One of the oldest wine cellars in the heart of the Roero area was founded in 1878 by Enrico Serafino. His wines have been known to wine connoisseurs for years, as have the great Barolo and Barbaresco wines from the nearby Langhe region. Since 1989, the cellar has belonged to the Gruppo Barbero organisation, whose headquarters are located in Valpone di Canale, just a few kilometres away. The farm has an area of 20 hectares. Here you can find medium-heavy, sandy soils with vines that are more than 30 years old. Some of the grapes come from nearby areas, in particular the Langhe. Only grapes from the best sites are purchased. There are contracts with 80 selected winegrowers for this. The methods used in the cellar are very advanced, while respecting the traditional, classic traditions. SUPERIORE.DE
"Enrico Serafino, who has completely changed the ownership, organisation and image of his company and who, in just a few years, has allowed a new company to grow out of the ashes of the old one, has now succeeded in finally completing the transition with the appearance of the current range. It is composed of defined, strong personality drops, which Enrico has divided into two clearly distinguishable lines: One classic and one with Roero selections, which run under the name Cantina Maestra."Gambero Rosso 2009
