Nebbiolo Langhe DOC 2022
This Nebbiolo from the Langhe comes from all over the region and from a combination of different soil types. It is fermented in concrete to preserve freshness before maturing in large oak barrels for five months. On the nose, it has ripe, vanilla-scented hedgerow fruits with a fresh, crisp aroma of sweet cherries. On the palate, it shows impressive intensity and plenty of playful acidity. The dark fruit flavours are carried by a smooth texture and the spice nuances are fragrant and exotic. An excellent wine for early enjoyment and of great quality. SUPERIORE.DE

Barbaresco DOCG 2020
The grapes for the Barbaresco come mainly from the top vineyards Pora, Ovello, Montestefano, Muncagota and Rio Sordo. Deep, lively ruby to garnet red. Extensive bouquet of red fruits and pastries with a mineral touch. On the palate, it convinces with a rich, solid structure as well as a continuous development, which ends in a long-smelling final. The leading winegrowers' cooperative in Italy shows every year already with its basic Barbaresco what it and its members are capable of. SUPERIORE.DE
"Youthful mid ruby. A proper, concentrated fruit nose, which this vintage is woefully short of. Subtle marasca cherry palate with lots of finely ground tannins; head and shoulders above the rest." Jancis Robinson
"This is aromatic and attractive with notes of dried cherries, hibiscus, cocoa and bark, following through a medium body with polished and refined tannins with velvety texture, and a linear finish. Fresh and floral at the end with a bright red fruit backbone." James Suckling
"The 2020 Barbaresco is a lovely, harmonious wine that will drink well with minimal cellaring. Forward fruit and soft curves are perhaps a bit uncharacteristic for young Barbaresco but that also make the wine very enjoyable. Juicy red cherry/plum fruit, rose petal, spice, cedar, mint and tobacco all meld together in the glass. Classicists will probably prefer other vintages, but it's hard not to like the 2020 for its charming, effusive personality. At the same time, aeration brings out greater aromatic presence and a good deal of structure, too." Vinous
"Still vinous, with youthful strawberry notes, rosebud, violet, liquorice and a whiff of cinnamon. Savoury and floral on the palate which is dominated by firm, crisp, long acidity and velvety ripe tannins of an amazing quality; perhaps just a bit stern on the aftertaste. Amazing Barbaresco. Here we have the cooperative of Barbaresco and one known as producing some of the best-priced quality wines in all of Langhe." Decanter
"The 2020 Barbaresco boasts an ample set of aromas with wild cherry, blue flower, sweet spice and crushed limestone. As always, the wine paints an exciting and authentic portrait of Nebbiolo, albeit with a little more richness and texture in this vintage. This is especially true in terms of the palate, where the wine offers mid-weight intensity with melting tannins." Wine Advocate

Barbaresco Rio Sordo Riserva DOCG 2017
Rio Sordo Riserva is particularly dense, rich and balanced. On the nose we find roses, spices and raspberries. On the palate, it is very complex and has a wonderful depth and juiciness. Rio Sordo offers a taut and sharp fruit on the surface, which is rounded off with some tannin and crispness on the finish. The floral notes that develop with good aeration or further bottle ageing into the final make this Barbaresco Riserva irresistible even when young. SUPERIORE.DE
"Maturing ruby with orange rim. A little dusty and brooding with hints of damson and cinnamon. Supple, tangy and full on the palate with plenty of chewy tannins. Very long and intense and accessible, but can age too." Jancis Robinson
"The 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Rio Sordo shows the natural intensity of the year, and yet retains a good bit of the aromatic lift that is so typical of Nebbiolo at its best. Silky, perfumed and poised, the Rio Sordo is impressive in this tasting. Spice and floral notes lift a core of red-toned fruit in this mid-weight yet packed Barbaresco from the Produttori. This has very fine potential." Vinous
"Delivers depth and velvety texture, which are a perfect foil for the saturated cherry and raspberry fruit flavors. Underlined by mineral and spice notes, this is harmonious and long, with a mineral aftertaste. Feels approachable now, but this has structure and will age beautifully." Wine Spectator
"The 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Rio Sordo has a mineral character and a sleek, firm approach that gives this wine its special identity. The wine is polished, almost glossy in texture with blackcurrant, plum and wild rose, and the tannins are gripping, although the Rio Sordo sports a lean to medium-rich density overall." Wine Advocate

