“Sallier de la Tour” Nero d’Avola Sicilia DOC 2021
The Sallier de la Tour winery has been owned by the Counts Tasca since 2009 and is thus the fifth winery to complement and make up the diversity and professionalism of probably the most famous winery in Sicily. Deep dark red, spices and a fine liquorice note on the nose. Beautiful classic fruit and freshness on the palate, the discreet use of wood gives it concentration, backbone, velvety elegance and a good future. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark and bit reductive in the glass, the 2021 Nero d'Avola opens with a woodland-inspired blend of wild berries and peppery herbs. It's soft and enveloping with ripe red and blue fruit that swirl beneath an air of inner violet florals. This leaves a staining of primary concentration, finishing grippy and long while maintaining a lovely inner freshness. There's potential here, but the 2021 will require cellaring to come fully into focus." Vinous

“Nozze d’Oro” Bianco Sicilia DOC 2020
In 1984, Count Giuseppe Tasca d'Almerita wanted to celebrate the golden wedding anniversary with his wife Franca by creating a wine that told the family story and at the same time the story of the Tenuta. The uniqueness of the grape composition shows his romantic spirit: Inzolia and Sauvignon of the Tasca selection, the selection of a vineyard in Regaleali that dates back to the end of the First World War. The use of selected yeasts from the estate's own vineyards links this wine even more inextricably to the terroir from which it comes. Fresh in its youth, the wine is unexpectedly age-worthy, balancing its tertiary aromas with the intensity of the fruit.
Rich straw yellow with a hauntingfloral bouquet, plus notes of peach, exotic fruits and saffron. Then the harmonious taste, whose delightful substance is carried by a perfect acidity with a fine saline vein. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2020 Nozze d'Oro wafts up with a rich blend of dried apricot and peach complemented by almond paste aromas. It splashes across the palate with a mineral-tinged blend of tart orchard fruits and citrus tones as soft ginger adds contrast toward the close. The 2020 leaves a youthful tension through the finish, tapering off long yet fresh with delicate candied lime notes that slowly fade." Vinous
"It has aromas of peach blossom, lemon curd, white apricot and fennel. It is medium to full-bodied with a creamy, slightly waxy texture. Fresh citrus and herbal character, but also ripe and dense." James Suckling
"The 2020 Sicilia Nozze d'Oro is a historic wine that is not aged in oak barrels but briefly on the lees. The wine shows soft aromas of orchard fruits, sweet lemon and caraway. The Nozze d'Oro always has more verve and texture compared to the standard Sicilian white wine." Wine Advocate

