Soave DOC 2022
Brigaldara's Soave is a fresh, clear and very successful white. Aromas of ripe apples, lime zest, flowers and a delicate hint of spices. Soft and supple on the palate, very focused on the fruit and the pleasing acidity, plus notes of almonds that give it a respectable depth. In the pleasant finish, subtle notes of kiwi and citrus fruit - very successful! SUPERIORE.DE
"Potent floral aromas leap from the bottle with notes of acacia, jasmine and honeysuckle that lead to cooked apricots, roasted lemon rind and honey. The palate focuses on white-peach notes with lemon squeezed on top, giving the wine a perk of acidity finishing with a distinct mineral edge." Wine Enthusiast

Valpolicella DOC 2021
Brigaldara's Valpolicella is mainly made from Corvina and Corvinone grapes. The timing of the harvest is very important for this wine so that its aromas are very delicate and its sensory balance is influenced by the precisely measured acidity. It expresses the characteristic aromas of the valley: from cherries to spicy notes, more or less pronounced depending on the vintage. Its pretty balance is achieved by a short ageing in steel, which perfectly enhances the sensory characteristics. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, sparkling ruby red with a softly lightening rim. In the nose with great expression, compact nose of strawberry and wild berries, plus sweet spices. On the palate juicy, compact, fresh, balanced, has everything a great Valpolicella needs!" Falstaff
"Brigaldara has encapsulated all of the aromas of a rose garden into the 2021 Valpolicella: earthy, peppery, floral and fresh. This impresses further with its silky textures and dark cherry fruit, all neatly balanced by a core of zesty acidity. The 2021 leaves a mineral staining while tapering off lightly structured, slightly chewy, yet remarkably fresh. Bring this lively and characterful Valpolicella to the dinner table and watch it shine." Vinous

“Case Vecie” Valpolicella Superiore DOC 2021
Valpolicella Superiore Case Vecie is made from mainly Corvina and Corvinone grapes. It takes its name from the vineyard of the same name in Grezzana, where the ripening of the grapes is subject to strong temperature fluctuations between day and night: a climatic peculiarity that gives the wine a special spiciness on the nose and a completely unique polyphenol profile. Bright ruby red with notes of cherries, vanilla and spices. In the drink a beautiful fruit and acidity, wonderfully balanced body. Juicy and long. SUPERIORE.DE
"This Valpolicella lifts from the glass with fresh wild cherry and red-plum aromas giving way to violets, rosemary and fresh earth. The palate is bright with ripe red berries, allspice, vanilla, black tea and sweet and savory spices finishing with an electric acidity that keeps the palate refreshed after each sip." Recioto della Valpolicella DOCG 2019 dolce
Brigaldara's Recioto presents itself wonderfully with a warm aroma spectrum of pickled cherries, roses, herbs and traces of honey. It shows its true class on the palate: wonderfully balanced with its fruit-acid play and never dominant sweetness, it presents distinctive notes of small dark berries, creamy spicy aromas and dark chocolate until a never-ending, warming finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Full-bodied with lots of sweet crushed blackcurrant and blackberry fruit, together with macadamia nuts and red licorice-like notes. The fine tannins add structure and density. Finishes quite firm." James Suckling
"Savory herbs, earth tones and crushed stone give way to lifting hints of mint and camphor as the 2019 Recioto della Valpolicella opens in the glass. This is less about fruit and more about depth and character, as a dense wave of balsam herbs and exotic spices rushes the palate. There is a lovely inner sweetness with zesty acids to balance and saline-minerals that create a salty-sweet expression. It’s incredibly long, adding vivid black cherries, blackberry preserves and hints of mint. The 2019 is a total wine of meditation." Vinous

“Cavolo” Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG 2018
Garnet red with aromas of jammy fruit, black cherry, cherry, vanilla, with hints of wilting and spice. It is a wine of great structure, wrapped in fine, chalky tannins, complex, elegant and velvety. SUPERIORE.DE
"Quite a vegetal nose with dried berries underneath. Fruitier palate with a full body and fine, lightly firm tannins that conduct the fruit through the long finish. The vegetal note persists but, by the end, it becomes an element of complexity rather than a distraction." James Suckling

