• "Passi di Orma" Rosso Bolgheri DOC 2018

“Passi di Orma” Rosso Bolgheri DOC 2018

Strong ruby red. Clearly defined bouquet with beautiful herbal spice. In the glass then a deep dark fruit and a very round body, fine acid play and polished tannin. A classic representative of the noble Bolgheri appellation with an extremely harmonious overall impression. Absolutely ventilate. SUPERIORE.DE

"The Orma 2018 Bolgheri Rosso Passi di Orma opens to dark and rich fruit with blackberry, plum and sweet prune. Those layers of robust and succulent fruit are followed by generous layers of smoke, tar and campfire ash from the oak. This captures a flashy and more contemporary side of the Bolgheri wine identity, showing enough power, intensity and opulence to match up with your favorite cut of steak." Robert Parker

"Yum. A rich, dense red with currant, chocolate and walnut aromas and flavors. It’s full-bodied and tannic, yet polished. Direct finish. This needs time to soften. Second wine of Orma. Better after 2022." James Suckling

    • "Rapace" Rosso Toscana IGT 2018

      “Rapace” Rosso Toscana IGT 2018

Uccelliera is not only famous for its Brunello, which is outstanding every year, but also the Rapace Rosso IGT, which has meanwhile become an icon, shows the high quality with which the winery has been delighting wine connoisseurs all over the world for decades. Powerful dark ruby red, the aroma spectrum skilfully coordinated from a mix of dark red cherries, plums, liquorice, smoke, spices and menthol. The beautifully cherry-like primary fruit is embedded in a warm texture, the silky tannin skillfully takes over on the sidelines and the wine storms into a long, nuanced and delicately mineral finish. • "Piastraia" Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2017

      “Piastraia” Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2017

Piastraia fully corresponds to the classic image of a great Bolgheri Rosso Superiore. Made from a quarter each of Merlot, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, it fills the glass with its intense bouquet of fruit and a hint of leather aromas. Powerful, concentrated and pure taste. SUPERIORE.DE

"Very coherent wine of Cabernet, Merlot, Syrah and Sangiovese; multi-faceted bouquet of wild berries, licorice and dried flowers; grippy attack, the fine-grained tannins in perfect balance with the acidity, the finish long and linear. Also very successful in this warm vintage." Vinum

"Rich garnet. Very spicy nose, underpinned with green pepper and light leather, lush cherry fruit, some plum, then chalky tones and ripe cassis again, layered and rich. Equally full-bodied on the palate, albeit with a fine drinking flow, compact, tightly woven tannin gives support, still young, very good foresight." Falstaff

"Smooth, this evokes black cherry and blackberry flavors gently singed by earth and spice flavors. Light tannins gird the finish, with a bittersweet chocolate feel." Wine Spectator

"The 2017 Piastraia is a super-expressive wine in this range that will drink well right out of the gate. Ripe red/purplish fruit, sweet spice and floral notes are all wrapped together in this attractive, mid-weight wine. Time in the glass brings out an attractive, bright upper register, while silky tannins add quite a bit of appeal." Vinous

"The Michele Satta 2017 Bolgheri Superiore Piastraia offers intensity and bold fruit with plenty of rich blackberry, dried cherry and toasted spice. The is a full and generous wine from a hot vintage that does not hold back in term of fruit density or intensity. It would welcome some pork-filled ravioli. The soft tannins add to the wine's balanced full-bodied approach." Robert Parker

"A full, rich red with beautiful softness and balance. It’s impressively tight and focused with polish and beauty. Layered and bright. Give this some time to come together, but very well done for the vintage. Better after 2022." James Suckling

    • "Guidalberto" Toscana IGT 2017

      “Guidalberto” Toscana IGT 2017

Guidalberto has not been in the shadow of his "super-father" Sassicaia for a long time. Since he is vinified from his own vineyards, most of which also grow in the monopollage Sassicaia DOC, he has grown beyond himself. Spicy and earthy bouquet with hints of tobacco, clove and lavender, dense and juicy on the palate with fresh red and black berry fruit. The tannins are well dosed and the finish is complex with a majestic elegance, which becomes even more refined with the years of bottle maturity. SUPERIORE.DE