“Mozia” Grillo Sicilia DOC 2022
The small, museum-like island of Mozia in the Marsala lagoon is a production site of unparalleled uniqueness. It is a marine ecosystem that has always been linked to the vineyard. The English, who came to Marsala at the beginning of the 19th century and sensed the great potential there, initiated the first planting. The vines are raised naturally according to the Gobelet system with natural irrigation. The grapes are harvested in crates, brought to the mainland in shallow boats and then reach the Regaleali winery in air-conditioned trucks to guarantee their aromatic integrity.
Since 2007, when the Tasca family was entrusted by the Whitaker Foundation with the implementation of a project to promote and revitalise historic Grillo vineyards, they have been taking care of 12 hectares of vines on Mozia. From here comes arguably the best Grillo in Sicily, unparalleled in concentration and razor-sharp precision.
Light straw yellow. Enticing, very refined aromas of nectarine, yellow flowers, lime and mint herbs. Then fresh, juicy and dense, with wonderful clarity and the flavour of aromas such as pome fruit and white stone fruit and a lively, harmonious acidity. Its impressive finish is long and mineral. “Capofaro” Bianco Salina IGT 2019 dolce · 0,5l in gift box
The harvested Malvasia grapes stay for a few weeks under good ventilation in shady drying chambers. Without humidity and hot sun, the grapes dry slowly and thus retain their acidity and very moderate alcohol levels. Capofaro is an impressive dessert wine that comes from vines that once belonged to the late winemaker Carlo Hauner, who made Malvasia from the island of Salina famous.
Bright golden yellow. A warm bouquet of orange blossom, candied orange peel and flowers underpinned by bright, salty notes. Very tightly packed and tightly wound, it displays a lush mouthfeel and an enticing sweetness that is nicely offset by a penetrating acidity. The finish is creamy and long, with notes of botrytis and reminiscent of tropical fruit nectar. SUPERIORE.DE
"Medium dense bright golden yellow with lemon yellow accents. Opens on the nose to delicate spruce shoots, blossom honey and nutmeg, also discreetly of dried mango. Lively on the palate, showing nice tension with crisp acidity, subtle spice notes paired with exotic fruit, very layered, comes back juicy on the final." Falstaff
"The finely chiselled bouquet of the steel-aged Passito combines notes of dried apricots with peach and citrus fruit aromas, delicately spicy; polished in the mouth, perfectly balanced between the acidity and the sweetness, elegant and long. A pleasure with pasticceria or on its own." Vinum
"Crisp, dry and thoroughly delicious, this fragrant white from the island of Salina opens with heady scents of yellow stone fruit, citrus, white rose and Mediterranean brush. Tangy and vibrant, the savory palate doles out yellow peach, apricot, Meyer lemon and briny notes of saline." Wine Enthusiast
"This is always such a fun and cheerful wine to enjoy at the end of an outdoor meal with an evening seascape somewhere in the distance. The Tenuta Capofaro 2019 Tenuta Capofaro (in a 500-milliliter bottle) is made with air-dried fruit (the appassimento process takes place on the island of Salina in a special fruttaio room for air-drying with controlled temperatures, but the Tasca team makes this wine at their home-base winery on Sicily; for that reason, this wine is identified with the IGT Salina appellation). As you might expect, winemaking is impeccable, and the aromas are clear and concise with fresh peach, minty apple and Sicilian night-blooming jasmine. The wine is full and elegant but graceful all the while with a crisp and polished mouthfeel." Wine Advocate

“Contrada Pianodario” Rosso Etna DOC 2016
Tasca was involved in Etna at an early stage and the latest result of this many years of experience are four new single vineyard wines from the Tascante winery: Contrada Rampante, Pianodario, Sciaranuova and Sciaranuova Vigna Vecchia (V.V.). The wines are filigree and profound, and despite their strength, acidity and tight tannin very elegant, rich in finesse and light-footed on the palate. Each of the four plots brings a slightly different style and personality to the wine due to the altitude, soil and morphology of the historical lava flows. A high annual rainfall secures all water reserves for the soil, and the temperature fluctuations between day and night support the variety of aromas of the grapes and ultimately the ripening potential.
The Pianodario plot is situated at an average altitude of 775 metres above sea level between the hamlet of Montelaguardia and Randazzo. It covers an area of about 8 hectares of vineyards. The soils are of volcanic origin and up to 40,000 years old. SUPERIORE.DE
"One of three new single-vineyard wines introduced by Tasca's Tascante, the 2016 Etna Rosso Contrada Pianodario comes from the western-most parcel located between Montelaguardia and Randazzo. These are relatively new vines, planted in 2010, in soils representing various lava flows, the oldest in 1646 and the newest in 1981. This is a bright and accessible wine with pretty tones of wild berry and dried pomegranate followed by candied orange and pressed violets. It will no doubt be exciting to follow this wine as those vines get, proverbially speaking, older and wiser. Some 5,000 bottles were made." Wine Advocate

