Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2018

A solid and every year excellent drop is the Nobile by Poliziano, which smells of dark red cherries, blackberries and toasted notes. Compact and polished on the palate, soft and balanced with silky tannins and a long, elegant finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright ruby red. In the nose of wild berries, sour cherries and a hint of violets. Very juicy on the palate, with clear fruit and pithy tannin, tension-filled, gentle pressure, minimal drying on the final." Falstaff

"Made since 1968, Poliziano's stalwart Vino Nobile is oak-smoothed and chocolatey, with ageing in a combination of French barriques, tonneaux and larger casks. Sweet wood spice and vanilla lead but make room for liquorice and blackberry. It's full and rich with some Merlot plumpness, and chewy wood tannins and bright acidity underneath. It all works - just give it another year to knit together." Decanter

"All charm, the 2018 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is an attractive wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. Dark cherry fruit, licorice, menthol, pine, tobacco and cedar add pretty aromatic nuances. This easygoing, mid-weight Vino Nobile has plenty to offer." Vinous

Within its dense, intense hue lies a lush bouquet whose fruity allusions to blackberries, sour cherries and blueberries are given an elegant touch by the delicate, very subtle wood spice. In the rich, firm palate, the smooth tannin is well blended with the structure. SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright ruby red. Noble, inviting nose, of ripe forest fruits and rich cherries, carried by a gentle spicy tone, reverberating of light leather and tea, complex. On the palate juicy, clear and with tight tannin, salty undertone, pulls clear and long over the tongue, with persistence." Falstaff

"There's richness and depth to this red, whose cherry, plum and mineral flavors are framed in light, toasty oak. Refined and open-knit, with a firm, lingering, savory aftertaste." Wine Spectator

"The 2018 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Asinone shows the more delicate side of this cru. Crushed rose petal, red cherry, mint, leather and dried herbs are all very nicely lifted. Gracious and silky on the palate, with superb balance, the 2018 Asinone is a winner from Poliziano. Readers will find a Vino Nobile that decidedly favors elegance over heft." Vinous

Poliziano is a detailed-minded estate that is one of the founding fathers of modern Vino Nobile. This forward-looking producer has produced a versatile wine from a hot vintage to pair with pasta or easy meat dishes." Robert Parker

"Lots of plums on the nose with some flowers. Black cherries and dried flowers, too. Full-bodied with chewy, juicy tannins and a flavorful finish. Deep and rich, yet there's a fresh form to it. Give it a year or two to soften. Better after 2022." James Suckling

"This is sleek and well-defined, offering black cherry, blackberry, tar, iron and tobacco flavors shaped by vivid acidity. The tannins are dense, yet overall this is balanced, lingering on the complex, spicy finish." Wine Spectator

"The 2017 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is rich, deep and full of character. There's not a ton of subtlety here, but to be honest, I don't think that really matters. The 2017 is incredibly delicious and inviting. Black cherry, mocha, leather and cinnamon infuse this voluptuous, racy Vino Nobile with tons of character." Vinous

    • "In Violas" Merlot Cortona DOC 2016
MAGNUM in OWC

“In Violas” Merlot Cortona DOC 2016 · MAGNUM in OWC

The DOC Cortona, which has existed since 1999, is famous for its single-varietal Syrahs and Merlots, whose vines thrive excellently on the Pliocene clayey soils. Since 2006, the Carletti family has also been involved in this appellation, which was quite unknown until today, and their Merlot Il Violas is now known beyond the borders of Italy and has many lovers.

Dense, dark ruby with violet reflections. On the nose, an open-hearted bouquet of black berry fruits, sandalwood, rosemary and with fine spice. The texture coats the palate, warm, intense and rich of dark fruits, chocolate, plum and redcurrant. In Violas is a generous and deep red that just calls out for a Bistecca Fiorentina and gives much pleasure. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2016 In Violas is a bold, savory wine. Dried cherry, leather scorched earth, licorice and lavender add savory overtones to this firm, brooding Merlot." Vinous

"Black olives and berries on the nose and palate. Full body. Round and juicy with a flavorful finish. Shows focus and beauty." James Suckling

"The Poliziano 2016 Cortona Merlot in Violas pours from the bottle with a dark and thickly concentrated appearance. The wine opens to rich fruit, plum, blackberry, rosemary essence and a touch of dried mint. The tannins show some fine texture or graininess on the close, but the richness of the mouthfeel washes smoothly over any rough edges. This wine has the depth and width to pair with a succulent steak in cream and pepper sauce." Robert Parker

    • "Le Caggiole" Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2016

“Le Caggiole” Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2016

The first Caggiole was launched in 1988 and disappeared again as early as 1995 because the flagship Asinone simply met consumers' tastes better. Today - after more than 20 years of abstinence - the Nobile Le Caggiole is back on the market as the new first wine of the house.

It is salty, mineral and refined. It represents the terroir and the Sangiovese grape variety (Prugnolo Gentile) like no other wine of the house. It is almost light-footed, svelte, delicate and at the same time very fine. It is the result of many years of work with the selection of the right Sangiovese clones in the single vineyard of the same name, Le Caggiole, which consists of 4 plots.

