“Sallier de la Tour” Nero d’Avola Sicilia DOC 2021
The Sallier de la Tour winery has been owned by the Counts Tasca since 2009, making it the fifth winery that complements and characterises the diversity and professionalism of what is probably Sicily's most famous winery. Deep dark red, spices and a fine note of liquorice on the nose. Beautiful classic fruit and freshness on the palate, the discreet use of wood gives it concentration, backbone, velvety elegance and a good future. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark red; intense, discreetly volatile fruit, raspberries, violets, rubber, inviting; juicy, fresh fruit, finely tart, drinky, round and balanced, very pleasing." (JLF) Merum
"In the glass, the Nero d'Avola 2021 is dark and somewhat reductive. It opens with a forest-inspired blend of wild berries and peppery herbs. It is soft and enveloping with ripe red and blue fruits swirling under a hint of violet blossom. It leaves a hint of primary concentration and finishes grippy and long while retaining a lovely inner freshness. This wine has potential, but the 2021 will need cellaring to come into its own." "The Nero d'Avola Lamuri 2020 opens slowly in the glass, dusty and floral with floral undergrowth and smouldering ash stone forming its bouquet. It is soft and pure in style, with mineral-tinged red and black fruits accompanied by a lively acidity. On the finish, tart notes of wild berries and citrus fruits leave a bitter aftertaste." Vinous

A savoury blend of spices, earth and a hint of balsamic vinegar meets more berries. The tannins are strong and chewy, and the acidity is restrained." Wine Enthusiast

“Mozia” Grillo Sicilia DOC 2022
The small, museum-like island of Mozia in the Marsala lagoon is a production site of unrivalled uniqueness. It is a marine ecosystem that has always been linked to the vineyard. The English, who came to Marsala at the beginning of the 19th century and recognised its great potential, initiated the first planting. The vines are cultivated naturally using the Gobelet system with natural irrigation. The grapes are harvested in crates, brought to the mainland in flat-bottomed boats and then transported to the Regaleali winery in air-conditioned lorries to guarantee their aromatic integrity.
Since 2007, when the Tasca family was entrusted by the Whitaker Foundation with the implementation of a project to promote and revitalise historic Grillo vineyards, they have been looking after 12 hectares of vineyards in Mozia. This is where the best Grillo in Sicily comes from, which is unrivalled in terms of concentration and razor-sharp precision.
Pale straw yellow in colour. Tantalising, very refined aromas of nectarine, yellow flowers, lime and mint herbs. Then fresh, juicy and dense, with wonderful clarity and a flavour palate of aromas such as pome fruit and white stone fruit and a lively, harmonious acidity. Its impressive finish is long and mineral. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, light golden yellow in colour. Pronounced nose of apricots, yellow peach, meadow herbs and subtle spice. Smooth on the palate, with a precise fruit centre, fine acidity and a hint of iodine on the finish." Falstaff
"Grapefruit and thyme with a sweet note of lemon curd and a hint of eraser on the nose open up to a palate of mixed citrus and toasted almonds, with a rich mouthfeel balanced by the salty, acidic finish." Wine Enthusiast
"Spicy herbs, fresh lemons, green apples and gooseberries on the nose, medium body and smooth texture. Dry and crisp with a refreshing finish and some herbal notes at the end." James Suckling
"Mozia is sourced from Grillo grown on the small, breezy island of San Pantaleo in the Marsala lagoon, where the soils are sand and limestone. The grapes are picked just before full maturity to retain freshness, and after vinification the wine ages in stainless steel on its lees for around five months. A light lemon scent invites you to take a sip, delivering a fresh, pithy and saline mouthful of bright lemon and orange peel flavours, finishing with a touch of grapefruit." Decanter

A fresh bouquet of spicy yellow flowers, lime zest, nectarines and crushed stones. On the palate, we find an attractive bouquet of ripe orchard fruits, tropical citrus fruits and a cooling minerality. The long and very delicious final is accompanied by kiwi and sage - very successful! SUPERIORE.DE
"White stone fruit, citrus fruit, fresh sage and chalky earth on offer. Fresh and crisp on the palate with juicy acidity and a chalky mineral backbone. Medium-bodied with a refreshing finish." James Suckling
"Tasca's Tenuta Capofaro is situated on the Aeolian Islands off the northeast tip of Sicily. Here, on the island of Vulcano, Malvasia is grown on its loose, sandy volcanic soils. Very soft with good saline, its peachy aroma with green fruit hints is reflected in the mouth, with a pithy character and a long, fresh and juicy finish." Decanter