Limitation of 3 articles per customerBarbaresco Muncagota Riserva DOCG 2017
Muncagota is rich, deep and super-expressive every year, hitting all the right notes. Black cherry, plum, spices, leather and liquorice all come out, but all very hesitantly and with a lot of aeration, better: with further bottle ageing. Muncagota is one of the examples from the famous series of nine Riserve that clearly needs time. And time should be given to it, and the patient will be richly rewarded. SUPERIORE.DE
"Lustrous deep ruby. Brooding and a little rich with sweet cinnamon hints but still a little closed on the nose. Sour cherry and damson on the palate with a layer of fine, sandy tannins and succulent acidity. Can be approached now, the damson hints seems to suggest this won't age forever, so it will be at its peak in four to five years' time." Jancis Robinson
"The 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Muncagota is one of the lighter wines in this range. Floral and medium in body, the 2017 gives the impression of a wine that will open earlier than some of the others. It, too, has pretty imposing tannins though, so a few years in bottle are advisable. Crushed flowers, sweet red cherry, mint and white pepper linger." Vinous
"The 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Muncagota plays some of its best cards in terms of texture, offering silky tannins, firmness and a long-lasting veil of fruit flavors. Cassis, wild cherry, camphor ash, spice and iron ore are aromatic protagonists. This wine is lean and compact but very linear and focused." Wine Advocate
"Presents a bright, pure expression of cherry, strawberry, rose and grassy aromas and flavors underscored by a vein of minerality, with tannins that flex their muscles on the long finish. Intense but balanced, with tension that bodes well for future evolution." Wine Spectator

Limitation of 3 articles per customerBarbaresco Montestefano Riserva DOCG 2017
Montestefano Riserva is exquisite and harmonious from start to finish. Among the nine great Riserves of the Produttori, it is the one that best hides its tannin, as the fruit is intensely fragrant, rich and seductive. For us, it is a synthesis of Montefico, Ovello and Rabajà. Today Montestefano gives the feeling of being relatively accessible, but it will almost certainly go through a few more closing phases before it fully opens up. On the nose, we are surprised by an almost endless complexity and depth. Its silky, polished tannins give an impression of sensual elegance. Crushed meadow flowers, mint, liquorice and dark red cherries are just some of the notes that envelop the deep, long finish. Fabulous! SUPERIORE.DE
"Lustrous ruby with orange tinges. A little dusty at first and a little brooding with deep ripe cherry fruit and hints of dried cherry and damson. Very slow to open up. Succulent and focused cherry fruit palate filled out with bags of fine, gravelly tannins. Majestic structure and plenty of juice on the finish, while it can be approached now." Jancis Robinson
"Dense and rich, if on the austere side now, courtesy of burly tannins, with black cherry, plum, tar and mineral serving as the main flavor themes. Reveals terrific energy and length, with a chalky feel on the finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Montestefano is a potent, savory wine. Today, the fruit is very much in the background. A brooding, backward Barbaresco, the Montestefano clearly needs time, it is a somber, imposing Barbaresco. Dark plum, earthiness, cloves, menthol and licorice infuse the finish with notable gravitas. There's plenty of Montestefano breadth and resonance." Vinous
"The 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Montestefano is darkly concentrated and among the richest wines in this series of single-vineyard Riservas. Montestefano is angular, textured and bold with dark fruit aromas, dried blackberry, toasted almond and cured tobacco. With this vintage, you get an age-worthy wine that offers brawn and power for drinking in the medium term, but it will become increasingly silky and slender with time. Dusty tannins and crushed stone appear on the long finish." Wine Advocate

