dark aromas with a hint of forest floor and undergrowth. Winemaker Luca D'Attoma says that this wine often displays a liquorice-like note."
