    • "TM" Rosé Toscana IGT 2019

      “TM” Rosé Toscana IGT 2019

Delicate pale old pink, in the nose apricot, yellow fruit and pink grapefruit. Delicate and fresh with a soft structure, which makes this impressively elegant Rosato from predominantly Merlot the perfect companion for mild Mediterranean dishes and seafood. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2019 T.M. Rosé is fresh yet also quite earthy, leaning toward savory herbs and crushed stone minerality, as notes of young strawberry and pretty florals come forward. On the palate, soft textures give way to a mix of ripe red berries and melon tones, carried by brisk acids. It finishes a bit short, yet with a mouthwatering, almost-salty quality, which just begs you to take another sip. There may not be unseen depths here, but the 2019 Tenuta Monteti is ready to give a lot of pleasure." Falstaff

"Quite zesty with a bit more structure than a typical Provence rose. Good food wine with something to get your teeth into. A satisfying rosé for the table." Jancis Robinson

      Chianti Classico DOCG 2018 (BIO)

Fine, slim and racy Chianti Classico from organic farming - and for over 15 years one of our special favourites. Captivating aroma, dense, firm body, deep and juicy, with well defined tannins and fresh and appetising aftertaste. SUPERIORE.DE

"Just mid crimson. Pretty nose of sour cherry with a hint of nutmeg. Lithe and almost ethereal on the palate. Tangy cherry fruit with sandpapery tannins with a touch of bitterness. Not hugely profound, all is set on elegance." Jancis Robinson

"A fresh, delicate Chianti Classico showing lots of typical character and brightness with orange-peel and bark undertones. Light to medium body, light tannins and a delicious, crisp finish." James Suckling

"The 2018 Chianti Classico is a very pretty, enticing wine. Crushed flowers, sweet red cherry, pipe tobacco, cedar and mint all grace this exquisite, ethereal Chianti Classico from Coltibuono. All the elements simply fall into place effortlessly. Silky tannins round things out in style. This is such a beguiling Chianti Classico." Vinous

"Fresh and fragrant, this has vinous aromas of red berry, blue flower and dark culinary spice. The bright savory palate doles out crushed raspberry, red cherry and baking spice alongside vibrant acidity and taut polished tannins." Wine Enthusiast

      “Baccanera” Rosso Langhe DOC 2016

Baccanera is an aromatic Piedmontese cuvée of Barbera, Merlot, Nebbiolo and Cabernet Sauvignon. In the spicy fragrance notes of tobacco, plum and a touch of cloves. Complex on the palate with fresh fruit, beautiful structure and well integrated tannins. SUPERIORE.DE

"The lift and blackberry notes from Barbera, and the earthy cherry of Nebbiolo combined with a hint of capsicum and oak. Long, supple fruit palate with great focus and balanced by integrated acidity and grainy tannins. Embracing and concentrated but will gain in interest with additional bottle age. Internationally moulded but with proper Piemontese character." Jancis Robinson

Our pure enthusiasm for this pure, authentic, wonderfully traditional Chianti Classico, which the very likeable Ingeborg Raspi Juergens and her family have been presenting to us for years: Ruby red, finely spiced, with a refined depth of fruit, well proportioned on the palate, powerful, elegant structure, intense final. SUPERIORE.DE

      Chianti Classico DOCG 2018 (BIO)

Lively ruby with bright violet reflections, rich fruity aromas on the nose, very typical of wild berries and sour cherries. On the palate fresh, balanced and well structured, with silky tannins and spicy accents. A classic of the appellation. SUPERIORE.DE

"Rich, deep dark ruby. Shows a little hazy on the nose, needs in-depth aeration, then rich notes of blackberry and mulberry. Very concentrated on the palate, dark berry fruit, deep." Falstaff

"Mid crimson. Savoury and a little reductive at the moment, but this is a cask sample. Gorgeous succulent sweet red fruit and gripping tannins. Very long, juicy and gripping." Jancis Robinson

"Reoccurring rainy periods throughout the growing season made it challenging for organic producer Marco Ricasoli-Firidolfi. He credits the constant winds inherent to the area of Monti in Gaiole-in-Chianti for helping keep the grapes clean and healthy through to harvest. While not immediately charming, Rocca di Montegrossi's annata demonstrates impressive concentration and tannin structure for this vintage. It is very youthful with great energy and freshness on the palate but still fairly tightly wound. I'd give it a few more months in bottle before approaching." Decanter

