Subtly fine aroma of bread crust and white peach, with hints of almond. Long and extremely pleasurable the fresh, clear taste - an affordable classic! SUPERIORE.DE

Citrus-tinged apples and apricots mingle with dried field grass and hints of brioche. It's teeming with energy but also soft and soothing, with a slightly exotic and almost-tropical note on the palate. Minerals and residual acids slowly fizzle out, leaving a complete fresh sensation." Vinous

“Essence” Franciacorta Millesimato DOCG 2018 satèn brut
Franciacorta Satèn, made from the best Chardonnay grapes of the vintage, seduces with a complex bouquet of citrus fruit aromas and fresh yeasty pastries. Enveloping and creamy on the palate, structured and harmonious, very persistent and with a nutty finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Anyone who is pinning their hopes on the new year and would like to toast to it should consider doing so with this Franciacorta. It is noble and displays the lightness with which the Italians have always managed to get through all crises. But it would be even better to drink it afterwards (or before) with a meal. With its restrained foam (= Satèn), it is ideal with salmon, oysters, carp and whatever else you give yourself as a present at Christmas and New Year's Eve." Jens Priewe (weinkenner.de)

“Alma” Franciacorta Gran Cuvée DOCG (2018) non dosato
Here comes the new archaic form of Franciacorta - hardly any residual sugar, no dosage, but purism in its purest form. Fresh and direct in the bouquet, yet finely polished and not overbearing. Highly elegant on the palate with fine perlage and a lot of agility. For all its liveliness, it is always sensual, almost distinguished and discreetly enigmatic and of the greatest harmony. A fresh and crisp sparkling wine from the best producers and currently one of the most characterful representatives of its kind. SUPERIORE.DE

“Alma” Franciacorta Gran Cuvée Rosé DOCG (2018) dosaggio zero
Alma Rosé is the youngest offspring of Bellavista's top-class Franciacorta family. Radiant rosé with golden reflections. Fine, refined perlage with a dynamic foam. Its generous aromas are characterised by fragrant nuances of white Mediterranean flowers that harmonise with ripe citrus fruits. Then, fresh and intense notes of yellow fruits, nectarines and lychees reveal themselves with generous accents of red berries, pomegranate and pink elderflower. In between, delicate chords of white chocolate, cocoa, almonds and marzipan resound. The taste corresponds perfectly with the nose and is subtle, silky, seductive and persistent. The fine structure reveals a unique lightness. Long-lasting persistence. We are delighted by its crystalline freshness and linearity. SUPERIORE.DE