"Playful spicy-fruity flower; pithy on the palate with firm tannins, the reverberation of rich notes of black cherries and bitter almonds. A refined second wine from the Sassicaia producer." Vinum

"Deep black-purple. Opulent, plum, cassis and some fresh earth. Clove, cinnamon and some toasted almond oak. Much fuller-bodied than the Le Difese, with ripe plum and cassis fruit. Plenty of polish here, though pretty embryonic in form. Very fine-grained tannins, though not the greatest density of them. The fruit slips away quite quickly, but there’s a long line of spice and savouriness that does come through. Perhaps once bottled, the fruit will hold through as far too." Jancis Robinson

"The 2017 Guidalberto is a stellar wine. Rich, ample and resonant, the 2017 possesses superb depth and textural richness, both signatures of this warm, dry vintage. I suppose in the most technical sense, the 2017 is not the last word on complexity. But it is supremely delicious, it is that kind of wine opened and finished quickly - and of course, the ultimate goal of a wine is to deliver pleasure. The 2017 Guidalberto hits it out of the park on that level." VINOUS

"A youthful, sinewy red, with plum, black cherry, cedar and spice flavors wrapped in a thick texture and mouthcoating tannins. Stays vivid and long on the finish, where the sweet, ripe fruit prevails." Wine Spectator

"A blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the 2017 Guidalberto appeals to the more informal side of sophisticated drinking. By that I mean it makes a great choice at lunch or for family dinners. Despite the accessibility and dense concentration of the fruit, especially evident in a warm vintage such as this, the wine's pedigree is evident in terms of the careful management of the structure and acidity. My samples were a little closed at first and needed some extra coaxing. Once open, the wine shows the dark fruit and exuberance of this hot vintage in Tuscany." Robert Parker

"Subtle aromas of cedar, cassis, tobacco and a whiff of camphor slowly take shape in the glass. A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, the tightly knit, elegant palate delivers dried black cherry, red currant, blood orange and licorice while fine-grained tannins provide tight support. It closes on a coffee-bean note." Wine Enthusiast

"Fresh herbs, cedar, black raspberries, orange peel and citrus. Very balanced and focused on the palate, thanks to cutting acidity, but with firm, chewy tannins that envelop a plethora of red fruit." James Suckling

    • "Guidalberto" Toscana IGT 2018

      “Guidalberto” Toscana IGT 2018

Since Guidalberto is vinified from its own vineyards, most of which are also growing in the Sassicaia DOC monopoly position, San Guido's "second wine" has outgrown itself. Spicy-earthy bouquet with hints of tobacco, clove and lavender, on the palate dense and juicy with fresh red and black berry fruit. The tannins well-dosed and the finish complex with a majestic elegance that refines even further with the years of bottle ageing. SUPERIORE.DE

"There is so much Tuscan tang to this wine that I wouldn't be remotely surprised if someone told me it contained a little of Tuscany's signature grape Sangiovese. This is appetising rather than luscious. Nicely balanced and much more accessible now than the current 2017 vintage of Sassicaia. No more than medium bodied. Clean and neat." Jancis Robinson

"Made with 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, this smooth red opens with aromas of cassis, vanilla, violet and a whiff of bell pepper. Racy and delicious, the linear palate doles out juicy red currant, black cherry and vanilla set against lithe tannins. Bright acidity keeps it balanced and fresh." Wine Enthusiast

"The 2018 Guidalberto, tasted from an approximate blend from barrel, is positively stellar. I can only hope that the bottled wine is as fresh, vibrant and nuanced as this sample. A rush of black cherry, plum, spice, leather and licorice graces the 2018 with striking depth and nuance. Light on its feet and deep, the 2018 has a lot to offer. In many years, Guidalberto can be a rather rich wine, but in 2018 it is very closely aligned with the house style." Vinous

