“Controdanza” Rosso Sicilia Noto DOC 2018
The country dance (controdanza) is a typical dance in which man and woman face each other and unite in graceful movements - depending on their gender, the dancers interpret the music in their own way. This wine is exactly the same: Nero d'Aola and Merlot - as is well known, opposites attract and, with the right intuition, can adjust wonderfully to each other, forming harmony and contrast at the same time.
Strong purple. Mulberry and plum contrast with incense and balsamic notes. The grapes all come from calcareous soils, which again bridges the gap and makes this young wine balancing and harmonious. Soft tannins and beautifully integrated delicate acidity carry Controdanza into a smooth, medium-length finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Lustrous ruby with orange tinges. Alluring deep nose of forest fruit with notes of new oak. The palate is supple and concentrated and not heavy at all. Succulent finish with soft, grainy tannins and a hint of cinnamon stick and tomato stalk. Super-likeable." Jancis Robinson
"With a mix of ripe plums, crushed stone, violet pastille, hints of brown sugar and licorice, the 2018 Nero d'Avola di Noto Controdanza seduces the senses. Its silky textures wash a contrasting blend of tart wild berries and salty minerals across a core of vibrant acidity. Grippy tannins mount toward the close, buried beneath a saturation of dark primary fruits, all under an air of purple-tinged inner florals. The 2018 Controdanza will require a year or two of cellaring to soften. This is a powerful blend of 85% Nero d'Avola and 15% Merlot from Planeta’s Noto property in the extreme southern tip of Sicily." Vinous

"Fresh apple fruit, bright and lively. Substantial in the mouth, creamy, a serious Pinot Bianco with excellent depth of fruit and lots of wine for the price." Jancis Robinson
"The Pinot Blanc Pinot Bianco 2021 smells of spicy herbs and lime zest before combining with crushed green apples and a hint of ginger. It has a soft texture, almost feeling like glycerine, with an echo of citrus tension that contrasts nicely with its lovely inner sweetness. “Vigna Monte Ceriani” Soave DOC 2020
Pale yellow, crystalline colour. Harmonious aroma of citrus fruits, especially grapefruit. Powerful on the palate, fresh, long lasting and mineral reverberation accompanied by a wonderful almond/pepper note. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright straw yellow with greenish reflections. Very floral nose, pink grapefruit, elderflower and other herbaceous notes. Mouth-filling, balanced, complex, intense and very dense. Long finish highlighting the contrast between fruity and juicy." Falstaff
"Sweet nuts and lime blossom fill the glass with heady soft clouds of aroma, but the palate has a textural certainty that is anything but soft. The volcanic soils have given the wine a mineral framework, a symmetrical matrix of flint and phenol in which the flesh is deeply embedded. White pears, almond cream, white peach and lime. A hint of finely ground pepper. Fine silvery strands of acidity that thread the whole into a glittering carpet of light. "Sotto voce" splendour now, it will only get more complex, honeyed and exciting in the years to come." Jancis Robinson
"Sun-dried lemon, spiced mandarin and ripe melon on the nose, followed by a generous and intense palate with medium to full body. Almost some hay and candied fruit on the finish, but not in an old-fashioned way. Fresh and bright." James Suckling
"From Ceriani di Colognola ai Colli, historic family estate, 50-year-old vines, from pure Garganega refined in steel only, notes of clementine zest, touches of yellow grapefruit, citrus thyme and hawthorn. Savoury on the palate, citrusy return." Luca Gardini

Chianti Classico DOCG 2020 (BIO)
Lively ruby with light violet reflections, rich fruity aromas on the nose, very typical of wild berries and sour cherries. Fresh, balanced and well-structured on the palate, with silky tannins and spicy accents. An energetic classic of the appellation. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red. A little reductive and a little leathery on the nose with brooding fruit underneath. Gentle sour cherry fruit with long, grainy tannins. Very long, fragrant and juicy, but needs more time in bottle." Jancis Robinson
"The grapes for this 2020 were harvested in the last week of September, after the unusually warm conditions at the beginning of the month had time to settle down. It is true to the winery's style, with a deep purple colour and a backward nose of youthful reduction. On the palate, it shows its potential with an intriguing build of tension and fresh black cherry and blackberry fruit. The supple tannins are refined and polished, but it's the juicy, saline notes and tangy acidity that really make the wine sing." Decanter
"Wet earth, cherry stones and orange peel on the nose. Medium-bodied with lightly grainy tannins. Savory. A little lacking in firmness and focus, but pleasant. From organically grown grapes." James Suckling
"The 2020 Chianti Classico is impressive. Bright, powerful and lively, the 2020 has great energy from start to finish. Sweet red-fleshed fruits, cedar, blood orange, spices and incense are prominent. The 2020 literally screams character. Once again Marco Ricasoli-Firidolfi has created an exceptional Chianti Classico that punches well above its weight." Vinous