“Didyme” Malvasia Salina IGT 2022 secco
Didyme, named after the ancient name of the island of Salina, is a pure and intensely flavoured Malvasia. Pale straw yellow in colour. Bouquet of herbs, light-coloured flowers, apple and a hint of nutmeg. Juicy fruit, carried by a beautiful, fresh acidity, with a mineral, salty note on the powerful finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright straw yellow with delicate greenish reflections. Very fragrant and clear nose of white rose petal, banana, light-coloured honey and apricots, nutmeg. Fruity and clear on the palate, with a pronounced centre coated in crisp acidity, salty at the back, fun!" Falstaff
"The Malvasia Didyme 2022 captivates with a bouquet reminiscent of fresh sea air, with aromas of spring flowers and ripe nectarines. It is silky and smooth with ripe fruit that is skilfully contrasted by a lively acidity and a zesty citrus core. Salty minerals provide a crisp final, while the 2022 rejuvenates with tropical flair, allowing kiwi and candied lime to slowly fade away. Didyme, a grape variety of Malvasia delle Lipari, is an absolute taste sensation." Vinous
"The Didyme from the Aeolian island of Salina is incredibly savoury and full of fresh stone fruit. Notes of citrus peel, yellow plums and green fruits lead to a long and very fresh finish." Decanter
"Initially floral and citrusy on the nose, with orange blossom and jasmine, then salty with oyster shells, with the saltiness becoming the defining feature of the palate and rising to the top with the help of more citrus and plenty of acidity. This is a wonderfully balanced expression of this aromatic grape variety." Wine Enthusiast

“Ghiaia Nera” Rosso Etna DOC 2021
Ghiaia, a pure Nerello Mascalese from the slopes of Mount Etna, exudes sweet aromas of cherries and flowers. A refined, very detailed and seductive wine with great charm, character and personality. SUPERIORE.DE
"Medium-light red colour; reductive red-fruity, appealing; powerful, deep fruit, subtly tart tannin, long." Merum
"Attractive bouquet of chestnuts, violets and crisp strawberries, fresh and crisp with attractive acidity and a savoury finish." Decanter
"Sweet berries and orange peel with undertones of peach and lemon blossom. Medium-bodied, with crisp fruit and a fresh and slightly chewy finish. Delicious wine, now showing volcanic character with ashy and smoky undertones." James Suckling
"The 2021 Etna Rosso Ghiaia Nera is intense, smoky and ashy, opening with a burst of crushed strawberries complicated by hints of blood orange and clove. This is a model of purity, with zesty red berry fruits and a core of salty minerality that comes forward toward the close. Brisk acidity maintains fantastic balance. A web of fine tannins lingers long, creating a classically dry sensation and youthful tension as sour cherry tones taper." Vinous

“Mozia” Grillo Sicilia DOC 2023
On the palate, it is fresh, juicy and dense, with a wonderful clarity and flavours of pome fruit and white stone fruit, accompanied by a lively and harmonious acidity. Its impressive finish is long and mineral. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2023 Grillo Mozia is youthfully coy yet bursting at the seams, revealing a delicate blend of chamomile, green melon and hints of candied lime. This blends savory and sweet, with ripe orchard fruits and silky textures offset by a stream of zesty acidity. Sweet herbal tones emerge toward the close. This tapers off with tremendous length and a salty tinge, leaving a green citrus resonance to gradually recede. The Mozia hails from albarello-trained vines growing in sandy soils, at and slightly below sea level. This is one of the most characterful Grillos produced in Italy today." Vinous