"A deft and bright blend to serve with a platter of creamy Camembert wedges, the 2018 Guidalberto showing a smooth and silky delivery of aromas with black fruit and sour cherry backed by spice, pressed flower and tilled earth. These are fragrant and delicate results fitted to a medium-weight finish that is driven by freshness and elegant tannins." Robert Parker

"San Guido’s 2018 Guidalberto is soft, open-knit and inviting. Sweet dark cherry, cinnamon, licorice and new leather fill out the layers in an undeniably attractive Guidalberto that will drink beautifully upon release. Finesse and elegance are the signatures. The 2018 is a terrific choice for drinking now, while some of the more powerful vintages of Guidalberto come together, or while waiting for its sibling, Sassicaia." Vinous

    • "Terra di Monteverro" Toscana IGT 2016

“Terra di Monteverro” Toscana IGT 2016

Deep dark cherry red with violet glow at the edge. In the nose aromas of spices like rosemary and thyme, in addition fruit notes of black currant and cherry. On the palate blackberry, cherry, fresh plum and cranberry, wonderful cassis notes and dark chocolate on the long final. Modern Tuscan, stylistically rigorous after French pattern. SUPERIORE.DE

"Intense, dark glowing ruby red with delicate purple and brightening rims. In the nose first clearly after violets and blood orange, then rich cherry and blackberries, softly after graphite. Dense in the drink with dark fruity play, spreads out nicely, slightly grippy tannin, compact in approach and course." Falstaff

"This is showing a plethora of primary fruit at the moment, such as elderberries and brambleberries. But there’s some real complexity beneath, featuring roasted herbs and nettles. Full-bodied with impressive fruit, but firm tannins to back it up." James Suckling

"The 2016 Terra di Monteverro is a great choice if you love blended reds from sunny Tuscany. This pretty expression is dark, exuberant, rich and fruit-forward. However, the wine is also characterized by that sense of focus and linearity that is the very definition of the classic 2016 vintage. Blackberry and black currant segue to spice, tar and smoked cedar." Robert Parker

The 2016 is deep, dense and full of character. It is also easy to drink with minimal cellaring. • "Madre" Rosso Toscana IGT 2016

      “Madre” Rosso Toscana IGT 2016

Madre is an elegant and yet juicy cuvée of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon matured in barrique. Its rich, slightly tobacco and leather coloured bouquet and the impressive, persistent taste give it great originality and character. SUPERIORE.DE

"Plenty of tar, earth, dried red plums, redcurrants, dried cedar, tobacco, vanilla and dark chocolate. Full body, ripe and round tannins and a chewy, drying finish." James Suckling

"This is a blend of equal parts Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2016 Madre most definitely benefits from extra oxygen (I tasted the wine at different intervals after I had first opened the bottle). It's still a bit tight and nervous at this young stage of its life, and this of course bodes well for the aging future of the wine. In fact, I recommend you wait a year or two before pulling the cork. This is a cool and elegant vintage that delivers sharp lines of blue and blackberry fruit with subtle tones of spice and underbrush. The acidity is noticeable, and the wine offers tart fruit nuances on the close. Give it time to unwind in the glass." Robert Parker

    • "Il Borro" Rosso Toscana IGT 2017 (BIO)

“Il Borro” Rosso Toscana IGT 2017 (BIO)

The top wine of the eponymous winery presents itself exemplary and quasi as a reference for many other so-called Super Tuscan of the region. Deep ruby red with light red reflections. In the bouquet dark fruits, spices, herbs, some leather and a fine tarry note. On the palate, the flavors then unfold powerful and concentrated, yet it glides velvety with a wonderfully balanced acidity-tannin ratio in a rich, well-proportioned and long finish. SUPERIORE.DE

    • "Ilatraia" Rosso Maremma IGT 2015

      “Ilatraia” Rosso Maremma IGT 2015

Ilatraia was born in 2002 and is a true Supertuscan from international grape varieties that ripen optimally in the dry summers of the Maremma, even without irrigation.

