      The grapes of this Supertuscan come from the San Giovanni vineyard near San Giovanni a Cerreto. In the church next to the vineyard there is a painting by Rutilo Manetti showing Saint John the Baptist (San Giovanni). Deep ruby red, youthful, rich, dark fruit, berry and cassis aromas merge with the French oak. On the palate with deep, subtle fruit aromas and an excellent balance of fruit and tannin, along with some smoke, liquorice and tar.     At the end of the 1960s, far away from the Italian wine laws, which determined certain grape varieties and percentages for individual regions of Tuscany, wines were produced from mainly French grape varieties, which due to the lack of DOC or DOCG conformity could only be classified as Vino da Tavola (today: IGT). The pioneer in 1970 was the famous Tignanello (Piero Antinori) from Cabernet single vineyard, which achieved world fame in a short time. The USA created at that time the term Supertuscan, under whose unofficial quality seal meanwhile many famous wines such as Sassicaia and Ornellaia trade and rank for a long time among the most famous wines of Italy.
