![Falanghina Campania IGT 2022]()
Falanghina Campania IGT 2022
A top-class Falanghina that is immediately and uncompromisingly inviting: juicy and aromatic, with ripe fruit and mineral freshness in fine harmony. The Montefredane (Irpinia) vineyard provides calcareous and clay-rich soils, and the 2022 vintage benefited from moderate temperatures and a cool ripening phase – good conditions for finesse and acidity structure. Matured exclusively in stainless steel tanks, the wine appears unadulterated and varietally typical in expression. Bright, pale straw yellow in the glass – clear and transparent. The bouquet is fine and appealing: white flowers, yellow peach, citrus zest, complemented by fruity notes of pear and fine herbal tones. A delicate spiciness and salty minerality round off the bouquet. SUPERIORE.DE

![Fiano Campania IGT 2020]()
Fiano Campania IGT 2020
Pietracupa's Fiano 2020 is a prime example of how precise and complex this grape variety from the Irpinia highlands can be. The vines grow on limestone and clay-rich soils around Montefredane, where cool nights and a long growing season ensure fine flavours and elegant structure. 2020 brought balanced conditions that harmoniously combined freshness and ripeness. Medium straw yellow with golden reflections. The bouquet is multi-layered: ripe apricot, candied lemon, hazelnut, white flowers and a hint of honey, underpinned by mineral notes. Dense yet straightforward on the palate, with juicy acidity, fine texture and a long, slightly salty finish. A Fiano with depth and clarity that is a true reflection of its origin and will continue to gain expression over the coming years. SUPERIORE.DE

A finely integrated expression of the autochthonous grape variety, cultivated by the innovative Pietracupa winery and one of the best interpretations of the Greco grape every year. The 2020 vintage revealed balanced ripeness with cool nights and moderate growth, resulting in grapes with a precise acid structure and aromatic depth. Matured in stainless steel tanks, this wine remains clear and typical of the variety in terms of expression and structure. Brilliant straw yellow in the glass with a delicate greenish reflection. The aroma combines ripe pear, yellow citrus fruit, lime blossom and a hint of spring meadow, accompanied by light minerality. ![Fiano Campania IGT 2021]()
Fiano Campania IGT 2021
The 2021 Fiano from Pietracupa shows how this grape variety can unfold its full potential in a climatically ideal year. A dry, warm summer, followed by cool nights from mid-August, ensured perfect phenolic ripeness with lively acidity. As usual, the limestone and clay-rich soils of the high altitudes around Montefredane contributed their mineral signature. Light golden yellow in the glass. Ripe pear, yellow peach, lemon blossom, a hint of toasted almond and delicate herbal notes on the nose. On the palate, it shows a little more volume and mellowness than the 2020, without losing any of its precision: creamy texture, ripe fruit, clearly defined acidity and a finely salty, very long finish. 2021 is a Fiano with elegance and depth – somewhat richer than its predecessor, yet just as focussed and with great potential for harmonious ageing. ![Taurasi DOCG 2016]()
Taurasi DOCG 2016
The Taurasi 2016 from Pietracupa is a lesson in patience and precision – an Aglianico from high vineyards in Irpinia that only reveals its complex spectrum of flavours after years of ripening. The year 2016 brought ideal conditions: a moderate summer, sufficient rainfall and a long, dry autumn, which allowed a late harvest of healthy, perfectly ripe grapes. Deep dark ruby red in the glass with a garnet-red rim. The nose is multi-layered and rich in detail: black cherry, blackberry, ripe plum, dried violets, tobacco, dark chocolate, graphite and fine spice nuances. It is powerful on the palate, with a firm tannin structure, lively acidity and fruit that is carried by fresh energy despite its maturity. Ageing over many months in large wooden barrels gives the wine depth and harmonious integration of flavours. The finish is long, balsamic and characterised by mineral spice – a Taurasi with great nobility that combines the power of Aglianico with cool precision.

Sabino Loffredo is one of the most talented and successful winemakers in southern Italy. Because he had to give up his career as a sportsman after an accident, the talented wine taster moved to the Pietracupa family estate in Montefredane at the turn of the millennium, which was still managed by his father Peppino, where he steadily expanded his project and led the business to great heights in just a few years. Thanks to his craftsmanship and his great determination, Sabino has succeeded in producing wines in a personal and unmistakable style that are highly appreciated far beyond Campania. Today, the owner of the estate, who works with great seriousness and rather quietly, is not only regarded as one of the most successful newcomers and one of the best producers of fragrant mineral white wines, but also as a much sought-after producer of spicy-elegant red wines.
It is quite astonishing how Loffredo, with his own sensitivity, succeeds again and again in the Azienda Vinicola Pietracupa in forming brilliant plants with a high ageing potential from the great varieties Fiano and Greco. The white wines of the small farm, located in the province of Avellino, which reliably represent the terroir of Irpinia, are vinified without maceration and malolactic fermentation. They are stored in steel barrels for up to several months in yeast residues resulting from fermentation before being bottled. When the white drops are matured, the determined landowner takes great care to preserve the acidity. The juicy and characteristic red wines based on the local Aglianico are in no way inferior to the other creations in terms of purity and stylistic individuality.
The vineyards of Pietracupa reach heights of up to 800 metres. The soils are loamy and calcareous. Thanks to good south-eastern locations, the vines benefit from a microclimate with sufficiently high temperature fluctuations, which allows the grapes to ripen very well.
The successes of Loffredo in the vineyard and in the cellar, which were initially often regarded as the surprise results of an outsider, have already been praised several times by wine critics. For example, before 2006, no other Campania winery had received the award from the Wine Guide Gambero Rosso"A climber of the year" received. The awards have contributed to the fact that the Pietracupa wines have conquered a firm place among the top Italian wines. SUPERIORE.DE
