“Mediterra” Rosso Toscana IGT 2021
Mediterra with its inviting aromas of paprika, redcurrant, elderberry, sage and black pepper is round and harmonious on the palate with beautiful fruit and spice. With its well-proportioned tannins and well-balanced acidity, Mediterra is a perfect accompaniment to food. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, dark ruby red colour. Aromas of dark plum, blueberries and black pepper on the nose. Soft and mouth-filling on the palate, with a noticeable woody note, slightly drying tannins, juicy fruit flavours and a hint of bitter almond." Falstaff
"This red is signaled by intense aromas of wild blackberry, black pepper, black olive and eucalyptus. Showing earth and underbrush accents that augment the fruity flavors, this firms up on the finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2021 Mediterra is bright, effusive and wonderfully inviting. Crushed flowers, herbs, tobacco, spice and leather meld into a core of juicy dark blue/purplish fruit. The Mediterra offers all of the immediacy of Bolgheri but with tons of freshness more than opulence. It is a hugely appealing style, especially at this level, where wines are typically intended to be drunk essentially on release." Vinous
"Dark chocolate, toasted walnuts, mocha and ripe dark berries on the nose. Medium- to full-bodied and structured with firm but very fine tannins. Shows notes of toasted cedar and bitter spices yet very delicate with integration and balance. Smooth and polished finish." James Suckling

“Solosole” Vermentino Bolgheri DOC 2022
Solosole is a West Tuscan Vermentino in pure culture and shines with a rich, full-bodied taste as well as a beautiful spiciness and acidity. A characterful and profound white from the distinguished DOC Bolgheri and one of our absolute favourites. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2022 Vermentino Solosole is a delight. Candied lime, ginger, passion fruit and crushed rock are beautifully brought out in this crisp, exotic Vermentino. The unusual flavour profile makes Solosole a delicious white wine to drink as an aperitif or with dinner." Vinous
"The nose is floral and citrusy before a slightly sweeter palate of green apple and candied lemon. Almonds dominate the finish, which has a salted almond flavor and almond oil texture." Wine Enthusiast
"Straw yellow with olive green reflections. Floral and fruity nose of rose petal and fresh apple, flint and sage in the aftertaste. On the palate with a rich fruity melting, proper pressure on the palate, taut and tense, then delicately bitter in the final." Falstaff
"A beautiful Vermentino with sliced apple and pear and a hint of ginger. Medium bodied with a nice depth and richness yet energetic. Slight bitterness on the finish. Serious Vermentino." James Suckling

“Cassiopea Pagus Cerbaia” Rosato Bolgheri DOC 2017
Pagus Cerbaia refers to a prime small plot of sedimentary soils. This is where the small quantities of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon come from, which are partially fermented in amphorae and oak barrels after the harvest. Bottled in only a few hundred bottles, the "Selection Rosato" offers an intense floral aroma and beguiles the palate in a lively, cheerful way with a lingering spicy note and a wonderfully complex finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"This is very layered and beautiful with sliced-strawberry, lemon and peach character. Medium-bodied, it shows finesse and balance with beautiful fruit and focus. Crisp and dry. Fermented 50 per cent in barrel and 50 per cent in amphora." James Suckling

Pagus Camilla comes from a small parcel called "Camilla" near the Sondraia vineyards. Here, the Vermentino grape experiences a higher concentration during ripening with delicate hints of Riesling. This micro-produced "project wine" is a unique example of the grape variety's potential in Bolgheri. Pure, deep and beautiful, citrus aroma, salt, minerality and with full fruit, balanced, long and with very good ageing potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2017 Vermentino Solosole Pagus Camilla, is a dense, powerful white - qualities that are accentuated by the warm, dry year. Rich and creamy in the glass, the Pagus Camilla shows the more extroverted side of Vermentino off to great effect. It is a terrific effort for a year that was not easy for whites." Vinous
"Baked apples, mango stones, praline, waxed lemon and chamomile on the nose. It’s medium-to full-bodied with crisp acidity and a waxy texture. Concentrated, complex and textured. Long." James Suckling

