• "Primofiore" Rosso Veneto IGP 2018

      “Primofiore” Rosso Veneto IGP 2018

Bright ruby with light rim. Finely herbal bouquet with dark berries and delicately sweet cherry compote, plus slightly smoky notes. Builds up stately in several layers in the drink, the very elegant tannin flanks the fleshy, red berry flavour finesse-rich and velvety into a complex, long finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2018 Primofiore wafts up from the glass wonderfully fresh and fruity, showing rosy florals, wild strawberries, green peppercorns and hints of sweet spice. This is silky in texture, with a hint of savory herbs up front, before further evolving to display tart wild berries with a subtle twang of sour citrus, which frames the experience nicely. The long, perfumed finale resonates with floral-tinged red and hints of blue fruit. This blend of 50% Corvina Veronese and Corvinone to 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc is so incredibly pretty." • "A Roberto" Recioto della Valpolicella Classico DOP 2007

“A Roberto” Recioto della Valpolicella Classico DOP 2007

This exceptional Recioto was aged for 5 years in Slavonian oak. Deep dark ruby red. In the nose a beguiling extract of black cherry, dried flowers and a fine spice, in addition hints of liquorice and mint. On the palate of uniform, extremely harmonious, concentrated to the point fruit. Notes of gingerbread, bitter chocolate and black cherry glide into an almost endless finish with unforgettable reverberation. SUPERIORE.DE

"Brilliant, rich ruby with a fine garnet rim. Multi-layered nose of pickled cherries, raspberry jelly, then gingerbread and Linzer Torte. Round and lush on the palate, lots of ripe plum and dark raspberry, nice play between sweetness and tannin, opens up grippy, very balanced on the final, long finish, great drinkability despite the sweetness." Falstaff

"The 2007 Recioto della Valpolicella Classico A Roberto coats the glass with glycerol-like richness while displaying dusty dried flowers, incense, cloves, pine resin, quince and a lifting hint of camphor. It’s silky in texture yet enlivened by bright acidity, as ripe red fruits give way to hints of grilled orange, exotic brown spices and cocoa. While this is certainly sweet, clocking in at 65 grams per liter of residual sugar, it’s also wonderfully balanced and vibrant from start to finish, tapering off remarkably fresh and perfumed with a bitter twang of coffee and dark chocolate. The 2007 is a thrill-ride rendition of Quintarelli Recioto, which may not last through long-term cellaring, but it will wow collectors over the next 10 to 15 years. The Recioto A Roberto is the only wine in the portfolio that undergoes spontaneous fermentation, and it is also matured completely in small oak barrels. As this was the favorite wine and passion project of Roberto Ferrarini, Giuseppe Quintarelli’s enologist who passed in 2014, the family decided to dedicate the 2007 in his honor." Vinous

"This wine is dedicated to Roberto Ferrarini, the longtime consulting enologist who worked with Giuseppe Quintarelli and the Quintarelli family until his death in 2014. The beautiful 2007 Recioto della Valpolicella Classico A Roberto is a stunning and magical creation. The last vintage this estate made a Recioto was in 2004, and at the time of this tasting, there was no future vintage earmarked to follow this bottling. Those of you lucky enough to taste this bottle will be rewarded with carefully crafted aromas of plum and raisin with sweet baking spice, moist earth, campfire ash, fresh espresso and a touch of bitter chocolate." • "Amabile del Cerè" Passito Bianco Veneto IGP 2012

“Amabile del Cerè" Passito Bianco Veneto IGP 2012

This barrique-finished Passito is an absolute filet piece even for inveterate sweet wine connoisseurs and at the same time an exotic for the region. The Quintarelli family produces it handpicked only in the very best vintages, thus, it is a real rarity and the small edition explains also, but not only, its price. Brilliant golden yellow with amber reflections. Candied apricot, peach, orange zest and a delicate honey note on the nose, rounding out with warm components like sugar couleur, roasted almonds and rendered butter. Lies firm and ingratiating in the palate and nevertheless keeps its freshness with every sip and is of great persistence and impressive, unforgettable length. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2012 Amabile del Cerè is flat-out stunning, boasting a seductive display of baked apple, fig paste, mint, spiced orange and hints of burnt sugar. It’s weighty and textural yet full of vibrant energy, as floral-laced peach, honey and hints of buttercream give way to candied citrus and a note of brown sugar. This is unrelenting pleasure and opulence in a glass, as layer upon layer of contrasting sweet and sour notes repeatedly thrills the senses. It lingers for well over a minute with hints of tropical fruit and florals. The Amabile del Cere uses the same mix of Garganega, Trebbiano Toscano, Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Saorin as the Bianco Secco, yet it’s air-dried prior to vinification. It’s only produced in years when Quintarelli feels that the Bianco Secco is strong enough to stand on its own without the addition of the Amabile’s fruit. The 2012 should not be missed." Vinous

    • Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOP 2012

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOP 2012

A masterpiece of depth, tradition and elegance! This Amarone matures in the barrel for about eight years before it sees the light of the bottle. The archetype of the Venetian king wine presents itself multilayered and dense and of a masterly complexity. In the bouquet dried fruits, dates, nuts, earthy notes and the fine flavours of dried raisins. At the palate again this infinite depth, paired with an elegance and refinement as only the family Quintarelli masters. A red wine from a better world, in which one would like to stay longer! SUPERIORE.DE

"Sparkling, intense ruby garnet. Very appealing, concentrated nose, but also shows fresh fruit, of dark cherry, fresh plum and a hint of cardamom, nice game. Fills out the palate very great, grippy, fine tannin, opens up in many layers, ripe cherry, slightly salty notes, shows tension." Falstaff

"It’s rare that you take in the aromas of an Amarone and the first thing that comes to mind is how wonderfully fresh and perfumed it is, but that’s exactly what you’ll experience from the 2012 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico from Quintarelli. Sour cherries are complicated by notes of rose, sweet spice and hints of cedar and mint. It’s deeply textural yet precise, with a polished and pure display of purple-tinged red fruit contrasted by zesty acids and a slight herbal twang. Remarkably feminine and undeniably elegant, with a slow-mounting structure that sneaks up on you through the finale. This gentle giant tapers off long and floral, only hinting at the depths that further cellaring will bring." Vinous

    • "Alzero" Cabernet Veneto IGP 2011

      “Alzero” Cabernet Veneto IGP 2011

100% Cabernet Franc according to the traditional Ripasso method! This wine was created by Giuseppe in honor of his grandmother Franca and has a definite Quintarelli style. Dark ruby with brownish highlights. On the nose, sweet aromas of dark red fruits, damp forest floor and hints of noble winter truffle. On the palate, highly concentrated, punchy and with beautiful suppleness and finely granulated tannin. Its dense body and immense complexity opens up depth, aromatic diversity with each successive sip, and a finely sweet Amarone style to boot! No playful experiment of a quality fanatic, but a serious, finesse-rich wine with a clear signature and terrificaging potential! SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2011 Alzero Cabernet is a bit backward today, displaying mocha-infused black and red currants offset by hints of sour citrus and animal musk, plus a dusty floral and incense component that is not quite ready to come into the foreground. It’s velvety in feel yet medium in body, showing tart wild berries and exotic inner spices, all framed by a core of vibrant acidity. For all of its primary intensity, the 2011 maintains balance, leaving a glycerol-like coating of tart cherry and blackberry under an air of tobacco and sweet herbs. There’s a lot of immediate pleasure to be found within the 2011, but it should also excel over medium-term cellaring." Vinous

    About the winemakersGiuseppe Quintarelli Veneto
    Giuseppe Quintarelli

In the house of Quintarelli, each wine is given the time that is actually needed to later live up to the traditional name. In 60 years, thanks to his many secrets of success, the founder Giuseppe Quintarelli formed one of the most legendary wineries in Veneto. Since then, nothing has been left to chance. The commitment to quality includes every single step of production: from the vines to the oak barrels to the corks, the selected bottles and the hand-written label templates.

Giuseppe died in 2012 and the founder's considerable legacy is carried on today with the same passion by his daughter Fiorenza, son-in-law Giampaolo and grandsons Francesco and Lorenzo. North of Verona, narrow roads wind through the countryside to the small, well-hidden winery in the village of Negrar. A few hectares of vines thrive here in the best sites of the Valpolicella area on limestone and basalt soils.

The list of grape varieties planted is long, but yields are low: thanks to great skill, the Corvina, Molinara, Rondinella and Corvinone varieties produce outstanding Valpolicella Classico Superiore, unique Recioto della Valpolicella and particularly precious Amarone. For this purpose, selected grapes dry for months until fermentation in well-ventilated drying chambers (appassimento method) and thus experience a unique concentration of aromas.

The winery is considered one of the first to also use international grape varieties in the Valpolicella area and created great wines right away. In addition to the noble red wine selection, autochthonous white grape varieties such as Garganega, Trebbiano and Saorin meet a small amount of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc for the Bianco Secco IGP and the sweet Amabile del Cerè.

Giuseppe Quintarelli was a perfectionist in every sense of the word: the great "Maestro del Veneto" stipulated that his Amarone della Valpolicella should be produced only in the best years. His family says they are all obsessed with wine quality, and it is against this background that it becomes clear why these wines are still in a league of their own today.

Thanks to elaborate and largely manual production methods, the Guiseppe Quinatrelli family winery brings amazingly fresh, full-bodied and long-lasting wines to the market. This name is nothing less than the ultimate indicator of handcrafted wine of uncompromising quality, which of course cannot be missing from our portfolio. SUPERIORE.DE