Deep dark ruby. Opulent nose of red berries, pleasant smoky note and fine herbal spice. On the palate opulent and round, the fine tannins give the wine a delicate but certain structure and the necessary seriousness until the long, soft finish. The well integrated wood and the fruit of the Cabernet grape find an exciting symbiosis here in a very harmonious way with the rather strict and taut Petit Verdot style. The wine gets better with every edition and 2015 was a perfect year with an optimal climate and ideal ripening point of the grapes. SUPERIORE.DE

"Velvety, rich ruby violet. Very clear, fruity nose, with notes of blueberry, dark currant and forest raspberry. Round and supple at the base, opens with fine-meshed tannin, polished and surprisingly fresh, with an aftertaste of sweet enamel." Falstaff

"The 2015 Ilatraia is a dark, fleshy wine. Blackberry jam, espresso, grilled herbs, menthol, licorice and lavender infuse this fleshy, wonderfully resonant Maremma blend. Powerful and racy in the glass, the 2015 offers plenty of near and medium-term appeal. Depth and a real sense of gravitas infuse this succulent red from the Tuscan coast."Antonio Galloni

"The 2015 Ilatraia is a drop-dead gorgeous blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Petit Verdot and 20% Cabernet Franc with all fruit coming from Brancaia's Maremma vineyards along the Tuscan coast. This warm vintage has shaped an exuberant and intense red wine that hits the palate with lavish richness. The complex bouquet is composed of dark fruit elements that are contrasted seamlessly against spice, sweet tobacco and campfire ash. Yet the mouthfeel is never too heavy or overextracted. There's a lot to enjoy here." Robert Parker

"Aromas of black licorice and blackberry. Blueberry, too. This is so complex. Full body, extremely silky and polished with lovely tannins. Deep and long. It seems powerful and rich yet ends so balanced and refined. A blend of cabernet sauvignon, petit verdot and cabernet franc." James Suckling

      “Ilatraia” Rosso Maremma IGT 2016

Opulent and round on the palate, the fine tannins give the wine a delicate but determined framework and the necessary seriousness until the long, soft finish. The well-integrated wood and the fruit of the Cabernet grape find an exciting symbiosis here in a very harmonious way with the rather strict and tight Petit Verdot style. "Bright, deep ruby red. Opened with lots of crisp, present berry fruit, some cassis, raspberry and goji berries. Powerful, gripping tannin on the palate, lots of ripe fruit, some rough wood in the final." Falstaff

"This blend of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc features aromas of black-skinned berry, toasted hazelnut and underbrush. The structured palate delivers blackberry jam, toasted oak, licorice and tobacco alongside polished tannins." Wine Enthusiast

"The 2016 Ilatraia is laced with blackberry jam, grilled herbs, leather, bittersweet chocolate, espresso, smoke and menthol. Unctuous on the palate, with tremendous richness, Ilatraia is a decidedly heady, concentrated wine. All of the richness, power and breadth of Maremma come through loud and clear in this bold, beautifully intense Tuscan red." Vinous

"This is really impressive with roasted blackberries, thyme, forest floor, pine needles, conifer, iodine, mint and light vanilla. Powerful and muscular, but agile and floral, this sweeps through decadent layers of dark fruit, while keeping the linear acidity constantly in view. Long and very structured on the finish." James Suckling

"A blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Petit Verdot and 20% Cabernet Franc, the 2016 Ilatraia is a terrific, full-bodied expression from Tuscany. If you love this combination of full-throttle grapes, I suggest you try this rendition. It tends to be more delicate and nuanced at the edges compared to a similar blend from a New World wine region, like say, California. The wine is contoured and full but never heavy. Indeed, the aromas of blackberry, spice and tar remain surprisingly fresh and bright. This is a big wine to be sure, but there is a lot of tonic energy packed tight within." Robert Parker

