“Perlato del Bosco” Vermentino Toscana IGT 2022
Characteristic bouquet of kiwi, lime blossom and honeydew melon. On the palate, a very pleasant creamy texture, rich and soft. Fresh, mineral and long, it shows its maritime origin and a structural density that predestines it as a food companion. A beautiful interpretation of the Tuscan Vermentino grape! SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright straw yellow with a drop of light gold. In the nose initially of pepper, rosemary, some flowers and citrus, as well as peach. On the palate with compact acidity and full pressure, also slightly salty, then shows itself a little bitter in the final." Falstaff
"A very complex and focused vermentino with sliced green melon, honey blossom, and lemons. Medium body. Bright acidity and crushed stone." James Suckling

“Rosso dei Notri” Toscana IGT 2021
Intense ruby red. In the nose ripe fruits like black cherry and plum. Discreetly sweet-floral notes. Finely structured on the palate with wonderfully fine tannin, a beautiful thread of acidity and great juiciness finishes long. Rosso dei Notri is a solid, concentrated drop with bite and power. With its fleshy, long-lasting flavour, overall harmony and reasonable value, it is every bit as much fun to enter the great world of Tua Rita wines. SUPERIORE.DE
"A bright, focused red, offering cherry, raspberry, floral and earth flavors. Fluid and graceful, this leaves a light coating of tannins on the tangy finish." Wine Spectator
"A pretty red with blackberries, blueberries and sage as well as dried flowers. Medium-bodied with light, fine tannins and a fresh finish. One of the best I have ever drunk." James Suckling

“Keir” Ansonica Toscana IGT 2019
Keir Ansonica is the white answer to Keir Syrah, which is also aged in amphorae. A wine produced in a small edition of 2,000 bottles, neither clarified nor filtered, it is an expression of innovation and tradition at the same time.
Light golden yellow. Fine, reductive bouquet of lemon peel, tropical fruits and yellow apple with hints of smoke, honey, spices, herbs and broom. Dry, medium-bodied palate with nice acidity, freshness and complexity. The flavours reflect the bouquet beautifully and lead into a medium length finish. Very nice first vintage of this truly special white wine. SUPERIORE.DE
"This is the first vintage of a Keir white wine, made from Ansonica macerated on the skins in amphorae for two months. Unclarified and unfiltered, it has a deep, golden, Sauternes-like colour, with waxy orange peel aromas and just a hint of mineral and irony. Salty, savoury flavours on the palate are accompanied by a noticeable tannic edge. A twist of orange peel make this a characterful wine, perfect for drinking with spicy Szechuan-style dishes." “Perlato del Bosco” Sangiovese Toscana IGT 2021
Pure Sangiovese from western Tuscany cannot be compared with the interpretations from Montalcino or Chianti Classico due to its cultivation near the coast, but the somewhat different facet is in no way inferior to the aforementioned. Saturated, bright ruby red. Intense and complex bouquet of cherries, lilacs and broom, densely woven on the palate with black cherries, spices and grilled herbs, all framed by a terrificfreshness and lightness. A supple and elegant wine, whose well-dosed acid wire will not only give it the necessary structure, but also the framework for a wonderful further phase of maturation. SUPERIORE.DE

“Lodano” Bianco Toscana IGT 2021
A true champion is the Lodano, a not everyday cuvée of Chardonnay with Riesling and Gewürztraminer. Powerful, dense and soft with aromas of stone fruit, apricot, honey and candied orange peel. Then it moves on to delicate mineral nuances with crushed granite and shells. Excellent length, depth and floral freshness. The cleansing acidity comes through at the end with attractive brightness. Perfectly embodying Stefano Frascolla's excellent signature, this is an exceptional white. SUPERIORE.DE
"Aromas of pie crust, spices and apples, also some spiced pear. Medium to full body, with an oily texture that is fresh and bright on the finish. Spicy and lively. Nice fruit on the finish. Sophisticated." James Suckling