Estate owner Dott. Federico Carletti has dedicated this masterpiece to his wife Anna - setting a new benchmark for Poliziano and the entire denomination. We are very pleased to present this strictly limited top wine! SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright ruby red. Clear and expressive on the nose, of rich cherries, liquorice, icing sugar and finest spice. Shows itself extremely supple and polished on the palate, spreads velvety over the tongue, with a clear fruit core, long and full of finesse in the final." Falstaff

"Made entirely with Sangiovese, this has aromas of mature black-skinned fruit, exotic spice, camphor and whiffs of French oak. Firmly structured but elegant, the linear palate delivers Marasca cherry, red plum, espresso and licorice framed in tightly knit, fine-grained tannins. Bright acidity keeps it fresh and balanced." Wine Enthusiast

"The Poliziano 2016 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Le Caggiole opens to a dark and sultry appearance, showing a rich and elegant side of the Sangiovese grape. There is a snappy or tart element to the fruit with sour cherry and black plum; however, the wine does not lack for ripeness. There is depth and rich concentration here, giving this wine a step up when it comes to a possible steak or meat roast dinner. The tannins (both the fruit and the oak tannins) are astringent, so give the wine a few more months of bottle aging." Robert Parker

"Poliziano's 2016 Vino Nobile Le Caggiole is beautifully done. Freshly cut flowers, red berries, mint, cedar and tobacco are all laced together in a pretty, translucent Vino Nobile that is all class. The Caggiole deftly marries power with restraint. There is a lot going on, but the 2016 is not at all an obvious wine. This is a gorgeous and very refined expression of Vino Nobile." Vinous

    • "Asinone" Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2018
MAGNUM in OWC

“Asinone” Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2018 · MAGNUM in OWC

"Dark-cherry aromas with nutmeg and flowers follow through to a full body with firm, linear tannins that are polished and beautiful at the end. Succulent and attractive now, but will age nicely." James Suckling

    • "Le Caggiole" Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2016
MAGNUM in OWC

“Le Caggiole” Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2016 · MAGNUM in OWC

“Le Stanze” Rosso Toscana IGT 2017 · 6 Bottles in OWC

Classic Super Tuscan made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, matured in French oak. In its very dense violet red, clear fruity notes and a highly enticing hint of candied lemons inspire. The taste is very harmonious, rich and powerful, the tannins perfectly integrated, the final beautifully persistent. SUPERIORE.DE

"Deep, rich garnet red. Rich and profound nose of perfectly ripe cassis, then elderberry and blackberry, noble spice. Warm and robust on the palate, opens with grippy tannin, clear dark fruit accompanies in the drink, slight broadness on the final." Falstaff

"A perfumed nose of blackberries, plums, mushrooms, dried violets and cloves with earthy undertones. Full-bodied with chewy tannins. Structured, with a fleshy texture. Long, savory finish." James Suckling

"The 2017 Le Stanze del Poliziano is absolutely gorgeous. Black cherry, plum, coffee, dried herbs, spice and new leather all build in the glass. The 2017 balances the character of the French varieties with a distinctly Tuscan acid and structural profile, a combination that works so well. The result is an utterly beguiling, delicious red that can be enjoyed now and over the next decade." Vinous

    About the winemakersPolizianoTuscany | Montepulciano
    Poliziano

Montepulciano, Pienza, Cortona - these small towns comprehensively describe the terrain on which this West Tuscan symbolic enterprise operates. The labels of the Poliziano winery, located below Montepulciano near Gracciano, have never disappointed wine lovers. This is why the farm, founded by Dino Carletti at the beginning of the sixties mainly out of love for his land, has long since conquered a firm place in Italy's highest wine league. Since the beginning of the 1980s, Federico Carletti has run the estate, built in modern architecture, with a dedication that already distinguished his father. The owner is considered a wine enthusiast who strives for perfection and is bursting with energy. These personal characteristics also explain why Federico appointed none other than Carlo Ferrini as production manager in the estate and that he has been very successfully leading the Consorzio del Vino Nobile as president for years. In addition to the Azienda Agricola Poliziano, Carletti also owns Lohsa, a winery in the Maremma.

After successfully completing his studies in agricultural science at the University of Florence, the "dottors" first in other companies first experiences, sooner he dared to initiate a dynamic quality offensive in his father's company. Federico invested a lot of money in the old vineyards, which were already in use in the 1940s, to replant them and expand the areas under cultivation. He also researched other ways to improve the quality of yields. The perfect equipment of the spacious and functionally equipped cellar today includes conical cooking stands made of stainless steel as well as clearly arranged small wooden barrels.

The effort invested in the vineyard and the cellar has paid off. The Vino Nobile, kept in a modern style but still respectful of the tradition of the terroir, proves every year its constant high charisma. Therefore wine critics praise the complex, beautifully structured plants again and again in highest tones. For example, the wine guide Gambero Rossofor the fine wines of Poliziano has already awarded well over twenty three-glass sets. The showpiece of the winery is the Nobile Asinone. The grapes of the fabulous drop named after a vineyard grow under optimal conditions. But also the other labels of the house - such as Rosso, Nobile or Le Stanze - are trustworthy. Vin Santo is also of excellent quality, and its elegance makes it one of the best of its type in the Montepulciano area. SUPERIORE.DE

"Federico Carletti never rested on his laurels - even when there seemed to be little left to improve."Gambero Rosso

New York 2008: "Italian oenologist Carlo Ferrini was named Winemaker of the Year by the American magazine Wine Enthusiastat the seventh Winestar Awards ceremony. The wine expert from Tuscany is responsible for a whole range of Italian flagship wines such as Marchesi Mazzei (Chianti Classico); Casanova di Neri (Brunello); Poliziano (Vino Nobile); Donnafugata and Tasca D'Almerita (Sicily)." best-of-wine.com