Dark ruby red. La Bandina is a parade Valpolicella with a very complex, nuanced bouquet of small wild berries, cherries, liquorice and tobacco. "The freshest vintage of this wine I have ever tasted. Wonderful acidity. Plum skins and scent of bruised rose petals. Deep thyme-scented cherry fruit; tannins that feel as fine but also as firm as slightly unripe cherry fruit; the scent of rose petal tea, of rooibos; the pungency of blood orange. Lovely depth on the finish with the fragrant zest and freshness of lavender." Jancis Robinson
"Fresh nose of plum fruit, along with pressed flowers, clean minerals and a hint of citrus. Opens on the palate, adding a mushroomy note to the profile that carries through to the finish. Medium-bodied with fine, unobtrusive tannins." James Suckling
"The 2019 Valpolicella Superiore La Bandina opens with a dusting of exotic spice, giving way to grilled sage and black cherries. This is remarkably pure and elegant in style, with silky textures ushering in rose-tinged red fruits as a black pepper hint emerges toward the close. "The 2021 Chianti Classico is a model of excellence. Pure, bright and wonderfully vibrant, the 2021 possesses superb energy and exceptional balance. Crushed red/purplish fruit, rose petal, sweet spice and orange zest bristle with tension. This is a rare Chianti Classico I would cellar for a year or two. Superb." Vinous
"Since the high temperatures in mid-August stopped the ripening of the Sangiovese, he harvested about a week later than usual, Marco Ricasoli reports. He also introduced a sorting table to remove dried or green berries as well as stem pieces. The result is a flawless and refined annata. It has a deep purple colour and an equally youthful bouquet with aromas of wild berries, black plums and a hint of wood spice. In the mouth, it is full of spicy dark red cherries supported by lively acidity and framed by suede-textured tannins. Winter mint and liquorice root linger on the finish. With its admirable complexity, it surpasses its category." Decanter

“Petrignano” Chianti Classico DOCG 2019 (BIO)
Dievoles' new Chianti Classico, just released with the debut vintage 2019, is the result of the effort to highlight the identity characteristics of particularly suitable vineyards, leading to ever more precise expressions of Sangiovese. Petrignano is the name of a characteristic area with a soil rich in minerals and stones. At an altitude of about 330 metres, rocks protrude from the ground, typical of the geological formation of Monte Morello. The abundance of stones, the depth of the roots and the low growth of the vines result in an expressive and lush wine from this characteristic and authentic cru site.
Intense ruby red. Very appealing bouquet dominated by ripe fruit, cherry and blackberry aromas. Juicy, full and rich on the palate, with blackberry and ripe fruit flavours. Warm and velvety finish with fine and soft tannins that are very accentuated interwoven with the fine acid structure. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red. Deep, complex cherry nose. Mouth-filling cherry fruit with plenty of chewy tannins and lively, juicy acidity on the finish. With this wine, the winery has turned a corner." Jancis Robinson
"A bright, uncomplicated CC with aromas and flavours of sour cherries and flowers. Barely medium-bodied with a racy grapefruit freshness on the palate. Stays bright and fresh." James Suckling
"This is a new submission from Dievole that focuses exclusively on the Sangiovese grape. The organic 2019 Chianti Classico Petrignano is fermented in tulip-shaped cement vats and aged in the "botte grande" for 13 months. The wine offers a light balance and freshness with textbook aromas of cherry, wild fruit, tar and smoke. It all goes very well with an entry-level wine like this." Wine Advocate
"Aromas of liquorice, menthol and ripe dark berries segue into the linear, spicy palate, along with orange zest and an almost salty finish. It's polished, with fine-grained tannins." Wine Enthusiast
"Petrignano is a new wine for Dievole, the result of the winery's collaboration with Chilean soil specialist Pedro Parra. It comes from a recently planted 15ha site between 300 and 330 metres above sea level, characterised by an abundance of limestone near the surface. The bouquet is chalky and ferruginous, transitioning into sun-drenched wild berries. It balances the generous warmth of the south with freshness and long, chalky tannins, with a lively acidity creeping in too." Decanter
"This beautiful version of Chianti Classico shows the Castelnuovo Berardenga area, with notes of blackberry jam on the nose, then hints of lime and nutmeg. The sip is iodine-rich and of nice density, the finish is persistent and fruity." Luca Gardini