“Lodano” Rosso Toscana IGT 2020
Lodano Rosso is a blend of Petit Verdot and Merlot, seamlessly integrated with its dark fruits, blackberries and plums, nicely rounded out by smoke and tobacco from French oak and a smaller amount of American oak. The Merlot comes from the winery's famous old vines, and the contemporary concentration and richness of the Lodano can be found in this wine and, for that matter, throughout the winery's portfolio. The dark fruits and spices speak in a deep baritone that calls for a juicy grilled steak, it also offers excellent value! SUPERIORE.DE
"A fresh and fruity red with crushed berries, raspberries, blackcurrants and spices on the nose. Medium-to full-bodied and structured with polished tannins. Rich and flavorful. Try after 2024." James Suckling
"The Tua Rita 2020 Lodano Rosso is mostly Petit Verdot with about 35% Merlot to complete and flesh out the blend. The Merlot comes from old vines planted in rich soil that offers less acidity, especially in the very warm years like 2020. That's why the Petit Verdot works so well to round off this wine. It adds sharper contours, freshness and lots of dark fruit. Grilled poblano pepper, aromas of charred meat, bramble and sweet vanilla spice give volume and intensity. This is a big-bodied red with lasting power and structure." Wine Advocate

“Giusto di Notri” Rosso Toscana IGT 2020
The excellent Cabernet-Merlot blend Giusto di Notri is a concentrated drop with an intense, rich taste. Perfectly dosed bouquet of blackberry, redcurrant and fine herbal spice. Compact on the palate with a well-tempered balance between fruit and oak, plus a distinctive tannin, promising and powerful on the final. SUPERIORE.DE
"A concentrated, supple red, delivering black currant, blackberry, iron, earth and toasty spice flavors. While backed by a spine of firm, dense tannins, this remains balanced and long in its youthful manner. Give this two to three more years in the cellar." Wine Spectator
"Powerful, bright ruby red. Clear and precise fruit, some tobacco and leather up front, then lots of dark berry fruit. Full-bodied and rich on the palate, shows lots of fine-meshed tannin, firm pressure, some liquorice, plus lots of cassis, very long finish." Falstaff
"Lots of incense in the aromas with sandalwood and lavender. Also currants, blackberries and fresh herbs. Full-bodied and very rich, with a powerful, structured mid palate and a long, long finish. A wine for the future. Try it after 2026." James Suckling
"The 2020 Giusto di Notri is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Cabernet Franc and 8% Merlot and is a ripe, powerful and generous wine. The DNA of the wine has changed slightly over the years to favour Cabernet Franc (at a higher percentage) over Merlot, which has dropped from a previous high of around 35% to 40% of the blend a decade ago. What I like about this wine is that it offers an elegant, almost understated interpretation of a hot and dry vintage. The tannins are particularly well integrated in this situation." Wine Advocate

“Keir” Syrah Toscana IGT 2018
Here comes the second vintage of Tua Rita's new wine from the Alta Maremma. Just 2,500 bottles of this 100% Syrah will be bottled, aged (on the skins) for half a year in amphorae, then filtered and matured in small French oak barrels.
Radiant ruby red. On the nose, a seductive mix of cherry with hints of chocolate, herbs and a subtle liquorice note. On the palate, cherry again, complemented by a kaleidoscope of chocolate, coffee and a subtle juniper note. A fabulous acid structure and fine-grained tannins guide the precisely composed wine into a furious final. Keir complements the winery's high-class portfolio in a very independent and emphatic way. Great! SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling ruby with brightening rim. Very clear and inviting note with hints of raspberry and clove, some Szechuan pepper, also spicy rosemary. Lots of present fruit, also lots of raspberry on the palate, firm tannin, grippy on the final." Falstaff
"The 2018 Keir very much stands out in this set of new releases from Tua Rita. A passion project and something of an intellectual challenge accepted mutually by Stefano Frascolla and Luca D'Attoma, this is Syrah fermented in Tuscan amphorae with six months of skin contact. This vintage is especially delicate and pure, and one important reason for this is the growing season that was extended by 15 days in this 2018 vintage. That extra time allowed the fruit to mature slowly according to its own time table. This is a luxury that is appreciated by Syrah in particular. The wine emerges with delicate, almost fragile aromas of wild rose, wet earth, violets and crushed black pepper. Syrah is very expressive of territory and vintage, and this wine speak of classic Tuscany. It is naked in its purity." Wine Advocate
"The first vintage of Keir in 2016 signalled a new style of wine for Tua Rita: 100% Syrah fermented and macerated on the skins for six months in terracotta amphorae. This 2018 has mineral, gun-flinty aromas but with lively, pure flavours of brambles, smoke and liquorice. It has a beautifully elegant, gossamer palate with very fine-textured tannins." Decanter