“Contrada Sciaranuova” Rosso Etna DOC 2016
Tasca got involved in Etna early on and the latest result of these years of experience are four new single vineyard wines from the Tascante estate: Contrada Rampante, Pianodario, Sciaranuova and Sciaranuova Vigna Vecchia (V.V.). The wines are delicate and profound, and despite their power, acidity and taut tannin, very elegant, finesse-rich and light-footed on the palate. Each of the four plots brings a slightly different style and personality to the wine - due to the altitude, soil composition and morphology of the historic lava flows. A high annual rainfall ensures that the soil has all the water it needs, and the temperature fluctuations between day and night support the aromatic diversity of the grapes and ultimately the ripening potential.
The Sciaranuova parcel is situated at an average altitude of 730 metres above sea level between the villages of Montelaguardia and Passopisciaro. It covers an area of about 4.9 hectares of vineyards. The soils are of volcanic origin and up to 40,000 years old. SUPERIORE.DE
"Just mid ruby and the most youthful looking of the four single-contrade wines of this vintage. Quite deep red-fruit nose with hints of bacon and a note of oak. This is the one that is the most obviously oaked. Wonderful succulent fruit with a bit of oak that supports rather than distracts. Serious grainy tannins and a little demanding and still a little rough, but extremely fine-perfumed fruit finish." Jancis Robinson
"Good full red. Deep musky, ripe red cherry and strawberry aromas are characterized by a mineral undertone. Then also mineral on entry, but turns just slightly tough in the middle and on the long back end that features similar flavors to the aromas. There's good sweetness here, and the stony nuances add further lightness of being to what is essentially a medium-bodied, easygoing red wine." Vinous
"Lovely nose of wild berry, autumn leaves and tar noted aroma. Crunchy red berry texture, grippy with soft woody notes." Decanter
"The 2016 Etna Rosso Contrada Sciaranuova is made with fruit from vines planted in 2008 at 730 meters above sea level. This is a classic expression from Etna with an even dose of wild berry, rose, mineral and spice. This wine shows an attractive level of balance and harmony, and I am especially attracted to those distinctive volcanic or mineral tones that frame this delicate, almost fragile wine. This Etna Rosso is mostly aged in large Slavonian oak casks, but a small part goes into 300-liter tonneaux. This adds a bit more volume and girth to the finish. Production is 5,000 bottles." “Vigna San Francesco” Chardonnay Sicilia DOC 2019
Intense golden yellow, on the nose notes of banana, pineapple, candied fruits and a hint of vanilla, cinnamon and white chocolate. Fruity on the palate, very rich and dense with a balanced acidity structure, tones of ripe fruit in the finish. A wonderful Sicilian Chardonnay that perfectly combines the refinement of the international grape variety with the charm of the Mediterranean climate. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2019 Chardonnay Vigna San Francesco is luxuriously rich while painting within the lines of refinement, as gingery spice, crushed oyster shells, Italian buttercream and citrus-tinged pear form its seductive bouquet. This communicates a sense of opulence, but also harmony on the palate, casting silky, medium-weight textures across the senses, with mineral-tinged orchard fruits and pretty inner florals that cascade throughout. There’s a sweet and sour interplay that lingers through the finale, as zesty green citrus and hints of Granny Smith apple slowly fade. There is simply so much pleasure to be had from this immaculately balanced Sicilian Chardonnay." Vinous

“Vigna S. Francesco” Cabernet Sauvignon Sicilia DOC 2018
A wonderfully concentrated and elegant wine that is already drinking excellently. On the nose, the typical varietal bouquet with light balsamic notes. Pleasantly straight and fine on the palate, silky and full of harmony. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, elegant ruby red. In the nose precise of elderberries and cassis, noble note of green pepper and a hint of ivy, in the reverberation of cranberry jam and noble spice, multilayered. Balanced on the palate, with great play between fruit, spice and tannin, also very juicy, on anise in the finish, long and complex, very well done." Falstaff
"The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Vigna San Francesco is dusty and floral in character, with peppery herbs and wildflowers giving way to masses of crushed raspberry. This is silky and refined, communicating pure elegance from the start, with a wave of ripe red and black berries that wash across the palate, leaving fine-grained tannins to linger under an air of sweet violet and rose tones. It tapers off much fresher than anticipated, and also only lightly structured, as nuances of blueberry skin linger, along with a hint of balsam herbs." Vinous