"A red with blackberries, black cherries and hints of sliced dark mushrooms that follow through to a medium body, chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Some bark, too. Always a serious Chianti Classico." James Suckling

"The 2018 Chianti Classico opens with a burst of sweet red berry fruit, spice and wild flowers. Exuberant and racy, the 2018 is endowed with tremendous energy and tons of personality. Time in the glass brings out the wine's inner sweetness and radiance, with a closing flourish of red flowers. This is a fabulous wine for the money. Don't miss it." Vinous

Chianti Classico Vallenuova has the potential to become a favourite wine. It is the archetypal expression of Sangiovese from a single vineyard, which could not be more typical and authentic. Lively, sparkling ruby, in the fragrance some cedar wood and small forest berries, in addition spices, beetroot and white pepper. On the palate leather, tobacco and a hint of citrus fruit, in the final it presents itself pleasantly slender with a convincing drinking freshness. SUPERIORE.DE

Succulent and tangy strawberry and cherry on the palate with velvety tannins. An elegant, truly satisfying wine, and a much better deal than entry-level burgundy, for sure." Jancis Robinson

    • "Trevigne" Barbera d'Alba DOC 2017

      “Trevigne” Barbera d’Alba DOC 2017

In contrast to the past, this full and fragrant Barbera is now aged to a greater extent in large oak barrels - and less in barriques. This benefits the softness, fruitiness and suppleness of this beautiful wine. Tre Vigne means that the grapes come in equal parts from the top sites Mosconi, Ginestra and San Pietro. Deep dark ruby red. In the bouquet fine scent of sour cherries and violets, in the full and soft taste a pleasantly fresh acidity which refines the long drinking pleasure. SUPERIORE.DE

"Concentrated violet crimson. Lifted fresh black fruit with more than a hint of oak. Succulent blackberry fruit. Fine tannins. Supple and long." Jancis Robinson

"The Domenico Clerico 2017 Barbera d'Alba Trevigne is a dark and exuberant wine with thick layers of blackberry and plum. The 2017 vintage is all about intensity and roundness, showing a quality of fruit that is ripe for sure, but is also nuanced, measured and cautious. The longer I kept my nose in the glass, I found a point of raisin or dried prune (that is typical of this vintage), but those ripe tones felt natural, not forced or pushed in any way. Fruit comes from three sites with different exposures: the west-facing San Pietro vineyard, northeast-facing Ginestra and south-facing Ciabot Mentin." Robert Parker

      Chianti Classico DOCG 2017 (BIO)

With the 2017 vintage, Querciabella presents a more mature, opulent Chianti Classico than in previous years. Wonderful scent of sweet raspberries, notes of tobacco and violets. Enormous density, compact structure, robust tannins, youthful and fresh temperament, coupled with a certain finesse. Ends long with notes of juicy red berries. SUPERIORE.DE

"Shining Ruby. Beautiful, open-hearted nose, of ripe cherries and raspberries, rich fruit bouquet, delicate spice, appealing. On the palate of young cranberries, fruity course, juicy and clear, stretches very finely over the tongue to the final. Falstaff

"Youthful ruby. Classy nose of sweet red fruit, oak and stones and hints of mint. Elegant, juicy and almost a little linear. A wine that contradicts the torrid vintage." Jancis Robinson

"Gorgeous freshness here both on the nose and palate. Aromas of pepper, sage blossom, and lavender lead to a mouthful of red currants. Full-bodied but balanced in its proportioned, this is light on its feet with plenty of vitality." Decanter

"This is a little jammy with lots of ripe fruit and both blueberry and chocolate character. Rich and flavorful, but still fresh and energetic. Shows the warmth of the vintage. From biodynamically grown grapes." James Suckling

"The 2017 Chianti Classico is bright, floral and beautifully lifted, with lovely red berry and rose petal character. Pliant and supple, with terrific balance, the Querciabella 2017 is one of the more refined, restrained Chianti Classicos readers will come across in this vintage, with Radda very much driving the personality of the wine in its aromatic and red fruit profile. • "Eruzione 1614" Nerello Mascalese Sicilia DOC 2017

“Eruzione 1614” Nerello Mascalese Sicilia DOC 2017

In the history of Etna, the eruption of 1614 is legendary, because it lasted ten years and is thus the longest recorded eruption of the still active volcano. A very impressive and fitting name for Planeta's Etna series of equally impressive wines.