    • "Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia" Bolgheri DOC 2018

“Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia” Bolgheri DOC 2018

Beguiling fragrance of sweet, dark berries with hints of cassis, cedar and antique leather. Very balanced and elegant on the palate, of beautiful viscosity with an elegant melting. Fine-meshed tannin, restrained mineral tones and a wonderfully fresh and polished fruit accompany into a remarkable finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright, rich garnet. Noble but restrained on the nose, a hint of mint, ripe wild berries. On the palate then extremely polished, excellent use of wood, with pressure, tightly woven, spreads elegantly, punchy, long and compact." Falstaff

"The 2018 Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia is everything a second wine should be. Open-knit and silky, with impeccable balance and tons of sheer appeal, the 2018 is exquisite today. I would prefer to drink it on the early side in order to capture all of its freshness." Vinous

    • "Concerto" Rosso Toscana IGT 2016

      “Concerto” Rosso Toscana IGT 2016

The Concerto was born in 1981, a period in which Italian viticulture has dynamically changed. The untapped potential was recognized and experimented with new varieties and for the first time successfully with international grape varieties. Produced from 80% Sangiovese and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, the Rosso Toscana Concerto was one of the pioneers of the later Supertoscan phenomenon and long belonged to the elite wines of the region.

Rich bouquet of red currant, cherry, spices and a delicate vanilla note. On the palate infinitely much fruit, dense and full-bodied, in the background velvety soft tannin and a very discreet acid wire. SUPERIORE.DE

"Intense, bright ruby red. In the nose elegant and inviting, many dark berries, light liquorice, finest spice. In the drink very pleasant with tightly woven tannin, large structure and yet light-footed playing, stretches a wide bow. This wine lives up to its name." Falstaff

"A flamboyant and flavorful red with lots of plum and cherry character. Full body, soft tannins and a fruity finish. Lovely, fruity wine with a caressing structure." James Suckling

"The Cabernet Sauvignon element comes through nicely with dark fruit, spice and some grilled herb. The grape gives the wine a heavier and more concentrated center of gravity. However, the soul and style of the wine is driven by the freshness and delicate aromas of the Sangiovese." Robert Parker

"The 2016 Concerto di Fonterutoli, the estate's blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, is dense, plush and explosive, with superb depth and notable persistence. Super-ripe black cherry, lavender, spice, menthol, licorice and rose petal build in a rich, dramatic wine endowed with superb depth, intensity and pedigree. All the best elements of the house style are on display in this sumptuous, modern Tuscan red. Two thousand sixteen is a terrific vintage for the Concerto. I loved it." Vinous

      “Oreno” Rosso Toscana IGT 2015

Shiny, deep ruby violet. Compact nose with intense notes of dark currants, blackberries and tobacco, exciting play. Shows warmth and fire, juicy, rich fruit and unfolds with fine-grained, dense tannin and ends with a furious finale to noble dark chocolate. SUPERIORE.DE

"Plenty of blackcurrant, blackberry and dark chocolate character with oyster shell and walnut undertones. Full body, extremely tight and structured with blueberry and light vanilla and coffee highlights. A gorgeous Oreno." James Suckling

"Rich and dense, but elegant, with a dusty swath of tannins coating the finish. Black cherry, black currant and mineral flavors hold court, with a fresh, balanced feel on the finish." Wine Spectator

"The 2015 Oreno is fabulous. Rich, sumptuous and yet very much medium in body, the 2015 has it all going on. Silky tannins and juicy, pliant fruit add to the wine's considerable appeal. Succulent dark cherry, plum, chocolate, mocha and licorice infuse this racy, showy Tuscan red. The 2015 is one of the best vintages of Oreno I have tasted of late." Antonio Galloni

    • "Castello di Bolgheri" Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2017

“Castello di Bolgheri” Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2017

Deep dark ruby red, in the nose a rich fruit concentrate of cherry, elderberries, wild berries and in addition a pinch of pepper. On the palate wonderful harmony of supple tannin and fine acidity, plus subtle notes of maraschino cherry and spices. In the long lasting, very elegant finish fine roasted flavours. SUPERIORE.DE