“Berardenga” Chianti Classico DOCG 2021
Sangiovese in pure culture: Bright ruby with a broad garnet rim. Rich in fruity-floral aromas, multi-layered, herbaceous, deep and of good polish with further development potential. A full-bodied and harmonious Chianti-Classico of highly authentic and very inviting style. SUPERIORE.DE
"Brilliant ruby red. Deep cherry with dark spice notes. Concentrated, supple and with plenty of richness. Impressive structure with powdery tannins that have yet to settle." Jancis Robinson
"Animating church, cassis and herbs, shows its pithy side with bite, salty vein and tart charm, is robust and lingers long. The classic from the south of the growing region." Weinwisser
"The Fèlsina 2021 Chianti Classico Berardenga has a spicy or crisp side that I often find in Sangiovese. There is a lot of fruit brightness here with cassis, red cherries, minerals, dried tobacco and grilled rosemary. This is an easy-drinking Tuscan red with a natural acidity and brightness that goes well with a classic lasagne or aubergine parmigiana." Wine Advocate
"The 2021 starts with smoky nuances, earth and subtle oak, then moves into fragrant mint and thyme. It is concentrated and ripe, but balanced by freshness and liveliness. The underlying firmness gradually dissipates to reveal a spicy dried tomato finish." Decanter
"The Chianti Classico Berardenga 2021 is boisterous and expressive right out of the glass. Dark fruits, earthy notes, leather, spices and tobacco convey tons of Castelnuovo Berardenga character. The wine gets better and better in the glass. It is a super-classic example of the house style and a wine to buy by the case. The Berardenga bottling can be a little wild, but in 2021 it has an added touch of sophistication that is undeniable." Vinous
"A firm and silky red wine with aromas and flavours of cherries, dried flowers and orange peel. It is medium-bodied with fine tannins and a fresh and concentrated finish. It still needs some time to mellow, but I already enjoy its energy." James Suckling

"Bringing together fruit from Greve, Radda and Gaiole, Querciabella’s annata provides a wide-angle panorama of the diverse Chianti Classico zone. The 2019 is a portrait of clarity and depth. It starts discreetly then doles out aromas of cinnamon, mint, incense, liquorice and black raspberry. Sophisticated and polished, the palate unfolds confidently and gracefully. The wood is well-integrated, as are the powdery, suede-like tannins. There's lovely intensity of violet and a brightness to the whole." Decanter
"Plenty of sweet berry and cherry character with hints of stone and fresh mushrooms. Chocolate, too. It’s medium-bodied with a solid core of fruit and a chewy yet refined texture. Flavorful finish. Solid and very integrated." James Suckling
"Solid, as usual, interpretation of Classico by Querciabella, result of a strong work both in the countryside and in the cellar, and from raw material of beautiful fragrance. Nose with marked dark characteristics, black currant, then licorice and juniper. Salty-sapid sip, return of fruit and undergrowth." Luca Gardini

Vineyards in Gaiole and Greve form the core of the blend, with a touch of fruit from Radda. On the nose, floral aromas and red fruits in the super-classic, mid-weight style that is so typical of the Querciabella style today. Rose petals, lavender, mint and sweet raspberry fruit are in the foreground. In the drink enormous density, firm fruit body, with great youthful-fresh temperament, paired with a certain finesse and elegance. Ends long with notes of juicy red berries, great! SUPERIORE.DE
"Brilliant medium ruby red. Perfumed and concentrated on the nose, finely balanced on the palate. Lots of polished tannins and vibrant red fruits. Smooth and long." Jancis Robinson
"Bright, sparkling ruby red. On the nose ripe wild berries, juicy cherries and pickled cranberries, plus fine mint. On the palate with a clear fruit core, taut tannin and crisp acidity." Falstaff
"This is Querciabella's calling card - and an impressive one at that. It also gives a concise panoramic view of the Chianti Classico area, as it is a blend of vineyards in three different subzones. Bright and fresh, the Annata 2020 rises energetically from the glass with lush and pure red cherries and currants. It gains intrigue with stylish notes of mocha, tarragon and truffle. It is full and powerful, yet light on its feet thanks to its radiant acidity, while well-shaped tannins give it just the right amount of bite. As supple as it is full of character." Decanter
"The 2020 Chianti Classico is bright, fresh and beautifully lifted, with great precision and energy giving it a lot of character. Bright red Sangiovese fruit, spices and a hint of blood orange are prominent. Yet the 2020 still seems to be recovering from its bottling. This should not be an issue in another 6-12 months. This is the first vintage to include fruit from parcels in Greve's Lamole district." Vinous
"Pure fruit on the nose, with rose hips, cherries, blueberries, lemon leaves and dried flowers. Medium-bodied with tangy acidity and firm tannins. Lively and elegant, with such purity of fruit." James Suckling
"A proverbially solid interpretation of Classico di Querciabella, with fine work both in the vineyard and in the cellar and raw material of beautiful fragrance. Nose with notes of black mulberry, then liquorice and juniper. Spicy sweetness, fruity return and undergrowth." Luca Gardini