It could hardly be more autochthonous: From the hotspot on the east coast of Sicily, from the slopes of Etna, comes this excellent wine from the Nerello Mascalese grape. Bright cherry red, fine scent of raspberry and blood orange, gripping, taut acidity, silky tannin and a lively elegance with beautiful minerality. Great, long and unique! SUPERIORE.DE

"Gorgeous sweet cherry fruit. So fragrant it is almost floral but on the palate there is a lovely dry texture, stony, almost chalky in its elegance. Extremely pure but with a savoury quality that is decidedly mineral, long. Taut and juicy with a gentle chewiness on the finish." Jancis Robinson

"Planeta's 2017 Sicilia Nerello Mascalese Eruzione 1614 reveals a delicate and poised personality with small berry aromas and licorice followed by smoke, tar and ash. The wine delivers a subdued mouthfeel that slowly grows in intensity and length. You really taste the grape here, Nerello Mascalese, in its most naked and pure form." Robert Parker

"Delicious and loaded with finesse, this Nerello Mascalese delivers aromas and flavors of ripe black cherry, blackberry and star anise, while smoky flint adds depth. Lithe, elegant tannins provide the polished framework." Wine Enthusiast

"A pure and very focused Etna red with aromas of cherries, strawberries, ash, rose petals and rose stems, following through to a full body with firm, chewy tannins and a bright, tightened finish. Shows class and persistence." James Suckling

    • "Villa Donoratico" Rosso Bolgheri DOC 2018

“Villa Donoratico” Rosso Bolgheri DOC 2018

Rich, deep dark ruby. Dense and memorable nose, much currant. Builds up pleasant pressure on the palate. Ripe, dark berries and a smooth and dense tannin lead into a long finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"Dark shining garnet. Noble, dark berry nose, slightly leathery undertones, subtle spice, dried plum, ripe cherry, wild berries, complex. Shows up on the palate with tightly woven tannin, great structure, saline, punchy, spans a wide arc, long." Falstaff

"Deep crimson. Fragrant, sweet oak framing concentrated cherry and cassis fruit. Juicy dark-cherry and blackcurrant palate with a hint of red bell pepper and velvety, coating bitter-sweet tannins. International polish combined with Tuscan generosity of fruit." Jancis Robinson

"The 2018 Bolgheri Rosso Villa Donoratico comes from the middle of the estate portfolio. It offers good value and a little more heft and fruit concentration. This wine would enhance a plate of fried chicken or a grilled filet mignon, either way. The tannins are well managed and elegant. The wine hits the senses with bold cherry, cassis, spice and campfire ash." Robert Parker

"Very pretty aromas of berries, mushrooms and fresh herbs follow through to a full body with round, fine tannins and plenty of blackberry and blackcurrant flavors. Long and intense. The texture is beautiful in this wine." James Suckling

    • Barbaresco DOCG 2016

      Barbaresco DOCG 2016

Typical Barbaresco: bright ruby red, fine bouquet of berries, undergrowth and coffee. On the palate it is powerful with fine, yet noticeable tannin, soft middle structure with a full-bodied substance and a long, fruity finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"Tasted blind. Mid ruby. Fragrant and full cherry nose with a layer of spice underneath and hints of iron. Medium weight and elegant, if with quite a bit of demanding, bitter-sweet tannins. Long and focused but still a little unsettled for the moment." Jancis Robinson

"Pretty aromas of perfumed berry, fragrant blue flowers and vineyard dust shape the nose. The vibrant, linear palate delivers crunchy red cherry, pomegranate, star anise and a hint of white pepper alongside bright acidity and taut but refined tannins." Wine Enthusiast

"Ripe fruit aromas of summer cherry and plum rise from the bouquet of the 2016 Barbaresco. This is an easygoing expression of Nebbiolo that plays its winning cards with an expert hand-especially in this balanced vintage. You get lots of small-fruit detailing with spice, leather and tar at the back. Dusty notes of crushed mineral appear on the finish." Robert Parker

    • "Ginestreto" Rosso di Montalcino DOC 2017

“Ginestreto” Rosso di Montalcino DOC 2017

Aromas of sweet and sour cherries, blackberry notes and elegant spices on the nose. The lively, full-bodied taste with appealing tannins and a powerful acidity is long lasting and extremely harmonious. A small Brunello from a very good house, which reveals the potential of the Sangiovese grape in a remarkable way. SUPERIORE.DE

