    • Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2017

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2017

A solid and every year excellent drop is the Nobile of Poliziano, which smells of dark red cherries, blackberries and toasted notes. Compact and polished on the palate, soft and balanced with silky tannins and a long, elegant finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2017 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano offers ripe cherry and blackberry fruit with a long and fleshed out mouthfeel. Poliziano is a detailed-minded estate that is one of the founding fathers of modern Vino Nobile. This forward-looking producer has produced a versatile wine from a hot vintage to pair with pasta or easy meat dishes." Robert Parker

"Lots of plums on the nose with some flowers. Black cherries and dried flowers, too. Full-bodied with chewy, juicy tannins and a flavorful finish. Deep and rich, yet there’s a fresh form to it. Give it a year or two to soften. Better after 2022." James Suckling

"This is sleek and well-defined, offering black cherry, blackberry, tar, iron and tobacco flavors shaped by vivid acidity. The tannins are dense, yet overall this is balanced, lingering on the complex, spicy finish." Wine Spectator

    • "Asinone" Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2017

“Asinone” Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2017

Within its dense, intense hue lies a lush bouquet whose fruity hints of blackberries, sour cherries and blueberries are given an elegant touch by the delicate, very subtle wood spice. In the rich, firm palate, the smooth tannin is well blended with the structure. SUPERIORE.DE

"Featuring black cherry, black currant, tar and iron flavors, this vibrant, fruity style is dense and balanced, with a long, mouthwatering finish." Wine Spectator

"This hot-vintage expression shows soft, velvety and dark fruit with plenty of cherry and blackberry. Asinone was conceived as a modern and contemporary expression of Vino Nobile, and it remains that today. Like many of its peers, I found the tannins to be less integrated in 2017, and I would recommend a hearty meat pairing to counter some of that astringency." Robert Parker

"A generous, beautiful Vino Nobile with cherry, walnut and chocolate character. Firm, lightly chewy tannins give this wine form and verve. It’s long and lively with beautiful firmness and polish. Drinkable now, but better in 2022." James Suckling

    • "Le Caggiole" Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2016

“Le Caggiole” Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2016

In 1988, the first Caggiole was launched on the market, and as early as in 1995, it disappeared again, because at that time the flagship Asinone simply met the consumers' taste better. Today - after more than 20 years of abstinence - the Nobile Le Caggiole is again on the market as the new first wine of the house.

It is salty, mineral and refined. It represents the terroir and the grape variety Sangiovese (Prugnolo Gentile) like no other wine of the house. It is light on its feet, svelte, delicate and very refined. It is the result of many years of work with the selection of the right Sangiovese clones in the homonymous single vineyard Le Caggiole, which consists of 4 plots.

Estate owner Dott. Federico Carletti has dedicated this masterpiece to his wife Anna - setting a new standard for Poliziano and the entire denomination. We are very happy to present this strictly limited top wine! SUPERIORE.DE

"Made entirely with Sangiovese, this has aromas of mature black-skinned fruit, exotic spice, camphor and whiffs of French oak. Firmly structured but elegant, the linear palate delivers Marasca cherry, red plum, espresso and licorice framed in tightly knit, fine-grained tannins. Bright acidity keeps it fresh and balanced." Wine Enthusiast

"The Poliziano 2016 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Le Caggiole opens to a dark and sultry appearance, showing a rich and elegant side of the Sangiovese grape. There is a snappy or tart element to the fruit with sour cherry and black plum; however, the wine does not lack for ripeness. There is depth and rich concentration here, giving this wine a step up when it comes to a possible steak or meat roast dinner. The tannins (both the fruit and the oak tannins) are astringent, so give the wine a few more months of bottle aging." Robert Parker

    About the winemakersPolizianoTuscany | Montepulciano
    Poliziano

Montepulciano, Pienza, Cortona - these small towns comprehensively describe the terrain on which this West Tuscan symbolic enterprise operates. The labels of the Poliziano winery, located below Montepulciano near Gracciano, have never disappointed wine lovers. This is why the farm, founded by Dino Carletti at the beginning of the sixties mainly out of love for his land, has long since conquered a firm place in Italy's highest wine league. Since the beginning of the 1980s, Federico Carletti has run the estate, built in modern architecture, with a dedication that already distinguished his father. The owner is considered a wine enthusiast who strives for perfection and is bursting with energy. These personal characteristics also explain why Federico appointed none other than Carlo Ferrini as production manager in the estate and that he has been very successfully leading the Consorzio del Vino Nobile as president for years. In addition to the Azienda Agricola Poliziano, Carletti also owns Lohsa, a winery in the Maremma.

After successfully completing his studies in agricultural science at the University of Florence, the "dottors" first in other companies first experiences, sooner he dared to initiate a dynamic quality offensive in his father's company. Federico invested a lot of money in the old vineyards, which were already in use in the 1940s, to replant them and expand the areas under cultivation. He also researched other ways to improve the quality of yields. The perfect equipment of the spacious and functionally equipped cellar today includes conical cooking stands made of stainless steel as well as clearly arranged small wooden barrels.