“Sondraia” Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2018
Sondraia - a Cabernet Sauvignon with small additions of Merlot and Cabernet Franc - has a bright colour and a clear, warm aroma of blueberry, raspberry, black cherry and undergrowth. Its intense flavour is powerful, characterised by fine-grained tannin and a seemingly endless finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Elegant ruby red. Ripe, expressive fruit on the nose, of rich cherries, raspberries and wild berry syrup, a hint of sage, underpinned by elegant spice and minimal hints of cold smoke. Shows stout on the palate, with tight tannin, with clear, ripe fruit, lightly malty, minimal tasting, should stay a little longer." Falstaff
"The 2018 Bolgheri Superiore Sondraia is soft, open-knit and very easy to drink. Red cherries, plums and mocha are effortlessly woven together. Silky tannins round out this attractive, mid-weight offering from Poggio al Tesoro." Vinous
"This red wine is very expressive, with juicy aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, liquorice, iron and tobacco, with hints of coconut from the skilful oak treatment. Harmonious and long, with refined tannins and spice elements on the finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2018 Bolgheri Superiore Sondraia is already quite toasty with vanilla and dark spice behind black cherry and plum. There is a lot of energy in this vintage and its tannin structure is important. The fruit comes from a 15-hectare site just above sea level at about 25 metres above sea level. The soils are deep and well-drained with clay and loose sand." Wine Advocate
"Sondraie", from where the wine takes its name, is a large plateau from Aurelia to Bellaria in the north of the appellation, one of the best sites for Cabernet in Bolgheri. Winemaker Luca d'Attoma is considered one of the best interpreters of Cabernet Franc in Italy and this is always one of the best buys. The 2018 is purple coloured, leafy on the nose, with dark chocolate and a characteristic aroma of coffee powder. On the palate, clove and cassis are melted and in balance. Supple and ripe, with a hint of chalk thanks to the oak tannins on the finish. Amazingly fresh." Decanter
"Orange blossom and other flowers with currants and raspberries with some black cherries on the nose. Medium to full body, fine and juicy tannins and a flavorful finish. Extremely lively. Drinkable but even better in 2025 and onwards." James Suckling

“Teos” Petit Manseng Passito Toscana IGT 2016 dolce · 0,5l in OWC
This Dry Berry Selection (Trockenbeerenauslese) from Petit Manseng is a rarity in a very small edition of not even 1,000 bottles. The overripe, dried grapes are harvested only at the end of November/beginning of December and pressed into this very fine and highly elegant passito. Strong golden yellow, rich bouquet with aromas of pickled fruits such as apricots and mild spices, on the palate a rich, fully ripe fruit with pleasant sweetness and harmonious, citrusy acidity. Remarkably long and persistent. SUPERIORE.DE

“Dedicato a Walter” Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2017
Marilisa and Franco Allegrini dedicated this single-varietal Cabernet Franc from their own vineyards on Via Bolgherese to their eldest brother Walter, who died in 2003. With the 2015 vintage, an even more radical focus on the terroir and the quality of the grapes began. Since then, a third fewer bottles have been filled each year, and the result is now a Bolgheri Superiore from their own grapes from the core zone of Bolgheri, which can hardly be surpassed in elegance and character. Compact and elegant Cabernet Franc with fine tobacco notes, ripe blackcurrant aromas, some pepper and eucalyptus, plus slightly earthy tones. Dense fruit and polished tannin on the palate, clear, rich final. SUPERIORE.DE
"Elegant ruby red. Spicy, inviting nose, delicate fumé, clear forest berries, elderberries and mint on the nose, red pepper, great herbal spice. On the palate very powerful and present, dense in attack and course, currently still very young." Falstaff
"The 2017 Bolgheri Superiore Dedicato a Walter is a plush, beguiling wine. Inky blue/purplish fruit, lavender, spice, cedar and dried flowers give the 2017 layers of nuance. Here, too, there seems to be a pronounced shift to a style that emphasizes greater elegance and nuance than in the past. I especially admire the persistence here. The 2017 should be a gem with a few years in bottle." Vinous
"Sweet berries and cherries with some fresh-herb undertones. Very perfumed. It’s full-bodied, yet fresh and linear, with brightness and firmness at the same time. Really linear and layered. Needs two or three years to soften. Best from 2024." James Suckling
"Laced with vanilla, cherry, floral, herbal and oak spice aromas and flavors, this elegant red is tightly wound, needing time to absorb the oak, yet beautifully balanced, lingering with fruit, spice and mineral notes on the long finish." Wine Spectator