"Deep minerally/earthy cherry nose. Succulent cherry fruit on the palate with long, coating tannins. Just a touch of creaminess on the finish, which could betray oak. It's not exactly a bargain but is worth every penny." Jancis Robinson

"The 2017 Rosso di Montalcino Ginestreto is a joyous wine that captures all the richness of the vintage. Ample, creamy yet translucent, the 2017 is super-expressive today. Ripe red cherry, orange zest, plum, licorice, mint and sweet floral notes all flesh out effortlessly. Soft curves and pliant fruit add to the wine's sheer appeal." Vinous

    • Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2016 (BIO)

Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2016 (BIO)

Strong ruby red, as expected from a good traditionally and organically produced wine. A wonderful, elegant and intense fragrance spectrum between sour cherry and nutmeg. On the palate beautifully balanced and with lots of youthful freshness in the long finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright ruby red. Open and inviting nose with floral aromas, rich cherry, raspberry, dried rose petal. Balanced and juicy drink, stretches nicely over the tongue, hearty and clear, great riserva." Falstaff

"Lustrous mid ruby. Lifted cherry with minerally, saline notes and hints of crushed shells. Transparent, medium-bodied palate with fine yet gripping tannins. Fluid, sour-cherry fruit on the finish. Still embryonic, and with lots of potential." Jancis Robinson

"The 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva Badia a Coltibuono is a very pretty wine with lovely aromatic nuance and plenty of character to match its mid-weight personality. Crushed flowers, mint, lavender, spice and black cherry are all finely knit in this attractive, mid-weight Riserva. Fresh and energetic, the 2016 will drink nicely for many years to come." Vinous

"This is firmly placed in red-fruit territory with frozen strawberries, dried red cherries and fresh herbs. Round and juicy on the medium-to full-bodied palate and succulent on the finish." James Suckling

"Badia a Coltibuono traces its history back to the 11th century when Vallombrosian monks founded the abbey and started planting the area's first vineyards. The Stucchi Prinetti family who now own the property have bottles of Riserva dating back to 1937. Rounded out with a dollop of Canaiolo Nero, Ciliegiolo and Colorino, it is uncluttered by oak nuances. Accented by strawberry, juniper and tarragon, it glides smoothly across the palate with tame, chalky tannins and dusty black cherry on the finish. Accessible now, this has in bones to age gracefully over the next decade. I always appreciate the steadfast, recognisable personality of Coltibuono's elegant Riserva." Decanter

"Showing beautiful results in an excellent vintage, the 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva is a graceful and elegantly tempered red wine. It makes good on all the basic promises of traditional Sangiovese: the complexity and elegance of the grape and that fresh acidity. It opens to a mid-weight style, making this a perfect wine for roast chicken and roast potatoes. Pretty mineral notes appear on the close, and the tannin is beautifully integrated." Robert Parker

    • Chianti Classico DOCG 2017 (BIO)

      Chianti Classico DOCG 2017 (BIO)

Chianti Classico by Giovanni Manetti offers a deep, densely woven and yet very youthful bouquet of dark and red berries and fine spicy notes. The dry, cherry-like taste with long-lasting impressions, well extracted tannin and the Sangiovese typical acidity shows clearly recognizable terroir character. Very clear, straightforward, long, always fresh and juicy, with excellent strength and balance. SUPERIORE.DE

"Sparkling, deep ruby. Intense and dense nose, initially reveals notes of cloves and black truffle, then plenty of blackberry and black cherry. Hearty and grasping on the palate, shows a lot of power, opens with handy, hearty tannin, full pressure, needs some more maturity." Falstaff

"Lustrous mid crimson. Gorgeous lifted nose of sour cherry with a hint of nutmeg. Succulent and almost a little tart on the palate with a layer of powdery tannins. Amazingly fresh for this hot vintage. I presume part of the fruit was harvested very early in order to maintain the acidity." Jancis Robinson

"The Fontodi 2017 Chianti Classico gives the impression of being slightly mature or advanced, even now straight out of the gate. The hot and dry vintage has shaped aromas of candied cherry, dried plum, rum raisin, white chocolate and a dusty note of wet chalk. The wine is quite beautiful in terms of mouthfeel, with well-integrated alcohol and tannins that close without sharpness or astringency. This dark and sultry Sangiovese shows moderate fruit, focused mostly on dark blackberry and dried cherry." Robert Parker