Chianti Classico DOCG 2021 (BIO)
Dense with complex fruit notes, lots of extract, soft, mouth-filling, unusually velvety and enveloped by gentle tannins. Aged in small barriques of old and new oak and in traditional Tuscan wooden barrels. For years, Riecine has been producing one of the most subtle Chianti Classico - a wonderful drop. SUPERIORE.DE
"Medium crimson. Lightened, fresh cherry and raspberry fruit with spicy, savoury notes in the background. Cool raspberry fruit on the palate with plenty of fresh acidity and fine tannins that stick to the palate. Very long and precise." Jancis Robinson
"Shows its harmonious side again, on the one hand charming, with juicy fruit and creamy, then also with fine acidity and depth." Weinwisser
"The Chianti Classico 2021 is a very beautiful, elegant wine. Sweet floral notes open the wine, followed by ripe red cherries, blood oranges, mint and rose petals. This medium-bodied, noble Chianti Classico is a winner." Vinous
"It smells of raspberries, potting soil, roses and cherry blossom. The palate is medium-bodied and transparent, with flavours of redcurrants and orange peel. The light tannins are powdery in texture and the racy acidity electrifies with nervous energy." Decanter
"Aromas of black cherries and violets with a hint of lemon peel. Also gravel. Medium body, well-integrated tannins and a creamy texture with nice tannins and fruit." James Suckling

“Petrignano” Chianti Classico DOCG 2020 (BIO)
Dievoles Chianti Classico Petrignano is the result of the effort to highlight the identity characteristics of particularly suitable vineyards, leading to ever more precise expressions of Sangiovese.
"Brilliant medium ruby red with orange reflections. Lively cherry nose with some signs of development and hints of tobacco leaf and sweet spice. Spicy, juicy cherry fruit and crisp tannins. More energetic on the palate than on the nose, and that's where it hits the spot." Jancis Robinson
"Dark forest fruit with an earthy character offers plenty of appeal. High acidity and tannins with very good length." Decanter
"This is a new addition to the Dievole portfolio with a cool, retro-styled label. The organic 2020 Chianti Classico Petrignano is 100% Sangiovese fermented in cement tulips and aged in large oak casks over 12 months. Winemaking is simple and to the point. These results show vibrant freshness and pretty fruit purity with a focused delivery." Wine Advocate
"A supple red, infused with a beam of cherry and strawberry fruit, with a texture that is silky at first, then overtaken by firm, dusty tannins. The finish reveals almond, earth and herbal notes that linger long. Give it time for the two halves to meld together." Wine Spectator
"A delicious, crisp red with very fine tannins and a pretty and delicate finish. Very tasty and with a creamy texture. Fresh finish." James Suckling

