!["Cuvée Imperiale" Franciacorta DOCG brut]()
“Cuvée Imperiale” Franciacorta DOCG brut
In 1961, Guido Berlucchi and the young Oenologist Franco Ziliani made history: the first ever Franciacorta was created in Borgonato di Corte Franca. This pioneering spirit became an institution and in 2022 the Gambero Rosso named the winery Winery of the Year. The Cuvée Imperiale combines Chardonnay (90%) and Pinot Nero (10%) from the best vineyards in all 19 Franciacorta municipalities. Gentle pressing, fermentation in stainless steel, followed by blending in spring with 10% reserve wines from the best vintages. The wine matures on the lees for at least 18 months, followed by a further two months after disgorgement. Pale straw yellow in colour with greenish reflections. The bouquet reveals ripe fruit, white flowers and fine yeast notes with a hint of bread crust. On the palate: precise, full-bodied, with lively acidity and fine perlage. A versatile classic – perfect as an aperitif, with seafood or white meat. SUPERIORE.DE

!["Alma Assemblage 2" Franciacorta DOCG extra brut]()
“Alma Assemblage 2” Franciacorta DOCG extra brut
"Alma" – the soul. This is what Bellavista calls the wines that have been writing a new chapter in the cantina's history since 2024. What was once called "Gran Cuvée" now bears the name "Alma Assemblage", and the number behind it marks the vintage: Assemblage 2 stands for 2022. Two visionaries are behind this new direction: Francesca Moretti, daughter of founder Vittorio Moretti and current cellar master, and Richard Geoffroy, Chef de Cave at Dom Pérignon for twenty-eight years. Together they have created a collection that reinterprets Franciacorta – not as a copy of Champagne, but as an independent, proud identity. "Franciacorta needs no imitation," says Geoffroy. "It is a world-class terroir." Alma Assemblage 2 extra brut combines grapes from 75 vineyards in ten municipalities in Franciacorta: 86 per cent Chardonnay, 13 per cent Pinot Nero, one per cent Pinot Bianco, supplemented by reserve wines from the 2016, 2019, 2020 and 2021 vintages. After at least thirty months on the lees, the wine is disgorged with minimal dosage – extra brut, pure, precise.

!["Alma Assemblage 2" Franciacorta DOCG non dosato]()
“Alma Assemblage 2” Franciacorta DOCG non dosato
"Alma" – the soul in its most reduced form. Where the Extra Brut with minimal dosage still builds a gentle bridge, the Non Dosato takes the most consistent path: zero grams of residual sugar, zero compromises. Since 2024, Bellavista has been writing a new chapter with the Alma Assemblage collection, and the number 2 marks the 2022 vintage – interpreted with absolute purism. Francesca Moretti and Richard Geoffroy, Chef de Cave at Dom Pérignon for twenty-eight years, created this trilogy with a clear vision: Franciacorta not as an imitation of Champagne, but as a world-class terroir in its own right. The Non Dosato is the most uncompromising answer – a wine that hides nothing, embellishes nothing, but reveals the naked truth of the terroir. Alma Non Dosato Assemblage 2 is based on a different balance: 70 per cent Chardonnay, 30 per cent Pinot Nero from thirty selected vineyards, supplemented by reserve wines from earlier vintages. After at least thirty months on the lees, the wine is disgorged without any dosage – the wine is topped up with itself.

“Alma Assemblage 2” Franciacorta Rosé DOCG extra brut
"Alma" Rosato – the soul in a delicate pink colour. The third and perhaps most seductive member of the Alma Assemblage trilogy combines elegance with power, delicacy with structure. Bellavista has been writing a new chapter with this collection since 2024, and the Rosé Assemblage 2 from the 2022 vintage shows how contemporary and soulful Franciacorta can be at the same time. Francesca Moretti and Richard Geoffroy, the legendary former Chef de Cave of Dom Pérignon, have developed this line with a clear vision: Franciacorta as a world-class terroir in its own right, not as an imitation. The rosé is the most sensual interpretation of this – a wine that combines depth with lightness. Alma Rosé Assemblage 2 combines grapes from 26 vineyards: 60 per cent Chardonnay for finesse and tension, 40 per cent Pinot Nero for structure and that delicate colour that comes from short maceration directly in the press. Around 25 per cent of the wine is matured in oak before reserve wines from the two previous vintages are added. After at least thirty months on the lees, the wine is disgorged with minimal dosage.

A Franciacorta of great clarity and stylistic refinement: Pas Operé 2016 is a finely composed blend of around 75% Chardonnay and 25% Pinot Noir, obtained exclusively from historic vineyards with over 30 years of vines. The grapes come predominantly from plots exposed to the south-east and are subject to extremely strict selection. At least 60 months of bottle ageing on the fine lees give the wine a creamy texture and complex depth. Pas Operé presents itself in the glass with a warm straw yellow colour, supported by a particularly elegant and delicate perlage. On the nose, it develops aromas of white peach, citrus fruit, brioche, honeydew melon and nuances of roasted hazelnuts, delicately accompanied by herbal nuances and mineral freshness. On the palate, it displays a fine acidity structure and an elegant tension, carried by subtle spice and salty length. Despite its density, the wine is never heavy, but harmonious, powerful and elegant. SUPERIORE.DE