"Ripe black cherry, blackberry, iron, juniper and thyme flavors mark this solidly built red. The balance walks the line between the rich profile and the assertive tannins that deliver grip on the long finish." Wine Spectator

"April's frost resulted in less productive vines. Giovanni Manetti saw this as an advantage in the drought-like conditions of summer. He explains that with fewer grapes, the vines suffered less stress and were able to continue ripening without shutting down. Initial scents of baked clay and dry earth make way for mint blossom and cherry. Clingy, muscular tannins wrap around dusty fruit with nuances of rust and cinnamon poking through and the acidity is remarkably racy and ripe." Decanter

"A rich, layered Chianti Classico with intense cherry and flower character, as well as orange peel. Full-bodied with firm, velvety tannins and a flavorful finish." James Suckling

"The 2017 Chianti Classico Fontodi is a wine of extreme elegance that shows how much the house style has evolved here. A decade ago, in a warm year the Fontodi Chianti Classico would have been opulent, but these days proprietor Giovanni Manetti seeks finesse more than power, and that is exactly what comes through here. Ripe red Sangiovese fruit, rose petal, blood orange and spice infuse this racy, exotic Chianti Classico with so much character. The 2017 spent two years in oak, half in cask and half in neutral oak. I loved it." Vinous

"Fragrant and delicious, this opens with aromas of ripe black-skinned fruit, blue flower, leather, underbrush and a whiff of French oak. The full-bodied, enveloping palate delivers baked plum, Marasca cherry, licorice and a note of espresso framed in fine-grained enveloping tannins that give it a smooth texture and a weightless finesse." • "Filetta di Lamole" Chianti Classico DOCG 2017 (BIO)

“Filetta di Lamole” Chianti Classico DOCG 2017 (BIO)

Filetta di Lamole comes from selected Lamole sites of the Giovanni Manettis family and was first vinified in 2015. It is a complex, elegant Chianti Classico, which plays off its aromas with nuances and has a fascinating structure. Ruby red with bright reflections. Complex bouquet of cherry, then some tarry notes, violets and forest flowers. In this wine you can see Fontodi's signature, and yet it is different because it is more subtle and restrained with its existing powers. A wonderful new addition to the Fontodi portfolio, which underlines all the more the class and versatility of the winery. SUPERIORE.DE

"Mid ruby. Soft sour-cherry nose with minerally hints. Gripping cherry fruit that is finely balanced. Great length and style." Jancis Robinson

"Earthy aromas of truffle, camphor and blue flower mingle with whiffs of new leather. Smooth and supple, the rounded, savory palate offers fleshy black cherry, baking spice and smooth, polished tannins." Wine Enthusiast

"Sitting at 600 metres above sea level and surrounded by forest, Fontodi's vineyards in the area of Lamole are much cooler than the estate's holdings in Panzano. Even in 2017, harvest didn't begin until October. It emerges from it shell slowly then offers an exquisite bouquet of fresh flowers and herbs. There is great focus here and an invigorating backbone of acidity piercing through dark currants. At the moment, tannins are still firm and imposing. Give this another year in the bottle." Decanter

"The 2017 Chianti Classico Filetta di Lamole is absolutely gorgeous. In 2017, the Filetta di Lamole has a bit more body than usual because of the warmth of the year, and yet it retains its classic sense of energy and mid-weight structure. Crushed red berry, spice, mint, licorice and rose petal all open up in this super-expressive, inviting Chianti Classico." Vinous

"Chewy and rich with attractive cherry and dried-strawberry character, as well as intense tannins. Dried flowers, too. This is traditional and structured. Very tight. Needs time to soften." James Suckling

    • "Nussbaumer" Gewürztraminer Alto Adige DOC 2018

“Nussbaumer” Gewürztraminer Alto Adige DOC 2018

The world-famous Gewürztraminer Nussbaumer has been a real benchmark for years and is also a convincing wine in terms of longevity. Typically perfect, complex and deep, but also agile and fresh with beautiful nuances. Smoky notes, black tea, white fruit. On the palate it flows silky smooth, velvety and spicy and lasts for a long time. SUPERIORE.DE

"Shiny green-yellow. Opened in the nose with finely drawn notes, of yellow roses, some baked apple and lemon balm. Round and very well balanced in the beginning and the course, as if from one cast, fine play between spice and fruit, firm pressure in the final. Falstaff

