      Nebbiolo Langhe DOC 2017

Intense color, a fresh bouquet of red fruits and sweet floral notes, tannin-firm taste, beautiful harmony between acidity and alcohol, medium weight, persistent finish. For years our price-performance winner among the Nebbioli from the Langhe! SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2017 Langhe Nebbiolo is an elegant expression that shows tonic and fresh fruit with wild berry, rose hip and tilled earth. This wine excels in terms of presenting Nebbiolo in its most pure and naked state. This vintage shows an extra level of concentration and textural richness with a clear tannic bite on the close." • Barbaresco DOCG 2015

      Barbaresco DOCG 2015

In a deep, lively ruby to garnet red the Barbaresco shows itself with the extensive Bouquet of red fruits and pastries and a mineral touch. It has a rich, solid structure and a continuous evolution that ends in a long, fragrant finish. Every year, the leading winegrowers' cooperative in Italy shows with its basic Barbaresco what it and its members are capable of. Complimenti! SUPERIORE.DE

"Barbaresco. Tasted blind. Concentrated ruby. Lots of concentrated, sweet cherry fruit and grainy tannins and plenty of acidity, too. Generous, tannic and long with youthful vigour but can be approached now. Good ageing potential." Jancis Robinson

"Rose petal, dark spice and camphor aromas slowly take shape in the glass along with a whiff of tar. Juicy and delicious, the smooth full-bodied palate has a weightless elegance, delivering succulent Marasca cherry, ripe raspberry, licorice and tobacco while fine-grained tannins provide support." Wine Enthusiast

"The 2015 vintage opens to a visibly darker color and thicker concentration compared to recent past vintages. Next to the upcoming 2016 and 2017 editions, we can expect 2015 to be the most fruit-forward of the three. You get dark tones of plum and blackberry with dry tannins at the rear." Robert Parker

"Charming aromas of cherry, strawberry and rose are inviting in this red, with flavors to match, showing ripeness and focus. Earth and mineral elements chime in as this firms up, but the harmony is there and this should really sing in about five years." Wine Spectator

In a deep, lively ruby to garnet red the Barbaresco shows itself with the extensive Bouquet of red fruits and pastries and a mineral touch. Its taste is convincing due to its rich, solid structure and continuous development, which ends in a long-winded, fragrant final. The leading winegrowers' cooperative in Italy already shows every year with its basic Barbaresco what it and its members are capable of. Complimenti! SUPERIORE.DE

"Tasted blind. Youthful looking mid ruby. Iron, oats and lifted sweet, rich fruit. Bags of ripe cherry on the palate but nothing out of kilter or overdone. Tannic layer under generous sweet-sour cherry fruit. Embryonic and with plenty of stuffing." Jancis Robinson

"Cherry, tar and menthol flavors mark this rich, silky red. Even more expansive on the palate, building to a long, complex aftertaste. Beautifully balanced, this picks up a minerally accent on the finish." Wine Spectator

"The 2016 Barbaresco is a stunning wine with tremendous richness for this bottling. Ample, deep and powerful, the 2016 exudes pedigree and class from start to finish. I can't remember a straight Barbaresco here with this much fruit density and unctuous richness, and yet there is more than enough tannin and overall structure to give the wine its classically leaning feel. A blast of sweet red cherry fruit, tobacco, menthol licorice and smoke hits the potent finish. What a wine!" Vinous

"Enticing aromas of violet, woodland berry, loose vineyard soil, wild mint and a hint of spearmint shape the intensely fragrant nose. The tense, young palate is still nervous but already boasts finesse, showing wild raspberry, crunchy red cherry, white pepper and star anise. Firm, refined tannins and racy acidity give it a linear, almost austere elegance, while bright acidity keeps it focused and balanced." (Cellar Selection) Wine Enthusiast

"The 2016 Barbaresco is a tight and beautiful wine that will require more time to unwind and soften. This beautifully balanced vintage is characterized by a tight inner core of fruit that underlines the graceful aging capacity of these wines. The 2016 is shaping up to be one destined for long cellar aging. Now in its youth, the wine offers wild berry, rose and licorice aromas." Robert Parker

    • Barbaresco Pora Riserva DOCG 2014

      Barbaresco Pora Riserva DOCG 2014

Pora overwhelms with incredible complexity and a variety of aromas ranging from raspberries and liquorice to dried flowers, spices and white truffles. On the palate, Pora Noblesse offers a certain noblesse and seriousness before it opens with bite and juiciness and ends velvety wide. SUPERIORE.DE

"Promising scent of stone fruit, leather and tobacco; juicy in the mouth, the acidity perceptible, the tannin well integrated, racy and powerful, yet rich in finesse. To saddle of venison." Vinum

