Intense ruby red. In the full bouquet fresh and crisp fruits, blackberry, spices and mineral notes. Full and dense on the palate with beautiful primary notes of red berries. The tannins are elegant, silky and warmly enveloping, flanking this pretty red into a precise and clean finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark ruby red. Shows spicy hints on the nose, of ripe Amarena cherries, noble wood, some milk chocolate, dried rose petal, in the aftertaste delicate blackberries. On the palate with a rich fruit core and tightly woven tannin, pithy, presses on the palate, slight after-drying, can and should still mature." Falstaff

“Cassiopea Pagus Cerbaia” Rosato Bolgheri DOC 2017
Pagus Cerbaia refers to a prime small plot of sedimentary soils. This is where the small quantities of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon come from, which are partially fermented in amphorae and oak barrels after the harvest. Bottled in only a few hundred bottles, the "Selection Rosato" offers an intense floral aroma and beguiles the palate in a lively, cheerful way with a lingering spicy note and a wonderfully complex finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"This is very layered and beautiful with sliced-strawberry, lemon and peach character. Medium-bodied, it shows finesse and balance with beautiful fruit and focus. Crisp and dry. Fermented 50 per cent in barrel and 50 per cent in amphora." James Suckling

“Solosole Pagus Camilla” Vermentino Bolgheri DOC 2016
Pagus Camilla comes from a small parcel called "Camilla" near the Sondraia vineyards. Here, the Vermentino grape experiences a higher concentration during ripening with delicate hints of Riesling. This micro-produced "project wine" is a unique example of the grape variety's potential in Bolgheri. Pure and beautiful, citrus aroma, salt, minerality and with full fruit, balanced, long and with very good ageing potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2016 Vermentino Solosole Pagus Camilla is done in a slightly richer, oilier style than the straight Solosole. Apricot, chamomile and exotic floral notes make a strong first impression. Aging on the lees and a touch of skin contact brings out quite a bit of textural resonance to frame the wine beautifully." Vinous
"The 2016 Bolgheri Vermentino Solosole Pagus Camilla represents a special selection of grapes from the Fosse Camilla vineyard. The wine delivers great structure, bright citrus flavors and a spicy close. It sees four days of skin maceration - it is made almost like a red wine but at lower temperatures. This is a terrific wine that can pair with any seafood dish." Robert Parker
"This is the best vermentino I have ever had from Italy. Wonderful concentration and freshness with sliced, dried mango, pineapple and honey character. Full-bodied, layered and intense. Wonderful length." James Suckling

“Sondraia” Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2018
Sondraia - a Cabernet Sauvignon with small additions of Merlot and Cabernet Franc - has a bright colour and a clear, warm aroma of blueberry, raspberry, black cherry and undergrowth. Its intense flavour is powerful, characterised by fine-grained tannin and a seemingly endless finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Elegant ruby red. Ripe, expressive fruit on the nose, of rich cherries, raspberries and wild berry syrup, a hint of sage, underpinned by elegant spice and minimal hints of cold smoke. Shows stout on the palate, with tight tannin, with clear, ripe fruit, lightly malty, minimal tasting, should stay a little longer." Falstaff
"This red is very expressive, featuring juicy black currant, blackberry, licorice, iron and tobacco flavors, with a hint of coconut from the deft oak treatment. Harmonious and long, ending with refined tannins and spice elements." Wine Spectator
"Very pretty currant and chocolate aromas with hints of hazelnut and sweet tobacco. Full-bodied with round tannins and a juicy finish. Lots of structure and richness to this. Cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc. Needs time to soften." James Suckling
"Sondraie, from which the wine gets its name, is a great plateau from Aurelia to Bellaria in the northern side of appellation, one of the best places for Cabernet in Bolgheri. Winemaker Luca d'Attoma is considered one of the best interpreters of Cabernet Franc in Italy and this is always one of the best buys. The 2018 is tinged with violet, leafy on the nose with dark chocolate and a signature aroma of coffee powder. On the palate clove and cassis are melted and in balance. Smooth and ripe, and a touch chalky thanks to the oak tannins on the finish. Amazingly fresh." Decanter

“Sondraia” Bianco Costa Toscana IGT 2019
This is the debut vintage of the single-varietal white "sister" of the famous Sondraia Rosso - Sondraia Viognier Bianco 2019. Kaleidoscopic bouquet with scents of orange blossom, jasmine, yellow fruits, citrus fruits and herbs. Captivating structure and precision on the palate, with a juicy texture that shows off the crisp, layered fruit to good effect. Restrained sweet tannins, fresh acidity and great elegance round off this exceptional white wine from Bolgheri and lead into a full, mineral finish. Be sure to aerate! SUPERIORE.DE

