A creamy-sweet fruit bomb but not at all over the top, offering a remarkably light touch to its flavors of red fruit and herbs. • "Le Cinciole" Chianti Classico DOCG 2016 (BIO)

“Le Cinciole” Chianti Classico DOCG 2016 (BIO)

Floral aromas and the scent of light red fruits, with undertones of tobacco, foliage and menthol, which in the glass develop into a successful terroir wine that preserves the fragrance and primary aromas of the young Sangiovese. Pleasantly medium-bodied and authentic. SUPERIORE.DE

"Medium intensive red; warm fruit notes, depth, inviting, round base, juicy acidity, intact fruit, fine tart, very beautiful, also length. Merum

"Le Cinciole's 2016 Chianti Classico is gorgeous. Fresh, floral and light on its feet, the 2016 offers striking Sangiovese character in its flavor profile and overall structure. Sweet red cherry, mint, pine and freshly cut flowers add to the wine's lithe, refined personality. The 2016 is all class, all the way, not to mention a huge overachiever in its peer group." Vinous

"In 1991 Luca and Valeria Orsini left their jobs in Milan to make wine in Tuscany. Their estate includes 10 hectares of southeast facing vineyards in Panzano and the wines have been certified organic from 2000. A standout 2016 annata, this is discreet with understated scents of cherry blossom, heather and rose. The palate is decidedly red fruited with currants and raspberry embraced by finely textured, powdery persistent tannins. It has beautiful energy and above all allows Sangiovese's true charms to shine through." Decanter

Deep dark Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva with a beguiling scent of dark red cherries and berry fruits, along with earthy notes, tar, spices and liquorice. "A mouthful of wine" in an incredibly appealing style. Spelt has a remarkable concentration and excellent length. SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright, shining ruby grenade. In the nose of ripe forest berries and raspberries, elegant fruit, delicate spice, in the aftertaste of bread crust and light leather. Juicy and clear on the palate, spreads elegantly, crisp fruit with tightly woven tannin, appears very young, in the aftertaste again juicy and slightly salty, good and safe ripening potential." Falstaff

"Moderately saturated ruby. Ink, smoke, plum and red berries dominate the inviting nose. Then youthfully chewy but fine-grained, boasting long, clean, savory flavors that bring the aromas to mind. This strapping Montepulciano is relatively light on its feet." Vinous

    • "Filetta di Lamole" Chianti Classico DOCG 2016 (BIO)

“Filetta di Lamole” Chianti Classico DOCG 2016 (BIO)

Filetta di Lamole comes from selected Lamole vineyards of the Giovanni Manettis family and was vinified for the first time in 2015. A multi-layered, elegant Chianti Classico, which plays out its aromas nuanced and shows a fascinating structure. Ruby red with bright reflections. A complex bouquet of cherry, followed by tarry notes, violets and forest blossoms. In this wine one recognizes the handwriting of Fontodi, and yet it is different because it is more subtle and restrained with its existing powers. A wonderful new addition to the Fontodi portfolio that underlines the class and versatility of the estate. SUPERIORE.DE

"Brilliant ruby with a light garnet edge. Open, inviting nose with ripe fruit, plum and cherry, violet. Ground and fine in consistency and flow, much fine-meshed tannin, clear cherry fruit." Falstaff

"Concentrated mid ruby. Oatmeal and minerally notes on the nose. With aeration a little perfumed. Impressive concentration of embryonic fruit on the palate. Gorgeous balance and with bags of tasty tannins on the finish." Jancis Robinson

"The 2016 Chianti Classico Filetta di Lamole is terrific. In this vintage, Filetta di Lamole is especially deep, certainly moreso than the first two vintages. At the same time, the 2016 shows all the signatures that are typical of this cool-climate site, with plenty of game, sage, licorice, menthol and spice overtones that add character to a core of dark blue/purplish berry fruit." Vinous

"The 2016 Chianti Classico Filetta di Lamole is a beautifully intense and direct expression that delivers a full bouquet of rich primary fruit with direct confidence and extreme precision. The wine is tight and streamlined with cooling fruit flavors of wild berry, cassis and sour cherry backed by linear mineral notes of crushed stone and flint. It is lightweight in terms of consistency with a fine and elegant close. Filetta di Lamole shows a slightly wild or untamed character within the greater Fontodi house style. The fruit comes from the cool-climate, high-altitude Lamole subregion (with vines planted at 600 meters above sea level), and this explains the wine's fragile and finely knit approach." Robert Parker