"Lustrous mid ruby with orange tinges. Sweet, peppery raspberry nose with hints of strawberry jam. Clean-cut raspberry palate with plenty of acidity, but the fragrant fruit follows through. Fine layer of sandy tannins that become more prominent on the finish." Jancis Robinson

"I had tasted this vintage last year as a barrel sample. Now a fully complete wine, the 2014 Barbaresco Riserva Pora did not disappoint, and even jumped up a few points. The Riserva Pora opens to dark fruit intensity with a slightly more accessible quality. Those lovely floral tones of lavender and violet are ever present. After having spent three years in oak and another year in the bottle, this wine offers a looser mouthfeel in terms of tannic structure, making it a bit more open and immediate in personality. You could uncork this bottle in 2020 if you just can't wait, but ideally, it is meant for the longer haul." Robert Parker

"Although Pora is a relatively low-elevation site and can produce broad wines, Produttori's growers own almost half the cru, so they can select the best grapes for this Riserva. It's beautifully perfumed, with pure raspberry fruit. The palate is streamlined and poised, with a sleek texture and a remarkable purity of flavour, yet it doesn't lack structure and its fine acidity gives it drive and persistence." Decanter

"Round and supple, exuding cherry, berry, licorice, eucalyptus and tar flavors. Harmonious and well-built, with a long aftertaste of menthol." Wine Spectator

"The 2014 Barbaresco Riserva Pora is a dark, sensual beauty. Deeply spiced and balsamic, with tremendous textural richness, the Pora is utterly beguiling. I can't remember a Pora with this much depth, textural resonance and brooding intensity. The 2014 needs at least a few years to be at its best, but it is superb even in the early going. I won't be surprised if the 2014 turns out to be better than this note suggests." Antonio Galloni

A well-structured, classic Barbaresco, which already gives us pleasure today and certainly for many years to come. Undoubtedly also its first-class price-performance ratio. SUPERIORE.DE

"Mid ruby and the most youthful looking of all the 2014 Riserva crus. Cool raspberry nose that is slow to open up. Intense yet not sweet raspberry palate that is fresh and concentrated and with a firm structure. Very complete, but needs time. A little vibrant and mouth-watering on the finish." Jancis Robinson

"Lean and taut, this reveals mint, menthol, licorice, orange peel and subtle cherry flavors, all underscored by assertive tannins and lively acidity. An austere style, this will need time to come around." Wine Spectator

"The 2014 Barbaresco Riserva Muncagota is another of the overachievers in this range. White pepper, bright red cherry, floral notes and mint cut through the fruit in this beautifully vivid, crystalline Barbaresco. There is a level of energy, drive and overall nuance in the 2014 I don't recall having seen in the past. The 2014 is a terrific Muncagota." Antonio Galloni

Montestefano Riserva 2014 confirms its shape of recent years. Powerful, profound and with potential for a felt eternity. SUPERIORE.DE

"Mid ruby and a shade brighter than the Montefico. Subtle peppery strawberry and raspberry but not really open yet. Compact and tightly built with lively succulent red fruit on a big foundation of formidable, majestic tannins. Long, precise and powerful yet contained." Jancis Robinson

"This is visibly the darkest in color and concentration of this series of wines from the well-known Produttori del Barbaresco cooperative. The 2014 Barbaresco Riserva Montestefano offers round and supple fruit with dark cherry, blackberry and some easy spice." Robert Parker

"This first-rate Barbaresco cooperative has released a superb set of Riservas, and this is among the very best. It's dense and solid on the nose, infused with cherry and raspberry fruit. Suave and full-bodied, it shows impressive weight and depth, with ripe tannins that contribute texture. The finish is spicy, displaying drive, finesse and length. Excellent balance and ageing potential." Decanter

"One of the many highlights in this range, the Barbaresco Riserva Montestefano is superb. A big enrobing wine, the Montestefano wraps around the palate with stunning depth. Today, the Montestefano is utterly embryonic, and yet it exudes depth, resonance and pure class. The Montestefano is one of the more complete wines in the range because of the way it deftly balances fruit intensity and structure. Readers will have to be patient, though." • Barbaresco Ovello Riserva DOCG 2014 <br>MAGNUM

Barbaresco Ovello Riserva DOCG 2014 · MAGNUM

The fine layer Barbaresco Ovello impresses with lively garnet red and a fragrant blend of red fruits, a hint of mint and sweet spices. Impressive in typicity and vintage expression with a great taste that flows softly and harmoniously into the long finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"Mid ruby with orange tinges. Ripe, cool raspberry with quite a bit of concentration underneath, but still quite closed. Concentrated raspberry and strawberry palate with a linear, precise vein of acidity running all the way through. It gets more perfumed by the second while sitting in the glass. Bags of powdery tannins lining the concentrated, fresh raspberry fruit." Jancis Robinson

