      "The 2015 Barolo Via Nuova is a blend of fruit from Barolo, Monforte d'Alba and Serralunga d'Alba, and each site adds elegance, power and structure, respectively.     After the death of Luigi Pira, good advice was expensive because his sisters could not continue the traditional family business in the middle of Barolo. But after about a year, the Piedmont winery was sold to Luigi's long-time friends, the Boschis family. The previous owner had already been a myth during his lifetime and the last winemaker in Barolo to mash his grapes with his feet. When Chiara Boschi, a very young and energetic woman, took over the business from her parents in the eighties, she quickly picked up on the achievements of the noble vineyard in the Langhe.

    Chiara is passionate about her work, which is sometimes very hard, and accompanies all the phases between the vine and the bottling line with attention. In the course of time, the winemaker has refined her wine style and developed it into a balanced harmony. Their plants are smoother today and reach drinking maturity a little earlier. The wines are ageing capable and convince in the course of the years by an unusual complexity and depth. To the E. Pira Winery & Figli counting magnificent vineyards is worked in an extremely environmentally friendly way, chemical substances are taboo in all plots. The grapes are always of the highest quality.

    The intelligent, technically very experienced and always friendly landowner has joined the Piedmontese group "Langa in" which, among other things, revolutionised Barolo through shorter maceration times and the use of barriques. When Chiara publicly presents her own labels, she always seems very distinguished and eloquent to her interlocutors. But their attention is not only focused on the excellent wines. Together with some other disciples, the winemaker also produces Castelmagno, the most famous cheese in Piedmont, which is coveted by gourmets. (superiore)