"The 2016 growing season was cooler than 2015, resulting in a long, slow ripening and a later harvest. After finishing picking the Fontodi vineyards, Giovanni Manetti harvested this higher altitude plot in Lamole between 14 and 16 October. Earthy rather than fruit-driven, this wine gradually reveals cranberry bush, wild red currants and rosepetal aromas. While the frame is lean, the fine, chalky tannins build to support the sinewy fruit. A more angular expression than Fontodi but really should be appreciated in its own right." Decanter

"A touch of new oak lends spice notes to the mix of cherry, berry, tobacco and wild herb flavors. Densely wrought, with the tannins leaving a resonant tactile sensation as this plays out on the long finish. Balanced, but will need a little time to soften and harmonize." Wine Spectator

"I love the freshness to this red that shows citrus, violets, fresh herbs and lavender. Driven and very tangy with angular, cutthroat acidity and a zippy finish. Delicious and an amazing food wine." James Suckling

Cultus Boni, a Chianti Classico Riserva of modern design, delights with its generous mineral and graphite berry bouquet and soft, juicy taste. The fine tannins and the well proportioned acidity give it a harmonious hold. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2013 Chianti Classico Riserva Cultus Boni is a dark and more elaborate interpretation made in the slightly cooler and wilder comune of Gaiole in Chianti. This wine reveals savory tones of tobacco and dark spice with flinty and ashy aromas as well. It presents a sound and solid quality of fruit with dark overtones of meaty cherry and plum." • Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2016 (BIO)

Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2016 (BIO)

Strong ruby red, as expected from a good traditionally and organically produced wine. A wonderful, elegant and intense fragrance spectrum between sour cherry and nutmeg. On the palate beautifully balanced and with lots of youthful freshness in the long finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright ruby red. Open and inviting nose with floral aromas, rich cherry, raspberry, dried rose petal. Balanced and juicy drink, stretches nicely over the tongue, hearty and clear, great riserva." Falstaff

"Lustrous mid ruby. Lifted cherry with minerally, saline notes and hints of crushed shells. Transparent, medium-bodied palate with fine yet gripping tannins. Fluid, sour-cherry fruit on the finish. Still embryonic, and with lots of potential." Jancis Robinson

"The 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva Badia a Coltibuono is a very pretty wine with lovely aromatic nuance and plenty of character to match its mid-weight personality. Crushed flowers, mint, lavender, spice and black cherry are all finely knit in this attractive, mid-weight Riserva. Fresh and energetic, the 2016 will drink nicely for many years to come." Vinous

"This is firmly placed in red-fruit territory with frozen strawberries, dried red cherries and fresh herbs. Round and juicy on the medium-to full-bodied palate and succulent on the finish." James Suckling

"Badia a Coltibuono traces its history back to the 11th century when Vallombrosian monks founded the abbey and started planting the area's first vineyards. The Stucchi Prinetti family who now own the property have bottles of Riserva dating back to 1937. Rounded out with a dollop of Canaiolo Nero, Ciliegiolo and Colorino, it is uncluttered by oak nuances. Accented by strawberry, juniper and tarragon, it glides smoothly across the palate with tame, chalky tannins and dusty black cherry on the finish. Accessible now, this has in bones to age gracefully over the next decade. I always appreciate the steadfast, recognisable personality of Coltibuono's elegant Riserva." Decanter

"Showing beautiful results in an excellent vintage, the 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva is a graceful and elegantly tempered red wine. It makes good on all the basic promises of traditional Sangiovese: the complexity and elegance of the grape and that fresh acidity. It opens to a mid-weight style, making this a perfect wine for roast chicken and roast potatoes. Pretty mineral notes appear on the close, and the tannin is beautifully integrated." Robert Parker

The Guide Slow-Wine, published for the first time in 2010, emerged from the Slow-Food movement after it was Gambero Rossoseparated from it. The well-known Italian wine critics Giancarlo Gariglio and Fabio Giavedoni were able to win over around 200 experienced tasters for their new project.

More than 21,000 wines from over 2,000 wineries were tasted, of which almost 1,900 made it into the Guide. 8,500 wines were recorded.

There is no scoring, but descriptions of the company philosophy, the vineyard locations and the wines that the tasters particularly liked. The ecological way of thinking, regional grape varieties and fair prices are important. SUPERIORE.DE
