Pagus Camilla comes from a small parcel called "Camilla" near the Sondraia vineyards. Here, the Vermentino and Petit Manseng grapes experience greater concentration and complexity during the ripening process. This "project wine", produced in very small quantities, is a unique example of the potential for white wines from Bolgheri. Sondraie, from which the wine takes its name, is a large plateau from Aurelia to Bellaria in the north of the appellation and one of the best sites for Cabernet in Bolgheri. The Oenologist Luca d'Attoma is considered one of the best interpreters of Cabernet Franc in Italy and his wines are always a clear buy. Bright violet colour. The nose is leafy, with dark chocolate and a characteristic aroma of coffee powder, plus blueberry, raspberry, black cherry and undergrowth. On the palate, melted cloves and cassis in perfect balance. Smooth and ripe, with a hint of chalk thanks to the oak tannins on the finish. Amazingly fresh and endlessly long, simply superb! This Dry Berry Selection (Trockenbeerenauslese) from Petit Manseng is a rarity in a very small edition of not even 1,000 bottles. The overripe, dried grapes are harvested only at the end of November/beginning of December and pressed into this very fine and highly elegant passito. Strong golden yellow, rich bouquet with aromas of pickled fruits such as apricots and mild spices, on the palate a rich, fully ripe fruit with pleasant sweetness and harmonious, citrusy acidity.