“Keir” Syrah Toscana IGT 2019
Here comes the third vintage of Stefano Frascolla's heart project from the Alta Maremma. Just 2,500 bottles of this 100% Syrah are bottled, aged (on the skins) for half a year in amphorae, then filtered and matured in small French oak barrels.
Radiant ruby red. On the nose, a seductive mix of cherry with hints of chocolate, herbs and a subtle liquorice note. A fabulous acid structure and fine-grained tannins guide the precisely composed wine into a furious final. Keir complements the winery's high-class portfolio in a very independent and emphatic way. Great! SUPERIORE.DE
"Shiny ruby-violet with a little light rim. Opens with fine spicy notes, pepper and ivy, then some cherry, blood orange. On the palate lots of grippy, hearty tannin, dark berries, some tobacco, a little brittle on the final." Falstaff
"The green-tobacco and pepper character is very intense with blackberry and black-cherry undertones. Full-bodied and layered with soft tannins that are creamy and very pretty. A full yet soft-textured palate. Succulent and delicious." James Suckling
"A pure expression of Syrah that spends six months in amphorae, the Tua Rita 2019 Keir Rosso is a gregarious and super fun wine that is a joy to drink and a great conversation starter thanks to the crafty approach used in its winemaking. Long skin maceration times give the wine extra intensity. The tightly pored surface of the clay amphorae (that are fired in kilns at very hot temperatures and long durations) means that the wine gets less oxygen during winemaking. This contributes to its delicate and elegant flavors and ultimately to the promising longevity of this vintage. Keir is not as full-bodied as other Tuscan Syrahs, but the wine shows terrific purity and focus instead. The bouquet offers punchy black fruit, plum, tea leaf and savory tobacco." Wine Advocate
"2019 is for Stefano Frascolla an exceptional vintage - one of the best vintages of the last two decades. Bright magenta in colour with an exuberant nose of vivid sweet blackcurrant, cream and spice, this has youthful raspberry, white pepper and flint flavours mixed with concentrated yet vibrant fruit. Impossible to resist, with a lovely weightless texture and harmony, it dances seamlessly across the palate and disappears with incredible lightness but lingering flavours. Syrah meets Burgundy!" “Per Sempre” Syrah Toscana IGT 2019
Deep dark, almost impenetrable red. On the nose, a whole range of ripe wild berries, finely underpinned by nuances of tobacco, leather and lavender. Also on the palate with lots of fruit, powerful, yet silky and elegant. Traces of dark chocolate in the endlessly long final. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich, intensely sparkling ruby-violet. Opens with notes of cherry jam, cinnamon and red pepper, some cedar wood, exciting. Powerful attack, spreads out richly, dense tannin coated with sweet melting, juicy and with a long finish." Falstaff
"Subtle aromas of spice, sweet tobacco leaf and black fruit follow through to a full body with chewy tannins, yet they are fine-grained and intense. Hints of vanilla now. This will come together beautifully. Give it three to four years of bottle time to show its best." James Suckling
"This is a smashing success. The Tua Rita 2019 Syrah Per Sempre hits it out of the ballpark thanks to its impressive richness and aromatic intensity. The grapes come from a special growing site with compact galestro soils. These conditions aid in the richness and the concentration of the wine, with its distinctive hints of iron ore, pencil shaving and rust. Those precise aromas frame a deep, dark core of cherry or blackberry confit. This vintage shows some extra fattiness or fruit weight that adds to its power and overall impact. This is a standout bottle from a classic vintage." Wine Advocate