“Marina Cvetic” (S. Martino Rosso) Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva DOC 2019
Powerful, concentrated Montepulciano with elegant wood notes and multi-layered fruit aromas, true to the terroir and modern. Impressive richness that offers further palate pleasures with every sip. Equally impressive is the long and complex finish. Every year one of the most emphatic Montepulciano of the region. SUPERIORE.DE
"Malty black plums, coffee and muscavado sugar. Masses of black pepper at the heart of the wine, which has the paradoxical effect of making it taste darker but also fresher; it gives it both sharpness and grace. Ruby fireflies glow in the tiny folds and corners of this dark and brooding wine, a touch of spice and energy. Dense tannins that feel like they were tailored from velvet and ink dust. Long and haunting. Very nice." Jancis Robinson
"On the nose, chocolate cherries, stewed plums, cedar and grilled rosemary. The palate is chewy and fleshy, with firm tannins and a medium to full body. Lots of bite and chewiness on a long finish. Try it from 2024." James Suckling
"Mentholated herbs lift depths of medicinal black cherry and clove as the 2019 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva San Martino Rosso makes itself known. This is a deep and powerful effort with masses of dark red fruits and exotic spices underscored by saline minerals as fine tannins mount toward the close. It finishes with tremendous length and structure, as a mix of clove, pine shavings and mint resonate. This powerful rendition of the Montepulciano D'Abruzzo Riserva from Marina Cvetic will require patience." Vinous
"Dark violet with a minimally lightening rim. Opens up on the nose with earthy notes, bitter chocolate, dried violet, blackberry, some malt, cherry in the finish, fine interplay. Great juice on the palate, stretches out crisp and compact, straightforward, the tannin is superbly integrated, comes back juicy on the final." Falstaff

Chianti Classico DOCG 2021 (BIO)
Multi-layered aroma, lots of dark cherry fruit, delicate herbal spice and cedar aromas. Also on the palate juicy dark wild cherries, ripe, perfectly integrated tannin, elegant and delicate, fine mineral spiciness, yet amazingly full-bodied and animating. A representative of the appellation that hits the right notes, as if from a picture book! SUPERIORE.DE
"Brilliant crimson. Sublime, perfumed nose of raspberry, cherry and cranberry. Juicy and almost a little racy on the attack, then concentrated and long with a firm tannic frame. Beautiful." Jancis Robinson
"Spicy, powerful, rich and fleshy, besides the fruit also delicately smoky, earthy and with sturdy tannin. A classic." Weinwisser
"The 2021 Chianti Classico is superb. Bright and explosive, the 2021 possesses notable energy and tension to play off its natural richness. In most vintages, the San Giusto Chianti Classico is quite open. That is not at all the case with the 2021, where vibrancy acids and tannins dominate. Readers should plan on putting the 2021 away for a number of years. Sweet exotic floral notes lift the finish." Vinous
"The organic Chianti Classico 2021, from a balanced vintage that delivers acidity and structure, displays a brilliant dark garnet colour and a clean, medium-bodied appearance. The bouquet is full of energy and liveliness, a quality that Sangiovese achieves under ideal growing conditions. Spicy cherry, cassis, blue flowers, violets and soft earth give this wine an authentic sense of place. The same goes for the elegant mineral notes. This is a special wine." Wine Advocate

Pergolaia is mainly Sangiovese with smaller portions of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The wine opens with a medium-bodied attack and a bright bouquet characterised by notes of cherry, wild plum, ploughed earth and pressed blue flowers. Very Mediterranean in style and with a strong personality, this red coats the palate with delicate, silky intensity. SUPERIORE.DE

In the nose restrained at the beginning, then tones of ripe cherry, wild strawberry and currant, in the aftertaste hints of violets, seems slightly icy. Elegant on the palate with supple tannin, multi-layered and with a long and exciting finish." Falstaff
"Sangiovese takes the lead in this blend with Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, giving it nerve and deep cherry flavours, while the French additions absorb the touch of oak. The result is velvety, finely textured and long. You can drink this now and for up to six years while you wait for the 'grand vin' 2019 to come round. Sheer class and with bags of Italian flair." Jancis Robinson
"A lush, opulent red, featuring blackberry, blueberry, plum, violet and black pepper flavors. Dense, with well-wrought tannins that add support and bolster the lingering finish." Wine Spectator
"Black olives, iodine, salted plums and blackberries here. It’s medium-bodied with firm, creamy tannins. Lovely creaminess, with fresh, savory and saline character." James Suckling