Though the summer was cool and wet, the last rainfall in Barbaresco was on 12 August. Harvest started exactly two months later, allowing the grapes to ripen under much improved conditions. Quantities were down 30%, but quality was high enough for Produttori to craft their cru Riservas. Bottled 20 days prior to tasting, the 2014 is uncharacteristically forward with a veritable explosion of red cherry. Enchanting notes of rose petal, violet, blood orange peel and pepper follow. Bright acidity accentuates the tannins, but they are fine and dissolve effortlessly. While this comes across as approachable now, it might shut down in bottle and I'd give it some time following its release next spring. I suspect it will be a mid-term rather than a long ager." Decanter
"Balsamic aromas of menthol, wild thyme and juniper complement the black cherry core of this muscular red, with dense tannins lending support. Though a bit more severe now than its peers, this is balanced overall and will age well." Wine Spectator
"Always one of my favorite wines from Produttori del Barbaresco, the 2014 Barbaresco Riserva Ovello lays out a broad and soft mouthfeel, with tannins that have already been polished and integrated thanks to ample time in the bottle already. It's safe to say that this Ovello cru loyally demonstrates the level of richness and textural softness that this site is known for. The bouquet is redolent of bright berry fruit with cherry, blackberry and plum. So, the 2014 vintage was a warm one at the end of the growing season, and you taste a little bit of that ripeness here too." Robert Parker
"The 2014 Barbaresco Riserva Ovello is bright and piercing, as it so often is, and yet it also has more than enough fruit to fill out its mid-weight, energetic frame. Pine, mint, crushed rocks and sweet red plum build into the huge, piercing finish. The Ovello is another wine in this range that demands patience. Even in the early going it is super impressive. The 2014 s an unusually dense, packed Ovello. It should be terrific in another few years' time. " Antonio Galloni

Rio Sordo Riserva is particularly dense, rich and balanced. In the bouquet roses, spices and raspberries. On the palate very complex and of splendid depth. The floral notes to the final make this feminine Barbaresco Riserva irresistible even at a young age. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2014 Barbaresco Riserva Rio Sordo represents a jump forward in structure compared to the other three vineyards (Pora, Pajè and Ovello) that were tasted before this wine. The Riserva Rio Sordo shows a dark and solid personality, with a tight core of black fruit that will relax and unwind with more bottle aging in the cellar. It is also slightly sharper and more focused in terms of mouthfeel, with the kind of tannic tightness you always get with young Nebbiolo in the cooler vintages such as 2014. Barbaresco lovers should jot this one down." Robert Parker

On the palate, Pora Noblesse offers a certain noblesse and seriousness before it opens with bite and juiciness and ends velvety wide. SUPERIORE.DE

      1 bottle (0,75l) | Barbaresco Ovello Riserva DOCG 2014

The fine layer Barbaresco Ovello impresses with lively garnet red and a fragrant blend of red fruits, a hint of mint and sweet spices. Impressive in typicity and vintage expression with a great taste that flows softly and harmoniously into the long finish. SUPERIORE.DE

Also, the 2014 vintage was a warm one at the end of the growing season, and you taste a little bit of that ripeness here too." Robert Parker

      1 bottle (0,75l) | Barbaresco Rabajà Riserva DOCG 2014

Rabaja is an elegant and great wine. A well-drained fruity kernel with hints of roses, menthol, minerals and tar. Rabaja offers the whole range: beautiful fruit, defined body, excellent length, fine tannic acid and wonderful balsamic notes. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2014 Barbaresco Riserva Rabajà shows excellent textural richness with dark fruit, followed by notes of tobacco and tilled earth. Black truffle and dried fruit converge on the bouquet to add to the intensity. You really appreciate the freshness and sheer power of this succulent, well-structured and medium to full-bodied Barbaresco. This one's the real deal." Robert Parker

      1 bottle (0,75l) | Barbaresco Montestefano Riserva DOCG 2014

Montestefano Riserva 2014 confirms its shape of recent years. Powerful, profound and with potential for a felt eternity. SUPERIORE.DE

Readers will have to be patient, though." Vinous

      1 bottle (0,75l) | Barbaresco Pajé Riserva DOCG 2014

This cru from the Pajé site in the heart of the Barbaresco region offers a mineral scent and fruity taste. The bouquet exudes notes of sour cherries, tobacco and toasted country bread, on the nose incredibly deep and elegant, in addition a splendid, ripe fruit in perfect play with the tannins. Already a classic today! SUPERIORE.DE