"Explosive and rich on the nose and in the mouth with ripe blue fruits, maquis spice, sweet tobacco, pepper and lots of balsamic. Already open, but with still powerful tannin." Weinwisser
"Sparkling, compact ruby violet. Opens with intense notes of black pepper and galangal, then plums and blueberry. Full-bodied and dense on the palate, showing lots of present, dark fruit, grippy, still a bit rough tannin, hearty and wild." Falstaff
"This new vintage is simply great because it combines a sunny growing season with a grape variety like Syrah that thrives in these conditions. The Tua Rita 2020 Syrah Per Sempre offers juicy, full-bodied fruit with lots of blackberry, plum, sweet spice and campfire ash. Stefano Frascolla deliberately avoids any eucalyptus or camphor-like hints. Instead, he focuses on a powerful primary fruit. This is achieved through the ripeness of the fruit, the care of the vineyards and the use of oak. Syrah has a short harvest window, so timing is important. The vineyards are planted on marl soils with slate rock, typical of the mineral-rich hills around Suvereto." Wine Advocate
"Seductive aromas of violets, blackberries, blueberries, flowers and sandalwood. Sophisticated. Full-bodied with superfine tannins and good length. Stylish and great. Very well balanced. Hints of sweet tobacco and berries on the finish. You can drink it now, but it will age for decades to come." James Suckling

“Giusto di Notri” Rosso Toscana IGT 2018 · MAGNUM in OWC
The excellent Cabernet-Merlot blend Giusto di Notri is a concentrated drop with an intense, rich taste. Perfectly dosed bouquet of blackberry, redcurrant and fine herbal spice. Compact on the palate with a well-tempered balance between fruit and oak, plus a distinctive tannin, promising and powerful on the final. SUPERIORE.DE
"Deep ruby violet. Wonderfully subtle bouquet with a lot of coastal Tuscan origin. In addition to the ripe, intense fruit such as cassis, blue berries and dark cherries, there are earthy macchia notes and mineral-herbal nuances, behind which there is also a certain balsamic, liquorice and flowers. In the mouth it is intense, but with a delicate middle and vital aromatic tension. Power and refinement with fine tannin, very vertical in structure and drinking flow. Shows a sublime arc of tension." Weinwisser
"Dark shining, rich garnet. Open-hearted nose of ripe berry fruit, bright spice, very rich cherry, raspberry, slightly earthy undertone in the finish, complex. Flattering and red berry on the palate, opens promptly and clearly, still young, pleasant spicy undertone, complex and very drinkable." Falstaff
"This 2018 Giusto dei Notri seems delightfully Cabernet Franc-like, although that variety is usually the minor player in the blend. Intense cassis and leafy notes intertwine, while on the palate more concentrated blackcurrant, green herb, elegant cedar and sweet spice flavours mingle with iron and mineral notes. I love the slightly sappy Bordeaux-like notes here and there. A beautifully elegant and persistent wine." Decanter
"This gorgeous 2018 Giusto di Notri (tasted in a preview capacity before its October 2020 release date) was born beautiful, or so I am told. The wine saw little racking and a hands-off approach, because it came seamlessly together on its own in the winery. Merlot was harvested first in mid-September, and the Cabernets came off the vines in October, without a cloud in the sky. The wine shows the heft and determination you should expect, although this vintage reveals a magically delicate and elegant side with aromas of blue flowers, spice and wild plums. Again, I am reminded of purely Tuscan aromas with wild sage, grilled rosemary and macchia mediterranea shrubs that grow wild in these parts. The wine is also light and fresh on the palate with a surprising degree of weightlessness, yet the persistence is long and polished." Wine Advocate
"A rich, layered red with berries, chocolate and blueberries. Lightly smoky. It's full-bodied and layered with ripe tannins. Balanced and focused. Just a baby now, but will deliver! Best after 2023." James Suckling