“Contrada Rampante” Rosso Etna DOC 2019

The Contrada Rampante parcel is situated at an average altitude of 740 metres above sea level between Solicchiata and Passopisciaro. It covers an area of just 4.6 hectares of vineyards. The soils are of volcanic origin and up to 15,000 years old. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2019 Etna Rosso Contrada Rampante is remarkably pretty, wafting up from the glass with dusty rose and cherry complicated by ashen stone. It soothes with its silky textures and ripe red berry fruits. Vibrant acidity maintains a lovely energy throughout. Fine tannins linger, flexing its youthful structure as the 2019 finishes potent yet fresh and wonderfully perfumed. This is a beautiful interpretation of Rampante fruit." Vinous
"Aromas of ash, baked strawberry and roasted herbs. Medium to full-bodied with silky tannins. Mineral, with some spicy herbal character, but it remains pleasantly red-fruited throughout. Very complex and balanced." James Suckling
"The Tenuta Tascante 2019 Etna Rosso Contrada Rampante takes a little longer to open up aromatically compared to some of the other wines in this impressive series from Etna. This initial shyness quickly melts away as the wine takes on more air and intensity in the glass. It shows aromas of wild cherry, rosemary or Mediterranean herbs and pressed violet. You get a good impression of the incredibly fine and articulate nature of Nerello Mascalese, especially when the grape is handled with a restrained winemaking style. There is a salty or mineral note on the finish." Wine Advocate

The historical development of Sicily as an important wine region is inseparable from Tasca d'Almerita connected. For many years, the wines of the Tasca family vineyard, founded in the first half of the 19th century in the heart of the island, just 90 kilometres southeast of Palermo in the tiny municipality of Sclafani Bagni, have been among the great classics. Winegrowing on the island has not only been decisively influenced by the famous and tradition-conscious wine dynasty, but has also been advanced with great foresight. The crescences of the magnificent Regaleali winery, through whose gardens the composer and playwright Richard Wagner already walked, are simply magnificent. The drops exported to four continents from the house of Tasca d'Almerita can undoubtedly compete with other prominent names on the domestic and international wine scene.
Named Winery of the Year 2012 by the Gambero Rosso, the company, which has almost 500 hectares of vines, is now run by the ninth generation of Giuseppe and Alberto Tasca d'Almerita, who, like their father Lucio Tasca d'Almerita, who died in 2022, work with great intuition and energy. It was thanks to Ignazio Miceli, Head of Marketing, that the wines of the most beautiful winery on the island became famous all over the world. For example, the magnificent Rosso del Conte, introduced in 1970, has set new standards for Sicilian red wines. This top-quality wine was also one of the first wines from the Leopard Island to conquer the American market. The synergies between the Tasca family, Miceli and the Palermo-born founder and chairman of the US importer Winebow Group, Leonardo LoCascio, led to Sicily's top crops shining brightly beyond the country's borders.
In addition to its headquarters, the Tenuta di Regaleali, the Azienda Tasca d'Almerita with the goods Tascante (Etna region), Whitaker (joint venture on the west coast), Sallier de La Tour (northwest) and Capofaro (Aeolian island of Salina) via four further production sites. The wine house, always characterised by good ideas and careful research, and advised by the prominent oenologist Carlo Ferrini, deserves the credit for producing not only autochthonous grape varieties but also some great Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay wines, which convincingly reflect the typical character of Sicily. The family, which since the turn of the millennium, with the arrival of the winemaker from Tuscany, had preferred local varieties more than ever, had made the first clone selections in their vineyards and had already planted international varieties before all the other winegrowing companies on the island. "The only property on the island that deserves to be compared to a large Bordeaux château is the house of Count Tasca ... The average quality of the range of labels is remarkable."Gambero Rosso
The Tasca d'Almerita winery is one of the 24 wineries worldwide to be awarded the "Robert Parker Green Emblem" in 2021. This certification is awarded by one of the most important international wine critics' media: Robert Parker's "Wine Advocate".
This rare distinction is only awarded to producers who are committed to sustainability, long-term environmental protection and biodiversity. Once a winery has received the award, all of its wines will bear the coveted "Robert Parker Green Emblem". SUPERIORE.DE
"Alberto Tasca d'Almerita created SOStain and is president of the foundation today with other like-minded Sicilian vintners who serve on the board of directors. Alberto was one of the first Italian producers to embrace the VIVA Sustainable Wine project developed by the Italian Ministry for the Environment and Protection of Land and Sea to promote better winegrowing practices."
