“Rubiolo” Chianti Classico DOCG 2020 (BIO)
Chianti Classico Rubiolo shows its delicately spicy side on the nose with cloves, cinnamon, lavender, wild dark cherries and blackberries that are nicely ripe but not overripe. These are joined by floral hints. The fruit for this immensely good value wine comes from Castellina and Panzano, with the richness and richness of the Panzano area evident. The finish is soft and velvety. It is the exceptional balance of the wine that really sets it apart. SUPERIORE.DE

Valletta is a blend of Sangiovese from Castellina and Merlot from Panzano. Radiantly bright, exuberant and beautiful. Red fruits, spices and floral accents combine in a sensual, wonderfully inviting wine that is very approachable even when young. SUPERIORE.DE
"Aromas of plums, dried flowers and bark follow through to a medium body with round, juicy tannins and a soft, bright finish. Half merlot from Panzano and half sangiovese from Castellina in Chianti. Pretty finish." James Suckling
"The 2019 Valletta is a blend of equal parts Sangiovese and Merlot. It’s a combination that works quite well in this vintage. Succulent dark cherry and plum fruit open first, followed by sweet tobacco, mocha, dried herbs, leather and cedar. Sangiovese aromatics and bright acids complement a core of Merlot fruit nicely." Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2019 (BIO)
The grapes for Gaglioles Riserva come from vineyards in Panzano that used to belong to Le Cinciole and neighbouring Gagliole. Dark and full-bodied in the glass, it shows the full range of the Conca d'Oro area of Panzano, but does so in a pleasantly restrained style that is typical of the elegant 2019. Currently still very young, in a few years it will be much more enjoyable. SUPERIORE.DE
"Harmony and depth in this version that bears the ancient name of this beautiful farm. Complex nose, blackberries and blueberries together with mentholated touches and floral nuances, of carnation, dense and taut mouth, savory tannins, juicy finish, with mentholated-floral return." Luca Gardini
"Beautiful aromas of roses and other flowers, together with fresh cherries and lemon rind, following through to a medium body with freshness and vivid intensity to the finish. Spicy at the end." James Suckling
"Only in its second vintage, the certified organic Gagliole 2019 Chianti Classico Riserva addresses the need for a category that sits between the entry-level reds and the high-end Gran Selezione wines. Fruit is sourced exclusively from Panzano for an intense ruby color shaded by elegant darkness. Aromas recall blackberry, graphite, flint and white pepper. This wine prizes freshness, a streamlined mouthfeel and those pretty mineral notes that drive a very long and polished finish." Wine Advocate

“Gallule” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2019 (BIO)
Gallule is the flagship of the compelling Chianti Classico range and is extremely finely balanced and precise. The Sangiovese grapes are harvested from an old terraced vineyard in Castellina in Chianti. It offers depth and a long sequence of delicate nuances with dark fruits, balsamic herbs, liquorice and freshly ploughed potting soil. This Gran Selezione is a complete and beautiful wine, executed in a very classic style to boot. Gallule is all about the little details, which reveal themselves with each sip. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sweet oak on the nose with tobacco and mocha. The palate is clean, elegant, with good tannins and a long finish." Decanter
"Very fine tannins frame this energetic and bright Chianti Classico with red fruits like cherries. It is medium-bodied with bright acidity and a crisp finish. A post-modern Gran Selezione." James Suckling
"The 2019 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Gallule is a 100% Sangiovese from the terraced vineyards of the original estate in Castellina. The 2019 is bright and powerful, with lively acids and is already very expressive today. Nevertheless, it still needs a few years in the bottle to develop. The purity of the fruit is striking. Red and purple fruits, spices, mint and blood orange are beautifully brought out. This is the first year that barrels were introduced. The larger oak format seems to give the wine more finesse and freshness. There is so much to admire here." Vinous
"The organic Gagliole 2019 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Gallule comes from a vineyard site in Castellina in Chianti with 20- to 50-year-old vines. Only 2,438 bottles were made. The Gallule shows additional textural heft and fruit weight, and structure too, with black fruit tones of plum and blackberry. Despite its bigger overall dimensions, there is a graceful side to the wine with rose, lilac and sweet potting soil. Ultimately, this vintage will be remembered for its concentration and power." "Bright ruby red. The nose is predominantly characterised by the use of wood, sweet vanilla aroma, butter biscuits, then dark berry fruit and a hint of spice in the finish. Dense and full on the palate, spreads pleasantly and with good pressure over the tongue, currently still a little young, good future." Falstaff
"Aromas of mulberries, plums, dried flowers, toffee and cigar box. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, fine tannins and fresh acidity. Round and creamy, with texture and a polished core of fruit and chocolate on the finish." James Suckling

It sports an accessible or contemporary personality with soft tannins that make it easy to like and especially easy to pair with a home-cooked meal." Wine Advocate

