“Priavino” Dolcetto d’Alba DOC 2022
Juice and power is the headline for this immensely dense and fleshy Dolcetto, which already announces what awaits the senses in a rich ruby-violet. Lots of dark, sweet cherry, along with tobacco, leather and incense pour out of the glass and then hit the palate in concentrated form, embedded in a beautiful, silky, lush texture. In the long, incredibly juicy finish, lavender, violets and white pepper can be found. Roberto Voerzio proves once again how, even apart from the great Barolos of his repertoire, one can make a dreamlike, great wine from the Dolcetto grape with yield reduction and uncompromisingness! “Disanfrancesco” Nebbiolo Langhe DOC 2020
The grapes for this Nebbiolo all come from recent Barolo sites and Roberto Voerzio (who would have thought otherwise) applies the same perfectionism to his work in the vineyard and cellar as he does to his great Barolos. And so here is a Nebbiolo in a class of its own that conveys enormous joy and excitement with every sip. Bright and lively bouquet of wild berries, black cherry, liquorice and grilled herbs. Then on the palate, medium pressure, very smooth texture and a mouthfeel like velvet and silk. Not quite as punchy as a house Barolo, but with plenty of style and a finesse and elegance that is to the point. SUPERIORE.DE

“Il Cerreto” Barbera d’Alba DOC 2021
This Barbera oscillates between richness and elegance. Wonderfully concentrated cherry fruit, finely layered, plus blackberry and some chocolate. Everything is in its place: acidity, fruit and finely woven tannins. Then warm, round and juicy on the palate, it keeps its balance until the long finish and is never too heavy or even too dense. Barolo del Comune di La Morra DOCG 2019
The grapes for Roberto's "entry-level Barolo" come from four of his best vineyards, which are harvested a few weeks earlier than those reserved for his Grand Crus. It is also the most balanced of his Barolo wines, even if the fruit and acidity are anything but restrained, but the proportions are just right here. The structure is great, its length and elegance inspiring - the refined layered components such as raspberry, cherry and its subtle salty vein make it without doubt one of the most serious wines of the entire appellation - a real Voerzio for comparatively little money. SUPERIORE.DE
"A fine and linear red with dark berries, bark, mushrooms and hints of dried spice. Firm and racy tannins and a flavorful finish. Dried orange peel. Needs four or five years to soften." James Suckling

Barolo La Serra DOCG 2017
The 2017 Barolo La Serra emerges from the glass with a playful bouquet of dark red fruits, tar, smoke, liquorice, spices and new leather. The high-toned notes of rose petals, typical of this site near La Morra, are complemented by subtle strawberry and raspberry notes, resulting in this wonderfully elegant and subtle overall package, an attractive, supremely elegant Barolo that is hard to beat for finesse, purity and length. SUPERIORE.DE
"Reminiscent of wheat bran and sunflowers; powerful, densely woven, hugely powerful and full-bodied, plus the abundant fine tannin lining up after the animatingly creamy and fruit-driven drink. Youthful." Weinwisser
"Roberto Voerzio's heart wine: Maraschino cherries, red berries, a touch of olive leaves, spicy on the nose; multi-layered yet filigree, perfect acid-tannin base, final persistent. Comparable to Romanée- Conti's La Tâche, though a bit more intense." Vinum
"Sweet berry with light tar and hazelnut on the nose. It's full-bodied with creamy, chewy tannins that are fine-grained and lead you down to a long, energetic finish. It goes on and on." James Suckling

Barolo Brunate DOCG 2017
Barolo Brunate is a stunning expression with great complexity and finesse. The wine shows a lively garnet red colour with a balanced and intense bouquet: sage, mint, undergrowth, tar, tobacco and liquorice nuances give Brunate a striking aromatic complexity. At the core of the bouquet, as well as on the palate, there is a lot of dark fruit, including blackcurrants and plums. Gains breadth with time in the glass and with further bottle maturity, the already fine tannins will surely become even smoother. A Barolo of real presence and stature and for us the most accessible Barolo in Voerzio's exceptional collection! SUPERIORE.DE
"Brunate is often called a monolith by fellow critics and presents itself full of character but always full of finesse in this vintage as well, the muscles only show after some aeration: light ruby, lots of fruit, also balsamic nuances, multilayered and long. Overall, a wine with an elegance reminiscent of Burgundy." Vinum
"Very subtle aromas of dried strawberry with cedar and flowers that follow through to a full body with tight, linear tannins that are focused and polished. Earth, spice and stone undertones. Extremely firm and long. Succulent. Racy and driven." James Suckling