“Redigaffi 25 anni” Rosso Toscana IGT 2019
25 years Redigaffi! Rare exceptional Merlot from the west of Tuscany: Deep ruby red with violet reflections. Multi-layered bouquet with hints of wild berries and blackberries, ripe cherries, but also liquorice and tobacco notes. Very structured and at the same time lively on the palate. The silky tannins underline the filigree minerality until the seemingly endless finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, radiant ruby red with garnet reflections. Another noble, concentrated and yet also multi-layered, totally floral bouquet with fragrant violets, ripe blue berries, iron and tobacco leaves, behind it liquorice and dark spices, the whole thing is framed in detail and precision. The palate is enormously dense and yet also multi-layered, arranged in detail with fine-radiated acid wireand the typical mineral-earthy notes of the terroir that remind me a little of iron and salt mines, immensely finessed, perhaps the most finessed Redigaffi ever. A very big hit." Weinwisser
"Powerful, sparkling ruby-violet. Opens with discreet spicy notes, incense and ginger, then rich dark cherries and blackberry. Shows a grandiose approach, emphatically spicy components, then opens with compact, tightly woven tannins, firm pressure on the final, still very young." Falstaff
"The 2019 Redigaffi feels elegant and less hearty compared to its previous edition. This important Merlot-based wine delivers an immediate quality of fruit, with pretty freshness that renders a very lively and vivid mouthfeel. This is a sharp and well-defined interpretation of the grape with black cherry, granite and cooling menthol-like endnotes." Wine Advocate
"Aromas of violets, blackberries and black truffles follow through to a full body with firm, silky tannins with lots of texture that’s caressing and enticing. Such polish and beauty. Very long and powerful. So much structure this year, 100% merlot. Best after 2024." James Suckling
"Owner Stefano Frascolla describes 2019 as a dream vintage and describes how the vines 'underwent all the stages of their phenolic development at the optimum times. For me, the 2019 Redigaffi is a wine of sublime harmony and balance and it reminds me very much of the 2016. It is absolutely brimming with ripe black cherry, cream and blackcurrant flavours encased in compact, super-fine tannins that are firm yet so elegant and refined. Energetic and vivacious in character, it is still not completely formed but has all the ingredients for a great future." Decanter

“Redigaffi” Rosso Toscana IGT 2020
Rare exceptional Merlot from the west of Tuscany: Deep ruby red with violet reflections. Multi-layered bouquet with hints of wild berries and blackberries, ripe cherries, but also liquorice and tobacco notes. Very structured and at the same time lively on the palate. The silky tannins underline the filigree minerality until the seemingly endless finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"This luscious, silky red is introduced by deep aromas of black cherry and blackberry, with hints of chocolate, coffee, vanilla and mineral coming into play as this builds to a long, complex aftertaste. Despite its richness, this has finesse and detail, too." Wine Spectator
"Bright, rich ruby, Intense and fine nose with notes of blackberry, wild raspberry, then mint and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate marked by hearty, dense tannin, entwined with lots of sweet melting, fine spice on the back end, finishes on sweet tobacco, but also needs some time." Falstaff
"Aromas of cigar box, black plums, cherries, mocha and toasted walnuts. Full-bodied with firm, taut and chewy tannins. Structured and deep with sophisticated oak spice character. Still tight at the moment. Yet very fine and elegant. Finesse for Redigaffi. Give it a few years to show even more. Try it in 2026." James Suckling
"The Tua Rita 2020 Redigaffi is the winery's top wine, made from Merlot. The bouquet smells of dark fruits, dried apricots, spices, leather and ashes from the campfire. You can taste the special fullness and concentration in this full-bodied red wine. On the palate, the Redigaffi is soft and approachable with rich layering and texture." Wine Advocate