“Nozze d’Oro” Bianco Sicilia DOC 2021
In 1984, Count Giuseppe Tasca d'Almerita wanted to celebrate his golden wedding anniversary with his wife Franca by creating a wine that told the family story and the history of the Tenuta at the same time. The uniqueness of the grape composition shows his romantic spirit: Inzolia and Sauvignon from the Tasca selection, the selection of a vineyard in Regaleali that dates back to the end of the First World War. The use of selected yeasts from the estate's own vineyards links this wine even more inextricably with the terroir from which it comes. Fresh in its youth, the wine has an unexpected ageing potential and balances its tertiary aromas with the intensity of the fruit.
Rich straw yellow in colour with a hauntingfloral bouquet and notes of peach, exotic fruit and saffron. Then the harmonious flavour, whose wonderful substance is carried by a perfect acidity with a fine saline vein. SUPERIORE.DE
"Pungently floral, the 2021 Nozze d'Oro burst from the glass with a blend of lemony custard and wild herbs, complemented by sweet smoke and hints of mint. It’s beautifully balanced, with silken textures and opulently ripe orchard fruits carried across a stream of brisk acidity. Saline minerals add a more tactile feel toward the close. This tapers off with a tropical air of florals and sour citrus tones—long, potent and staining yet remarkably fresh." Vinous

![Tasca d'Almerita](https://www.superiore.de/out/pictures/generated/category/thumb/338_338_100/sizilien-tascadalmerita.jpg)
The historical development of Sicily as an important wine region is inseparably linked to Tasca d'Almerita. For many years, the wines of the Tasca noble family, founded in the first half of the 19th century in the heart of the island, almost 90 kilometres southeast of Palermo in the tiny municipality of Sclafani Bagni, have been among the great classics. Viticulture on the island has not only been decisively shaped by the famous and tradition-conscious wine dynasty, but has also been advanced with great foresight. The wines from the magnificent Regaleali winery, through whose gardens the composer and dramatist Richard Wagner already strolled, are simply magnificent. The wines of Tasca d'Almerita, exported to four continents, can undoubtedly compete with other prominent names on the domestic and international wine scene.
Named Winery of the Year 2012 by the Gambero Rosso, the company, which has almost 500 hectares of vines, is now run by the ninth generation of Giuseppe and Alberto Tasca d'Almerita, who, like their father Lucio Tasca d'Almerita, who died in 2022, work with great flair and energy. It was thanks to marketing director Ignazio Miceli that the wines of the island's most beautiful winery became known worldwide. The magnificent Rosso del Conte, for example, set new standards for Sicilian red wines when it was introduced in 1970. The top wine was also one of the first drops from the island of leopards to conquer the American market. The synergies between the Tasca family, Miceli and the Palermo-born founder and chairman of the US importer Winebow Group, Leonardo LoCascio, led to Sicily's top wines shining brightly beyond the country's borders.
In addition to its headquarters, Tenuta di Regaleali, Azienda Tasca d'Almerita, which cooperates with a number of other Sicilian wineries, has four other production sites: Tascante (Etna region), Whitaker (joint venture on the west coast), Sallier de La Tour (northwest) and Capofaro (Aeolian island of Salina). Always distinguished by good ideas and careful research work and advised by the prominent OenologistCarlo Ferrini, the wine house even deserves credit for making some great wines from Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, which convincingly reflect the typical character of Sicily, in addition to growths from autochthonous grape varieties. The family, which since the turn of the millennium has given more preference to local varieties than before with the arrival of the winemaker from Tuscany, had made the first clone selections in its vineyards and had already planted international varieties before any other wineries on the island.
The noble family, deeply rooted in Sicily, stands out from the crowd of the many Etna wineries not only with its outstanding wines, but also with its environmental projects such as SOStain and VIVA, which are committed to a more sustainable wine industry. For their pioneering spirit, Tasca d'Almerita was even awarded "European Winery of the Year" in 2019 by Wine Enthusiast magazine. This is actually the first Sicilian winery ever to receive such a prestigious award from an international trade magazine.
The Tasca d'Almerita winery is one of the 24 wineries worldwide to be awarded the "Robert Parker Green Emblem" in 2021. This certification is awarded by one of the most important international wine critics' media: Robert Parker's "Wine Advocate". This rare distinction is only awarded to producers who are committed to sustainability, long-term environmental protection and biodiversity. Once a winery has received the award, all of its wines will bear the coveted "Robert Parker Green Emblem". SUPERIORE.DE
"The only estate on the island, the house of the Counts Tasca deserves to be compared to a great Bordeaux château ... Remarkable the average quality of the label spectrum." Gambero Rosso
"Alberto Tasca d'Almerita created SOStain and is president of the foundation today with other like-minded Sicilian vintners who serve on the board of directors. Alberto was one of the first Italian producers to embrace the VIVA Sustainable Wine project developed by the Italian Ministry for the Environment and Protection of Land and Sea to promote better winegrowing practices." Robert Parker