“Balisca” Cabernet Sauvignon Colli della Toscana Centrale IGT 2018 · MAGNUM
Balisca is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the winery's vineyards in Panzano. It is deep, rich and very layered, exuding tremendous purity from start to finish. The notes of the grape variety are very finely sketched in a smooth, very expressive wine with lots of personality and character. If there was any doubt that barrel fermentation works better for Cabernet Sauvignon than for Sangiovese, Balisca is proof. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark ruby red with a drop of violet. In the nose first after noble woods, then opens on grated blackcurrants, cold smoke, noble vanilla, holds back altogether and invites nevertheless. On the palate with concentration and spice, stretches grippingly across the tongue, with tightly woven tannin, savoury and with beautiful juiciness, long final, after wild berries." Falstaff
"The Cabernet Sauvignon once used in the IGT Gagliole has been spun off to create this wine. The 2018 Balisca draws its organic fruit from Panzano, although new vineyard sites near Badia a Passignano and the charming Cappella dei Pesci could enter the program. The fruit is fermented and aged in oak to produce a tightly knit, full-bodied texture that prizes freshness, density and linearity. The aromas are focused and bright with dark fruit, campfire ash and Mediterranean herb." Wine Advocate
"The 2018 Balisca is a tiny production of 1,500 bottles, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Panzano, one of the spots in Chianti Classico where Cabernet works well. Blackberry, sage, menthol, licorice abound. This is a wine of tremendous character and distinction. I am so curious to see how this ages. The purity of the fruit is remarkable, but the aromatics need time to develop." Vinous

"Powerful, sparkling ruby. Opens with rich notes of dark cherry, blackberry, and some leather. Nice pressure on the palate, creamy, fine tannin." Falstaff
"The 2018 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Gallule is for the first time a Gran Selezione. It emerges from the old terraces in Gagliole's Castellina estate. Black cherry, plum, leather, menthol and spice build as the 2018 opens in the glass. A wine of texture and resonance, the 2018 has quite a bit to offer." Vinous
"Flowers and blackberries with bark and walnut undertones. Full-bodied with extremely well crafted tannins that give depth and length. Serious balance and structure. Goes on for a long time. Very clear character here." James Suckling
"This organic wine has been upgraded to Gran Selezione status. With fruit from a terraced vineyard in Castellina in Chianti made with ancient stone walls, the Gagliole 2018 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Gallule is an intricate and complicated wine to craft. Sangiovese vines range in age from 20 to 60 years old, and the final blend represents a special match of various sub-plots that changes each year. Fruit selection is key. The results are lucid and especially bright, aromatically speaking, with forest floor, wild cherry, lavender, crushed oyster shell and plum. There's even a touch of smoked ham. Castellina tends to be cooler at night with greater diurnal shifts, and this adds pretty freshness." Wine Advocate

Olive trees, cypresses and terraced vineyards supported by ancient dry stone walls ... the Antico Podere Gagliole estate is a little jewel that holds all the charm of Tuscany. More than thirty years ago, the Swiss Monika and Thomas Bär let themselves be enchanted by the beauty of the Chianti Classico region. On the Gagliole estate in Castellina in Chianti, they finally found their second home and a new vocation.
Initially, the couple leased their original three hectares of land to neighbouring wine producers. But when they tasted the wine produced from the grapes on their property in 1993, they decided to farm their vines on their own and become winemakers. Since then, no expense or effort has been spared at the Gaglione estate to produce full-bodied organic wines that rival the top neighbouring competition.
The opportunity to expand Gagliole's production and raise its quality to a higher level finally came in 2011: the acquisition of the neighbouring La Valletta vineyard brought the Bär family ten hectares of vines in the stunning Conca d'Oro (golden shell) in the village of Panzano. This exceptional vineyard site is a natural amphitheatre at 510 metres above sea level with ideal growing conditions.
Today, Gagliole has 22 hectares of vines that are cultivated according to organic guidelines. In addition to the top sites in the Conca d'Oro, they cultivate eight hectares of vines in Castellina, while the remaining four hectares are in Badia a Passignano. These three growing zones have a rather rare subsoil in common: the brownish-yellow soils consist of Pietraforte, a calcareous sandstone on which Sangiovese thrives particularly well.
The famous red grape variety plays an extremely important role in the Gagliole range. The Rubiola Chianti Classico and Riserva are single-varietal Sangiovese and, together with the Merlot blend Valletta, reflect the drinkywine style of the house. The pinnacle of production comes out in the single varietal Pecchia from Conca d'Oro, the magnificent Gran Selezione Gallule and the incomparable signature wine Gagliole. After being aged in barriques for a year, the precious drops mature in small twelve-hectolitre French oak barrels.
The range is vinified in the state-of-the-art winery, built in 2019 and fully dedicated to sustainable wine production. Despite modern working methods, the Gagliole winery preserves the centuries-old tradition of the area, capturing the characteristics of this enchanting Tuscan designation of origin in the glass.