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 2017
Amarone Classico is made from grapes grown in the vineyards of the classic Valpolicella area at the entrance to the Marano Valley. The drying process of the carefully selected grapes takes about 120 days. After fermentation, the wine matures in wooden barrels for at least 3 years.
Dark cherries, plums, smoke, mint, liquorice, sweet herbs and crushed rose petals swirl around in the glass as the wine gradually opens. Lively and lively, it features an expressive and well-defined personality and seriousness. For all its depth, the 2017 edition is an almost weightless Amarone built on finesse and elegance. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright shimmering ruby red. Finely marked on the nose, slightly barrel-spicy, savoury cherry and plum fruit, as well as blood orange and rosehip on the finish, white pepper. Very juicy and radiant on the palate, compact and polished, with tension and vibration until the final." Falstaff
"Exotic spices and dusty black cherry are complemented by a vivid notes of cinnamon and dried flowers as the remarkably pretty 2017 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico opens in the glass. This is cool-toned and seamless in feel, coasting across the palate with mineral-tinged red berries, hints of sour citrus and exotic spices, all energized by brilliant acidity. The 2017 finishes long, lightly structured and staining without a hint of its 16.5% abv and amazing balance." Vinous
"This shows excellent intensity on the nose, with suggestive notes of sweet raspberries, Christmas spices, nutmeg and hints of salted plums, caramel and chocolate. Very flavorful, but agile and silky on the medium-to full-bodied palate. Signature Amarone warmth and bittersweet berry and chocolate in the finish, with some savory and sweet spice, too. Long and complex." James Suckling

“Case Vecie” Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG 2017
Amarone Case Vecie takes its name from the vineyard of the same name in the municipality of Grezzana in Valpantena. It is an exceptional parcel where, thanks to the altitude and exposure, the grapes ripen slowly and consistently even in the most difficult years. The late harvest allows the grapes to be stored in a cooler season and to undergo a slow and long drying process that develops the characteristic aromas. A wine that brings out the natural characteristics of the high mountain climate: a true Amarone delle "Vigne Alte".
Intense ruby red. Case Vecie takes its time to open up in the glass. It seduces with a rather unobtrusive but also meditative expression and draws the eye to a pretty bouquet of blackberries, lavender and violets. The palate reveals pure elegance, resting on a core of lively acids and at the same time an impressive density with radiant black fruits that gain in volume and depth towards the end. Cherries, sweet spices, mocha and dark floral notes run through the dramatically long final. The harmony and balance is already amazing and will become even more refined with further bottle ageing. SUPERIORE.DE
"Enticing aromas of dried strawberries and raspberries, together with notes of heather-like herbs and dried citrus peel. Full-bodied with beautiful, silky tannins that embrace the fruit and add length. In fact this is very long, releasing more and more cedar and spicy dried peel for you to savor. An excellent 2017 from a top Amarone vineyard site." James Suckling
"The 2017 Amarone della Valpolicella Case Vecie is dreamy, wafting up with a remarkably fresh bouquet that features roses, violets, shavings of cedar, dusty cherry and sweet smoke. This is elegance personified, with ripe red and black fruits excited by vibrant acidity as confectionary spice emerges. Minerals add a more tactile feel toward the close. Balsam herbs and hints of mocha resonate as the 2017 finishes with a gentle tug of tannin and a slight bitter twang that punctuates the wine perfectly. This child of a warm vintage shows impressive balance and tremendous potential for the future. Bury your bottles deep." Vinous