"Successful cuvée of a lot of Cabernet Sauvignon and some Franc: Intriguing bouquet of blueberry jam, liquorice and mint; on the palate very supple yet with character, the tannins spot-on, the finish persistently balsamic-dark berry. Convinces with its complexity." Vinum

"Bright, rich garnet. In the nose fine spicy notes, noble blackberry, a breath underwood, then some incense, in the reverberation again fine fruit. Shows emphatically juicy on the palate with clear, salty fruit, slight pressure, stretches coherently across the tongue, juicy again on the back end, exciting food companion to grilled steak." Falstaff

"This savory, full-bodied blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc features enticing aromas of woodland berry, underbrush and star anise. The concentrated, polished palate delivers black currant, licorice, tobacco and a touch of nutmeg alongside fine-grained tannins." Wine Enthusiast

"Castello di Bolgheri is one of the most representative estates in Bolgheri. The winery is within the walls of the village, the vineyards around 70 metres above sea level, 'sopra strada', in the heart of the appellation. The 2017, deep crimson in the glass, shows great intensity on the nose with ripe cassis, incense and an almost Port-like minerality. Velvety and broad, it's a bit hollow on the mid-palate and austere on the finish, but produces a ripe and chewy wine with a savoury, mineral finish." Decanter

"I had tasted this wine in a preview capacity one year ago. Now on the market, the Castello di Bolgheri 2017 Bolgheri Superiore hits the nail on the head. This estate is on a slow growth trajectory, showing results that deliver more satisfaction with each year that I taste them. It can't be faulted for being overripe or too astringent like some of its peers. Instead, the wine shows smooth fruit integration and solid background notes of blackberry, spice and cured tobacco, worthy of a sampler plate of wild boar charcuterie." Robert Parker

"Wonderful depth and finesse for the vintage with a medium to full body and currant, tobacco and dried-earth character. It’s very polished with pretty, refined tannins and a long, long finish. Shows class and subtlety for the vintage. Drink after 2022, but already a joy to taste." James Suckling

    • "Picconero" Rosso Toscana IGT 2015

      “Picconero” Rosso Toscana IGT 2015

Deep dark, impenetrable ruby with violet reflections. Opulent, warm bouquet of fully ripe cherries, plum, liquorice, young leather with a touch of French oak spice. On the palate it is powerful and firm, with a brilliant structure and firm tannins. With increasing aeration it reveals its good structure and distinguished elegance. Picconero never seems wide or too heavy until the long finish, but convinces completely with a terrific energy and complexity. SUPERIORE.DE

"Deep dark, rich garnet. Delicate graphite in the nose, smoky, then after ripe cassis, dark chocolate, blackberries, salt. Very balanced palate, discreetly noticeable use of wood, yet elegant, powerful, with lots of juice, full-bodied, put it away and enjoy it in five years." Falstaff

"Aromas of violets, lavender and blackberries follow through to a full body with firm and chewy tannins. A lot of wood showing now, but will come together with age. Try after 2021." James Suckling

"Packed with sweet, ripe blackberry and blueberry fruit, this red is lush and polished, accented by rosemary, thyme, graphite and oak spice notes. Dusty tannins line the finish." Wine Spectator

"The 2015 Picconero Tenuta Montebello is a blend of 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc that pours out lots of dark fruit and plum. This is a very nice, juicy and balanced wine with good thickness, a great match for iron steak and blue cheese butter sauce. In general, I've found these wines from Tolini to be top notch, with succulent tones of ripe fruit and pretty intensity. This one is at the top of the pyramid." Robert Parker

    • "Argentiera" Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2017

      “Argentiera” Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2017

Full-bodied, noble cuvée from the vineyard of the same name: aromas of red fruits, a light hint of roasted coffee, pepper and animal notes, an excellent tannin structure and a beautiful acidity give the "Bordeaux from Bolgheri" its exceptional independence and great elegance. SUPERIORE.DE

"Rich, dark ruby. Opens on the nose with notes of tobacco and some juniper, then lots of dark berry fruit, deep. Full and creamy on the palate, opens with grippy, pithy tannins, hints of licorice and wild berries, lots of sweet melting on the final." Falstaff