Limitation of 3 articles per customerBarbaresco Pajè Riserva DOCG 2017
Pajé is a small vineyard near the village of Barbaresco, whose calcareous soils usually produce bright and floral wines, and this wine impressively fulfils that expectation, combined with an already remarkable density that it is only beginning to reveal. On the nose, it shows intensity and purity, with penetrating aromas of red fruits. On the attack, it is supple, luminous but weighty and very focused. The lively acidity adds tension and persistence to the finish. Already enticing, but with the unclouded prospect of further positive surprises! SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich cherry fruit with hints of mint and savoury salty hints. Great depth. Compact succulent red fruit that is much more embryonic than the nose has it. Fantastic length but truly slow, while at the same time you could approach it now." Jancis Robinson
"Leads with a whiff of freshly mown hay, which leads to cherry, currant, tar and eucalyptus flavors. Linear and chewy, with hints of underbrush and iron on the lingering finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Pajè is a fine choice for readers who enjoy wines of freshness, verve and energy. Dark fruit, menthol, spice, pine and crushed rocks are beautifully delineated. This is an especially chiseled wine in the range of 2017 Riservas. I very much like the balance of richness and vibrancy. In a word: classic." Vinous
"The 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Pajè is impressive on all fronts, but especially in terms of aromas. There's so much brightness here with red and purple fruits, rust and a dark note of clove or exotic spice. No element is out of place, but together they help to build the intensity of this balanced wine. It shows a soft, velvety texture, and perhaps there is a little more ripeness overall in this warm vintage." Wine Advocate

The site Barbaresco Riserva Ovello is, as always, one of the outstanding wines of this series. It shows the energy and tension so typical of this site, but with a slightly riper profile than is the norm. Ovello dives straight into the volatile Nebbiolo aromas, focusing on liquorice, tar, blue flowers and campfire ash. The palate is full-bodied, with flavours of crushed raspberries, juicy Marasca cherries, liquorice and nutmeg, and firm, tight-knit tannins. The fresh acidity adds tension and balance. Looking at the timeline of Riserva wines, this wine reaches the magical threshold where Nebbiolo begins to unfold its unique aromatic appeal and mystique ... SUPERIORE.DE
"Open-hearted and with a beautiful play of fruit, cherry, red berries; animating drinking flow with an earthy and delicately balsamic note, plus good inner density and sturdy tannin, radiates the warmth of the year and is round to the end." Weinwisser
"Quite a tight nose but with plenty of minerals and, with aeration, a lift of ripe sour cherry. Juicy cherry on the palate with bags of chewy tannins underneath the fruit. Very long, juicy and animating. Has potential." Jancis Robinson
"A tight and pretty Barbaresco with a solid depth of fruit that shows ripe strawberry and terracotta character. Tannins spread across the palate in a chunky way like thick velvet. Juicy and thick at the end." James Suckling
"The 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Ovello is a heady, explosive wine. I don't think I have ever tasted an Ovello from the Produttori with this much heft. The strong mineral and saline accents typical of this site are present, but they are matched pound for pound by notable mid-palate richness and intensity in its fruit. The 2017 is a brooding powerhouse that needs time to unwind." Vinous
"Taut and sinewy, boasting cherry, black currant, grass, iron and tar notes. Powerful tannins drive the finish, which is compact for now. In the end, this is lightly astringent, but has plenty of drive and should find equilibrium with time." Wine Spectator
"One of the bigger production in the Produttori del Barbaresco's portfolio is the 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Ovello. All of the Riservas in this vintage are characterized by especially exuberant and bold aromas, and this bottle is a prime example. Cassis, wild cherry, tobacco, rusty nail and licorice build intensity. The wine is tapered and silky in texture, but it also offers a good amount of power to carry it through the aging process." The Barbaresco Montefico 2017 is a jewel of a wine. Freshly cut flowers, minerals, crushed rocks, rose petals and lavender are all finely cut. As always, the Montefico is taut and angular in style. Its sense of transparency is simply beguiling. Sage, mint and sweet pipe tobacco are some of the nuances that linger. Montefico is a Barbaresco for lovers of tighter red wines, whom it will delight. It combines the fruitiness of the Montestefano with the verve of the Ovello. SUPERIORE.DE
"Concentrated mid ruby with bricky rim. Ripe, sweet cherry fruit with lift and savoury spicy damson hints. Full succulent cherry fruit that is still compact and with rich chewy tannins. Long and multilayered. This has a future, but I would happily drink this now." Jancis Robinson
"Marked by plum and menthol, this also has elements of iron, tar and tobacco. Muscular and brooding, with a strong grip of tannins on the finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2017 Barbaresco Montefico is one of the stand-outs in this range. It shows the piercing tannins typical of this site, and yet has more than enough fruit to balance those tannins, certainly moreso than wines like the Rabajà. This exposed site benefits from cooling winds from the north, clearly a benefit in 2017. Even in the early going, the balance here is terrific. In 2017, the Montefico is one of the clear stand outs in the range." Vinous
"The Produttori del Barbaresco 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Montefico is especially broad and thick in texture. It feels generous to the senses, wrapping thickly over the palate with a pretty mix of firm tannins and soft fruit fiber. These elements help to increase both the volume and the persistence of this classic wine. There is some dryness on the finish and you also taste crushed mineral and stone." Wine Advocate