"Golden. Classic, blousy, full-blown-rose Gewurz nose. And full-blown Gewurz, in all its sensuous, art-deco decadence, on the palate. Gingerbread, candied jasmine, nougat. Floral, petals dipped in gold leaf, elderflowers in spun sugar. There is even a carrot-cake dense spiciness with the orange-zested richness of cream-cheese icing. Slow, brocade texture. But for all the seeming sweetness, it’s perhaps only just off-dry – it’s all in the flavours and the weight of the alcohol." Jancis Robinson

"Bright yellow. Strong aromas of grapefruit, peach and cinnamon are lifted by a floral element. Juicy and suave on the palate, conveying a restrained sweetness, a light touch and perhaps just a little less concentration than is usual for this wine, but boasting good inner-mouth tension and perfume to the tropical fruit and spice flavors. The luscious finish shows very good length and grip." Vinous

"Spicy peaches with melon and apple aromas that follow through to a medium body with a creamy, almost waxy palate. Lightly sweet with spices on the finish." James Suckling

"Tramin is a village in Alto Adige that is closely linked to the production of Gewürztraminer; in fact, Tramin is considered the best microclimate for the variety. The Cantina Tramin 2018 Alto Adige Gewürztraminer Nussbaumer makes excellence use of its home court advantage, showing those silky or glossy aromas that distinguish this fragrant grape. The bouquet opens to beeswax, white rose, star jasmine and licorice root. There is a spicy element to the bouquet with lingering notes of nutmeg, saffron and clove. The strong mineral imprint of the dolomitic soil is also reflected here with crushed stone and chalk." Robert Parker

    • Chianti Classico DOCG 2018

      Chianti Classico DOCG 2018

Elegant, fine Chianti Classico and every year one of the best of its appellation: Bright red, smells of strawberry and elderberry, fresh fruit on the palate, beautifully juicy and balanced, enormously smooth in the aftertaste. Has polish, elegance and despite the visually high price a very good value. SUPERIORE.DE

"Lustrous mid ruby. Savoury-sweet and intense raspberry nose with minerally notes. Fragrant, lithe, tangy raspberry palate with fine, coating tannins." Jancis Robinson

    • "Reseca" Rosso Etna DOC 2015 (BIO)

“Reseca” Rosso Etna DOC 2015 (BIO)

Sweet cherries, dried flowers, liquorice and spices on the nose. The elegant style continues on the palate with silky tannins and restraint in all components. A medium-bodied, prancing red with all the advantages of the volcanic terroir from Etna. SUPERIORE.DE

"Deep crimson. Lifted strawberry nose and refreshing raspberry fruit. Richly tannic but fits the concentrated fruit like a glove. Very young and firm and long." Jancis Robinson

"Notes of berries, cherries and hints of dried spice. Medium-bodied, tight palate and a medium, fruity finish. Pleasant nucleus of fruit, but slightly restrained now. Interesting red from nerello mascalese." James Suckling

    Things to know aboutJancis Robinson.
    Jancis Robinson.

The British Jancis Robinsonwoman, MW, (*1950), is the most respected and influential wine author and taster in the world. And probably the most hard-working and widely travelled. She studied mathematics and philosophy at Oxford. She came to the subject of wine in 1975, when she was appointed to the editor-in-chief of Wine & Spirits, a traditional magazine for the specialist trade.

In 1979, she became the wine correspondent for the Sunday Times. Soon, as Jancis Robinsona columnist for countless magazines and TV shows, she was also known outside Great Britain. Wine-Spectator, Decanter, Feinschmecker, Falstaffand many other international magazines published their columns and reviews. In 1984 she was the first person not to come from the wine trade to pass the demanding Master of Wine examination. She has been writing the weekly wine column in the Financial Times since 1990.

Some of her many books became standard works of wine literature. The Oxford Wine Dictionary (The Oxford Companion to Wine), "The World Atlas of Wine" (with Hugh Johnson), and "Wine Grapes"in which she describes 1368 different grape varieties worldwide with Julia Harding (MW) and José Vouillamoz (one of the most famous grape variety geneticists). Since 2000 she is also present online and with her team of specialized journalists and Masters' of Wine she reports daily from all over the wine world.

Your expert for Italy is Walter Speller. He was originally a buyer for Italian wines and also writes for the magazines Decanterand Wine. Walter Speller is very much appreciated in Italy's wine industry as a serious taster. He now lives more in Padua than in London.