"This is a beautiful wine that is climbing fast on a podium of the best in Bolgheri. The wine opens to dark and sultry fruit with blackberry and dried currant. Those fruit tones are followed by spice, campfire ash and potting soil. The wine works up great momentum on the bouquet, but we get those astringent 2017 tannins on the close." Robert Parker

"Despite its position at the southern end of the appellation Tenuta Argentiera is one of the highest estates in Bolgheri, with vineyards between 120 and 240 metres above sea level providing the grapes for this wine. The altitude increases the night and day average temperature differences, improving phenolic ripeness. The conversion from cordon to guyot training is increasing the freshness of the grapes. In 2017 the winery decided to avoid the production of Ventaglio, the 100% Cabernet Franc cru. Argentiera, however, is really good, confirming the usual grace of the wine with more density and power. On the nose a funky note of merde de poule follows clean, dark fruits with buttery and slightly leafy aromas, while the firm yet ripe palate ends with a dark chocolate character." Decanter

"This is a big and impressive wine. No denying. Full body with such depth and power. Crazy. An endless finish." James Suckling

    • "Oreno" Rosso Toscana IGT 2018

      “Oreno” Rosso Toscana IGT 2018

Deep dark ruby purple. In the nose cassis, blackcurrants and a strong herbal spice with a good dose of pipe tobacco, tar and crushed rubble. On the palate, dark berries, chocolate and a cornucopia of herbs define the full body. This wine monument has precisely integrated tannins, an enormous silkiness and an almost endless finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"This is a dark, concentrated and full-bodied expression that exudes black fruit and blackberry with spicy tobacco and savory spice. Despite the Bordeaux blend in its DNA, the wine is fully Tuscan in character and spirit, with the softness and fullness that comes from fruit cultivated under the golden sunshine of Central Italy." Robert Parker

"Currant, flower and orange-blossom aromas follow through to a full body with fine, creamy tannins and a long, persistent finish. Shows finesse and precision. Cherry and orange-peel notes at the end. The flavors go on and on. Better after 2022." James Suckling

    • "Orma" Toscana Rosso IGT 2018

      “Orma” Toscana Rosso IGT 2018

Deep ruby red, intense aroma of dark fruit underlaid with delicate toasty aromas. At the palate complex and full-bodied, stoffig, with balsamic notes, perfectly integrated tannins and a finely balanced fruity-spicy finish. An intense wine, which also does not want to be a lightweight and which plays its strength perfectly. SUPERIORE.DE

"Sparkling, intense ruby with purple glints. Opens with notes of licorice and dried tomatoes, then lovely currant. Very good presence on the palate, showing tension and fresh fruit, fine-meshed tannin, lots of dark berry juice on the final." Falstaff

"This wine is built on solid foundations and shows a rich vinous footprint. The fruit is black and concentrated, as is to be expected of a wine of this ambition, and it sits with a dark and almost impenetrable appearance in the glass. Orma shows a careful balance between fruit and oak spice, and both are calibrated to achieve high sensorial impact and intensity. If you're looking for the classic Tuscan blended red with sunshine and power, this release is for you." Robert Parker

"Subtle currant, light sandalwood and some cherry aromas. Full-bodied, yet fine-tuned and polished with tannins that melt beautifully into the wine. Long and focused. Beauty and balance to this." James Suckling

    Things to know aboutSupertuscan
    Supertuscan

At the end of the 1960s, far away from the Italian wine laws, which determined certain grape varieties and percentages for individual regions of Tuscany, wines were produced from mainly French grape varieties, which due to the lack of DOC or DOCG conformity could only be classified as Vino da Tavola (today: IGT). The pioneer in 1970 was the famous Tignanello (Piero Antinori) from Cabernet single vineyard, which achieved world fame in a short time. The USA created at that time the term Supertuscan, under whose unofficial quality seal meanwhile many famous wines such as Sassicaia and Ornellaia trade and rank for a long time among the most famous wines of Italy.