Barolo Cerequio DOCG 2017
Barolo Cerequio unfolds its cornucopia of cherries, ripe red berries, violets, leather and tar in the glass only after many minutes. Firm and punchy on the palate - shows an impressive and solid construction, yet the wine remains delicate, mineral and finesse-rich all the time. It is perhaps the most balanced of Roberto Voerzio's top tier of wines, and even though it appears quite approachable when young, it too will only reveal its true potential and class in many years. SUPERIORE.DE
"Finesse-rich wine, which even in a dry year like 2017 appears harmonious and finesse-rich. Aroma of ripe cherries and lemon zest, rich on the palate, the tannins fine-grained, excellent acidity, long. Voerzio likes to compare it to a Haut-Brion." Vinum
"Extremely perfumed and beautiful, offering rose-petal and lavender aromas with some tar to the ripe cherries. Some spice, such as nutmeg, as well as light hazelnut. Fresh. Full-bodied, very tight and compact with firmness and wonderful length and focus. Consistent drive through the center of the wine." James Suckling

Barolo Rocche dell’Annunziata DOCG 2017
Undisputedly the most powerful and robust Barolo in Roberto Voerzio's top range is the Rocche dell'Annunziata from one of La Morra's best sites. For us, it is a benchmark in determination and forward-driven dynamism. Wonderfully coordinated fruit and spice components, a great wealth of impressions and precisely drawn beauty characterise this exceptional Barolo. Intensely fragrant nose of plums, pickled cherries and lots of raspberry, rounded off by cedar, spices and tobacco. In its depth, complexity and determination it does not come to rest, even 24 hours after opening the bottle the connoisseur is still surprised with fine notes of mint and balsam and this immensely expressive and charming wine shows no signs of ageing. SUPERIORE.DE
"Roberto Voerzio manages the extremes of Cerequio - a southern site in the lower part and two more east-facing sites in the upper part of the MGA. This combination gives the 2018 a special vivacity - there is no Granatton here. The aroma is soapy, with hints of cinnamon, black pepper and plenty of pencil lead. That graphite note shows on the palate too, along with ripe, creamy tannins, moderate but good acidity and a refreshing, polished finish. It's still marked by the oak, but otherwise ready to drink." Decanter
"One of the bottles that embody the winery and, in general, the Langhe area, a monument to the La Morra area from a mythological Cru. Great cleanliness in a wine that shows a nose of redcurrants, with hints of peony, laurel and star anise. The mouthfeel is dense, elegant and exciting, with spicy tannins and great persistence." Luca Gardini
"A level of ripeness and structure not found in 2018 Barolos, with aromas and flavours of ripe strawberries, cedar and fresh earth. Full and expansive but fine tannins and a fresh finish give this young red a seductive sensibility. Very, very long. Best after 2026." James Suckling

Barolo “Case Nere Riserva 10 anni” DOCG 2011
Roberto Voerzio is a master of his trade. The crowning glory, however, is his Riserva Case Nere, matured for 10 years in large wood, which he brings to market just at the beginning of a long (incipient) phase of drinking maturity. Dried autumn leaves, macerated cherries, tobacco, spices and liquorice give this exceptional Barolo an impressive complexity and deep nuances that only gradually unfold in the glass. Sweet, silky and polished on the palate, already full of balance and harmony. This Riserva has something mysterious about it that must captivate every connoisseur. After a while, the tannins come out and the wine takes on a much more virile personality and you realise that it will take many more years for this wine to reveal all its secrets ... SUPERIORE.DE
"Such pure fruit here with plums, berries, fresh flowers and hints of varnished wood. Barolo Brunate DOCG 2019
Barolo Brunate is a breathtaking expression of great complexity and finesse. The wine has a lively garnet red colour with a balanced and intense bouquet: sage, mint, undergrowth, tar, tobacco and liquorice nuances give Brunate a striking aromatic complexity. At the heart of the bouquet, as well as on the palate, there is plenty of dark fruit, including blackcurrants and plums. Gains breadth with time in the glass and the already fine tannins will certainly become even smoother with further ageing in the bottle. A Barolo with real presence and stature and for us the most accessible Barolo in Voerzio's exceptional collection! SUPERIORE.DE
"Lots of rose petal notes here with pure fruit like raspberries and fresh strawberries. Full and powerful with lots of tannins yet the core of fruit is fresh and beautiful. It’s not overly chewy or aggressive. It shows purity and focus. A fantastic wine." James Suckling

