Long Now is still a real insider tip for us. Dark ruby. Opulent nose with notes of black cherry, smoke, tobacco and liquorice. The palate is full of tension with a breadth and power that is unparalleled. In this exceptional wine, Barbera and Nebbiolo merge into a spectacular blend that moves richly, powerfully and with a beautiful, long resonance into a seemingly endless final. SUPERIORE.DE

Barbaresco “Tulin” DOCG 2016
In the bouquet eucalyptus and red berries. Energetic, deep and elegant Barbaresco with a cornucopia of fruit, plus some rose petals and spices. Wonderfully polished finish, one of the great wines from Pelissero. SUPERIORE.DE
"Powerful, luminous ruby with a slight garnet shimmer. Compact nose, reveals notes of beetroot, dried porcini mushrooms and plums. Round and smooth in the beginning and the course, a lot of fine-meshed tannin, in the final firm pressure, very balanced." Falstaff
"Plump, with cherry and strawberry fruit, licorice, eucalyptus and spice flavors. Fluid and fresh, this builds to a lingering finish, where dusty tannins reign. Very elegant." Wine Spectator

Barbaresco “Vanotu” DOCG 2016
Vanotu is the top plant of Pelissero and every year very convincing. Attractive garnet red, concentrated, hearty bouquet with fine tobacco and leather notes. Generous also on the palate, with overripe sour cherries and with densely woven tannins. A spectacular and masculine wine with great storage potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"Intense bright ruby red with fine garnet edge. Very present and dense nose, shows a lot of intense fruit, after blackberry, dark cherry and plum, in the background after truffle. Dense and powerful at the base, spreads well, in the rear the wood is clearly visible, drying tannin." Falstaff
"The flagship 2016 Barbaresco Vanotu is dense, plush and explosive. Black cherry, chocolate, licorice, spice, leather, menthol and dried flowers all run through this rich, sumptuous Barbaresco. Even with all of its obvious richness and muscle, the 2016 retains a good bit of freshness. Readers need to give the 2016 time to settle down post bottling." Vinous
"A supple, elegant style, this offers cherry, floral, iron, tar, toasty and spice aromas and flavors. Fleshy midpalate, this stands up to the tannins that emerge on the finish. Best from 2023 through 2042." Wine Spectator

Barbaresco “Nubiola” DOCG 2016 · MAGNUM
Sparkling ruby. Expressive, very fragrant bouquet of red stone fruit, wild berries, mint and leather. Juicy, clear approach with well-proportioned tannins. Wonderfully long finish with ripe berries and spices. SUPERIORE.DE
"Intense ruby with a light garnet rim. Appealing nose with fine notes of raspberry, plum and pomegranate. Shows grippy tannin on the palate, lots of sweet melting, then distinct wood notes in the final." Falstaff
"Tasted blind. Dark and almost impenetrable ruby - oak? Oh, yes: sweetly oaked, deep, crushed dark-fruit nose. Lots of luscious, sweet oak, while the succulent fruit has already begun to integrate. Gripping yet ripe tannins. It is a lot of oak and although the fruit handles it more than well, I wonder if this will limit its ageing capacity. Right now it is super-hedonistic while the gripping structure truly adds pizzazz." Jancis Robinson
"The charming and dynamic Giorgio Pelissero produces this wine from six small sites throughout the Barbaresco region. It's aged mostly in large casks but also in some older barriques. The nose is lush and smoky, with very ripe cherry aromas. Suave and broad, it shows ample flesh and ripe tannins. It's a touch extracted and not very nuanced but it packs a punch and has good weight and length." Decanter
"Marked by spicy oak, this red is rich and laced with cherry, plum, menthol and tobacco flavors. Balanced and densely structured, showing length on the gripping finish." Wine Spectator
"The Pelissero 2016 Barbaresco Nubiola shows rich layers of dark fruit, spice, tar and pressed lilac. There is extra padding and fruit weight in this expression that comes from a sunny but classic vintage. The wine passes smoothly over the palate with integrated and a slightly dusty or dry quality to the tannins. This is a good near or medium-term Barbaresco." Robert Parker

The Pelissero winery, now in its third generation, is nestled in the hills of the Langhe and surrounded by the medieval tower of Barbaresco and Château Guarene.
In the course of time, the company, founded by Luigi Pelissero and managed since 1987 by his son Giorgio, a trained oenologist, has become more and more important in the wine world.
Originally, the family had only grown grapes in Piedmont in order to sell them later. Luigi first pressed and bottled the first bottles. The heritage was later improved by Giorgio, with the help of his sister Cristina, through constant research in the vineyards and cellars to ensure the same high quality of the wines every year.
The 40 hectares of vineyards represent about 85 percent of the autochthonous varieties Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto. They make up the great charm of the region. The vineyards are located in the municipalities of Neive, Barbaresco and Treiso. Thanks to the extensive areas, the best berries can always be selected from the grapes. As far as his traditional wine style is concerned, Giorgio has clear ideas. Besides a very high drinkability purity and taste elegance are the preferred characteristics, writes the Gambero Rosso. The family also succeeds again and again in transferring the profile of each individual vineyard to the corresponding label and in clearly highlighting the character of each grape variety.
The spirited and aging wines of the Azienda Agricola Pelissero can be very appealing even at a young age. They are aged in wooden barrels of different sizes and often new ones. The wine range extends from the very inexpensive Barbera d'Alba to the exclusive and therefore much more expensive Barbaresco Vanotu from Basarin di Neive. By the way, the model wine bears the nickname of Cristinas and Giorgio's grandfather. He has already been awarded several times by the Gambero Rossowith three glasses. SUPERIORE.DE
"Giorgio's dynamic management style has had a decisive impact on the company and proves its above-average capabilities even in difficult years with highly competitive markets ... Stylistically he focuses on character and personality."Gambero Rosso