“San Floriano” Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva DOCG 2013
Brigaldara's Amarone Riserva is a wine born from the desire to interpret Valpolicella in its most original form. The rigorously selected grape material that is its basis is chosen from the best vineyards to bring out the maximum potential of the estate's own sites in Valpolicella.
Garnet red, aromas of pickled fruits, spices, sour cherries, plus nuances of tobacco and cocoa. Brigaldara's Riserva is a big, concentrated "old school" Amarone with a good dose of residual sugar and volatile acidity that give the wine its distinctive style and plenty of complexity. This uncompromising and rich Amarone hits all the right points: Mocha, old leather, smoke, tobacco and liquorice are just some of the exciting components of its long, personality-rich and distinctive finish. An energetic wine in balance between fruit and power, it plays with its class and depth and has secured a place in the appellation's best list with complex and deep tertiary notes. SUPERIORE.DE
"Even at ten years old, the 2013 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva San Floriano is still just a baby. It’s dark, intense and tightly wound, yet coaxing unveils a delicate mix of sugar-dusted blackberries, lilac, crushed violets and dusty stone. This is velvety smooth, seamlessly flowing across the palate with a polished blend of red and black fruits. Mineral underpinnings and savory, exotic spices add traction toward the close. The 2013 finishes structured, showing a glimpse of its power. A web of fine tannins clenches the senses, transforming sweeter fruits into sour citrus and tart cranberry. The Riserva San Floriano was opened and allowed to breathe for four hours before it became expressive, and I’m sure time would have revealed more. I recommend losing this sleeping giant in the cellar for several years." Vinous
"A delicious, fluid riserva with lovely dried fruit and nutty, cedary influences. Floral and dried peel notes, too. Full and silky with a remnant of red-licoricy tannin coming through at the end. Very pretty now, but this will continue to age gracefully." James Suckling

The name "Valpolicella" comes from the Latin "Vallis-polis-cellae" and translates as "the land of many wine cellars". Because of the famous and unfortunately not too seldom infamous Amarone, this Venetian wine-growing region has gained a lot of popularity in the last twenty years. But as is so often the case, success also has its downsides: Many wineries have unfortunately been addicted to the production boom and the accompanying race to produce the cheapest Amarone wines for many years.
Against this background, the Brigaldara winery, like Tedeschi, Bertani and others, belongs to a manageable group of wine producers who fight to ensure that the premium quality of Amarone is not compromised. Inspired by his collaboration with the famous oenologist Roberto Ferrarini, the winery owner Stefano Cesari has dedicated himself to the production of the classic Amarone and affirms that he is not concerned with the number of tonnes produced, but only with the level of quality.
The winery has been owned by the Cesari family since 1929 and is located outside the small town of San Floriano, east of Lake Garda. More precisely, the historic farm is located at the entrance to the Marano Valley, one of the five municipalities that make up the classic Valpolicella growing area. In the surrounding vineyards, planted only with Corvina and Corvinone, the grapes for the Amarone della Valpolicella Classico and its Riserva are harvested.
The Corvina grape variety belongs to Veneto like Nebbiolo to Piedmont. It makes up the largest share in the Amarone blend, followed by the traditional grape varieties Corvinone, Rondinella and the rediscovered variety Oseleta, which grows on predominantly poorer soils. In the municipality of Grezzana in Valpantena, the limestone vineyard called Cavolo produces a particularly full-bodied and floral-scented interpretation of Amarone, while the flagship wine from the predominantly sandy single vineyard Case Vecie at 450 metres above sea level expresses the special mountain climate.
As a reminder, Amarone is obtained by drying the grapes on special racks. Before the alcoholic fermentation can proceed, the selected grapes are dried out at Brigaldara for about 120 days after the harvest. This unusual processing thus ensures the very own, aromatically concentrated style that undoubtedly represents an important part of the Italian wine tradition.
Brigaldara is also one of the first wineries in the region to subject Amarone to a double wood passage. For oxygenation and colour fixation, the wine undergoes its first resting phase in French barriques and then matures in large 20- and 25-hectolitre Slavonian oak barrels for the sake of structure. These wines have an advantage over their great competitors in that they are already accessible at a young age.
The production philosophy is enriched by different perspectives, experiences and generations, and fortunately brings to the glass precisely the traditional complexity that has characterised Amarone in the past. For this reason, the wines from the Brigaldara house stand out with intense notes of dark fruits, spices and a particularly supple depth. A very personal signature that is hard to resist.