“Keir” Syrah Toscana IGT 2018 · 3 bottles in OWC

“Keir” Syrah Toscana IGT 2019 · 3 bottles in gift box
Syrah meets Burgundy!" “Giusto di Notri” Rosso Toscana IGT 2015 · Double MAGNUM in OWC
Wonderfully dense red. First ripe currants and cherries, then fine spices and menthol nuances. Intense and full-bodied on the palate. The fine-meshed tannins are rounded off again by the oak wood storage. SUPERIORE.DE
"Here is a high performance wine from Stefano Frascolla and his family. The 2015 Giusto di Notri is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with smaller parts Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The wine is contemporary, complex and gorgeous from tip to toe. You get a lot of power here and generous oak-driven tones of sweet espresso, chocolate and spice that surround a succulent core of dark fruit and candied cherry. All these elements appear even bigger and bolder in this warm vintage." Wine Advocate
"This is dense and structured with beautifully polished tannins and plenty of currant and blackberry character. Full body and chewy tannins yet refined and juicy. Lots of Mediterranean herbs with the dark fruit. Blend of mostly cabernet sauvignon with merlot and cabernet franc. Pretty barrel sample. This is coming along very nicely." James Suckling
"Black cherry, creme de cassis, smoke, plum, new leather, spice, French oak and dark spice notes infuse the 2015 Giusto di Notri. Plush, succulent and totally flamboyant, the Giusto di Notri is another wine that captures the natural exuberance of Suvereto. All the elements simply fall into place. Readers should expect a rich, bold Tuscan red." Antonio Galloni

“Per Sempre” Syrah Toscana IGT 2012 · MAGNUM in OWC
Deep dark, almost impenetrable red. In the nose a whole range of mature forest berries, finely underlined by nuances of tobacco, leather and lavender. Also on the palate with a lot of fruit, powerful, but still silky and elegant. The best Syrah in Tuscany?! SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling ruby-violet. Fine, accessible nose, opened with notes of raspberry, also some sweat. On the palate a lot of sweet fruit, luxuriant, like a baroque angel, opens with fine meshed tannin, stretches a wide arch, spicy finale." Falstaff
"Aromas of dried meats, light strawberry jam and dried fruits, likeChristmas pudding. Full body with round, ripe tannins and plenty ofchocolate, vanilla and spice on the finish. Drink now or hold." JamesSuckling
"Layers of inky, black fruit, grilled herbs, smoke, menthol andmelted road tar are all layered together in the 2012 Syrah. Deep, fleshy and explosive in the glass, the Syrah is endowed with marvelouscomplexity and depth while remaining remarkably light on its feet forsuch a big wine. Hints of lavender, violets, leather and blueberry jaminform the finish. In 2012, the Syrah benefits greatly from longermacerations at lower temperatures and an overall gentler approach toextraction. The 2012 Syrah has been nothing short of remarkable on themultiple occasions I have tasted it so far." Antonio Galloni
"Tua Rita makes some of the finest Syrah in Italy and the 2012 Syrah Per Sempre confirms this statement. This is a fabulous wine that isbrimming with dark fruit intensity, beautifully polished spice, leather, tobacco and a playful touch of smoked bacon fat at the back. The winedelivers an exciting sense of momentum and it builds in character anddetermination as it glides over the palate. This gorgeous wine needs afew more years of bottle aging to complete its promising evolution." Wine Advocate