“Teos” Petit Manseng Passito Toscana 2014 dolce · in Original-Holzkiste
This Trockenbeerenauslese from Petit Manseng is a rarity in a very small edition of not even 1,000 bottles. The overripe, dried grapes are only harvested at the end of November/beginning of December and pressed into this very fine and highly elegant passito. Strong golden yellow, rich bouquet with aromas of pickled fruits such as apricots and mild spices, on the palate a rich, fully ripe fruit with pleasant sweetness and harmonious, citrusy acidity. Remarkably long and persistent. SUPERIORE.DE
"Packaged in a 375-milliliter bottle, the 2014 Teos is a pure expression of Petit Manseng made with air-dried grapes. This delicate dessert wine opens to a golden amber color, with notes of honey and toasted chestnut. The acidity in this passito is very high and is the wine's winning card. The process used to make this wine is similar to Recito di Soave, with one month of appassimento in plastic crates." Robert Parker

“Dedicato a Walter” Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2016
Marilisa and Franco Allegrini dedicated this single-varietal Cabernet Franc from their own vineyards on Via Bolgherese to their eldest brother Walter, who died in 2003. The 2015 vintage marked the beginning of an even more radical focus on the terroir and the quality of the grapes. Since then, a third fewer bottles have been filled each year, and the result is now a Bolgheri Superiore from their own grapes from the core zone of Bolgheri, which can hardly be surpassed in elegance and character. Compact and elegant Cabernet Franc with fine tobacco notes, ripe blackcurrant aromas, some pepper and eucalyptus, plus slightly earthy tones. Dense fruit and polished tannin on the palate, clear, rich final. SUPERIORE.DE
"Cabernet Franc in purezza from a 7-hectare vineyard: a potpourri of blackberries, spices and pepper is beguiling from the first sniff; elegant yet full of character with precise tannins, the finish is long and extremely complex. Put it in the cellar for the time being, then it will be even more fun." Vinum
"This red is vibrant and tightly woven, featuring black currant, blackberry, wild herb, iron and spice flavors. The oak is well integrated, as are the powdery tannins. The finish is long and focused." Wine Spectator
"A pretty and firm wine with blackberry and cherry character. Full body, firm and chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Attractive and exciting. Love the tannin structure. 100% cabernet franc." James Suckling
"Poggio al Tesoro's 2016 Dedicato a Walter exudes richness and power in all of its dimensions. Blackberry jam, chocolate, lavender, licorice and menthol all flesh out in an ample, potent wine that shows all the potential of Franc in Tuscany's Maremma. I would give the 2016 another year or so in bottle, as the tannins are a bit imposing at this stage." Vinous
"This is one of the first monovarietal expressions of Cabernet Franc to shine the spotlight on the grape and its exciting performance in Bolgheri. The Poggio al Tesoro 2016 Bolgheri Superiore Dedicato A Walter opens to a darkly saturated and impenetrable appearance. The bouquet is heavily enriched with black fruit, burnt ember, mesquite and campfire ash. The oak is quite evident at this stage, but it should continue to shed and sand away with time. At its core, the wine is packed with black fruit, and you also get delicate notes of rosemary oil, pressed lavender and scorched earth." Robert Parker

Three kilometres from the Tyrrhenian Sea and about 45 kilometres south of Livorno lies the Tenuta Poggio al Tesoro. It borders directly on the Ornellaia winery. The 70 hectare farm in Bolgheri is run by the Allegrini family from the Verona area together with the Italian American and famous wine merchant Leonardo Lo Cascio. The estate manager and her partner have long been known for high-quality red wines in the Valpolicella region. Founded shortly after the turn of the millennium, the company in Bolgheri has consistently continued its upward trend in recent years and today represents the West Tuscan cultivation area very convincingly.
The winery owns three plots of land, of which two in the Bolgheri territory make up the lion's share of the total area. Another area, about six hectares in size, is located in the neighbouring municipality of Bibbona. Because of the scattered cultivation zones - ranging from the sea to the more hilly inland areas - the soils differ. Coarse-grained reddish sand dominates in the locations particularly favoured by nature. The subsoil has high skeletal and clay content, is permeable and thus favours the drainage of water. In other zones the soils are heavy and very sandy. On the sandy and stony plots, Cabernet is the main cultivar, while the clayey and mineral-rich soils are mainly reserved for Merlot. The main vineyards are Via Bolgherese, Le Grottine, Le Sondraie and Valle di Cerbaia. Sites such as Le Sondraie are not only home to foreign red varieties, but also form an excellent base for excellent white grapes such as Vermentino.
After considerable investments, the Tenuta Poggio al Tesoro is now in optimal conditions to produce wonderful crescents. The red wines of the house combine power and complexity and are precisely met. They are by no means lacking elegant features. Among the best wines are the IGT wine Dedicato a Walter made exclusively from Cabernet Franc and the Bolgheri Superiore Sondraia, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The noble wines of Poggio al Tesoro are regularly highly praised by the critics' guild.
The fact that the winery is so important in the denomination is also due to the far-sightedness of Walter Allegrini from Valpolicella. The winegrower, who had died in the meantime, had always been involved in the family business and had made decisive improvements based on his own experiments. It is also responsible for the diversification of the terroir and the grape varieties. SUPERIORE.DE