"Beams of minerality and salinity cut through a core of dense, dark fruit in the 2014 Barbaresco Riserva Pajè. Deeply pitched and tannic, the 2014 is a super-classic, youthfully austere Barbaresco that is going to need time to be at its best. Readers should expect a firm, structured Barbaresco. The finish alone is striking. Crushed rocks, minerals, sage and lavender add nuance to this chiseled, finely sculpted Barbaresco. Readers who can find it should not hesitate." Vinous

      1 bottle (0,75l) | Barbaresco Asili Riserva DOCG 2014

Here there is a successful separation of powers between extract, tannin and alcohol. The spicy fruit aroma with seductive notes of leather and tobacco and the power and elegance of taste guarantee a magnificent sweetness and high enjoyment. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2014 Barbaresco Riserva Asili is somber and dense in this vintage. Silky Asili tannins bring out the wine's voluptuousness and soft contours. Dark red cherry and plum fruit show some of the typical Asili sensuality, but the 2014 is a powerhouse that is going to need time to come around. In 2014, Asili is unusually – almost uncharacteristically – austere." Vinous

      1 bottle (0,75l) | Barbaresco Montefico Riserva DOCG 2014

Barbaresco Riserva Montefico has energy and sheer strength with a certain severity that will ease over the next few years. Dark red fruits, leather, aniseed and other spices are among its diverse aromas. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2014 Barbaresco Riserva Montefico is another of the more inward, reticent wines in the range. A core of huge dark fruit virtually covers the beams of incisive tannin that are such a signature of this Barbaresco site. Dark red plum, chalk, cured meats, plum, iron, smoke, leather and licorice confer attractive elements of savoriness to this potent, structured Barbaresco." Vinous

    Prod. del Barbaresco

Today it is not only one of the best cooperative wineries in Europe, but also offers its wines at very customer-friendly prices: The Produttori del Barbaresco cooperative, newly created in 1958 by the local priest Don Fiorino Marengo and now managed with a steady hand by Aldo Vacca and Gianni Testa.

Originally, the Cantina Sociale was founded by Domizio Cavazza in 1894 and brought the first wines on the market, which were officially called Barbaresco. From 1913, the year of Cavazza's death, economically difficult times followed. The First World War, a new outbreak of the phylloxera plague, a strong infestation of the vines with downy mildew and the fascist rule, which encouraged winegrowers to cultivate cereals instead of wine, led to the closure of the winery in the mid-twenties. Today, more than fifty affiliated winegrowers cultivate almost one-sixth of the total area under cultivation in the Barbaresco region.

The winegrowing families manage their 200 to 400 metre high plots autonomously, but follow strict guidelines of the Board of Directors regarding soil and vine care. Since the plants grow in nine of the best locations in the denomination, the wine guide Gambero Rossodescribes the cooperative's range of wines, consisting of almost a dozen precious drops and supplemented by the Riserva line in good wine-growing years, as one of the best in the world. "Educational trail leading to the true nature of the Langa".

From the very beginning, the declared aim of the Piedmontese was to produce high-quality wines and to limit themselves to the Nebbiolo grape variety. To this day, only Barbaresco and Nebbiolo base wines are produced in the traditional style. The grapes for Barbaresco come from the premium vineyards of Asili, Rabajà, Pora, Montestefano, Ovello, Pajé, Montefico, Muncagota and Rio Sordo. Since 1967, some of the cooperative's top-quality wines have been marketed as Auslesen - always under the vineyard name and as Riserva. The classic preparation with extended maceration periods and large barrels form the basis for extremely long-lived drops that clearly distance themselves from fashion trends.

The cooperative Cantina Sociale dei Produttori del Barbaresco was the first producer in the region to produce wines from cru sites, with the wineries of Angelo Gaja and Bruno Giacosa, which are still important today. This approach was a first step in the direction of today's official location cartography of the fascinating denomination. In good years the cooperative produces Barbaresco from about half of the harvested grapes. About 30 percent of the wines are labelled as Barbaresco individual sites (Riserva) and about 20 percent as Nebbiolo Langhe. SUPERIORE.DE

"One of the world's leading cooperatives that has been producing great wines for five decades."Robert Parker

"The wines of the Barbaresco cooperative have always been a faithful reflection of the region, the soil and the artisan tradition. They are enchanting with their varied fruity notes, their rich aromas; they are surprisingly long-lasting and still inexpensive." Horst Dohm (Message in a bottle from Piedmont)