!["61" Franciacorta Millesimato DOCG 2018 dosaggio zero]()
“61” Franciacorta Millesimato DOCG 2018 dosaggio zero
Here comes Guido Berlucchi's fine vintage Franciacorta, which does not require any dosage (zero) and thus perfectly rounds off the top end of the 61 collection. The "61" line stands for the birth year of the first Franciacorta, which was created in 1961 in the centuries-old Berlucchi vineyards. The grapes come from four vineyards between Corte Franca and Provaglio d'Iseo. In its purity, the cuvée perfectly embodies the expression of the terroir and shows the fascination of Chardonnay. Despite its 0 grams of residual sugar, the palate is rich and full of soul. Very big! SUPERIORE.DE

![Franciacorta Satèn DOCG 2020 brut]()
Franciacorta Satèn DOCG 2020 brut
Satèn – the name alone promises what this Franciacorta delivers: silky-soft texture, reduced perlage intensity, pure elegance. Bellavista vinifies this exclusive category exclusively in outstanding years from pure Chardonnay from the higher vineyards that catch the first morning light. The 2020 vintage shows what Vittorio Moretti's vision of perfection means: hand-picked grapes, vinified in small oak barrels, then matured on the lees for at least four years in the bottle – time that you can taste.

![Franciacorta Rosé DOCG 2020 brut]()
Franciacorta Rosé DOCG 2020 brut
Rosé 2020 combines Chardonnay with a proportion of Pinot Nero from carefully selected parcels. Maturation on the lees for at least 30 months gives the Brut its smooth creaminess and delicate perlage. In the glass, it is an elegant old rose colour with a delicate shimmer and a persistent, fine mousse. The aroma reveals nuances of raspberry, pomegranate, pink grapefruit and delicate rose petals, complemented by brioche and an underlying spiciness. Present, juicy and refreshing on the palate, with lively acidity and astonishing depth of fruit. The finish is dry, clear and of restrained, mineral length – a rosé with presence, tension and elegance full of character. SUPERIORE.DE

The Franciacorta is a relatively small and still young wine-growing area. As a result, the subzone in the north of Lombardy is comparatively little known outside Italy. Since the noble sparkling wines play qualitatively long in the first league, they are called by wine connoisseurs rightly in a breath with the French model Champagner.
It was only in the sixties that Franciacorta, which had previously been characterised by a production for its own needs, began to cultivate wine on a grand scale. The cradle of the manageable and scenically very attractive wine-growing area is the Guido Berlucchi winery (you can also find it here). In 1961 the oenologist and champagne lover Franco Ziliani produced a sparkling wine in classic bottle fermentation for the first time. In Italy, this procedure is used "Metodo Classico " or even "Metodo Tradizionale" is called. Six years later Franciacorta became a DOC region and in 1995 the subzone was granted DOCG status, a controlled and protected designation of origin. This appreciation has been followed by a meteoric rise to this day, which manifests itself in annually increasing sales figures. The goal is clear: Franciacorta should establish itself as an independent name - comparable to the French equivalent from the area around Epernay. This explains why the Consortium, founded in 1990 by a group of winegrowers to protect the 2,000 hectare area in which Franciacorta DOCG is now grown, ordered that the labels on the bottles of Franciacorta DOCG should not be confused with the term "wine". "sparkling wine" - the Italian name for sparkling wine.
In fact, the Franciacorta can compete with the sometimes much more expensive French model. The grapes come from the Brescia region, between Milan and Verona, not far from Lake Garda. To the east the zone is bordered by foothills of the Rhaetian Alps, to the west by the river Oglio and to the south by Monte Orfano. The temperature differences between day and night are high, the winter months turn out to be cold and humid, the summers are warm. The vines grow on mineral-rich moraine hills; the soils are mostly loose, loamy limestone and siliceous. The vineyards wind like a ribbon around the southern part of Lago d'Iseo. All in all, the conditions for the cultivation of fine sparkling wines in Franciacorta are ideal.
The production regulations for the North Italian fine sparkling wine are literal and just as strict as in the Champagne. Only the grape types Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco and Pinot Nero (here maximum 50 percent) are permitted. Yields from newly planted vineyards may only be processed from the third vintage onwards. A simple Franciacorta Brut must mature on the yeast for 18 months and a vintage sparkling wine for at least 30 months before being sold. The dosage and the resulting residual sweetness are kept rather lean, resulting in a complex and elegant drop that also has good ripening and storage potential. A classic Franciacorta Brut (without vintage) is complemented by four other wine types: Satèn, Rosé, Millesimato (vintage sparkling wine) and Riserva. Among the almost one hundred Franciacorta producers, Guido Berlucchi and the Bellavista and Ca' del Bosco wineries are among the best known.
In Italy, the sparkling wines from the Franciacorta wine region have of course made the breakthrough a long time ago, which has already led to some producers' increasing international demand outstripping supply. Mainly in the north of the country the native noble sparkling wine is enjoyed gladly as aperitif and food companion. SUPERIORE.DE
"Most thoughts of fine sparkling wines begin and end with champagne. This is understandable, but Champagne, which is also associated with a certain production process - the traditional bottle fermentation process used in other countries - by no means the only area in the world where fine sparkling wine is produced. In Italy, where it is called Spumante, extremely fine, delicate examples succeed, especially in cooler northern regions such as Franciacorta and other parts of Lombardy, Trentino and South Tyrol ..."