“Dedicato a Walter” Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2019
Marilisa and Franco Allegrini dedicated this single-varietal Cabernet Franc from their own vineyards on Via Bolgherese to their eldest brother Walter, who passed away in 2003. The 2015 vintage marked the beginning of an even more radical focus on the terroir and the quality of the grapes. Since then, a third fewer bottles have been filled each year, resulting in a Bolgheri Superiore from the estate's own grapes from the Bolgheri core zone that is hard to beat in terms of elegance and character. Compact and elegant Cabernet Franc with a fine tobacco note, ripe blackcurrant flavours, some pepper and eucalyptus, plus slightly earthy tones. Dense fruit and polished tannins on the palate, clear, rich final. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Bolgheri Superiore Dedicato a Walter 2019 is great. Here, the extracted style works well to bring out the essence of the Cabernet Franc. Dark fruit, leather, smoke, chocolate, tobacco and cloves give the 2019 an impressive depth. Although it is very intense, the 2019 is by no means over the top. It offers great depth and intensity, with all elements very well balanced." Vinous
"The nose is a light lunch on a rocky beach, where the dusty stones contrast with the sanguinity of bresaola and the richness of sweet chili jam. The jam spreads onto the palate, but the meatiness doesn't go anywhere either, before a crackle of black pepper sets up a lingering finish." Wine Enthusiast
"Cabernet Franc in purezza, which impressively demonstrates how well the terroir is suited to this grape variety: Intriguing cherry-bitter chocolate bouquet, tinged with spicy notes; the attack is powerful, the fine-grained tannins and acidity in balance, elegant finish with plenty of fruit and noble character." Vinum
"Beautiful fruit and freshness with a brightness and energy that lifts the wine. It is medium to full-bodied with a bright and juicy palate. Blackcurrant and yellow pepper with some orange blossom. It is bright and fluid in an intriguing way. It's drinkable, but it will only get better with time." James Suckling

Three kilometres from the Tyrrhenian Sea and about 45 kilometres south of Livorno lies the Tenuta Poggio al Tesoro. It borders directly on the Ornellaia winery. The 70 hectare farm in Bolgheri is run by the Allegrini family from the Verona area together with the Italian American and famous wine merchant Leonardo Lo Cascio. The estate manager and her partner have long been known for high-quality red wines in the Valpolicella region. Founded shortly after the turn of the millennium, the company in Bolgheri has consistently continued its upward trend in recent years and today represents the West Tuscan cultivation area very convincingly.
The winery owns three plots of land, of which two in the Bolgheri territory make up the lion's share of the total area. Another area, about six hectares in size, is located in the neighbouring municipality of Bibbona. Because of the scattered cultivation zones - ranging from the sea to the more hilly inland areas - the soils differ. Coarse-grained reddish sand dominates in the locations particularly favoured by nature. The subsoil has high skeletal and clay content, is permeable and thus favours the drainage of water. In other zones the soils are heavy and very sandy. On the sandy and stony plots, Cabernet is the main cultivar, while the clayey and mineral-rich soils are mainly reserved for Merlot. The main vineyards are Via Bolgherese, Le Grottine, Le Sondraie and Valle di Cerbaia. Sites such as Le Sondraie are not only home to foreign red varieties, but also form an excellent base for excellent white grapes such as Vermentino.
After considerable investments, the Tenuta Poggio al Tesoro is now in optimal conditions to produce wonderful crescents. The red wines of the house combine power and complexity and are precisely met. They are by no means lacking elegant features. Among the best wines are the IGT wine Dedicato a Walter made exclusively from Cabernet Franc and the Bolgheri Superiore Sondraia, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The noble wines of Poggio al Tesoro are regularly highly praised by the critics' guild.
The fact that the winery is so important in the denomination is also due to the far-sightedness of Walter Allegrini from Valpolicella. The winegrower, who had died in the meantime, had always been involved in the family business and had made decisive improvements based on his own experiments. It is also responsible for the diversification of the terroir and the grape varieties. SUPERIORE.DE
"The wines remain faithful to the ideas of their creators and demonstrate a precise style and enviable consistency. A safe tip at a high level in this overcrowded wine country."Gambero Rosso
