“Merì" Vermentino di Sardegna DOC 2021
The single-varietal Vermentino Meri presents itself stylish and crisp. Wonderful notes of lemon, honey, orange and apple in the fragrance. Fresh and lively, but at the same time full and intense. The grapes are cooled in the vineyard immediately after harvest and are protected from oxidation - this way they preserve their best possible aroma and the wine gets a richer, more complex bouquet. “Korem” Bovale Isola dei Nuraghi IGT 2018
Korem is a wine that perfectly interprets the Argiolas family philosophy: Innovation with deep respect for Sardinian tradition. A wine born from the desire to enhance and perfect the Bovale vine. Bovale is a low-yielding grape variety, as it requires well-ventilated soils with excellent exposure. It is refined in Korem by the addition of Carignano and Cannonau, two other traditional Sardinian grape varieties.
Korem shines in deep ruby red from the glass. Intense berry aromas on the nose, velvety, full-bodied, warm and round on the palate. A top wine that impressively reflects the great potential of the family winery. SUPERIORE.DE
"Wonderful aromas of Mediterranean flowers such as rosemary and lavender with red fruits such as plums and cherries. Full-bodied with firm and polished tannins that are intense and give serious length and focus to the finish. Give this time to soften but a beautiful red already. Try after 2023." James Suckling

With the 2017 vintage, Korem celebrates its 20th anniversary. It is a wine that perfectly interprets the Argiolas family philosophy: Innovation with deep respect for Sardinian tradition. A wine born from the desire to enhance and perfect the Bovale vine. Bovale is a low-yielding grape variety, as it requires well-ventilated soils with excellent exposure. Korem shines in deep ruby red from the glass. Intense berry aromas on the nose, velvety, full-bodied, warm and round on the palate. A top wine that impressively reflects the great potential of the family winery. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2017 Korem is a sweetly scented and perfumed effort presenting notes of crushed black cherries and spicy oak front and center. Its textures are velvety and rich in feel, with polished black fruits offset by hints of bitter espresso bean and tobacco. A fine coating of tannin lingers through the youthfully structured finale, along with hints of plum, licorice and lavender." Vinous
"A juicy, plummy red with clove, ash and smoked-meat character. It's full and layered with lots of fruit and richness. Round tannins. Some walnut undertones." James Suckling

“Turriga” Isola dei Nuraghi IGT 2015 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC
A typical Sardinian wine with a distinctive character and, according to experts, probably the best red wine in Sardinia. Elegant bouquet of plums with a beautiful vanilla note and a touch of tobacco. Excellently structured and long lasting on the finish. Like every year a masterpiece! SUPERIORE.DE
"Enticing aromas of ripe dark-skinned fruit, fragrant purple flower, Mediterranean scrub and dark spice escape the glass. On the firmly structured palate, taut fine-grained tannins accompany Marasca cherry, cassis, tobacco and star anise. The assertive finish closes on a note of roasted coffee bean." Wine Enthusiast
"Bright, deep red-ruby. Precise but restrained aromas of strawberry nectar, raspberry, violet and licorice. At once fresh and powerful, with harmonious acidity lifting the youthfully tight structure and supporting creamy ripe red and black fruit flavors complicated by tar and herbs. Long, serious and brooding, this is distinctly more powerful than the usual style of Turriga. I’m not usually a fan of needlessly bigger, tannic wines with little grace or balance, but this Turriga is at once powerful and refined. The very long, floral finish displays excellent focus." Vinous
"Very spicy indeed with brambleberries, earth, vanilla, ash, tar, sous bois, cassis bush, glazed dark cherries and dried meat. Full-bodied and very dense on the palate, which is surrounded by plush, chocolate-studded dark fruit and coated with layers of earth and spices. Despite this, the tannins remain grainy and the acidity tightly wrapped up." James Suckling

A typical Sardinian wine with a distinct character and, according to experts, probably the best red wine in Sardinia. Elegant bouquet of plums with a beautiful vanilla note and a hint of tobacco. Excellent structure and long finish. Like every year, a masterpiece! SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2016 Isola dei Nuraghi Turriga is intense, spicy and packed full of tart blackberry and cherry, further complicated by shavings of cedar and animal musk. It's silky and polished in feel, displaying an unexpected elegance. The dark fruits and exotic spice give way to grippy tannins and minerals toward the close. The palate aches under its youthful tension, with notes of black currants, bitter coffee and tobacco lasting for well over a minute. The 2016 Turriga will need some time in the cellar to show its best, but it will be worth the wait." Vinous
"A lovely, polished red with brambleberry, chocolate, walnut and light-clove undertones. Some dried mushroom. It's full-bodied with a tight, firm tannin structure and a long, sleek finish. Cracked black pepper, too. Dense, tight and powerful. One of the most structured ever from here." James Suckling

When Antonio Argiolas carefully selected his vineyards in the 1930s according to soil, climate and altitude, he was already very far ahead of the Sardinian winegrowers of his time. For independent of the lucrative mass wine production, he directed the attention of his winery more and more towards quality in order to produce top wines in Sardinia that were full of character and affordable, which years later – and against all expectations – conquered the wine markets of the world.
The clever winery owner also got involved in a project with the successful Piemontese oenologist Giacomo Tachis at the end of the 1980s, which ultimately led his company to where Antonio himself would never have expected it to be: the Argiolas winery is now one of the pioneers of Italian quality winegrowing and has contributed significantly to the rapid growth of the Sardinian premium wine sector and its export success.
From elegant Nuragus sparkling wines to structured reds, fine sweet wines and single-varietal Vermentino, which nowhere else produce such fruit-intensive versions, Sardinian wine culture and impressive varietal diversity are on full display in Argiolas' collection. Territorial identity has become even more central to the production philosophy in recent years, particularly under the guidance of talented oenologist Mariano Murru.
The wide range of wines goes far beyond tempting everyday wines and also offers drops for special occasions, such as the legendary red wine Turriga, created in 1988 in collaboration with Giacomo Tachis. The selected grape varieties Cannonau and Carignano give this blend its clear and powerful structure, while the Bovale and Malvasia Nera grapes provide floral-balsamic aromas and an unmistakable spiciness, which is why Turriga is considered the best red wine in Sardinia by many wine critics.
Argiolas' vineyards are all located in the south of the island, between Serdiana and the Golfo di Palmas, where the Mediterranean climate with mild winter months and warm, dry summers favours the ripening of the grapes. And depending on the growing zone, the Sardinian grapes are cultivated in an environmentally friendly way on sand, clay, sandstone or marl soils.
Argiolas still invests in new vineyard sites and experiments with various autochthonous grape varieties of the Mediterranean island in order to remain true to the origin-based wine style. The family winery is located 20 kilometres north of the capital Cagliari and is now run by the sons Franco and Giuseppe Argiolas. They are also actively helped by their children Valentina, Francesca and Antonio, who are just as aware of the great potential of Sardinian wines as their brilliant grandfather Antonio once was. "Numerous labels are produced, all of them convincing, which besides ready-to-drink, young wines also contain long-lasting selections, as there are only few others on the island." Gambero Rosso