“Stoan” Bianco Alto Adige DOC 2021
Light yellow gold pours into the glass, very beautiful nose of balm, peach and mirabelle plum. Supple and round, shows a lot of present, ripe fruit, firm and sturdy in the course, firm pressure in the final, salty. SUPERIORE.DE
"A wine with great white curves, vanilla flowers dipped in whipped cream. Cool sweetness and juice of white peach split by radish. Pineapple fruit adds a tropical richness; tarragon and borage leaves draw it in with a fresh breath and a light liquorice green outline. The extended finish brings a little hint of smoke. The most exuberant Stoan vintage I've tasted so far, but still with the Stoan signature of crisp clarity." Jancis Robinson
"The Stoan Bianco 2021 impresses with an invigorating blend of sour melon, lime zest and crystallised ginger balanced by a hint of sweet smoke. Its texture is silky, almost opulent, with young peach and mango notes balanced by a core of green, citrus acidity. The Stoan keeps the energy high and finishes spicy and with admirable length. The 2021 is a delight today, but also has the balance to age beautifully with short cellaring." Vinous
"This light- to medium-bodied white is initially slim and compact, but it broadens on the palate, displaying a lovely range of patisserie pear, white peach and chive blossom flavors and a refreshing touch of grapefruit granita. Shows vibrant acidity and a subtle tang of salinity that are well-integrated, providing a mouthwatering frame as the flavors linger on the finish." Wine Spectator
"A fairly serious white with subtle Sauvignon Blanc guava character and a mineral, stony note of green bergamot, citrus and apple seeds. Also a hint of herbs. The palate is medium to full-bodied and shows gastronomic quality underlined by freshness, purity, elegance and texture." James Suckling
"Layers of freshly cut grass and rose petals interwoven with apricot and lime juice; lush and rich with mouth-watering acidity, a smooth, delicate texture and a lingering, lush finish. Wonderfully expressive and expertly composed." Decanter

Diverse aromas of violets, graphite, black cherries and minerals and a lively, structured, down-to-earth, very present style. Its richness and depth make it the perfect companion to winter cuisine. SUPERIORE.DE
"Ruby red colour. The nose reveals notes of small red fruits like raspberry and cherry. Light iron and spice notes, in good balance. The palate is fleshy, tannic, has very ripe fruit notes that combine with liquorice notes. Persistent finish." Falstaff
"Lots of clove spice; the presence of French oak is strong. Fragrant yet powerful. Damask-soaked red fruits, peppery intensity. Compact, smoky, charcoal-dusted fruit - really exciting and thrilling." Jancis Robinson
"Lots of spicy and meaty dried red and black fruit nuances on the nose, along with hints of walnut oil and pressed flowers. It's full but more nimble on the palate this year, with lots of bright dried fruit and an almost salty mineral freshness. The tannins are well integrated. Long and intense." James Suckling
"The 2018 Amarone della Valpolicella Antonio Castagnedi opens with a dusty blend of blackcurrant and lavender, accompanied by notes of clove and mocha. The Amarone della Valpolicella Antonio Castagnedi shows the verve and finesse of the vintage, while exuding an undeniable elegance as the depth of the ripe red fruits is balanced by a bitter hint of dark chocolate. The 2018 finishes structured with fine-grained tannins, liquorice and violet flowers within." Vinous
"Corvina, Rondinella, Croatina and Oseleta in a blend that is a memorable version of Amarone. Classic tones of Marasca cherries under spirits on the nose, with a hint of pepper leaf, the palate is taut, fresh, dense, with excellent flavour persistence and the return of the balsamic trace." British Jancis Robinson, MW, (*1950), is the world's most respected and influential wine writer and taster. And probably the most diligent and well-travelled in any case. She studied mathematics and philosophy at Oxford. She came to wine in 1975, when she was hired as editor-in-chief of Wine & Spirits, a traditional magazine for the trade.
In 1979, she became the wine correspondent for the Sunday Times. Soon Jancis Robinson was known outside the UK as a columnist for countless magazines and TV shows. Wine-Spectator, Decanter, Feinschmecker, Falstaff and many other international magazines published her columns and reviews. In 1984, she was the first person not from the wine trade to pass the demanding Master of Wine examination. Since 1990, she has written the weekly wine column in the Financial Times.
Some of her many books have become standard works of wine literature. The Oxford Companion to Wine, The World Atlas of Wine (with Hugh Johnson), and Wine Grapes, in which she describes 1368 different grape varieties worldwide with Julia Harding (MW) and José Vouillamoz (one of the best-known grape variety geneticists). Since 2000, she has also been present online and, with her team of specialist journalists and Masters' of Wine, she reports daily from all over the wine world.
Her expert for Italy is Walter Speller. He was originally a buyer for Italian wines and also writes for The World Atlas of Wine, The Oxford Companion to Wine and Decanter Magazine. Walter Speller is highly regarded in Italy's wine industry as a serious taster. He now lives more in Padua than in London. His commitment brought the "Purple Pages" of Jancis Robinson significantly more recognition in Italy, too; the ratings are made according to the relatively strict 20-point scale. SUPERIORE.DE