“61” Franciacorta Millesimato DOCG 2013 brut nature
Brut Nature is Guido Berlucchi's vintage Franciacorta made from Chardonnay and Pinot Nero, which does without any dosage at all and thus rounds off the 61 collection perfectly at the top. This line represents the birth year of the first Franciacorta, which was created in 1961 in the century-old Berlucchi vineyards. The grapes come from four vineyards between Corte Franca and Provaglio d'Iseo. The cuvée perfectly embodies the expression of the terroir in its purity, showing the fascination of the Chardonnay and the minerality of the Pinot Noir. The bouquet exudes just these honestly fragrant tones, rich on the palate and with a lot of soul. Quite big! SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2014 Nature '61 wafts up with a pretty display of white smoke and peach skins enriched by a hint of almond paste. This traverses both savory and sweet, while also being decidedly saline in style, as green apple gives way to sour citrus and a hint of custard toward the close. Residual acids keep the mouth watering for more, as gingery spice lingers, and inner florals fade. This is nicely done." Vinous
"Bone-dry and loaded with finesse, this blend of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Nero offers delicate scents of spring wild flower, brioche and ripe orchard fruit. Vibrant, focused and savory, the palate features yellow pear, apple and lemon zest alongside hints of hazelnut. Bright acidity keeps it energized while an extremely refined perlage lends elegance." Delicate peach-pink. Beguiling aroma of cranberry, citrus with a mineral component. On the palate, a fine bread and yeast note mixed with the power, acidity and tannin of the Pinot Nero, rich foam and a fine, consistent perlage. Finishes with an aristocratic hint of bitterness and graceful creaminess. SUPERIORE.DE
"Intense bright pink with copper accents. Opens in the bouquet on candied tangerines and fresh strawberries, slightly iodine, then almond cream and fine meadow herbs. Stretches lively across the tongue, with crisp acidity, tense, taut on the draw, showing grip and good length, finishing animatingly salty." Falstaff
"Enticing scents of bright red berry, rose, cedar and delicate, yeasty whiffs recalling fresh bread dough float out of the glass. Bone-dry and supremely elegant, the savory, understated palate suddenly blooms on the midpalate, delivering juicy pomegranate, blood orange, star anise and crushed mint alongside racy acidity and an extremely refined perlage." The Franciacorta is a relatively small and still young wine-growing area. As a result, the subzone in the north of Lombardy is comparatively little known outside Italy. Since the noble sparkling wines play qualitatively long in the first league, they are called by wine connoisseurs rightly in a breath with the French model Champagner.
It was only in the sixties that Franciacorta, which had previously been characterised by a production for its own needs, began to cultivate wine on a grand scale. The cradle of the manageable and scenically very attractive wine-growing area is the Guido Berlucchi winery (you can also find it here). In 1961 the oenologist and champagne lover Franco Ziliani produced a sparkling wine in classic bottle fermentation for the first time. In Italy, this procedure is used "Metodo Classico " or even "Metodo Tradizionale" is called. Six years later Franciacorta became a DOC region and in 1995 the subzone was granted DOCG status, a controlled and protected designation of origin. This appreciation has been followed by a meteoric rise to this day, which manifests itself in annually increasing sales figures. The goal is clear: Franciacorta should establish itself as an independent name - comparable to the French equivalent from the area around Epernay. This explains why the Consortium, founded in 1990 by a group of winegrowers to protect the 2,000 hectare area in which Franciacorta DOCG is now grown, ordered that the labels on the bottles of Franciacorta DOCG should not be confused with the term "wine". "sparkling wine" - the Italian name for sparkling wine.
In fact, the Franciacorta can compete with the sometimes much more expensive French model. The grapes come from the Brescia region, between Milan and Verona, not far from Lake Garda. To the east the zone is bordered by foothills of the Rhaetian Alps, to the west by the river Oglio and to the south by Monte Orfano. The temperature differences between day and night are high, the winter months turn out to be cold and humid, the summers are warm. The vines grow on mineral-rich moraine hills; the soils are mostly loose, loamy limestone and siliceous. The vineyards wind like a ribbon around the southern part of Lago d'Iseo. All in all, the conditions for the cultivation of fine sparkling wines in Franciacorta are ideal.
The production regulations for the North Italian fine sparkling wine are literal and just as strict as in the Champagne. Only the grape types Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco and Pinot Nero (here maximum 50 percent) are permitted. Yields from newly planted vineyards may only be processed from the third vintage onwards. A simple Franciacorta Brut must mature on the yeast for 18 months and a vintage sparkling wine for at least 30 months before being sold. The dosage and the resulting residual sweetness are kept rather lean, resulting in a complex and elegant drop that also has good ripening and storage potential. A classic Franciacorta Brut (without vintage) is complemented by four other wine types: Satèn, Rosé, Millesimato (vintage sparkling wine) and Riserva. Among the almost one hundred Franciacorta producers, Guido Berlucchi and the Bellavista and Ca' del Bosco wineries are among the best known.
In Italy, the sparkling wines from the Franciacorta wine region have of course made the breakthrough a long time ago, which has already led to some producers' increasing international demand outstripping supply. Mainly in the north of the country the native noble sparkling wine is enjoyed gladly as aperitif and food companion. SUPERIORE.DE
"Most thoughts of fine sparkling wines begin and end with champagne. This is understandable, but Champagne, which is also associated with a certain production process - the traditional bottle fermentation process used in other countries - by no means the only area in the world where fine sparkling wine is produced. In Italy, where it is called Spumante, extremely fine, delicate examples succeed, especially in cooler northern regions such as Franciacorta and other parts of Lombardy, Trentino and South Tyrol ..."