Wine Spectator: 95 points1 bottle à 0,75l | Barbaresco Pora Riserva DOCG 2017
"The 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Pora is usually the first wine I taste each year when I review this series of Riservas from Produttori del Barbaresco. This is because it is usually the most delicate and the intensity of each subsequent bottle increases after this wine. But these schemes are a little harder to align in a hot and dry vintage like this, which consistently produced richer and juicier fruit. The Pora smells of red and purple fruits with slightly more blackberries and plums compared to previous editions. The tannin strength of the wine is also more pronounced. Pora is working very well in 2017." Wine Advocate
"The 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Pora is rich, creamy and layered, with a little more generosity than is usually the case. Sweet red cherry, red plum, spice and rose petal are amplified in a bright, open-knit Barbaresco that will drink well in a few years." Vinous

"The Barbaresco Riserva Ovello 2017 is an intoxicating, explosive wine. I don't think I have ever tasted an Ovello from the Produttori with so much power. The strong mineral and saline accents typical of this site are present, but they are outweighed pound for pound by a remarkable richness and intensity of fruit in the mid-palate. The 2017 is a brooding powerhouse that needs time to unwind." Vinous

"The Produttori del Barbaresco 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Rabajà is another spectacular release from this cooperative winery, which hits the bull's eye with each new release. This impressive track record includes this wine, which is characterised by extreme concentration, depth and integrity. The bouquet is very clear, with dark cherry, tart plum, spice and blood orange, but it is also complex and fluid. With each swirl of the glass, it opens up new perspectives. The Rabajà from a hot vintage is soft, powerful and balanced. I would bet on a long ageing of this bottle." Wine Advocate
"Lots of white truffle, ripe strawberry and shellstone character. Full-bodied with a focused and on-point palate with flavours that resemble aromas. The tannins are polished and beautiful. A very elegant and refined Rabaja. To be drunk from 2025." James Suckling

James Suckling: 97 points1 bottle à 0,75l | Barbaresco Montestefano Riserva DOCG 2017
"The 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Montestefano is darkly concentrated and among the richest wines in this series of single-vineyard Riservas. Montestefano is angular, structured and powerful with aromas of dark fruits, dried blackberries, toasted almonds and smoked tobacco. With this vintage, you get an age-worthy wine that offers power and strength over the medium term, but becomes silkier and leaner with time. Dusty tannins and gravel show on the long finish." Wine Advocate
"The Barbaresco Riserva Montestefano 2017 is a powerful, tasty wine. Today the fruit is very much in the background. The Montestefano is a brooding, backward Barbaresco that clearly needs time, it is a sombre, imposing Barbaresco. Dark plum, earthiness, clove, menthol and liquorice lend remarkable gravitas to the finish. The Montestefano has a lot of breadth and resonance." Vinous

"The 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Pajè is impressive in every way, but especially in terms of aromas. There is so much brightness here with red and purple fruits, rust and a dark note of cloves or exotic spices. No element is out of place, but all together help build the intensity of this balanced wine. It shows a soft, velvety texture, and perhaps there is a little more ripeness overall in this warm vintage." Wine Advocate
"The 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Pajè is a good choice for harvestwho like wines with freshness, drive and energy. Dark fruits, menthol, spices, pine and crushed rock are beautifully brought out. This is a particularly edgy wine in the 2017 Riserva range, and I really like the balance of richness and vibrancy. In a word, classic." Vinous