“Per Sempre” Syrah Toscana IGT 2016 · MAGNUM in OWC
Deep dark, almost impenetrable red. In the nose a whole range of mature forest berries, finely underlined by nuances of tobacco, leather and lavender. Also on the palate with a lot of fruit, powerful, but still silky and elegant. SUPERIORE.DE
"Powerful, sparkling ruby violet. Clear and present nose, of elderberries, plums and dried kitchen herbs. In the front much rich fruit, opens with velvety, dense tannin, smooth and very long, like from a casting, builds up in the back area rich, firm pressure, in the aftertaste dark chocolate, somewhat alcoholic." Falstaff
"This is an absolutely gorgeous expression, very full and generous. The 2016 Syrah Per Sempre spent a little less time in oak compared to other vintages, just 16 months, and the results are excellent. This area's Syrah always does best in hot years, such as 2009 and 2007, and this vintage is reminiscent of the latter. There is lovely black fruit, surrounded by milled black pepper and hints of charcuterie. The key to hot-vintage Syrah is to keep the extraction low: This wine saw a 20-day maceration period, but still, the Syrah Per Sempre is thick and highly concentrated, and the 15% alcohol content is unmistakable. This would be a perfect accompaniment to a filet mignon and potatoes au gratin. This Syrah is a true standout." Wine Advocate
"Tua Rita's 2016 Syrah Per Sempre is fabulous. Crème de cassis, lavender, licorice, plum and blueberry jam are all beautifully delineated. Savory, powerful and also structured, the 2016 has plenty of intensity, but it also is not as dense or obvious as has been the case in the recent past. Readers should be prepared to cellar the 2016 for at least a few years." Antonio Galloni
"This is very exotic and seductive with dark berries, incense, citronelle and hints of sandalwood. Full-bodied, chewy and intense with a powerful palate and a long finish. Very fresh and muscular syrah. Needs three or four years to come around." James Suckling

“Per Sempre” Syrah Toscana IGT 2019 · MAGNUM in OWC

The winery is clearly among those in Italy that have cult status and enjoy an excellent reputation abroad. Not far from the Tyrrhenian Sea, picturesquely situated on a hill in the small medieval village of Suvereto, the initially small artisan business has developed over time into a modern enterprise. The area under cultivation has increased continuously from two hectares at the beginning to 30 hectares at the end. Founded by Virgilio Bisti and Rita Tua, the fate of the house after the death of her father is increasingly determined by daughter Simena and her dynamic husband Stefano Frascolla. In the Val di Cornia wines are produced, which can convert the joyful character of their terroir first-class.
On the 50-hectare estate in the Maremma, the vineyards immediately behind the winery are characterised by low and moderately sloping slopes. They are planted with the red varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Sangiovese and Syrah, as well as with the white varieties Chardonnay, Trebbiano, Riesling, Traminer, Ansonica and Vermentino. Depending on the location, the density of planting varies between 5,000 and 9,000 vines per hectare. The grapes are picked by hand and sorted in the cellar. The soils are medium-heavy, stony and loamy, with clay and sand components and are also rich in mineral trace elements such as zinc and iron.
The extraordinary reputation of Tua Rita is based above all on the Redigaffi, which has become a showpiece since the nineties. It is a pure Merlot, full of character and radiating sensual artistry. However, this excellent plant is no longer without competition at the top of all the labels of the house, since other products - such as the Syrah and the Bordeaux blend Giusto di Notri - are always very well known in the professional world. All the wines of the Tuscan winery - including seven red ones - are admirable, very well structured and modern.
After the turn of the millennium, the wine cellar was expanded and redesigned for the production of high-profile products. Through minimalism and controlled inactivity, the very high quality of the noble drops is carefully preserved right into the bottle. The annual output of Tua Rita has long since left the four-digit range and has jumped to over 200,000 bottles to date. SUPERIORE.DE
"Tua Rita is the first producer to establish Suvereto as the new Bolgheri in the 1990s. The Redigaffi is perhaps Italy's greatest Merlot." Hugh Johnson.
