“Lezér” Rosso Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 2019 (BIO)

Lezer means "light" and that's how it is - in the very best sense. Bright ruby red, in the nose red berries and an interesting violet note. On the palate smoke, freshly cut wood and a fine creaminess. Until the finish a thoroughly fresh red, which just slightly cooled fits to the warm season and uncomplicated Mediterranean cuisine. The maturation in different vessels like amphora, wooden barrel and cement tank gives it an additional charm and an unmistakable profile. SUPERIORE.DE

“Fontanasanta” Manzoni Bianco Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 2019 (BIO)

A small miracle, perfectly harmonized with complex aromas of tropical fruits, apples and honey. A highly interesting white wine, which is much more than a casual pleasure, because it offers an extremely full, well structured taste. Fermented with the skins in the red wine process. Strong yellow with golden reflections. Intense fragrance of dried herbs, incense, candied lemon peel and a hint of bitter orange. Fresh citrus notes on the palate, an exciting acid bow and a strong structure lead to a very long finish, crowned by a hint of bitter almonds. Very complex and a wonderful food companion." “Fontanasanta” Nosiola Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 2017 (BIO)

Nosiola - an ancient grape variety of Trentino - was once cultivated throughout the country. Today its cultivation is limited to the mountains and valleys of Trento. The Nosiola vine produces wines of great finesse and longevity. Elisabettas Nosiola also acquires extraordinary strength and energy thanks to biodynamic methods and the ageing in amphora. Give the Nosiola time and be patient: With sufficient ventilation and a serving temperature of at least 13 degrees, this white wine reveals its full potential. SUPERIORE.DE

"The Foradori Nosiola is a one-of-a-kind wine; made from an indigenous variety of Trentino, Foradori ferments the grapes with the skins in amphorae from Spain. This is a sensual, multi-layered white that reveals greater complexity over the years." Forbes Magazine

"This wine sees extended skin contact in clay amphorae that lasts up to six months. The 2017 Nosiola Fontanasanta opens to a beautifully luminous and light appearance. In fact, you'd hardly know the wine had so much skin contact if you were only to consider its clear and transparent appearance. However, the key to reading this wine is through that extended skin maceration, because the Nosiola grape tends to offer very neutral aromas in its natural state. The chemicals in the skins add layers of candied orange, beeswax and chamomile flower. There are terpene tones of dried sage and white pepper as well." Robert Parker

Sgarzon is a solitary location, barely more than a kilometre as the crow flies from Morei, but here the Noce has deposited more sand in the upper layers of the soil, the plot is more open and thus less protected from cold winds. The grapes ripen about a week later. Teroldego Sgarzon is fabulous, filigree and at the same time full of richness and energy from the beginning to the final. The bouquet - an exciting blend of dark fruits, tobacco, flowers, liquorice, mint and minerals. On the palate very clear, pure and pure. SUPERIORE.DE

“Morei” Teroldego Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 2018 (BIO)

The Teroldego of Foradori are all a great experience. Elisabetta presses highly interesting wines from the autochthonous grape variety from the foot of the Dolomites. And all of this purely biologically and partly also in amphorae.

Morei (dark in the Trentino dialect) is an original red wine, true to the terroir, yet of irresistible elegance and finesse. Warm, dense and mineral like the soil in which it grows. Morei is protected from cold north winds by the nearby, abruptly rising rock faces. The rock stores heat during the day, which radiates to the vineyard at night. The soil here is very stony, therefore relatively warm, dense, dark, mineral, just like the wine of the same name Morei Teroldego. The average age of the vines (30 years) also contributes to its depth of character. SUPERIORE.DE

    About the winemakers
    Foradori
    Trentino-South Tyrol
    Foradori

The complex red drops of Elisabetta Foradori impressively reflect the philosophy of the highly respected winemaker. They combine typical regional grape varieties with the specific character of the vineyards and biodynamics. As unbending as she is experienced, the strong-willed landowner has never been satisfied with the favourable growing conditions of the Trentino. Rather, she has tirelessly studied and experimented with new methods in her vineyards and cellars that deviate significantly from the usual and support the rhythm of nature. Elisabetta Foradori, the rare Teroldego grape variety, native only to Trentino, has clearly become the most important grape variety in the vineyard and has helped to achieve international recognition.

As different as she works, as different is her retreat. Quiet and consistent. Her son Emilio Zierock has been responsible for vineyards and cellars since 2012. It was not clear for a long time that he would slip into the big shoes of his famous mother, but he first studied philosophy in Germany. Not quite inappropriate, because the management "FAVO - Foradori+Animali+Viticultura+Ortaggi" also a kind of philosophy. "We want to produce more than just wine. In this sense we try to close the cycle: human, animal and plant." Land in Brentonico (behind Monte Baldo in the south of Trentino) has already been bought, where the family wants to realize this vision together. Emilio and his brother Theo will take care of the winery in the future. Elisabetta Foradori takes care of the new start-ups: cows, cheese and vegetable cultivation, as well as the Ampeleia vineyard in the Maremma, which she also runs very successfully with a friend. The wines from this biodynamically cultivated winery are naturally to be found in our Tuscany programme (Maremma).

Surrounded by ancient stone walls, the Foradori Winery, certified by ICEA and Demeter since 2009, is located in the picturesque small municipality of Mezzolombardo. After the early death of her father, the exceptional Trentino winemaker took over her parents' vineyard at a young age. It prevailed despite the Cabernet wave, which was high at that time, and opted for the local tradition. The wonderful Teroldego ripens between rocky walls on lean, stony alluvial soils of the Campo Rotaliano in high plant density with low yields per hectare. For the white wines Nosiola and Manzoni Bianco, the Foradori family has leased plots in the hills northeast of the city of Trento.

Despite many years of experience and great success, the fashion trends are categorically rejecting "Grande Dame of the wines of Trentino" (Gambero Rosso) and her son Emilio are constantly refining the wines. Elisabetta Foradori decided years ago to ferment wines from the Morei, Sgarzon and Fontanasanta sites separately in clay vessels from Spain. Emilio consistently goes one step further. He eliminated practically all barriques and built his own cellar only for these amphorae. The heart of the old vaulted cellar are large wooden barrels made of various types of wood and from various renowned coopers, as well as a few steel tanks and concrete cisterns. In this way Emilio Zierock can choose for each vintage and for each individual vineyard the vessel in which he will allow the best maturation of the wine without having to intervene. The exchange went on quietly and quietly. And continues in the new - actually ancient - philosophy of the cycle of nature. Cross-generational. SUPERIORE.DE