Vinous: 94 points1 bottle à 0,75l | Barbaresco Asili Riserva DOCG 2017
"The Produttori del Barbaresco 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Asili features a very straightforward and direct approach with wild rose, cassis and lots of minerality or gravel. On the palate, the wine is taut and fresh, with a medium-bodied texture and lots of depth and persistence. I love those bright nuances reminiscent of rose petals on the finish of this wine, and the tannins are firm and silky. This bottle has a unique identity in this group of Riserva wines." Wine Advocate
"A clear and transparent Asili with aromas of flowers, sage, gravel, mushrooms and berries leading to a full body with round tannins that are a little aggressive but in a good way. Crisp and fresh on the finish. Undertones of citrus. Piquant." James Suckling

James Suckling: 96 points1 bottle à 0,75l | Barbaresco Montefico Riserva DOCG 2017
"The Produttori del Barbaresco 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Montefico is particularly broad and dense in texture. It feels generous to the senses and coats the palate with a beautiful blend of firm tannins and soft fruit fibres. These elements help to add both volume and persistence to this classic wine. It's a little dry on the finish and you can also taste minerals and stones." Wine Advocate
"The 2017 Barbaresco Montefico is one of the outstanding wines in this range. It shows the penetrating tannins typical of this site and yet has more than enough fruit to balance those tannins, certainly more than wines like Rabajà. This exposed site benefits from cooling winds from the north, which was clearly an advantage in 2017. Even in the early stages, the balance here is great. In 2017, Montefico is one of the standout wines in the range." Vinous

Today it is not only one of the best cooperative wineries in Europe, but also offers its wines at very customer-friendly prices: The Produttori del Barbaresco cooperative, newly created in 1958 by the local priest Don Fiorino Marengo and now managed with a steady hand by Aldo Vacca and Gianni Testa.
Originally, the Cantina Sociale was founded by Domizio Cavazza in 1894 and brought the first wines on the market, which were officially called Barbaresco. From 1913, the year of Cavazza's death, economically difficult times followed. The First World War, a new outbreak of the phylloxera plague, a strong infestation of the vines with downy mildew and the fascist rule, which encouraged winegrowers to cultivate cereals instead of wine, led to the closure of the winery in the mid-twenties. Today, more than fifty affiliated winegrowers cultivate almost one-sixth of the total area under cultivation in the Barbaresco region.
The winegrowing families manage their 200 to 400 metre high plots autonomously, but follow strict guidelines of the Board of Directors regarding soil and vine care. Since the plants grow in nine of the best locations in the denomination, the wine guide Gambero Rossodescribes the cooperative's range of wines, consisting of almost a dozen precious drops and supplemented by the Riserva line in good wine-growing years, as one of the best in the world. "Educational trail leading to the true nature of the Langa".
From the very beginning, the declared aim of the Piedmontese was to produce high-quality wines and to limit themselves to the Nebbiolo grape variety. To this day, only Barbaresco and Nebbiolo base wines are produced in the traditional style. The grapes for Barbaresco come from the premium vineyards of Asili, Rabajà, Pora, Montestefano, Ovello, Pajé, Montefico, Muncagota and Rio Sordo. Since 1967, some of the cooperative's top-quality wines have been marketed as Auslesen - always under the vineyard name and as Riserva. The classic preparation with extended maceration periods and large barrels form the basis for extremely long-lived drops that clearly distance themselves from fashion trends.
The cooperative Cantina Sociale dei Produttori del Barbaresco was the first producer in the region to produce wines from cru sites, with the wineries of Angelo Gaja and Bruno Giacosa, which are still important today. This approach was a first step in the direction of today's official location cartography of the fascinating denomination. In good years the cooperative produces Barbaresco from about half of the harvested grapes. About 30 percent of the wines are labelled as Barbaresco individual sites (Riserva) and about 20 percent as Nebbiolo Langhe. SUPERIORE.DE
"One of the world's leading cooperatives that has been producing great wines for five decades."Robert Parker
"The wines of the Barbaresco cooperative have always been a faithful reflection of the region, the soil and the artisan tradition. They are enchanting with their varied fruity notes, their rich aromas; they are surprisingly long-lasting and still inexpensive." Horst Dohm (Message in a bottle from Piedmont)
