    About the winemakers

    Building on a strong sense of family, this winery has always been able to continuously expand the winery and reputation of its founder Antonio Argiolas. The establishment of the Argiolas winery, some 20 kilometres northeast of Cagliari in the small municipality of Serdiana in the southern centre of Sardinia, was prepared by Antonio under very difficult conditions after the end of the Second World War, before production could finally begin in 1938. After the European Economic Community had offered money to winegrowers at the end of the 1970s, when they reduced or even cleared their vineyards due to overproduction in other countries, the founder of the estate, who was regarded as a mastermind and wise businessman, divided the land between his sons Franco and Giuseppe. The brothers not only invested in vineyards and cellar technology, but also strengthened their ties with the legendary oenologist Giacomo Tachis. Since then, the proven wine connoisseur has helped the Argiolas family to further improve the quality of their fine wines and very beautiful sites.

    Today, the fourth generation of the family, Antonio's granddaughters Valentina (with husband Elia) and Francesca, are working in the Cantine Argiolas, which includes the estates of Serdiana, Sisini, Sa Tanca, Vigne Vecchie and Porto Pino, in an exemplary manner and with great perseverance. The company, which has now grown on more than 230 hectares of vineyards and is ecologically responsible, is one of the largest wineries on the island in terms of quality consistency, development work and experiments in the vineyard, as well as the grape variety tradition, vinification technique and production quantity. Here every participant has his own little empire - from the vineyard to sales and marketing.

    The Argiolas family prefers the traditional Alberello system for cultivation. The most important indigenous grape varieties are represented in the vineyard - from the main Sardinian Cannonau grape to other indigenous varieties such as the red Carignano, Monica and Bovale Sardo and the white varieties Vermentino, Nuragus, Nasco and Malvasia Bianca. The great drinking pleasure drops from Argiolas are not only typically Sardinian, but also of international standard, which is proven by numerous prizes and awards. Even the baseline can convince not least because of its favorable price-quality ratio.

    The Argiolas winery is also socially oriented: The latest wines, Iselis Bianco and Iselis Rosso, produced in barriques by cellar master Mariano Murru, support humanitarian projects for disadvantaged people in distant countries. SUPERIORE.DE