Barolo Rocche dell’Annunziata DOCG 2019
Undisputedly the most powerful and robust Barolo in Roberto Voerzio's top range is the Rocche dell'Annunziata from one of the best vineyards in La Morra. For us, it is a benchmark in determination and forward momentum. Wonderfully harmonised fruit and spice components, a great wealth of impressions and precisely drawn beauty characterise this exceptional Barolo. Intensely fragrant nose of plums, preserved cherries and lots of raspberries, rounded off with cedar, spices and tobacco. Its depth, complexity and determination never rest; even 24 hours after opening the bottle, the connoisseur is still surprised by fine notes of mint and balsam and this incredibly expressive and charming wine shows no signs of ageing. "A racy and structured red with orange peel and ripe strawberry. Medium to full body. Tannins are nicely integrated and spread across the palate. Best after 2028." James Suckling

“Pozzo dell’Annunziata” Barbera d’Alba DOC 2016 · MAGNUM in OWC
If you want to know what the most popular grape variety in Piedmont is capable of, you should try this exceptional Barbera from Roberto Voerzio, which is only available in magnum bottles. Concentrated, but never broad or heavy. Refined, but never overpowering. Sour cherry, herbal spice, minerality, finely woven tannins and an almost incomprehensible length. The wine shows impeccable suppleness and elegance in the mouth, carried by a spicy acid accent - an overall performance that will bring unbridled joy to die-hard Barbera lovers ... SUPERIORE.DE
"An exceptional Barbera from the magnum: Only 400 grams of concentrated grapes are harvested per plant. For the first time, this vintage matured in wood for 30 months (previously 24): seductive fruity-spicy bouquet; silky, yet powerful on the palate, the ripe acidity provides structure, opulent, long. Ideal with game and wild fowl." Vinum

Barolo Torriglione DOCG 2016 · MAGNUM in OWC
The Torriglione vineyard is a stone's throw away from Annunziata, and the eponymous single-vineyard Barolo is not only released two years later than the other crus of the house, but it is also exclusively filled in magnum bottles. It shows its very own character first and foremost with a noble restraint and caginess, and its density and complexity only give a taste of what awaits Barolo lovers here after a few minutes of aeration. Here, everything is in its place and there is more than enough of it: freshness, fruit, acidity, tannin, and the whole paired with a finesse that is unparalleled and that one would rather expect in Burgundy or Etna. A wine that indisputably belongs to those that you must have drunk at least once in your life! SUPERIORE.DE

The fact that Roberto Voerzio is considered one of the most talented Barolo winemakers in the world is also due to the fact that he combines modern and traditional production methods in favor of quality. His wines are praised by the world's most renowned wine critics for their balanced fruit, well-integrated tannins and particularly long finish.
This reputation does not come by chance: convinced that the improvement in quality could only be achieved by reducing production, Roberto decided in 1986 to finally experiment on his own. He separated from the parental farm and founded his own winery in one of the eleven villages of the tranquil Barolo area: his birthplace La Morra.
Since then, work in the vineyard has been the linchpin of his uncompromising quality philosophy. Chemical agents are completely avoided, so that the natural growth cycle of the vines can proceed as undisturbed as possible. Each wine embodies its own story and reveals the weather conditions of the season. The uniqueness of the wine selection stems from the other grape varieties in addition to Nebbiolo, so Dolcetto, Barbera and Merlot are given the same care.
"My production embodies a lifelong dream that I have cherished since I was 18 years old," the winemaker recounts in retrospect. The initial two hectares have increased tenfold over the past 30 years and now include the very top vineyards such as La Serra, Cerequio, Brunate, Fossati and Rocche dell'Annunziata. Those who place such great importance on the right vineyards aim to combine the nature of the terroir and the typical characteristics of the grape variety in the wine.
Roberto can't get enough of natural methods of increasing quality and concentrating flavors. He is known for reducing the harvest quantities to 500 grams per plant in some cases through multiple green harvests. In the cellar, however, things are more traditional: his wines are designed for very long aging. Fresh wood tannins or vanilla notes from new, toasted barrels are undesirable, which is why large Slovenian oak barrels are used in addition to used barriques.
Roberto Voerzio's focus is certainly not on the old familiar regional rivalry between modernists and traditionalists, but clearly on cleanly vinified wines that stand up to any quality test. Mercilessly in the most positive sense, every wine here is meticulously put to the test. Roberto's son Davide has internalized this perfectionist approach of his father and together they will certainly give us some impressive wines in the future. SUPERIORE.DE
