• "Riff" Pinot Grigio delle Venezie DOC 2018 (BIO)

“Riff” Pinot Grigio delle Venezie DOC 2018 (BIO)

From the 2018 vintage, the popular RIFF Pinot Grigio delle Venezie is not only certified organic, but has also been given a new appearance by the Austrian artist Nanna Prieler. With a total of five different motifs in the segments of stylized ammonites the origin of the mountain landscape is told, on which today the vines stand for the Pinot Gris RIFF: From the ocean with its coral reefs to the unique terroir in which many fossils of former ocean inhabitants can still be discovered today.

Bright bright yellow with greenish shimmer. The aroma is fine fruity, floral-mineral with delicate notes of southern fruits. The taste of RIFF Pinot Gris is precise, lively and fresh, with a medium body and a harmonious finish. A perfect companion for light Mediterranean dishes or simply solo on the balcony or terrace. • Chardonnay Alto Adige DOC 2018

      Chardonnay Alto Adige DOC 2018

The new label, introduced in 2018, stands for the holistic approach of the winery.

Brilliant straw yellow colour, fine fruity aroma typical of the variety with the scent of tropical fruits. Balanced, medium-bodied taste, invigorated by a fresh acidity. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2018 Alto Adige Chardonnay is a steady and mildly perfumed wine that gives you a genuine and naked expression of the grape. The wine is simple and linear with creamy lemon, quince and pear. The finish is lean and crisp, but there is enough volume here for a pairing with Thai shrimp in coconut milk. The wine ages on the fine lees in stainless steel vats for four months. This wine offers terrific value." Robert Parker

    • Lagrein Rosé Alto Adige DOC 2018

Lagrein Rosé Alto Adige DOC 2018

The new label introduced with the 2018 vintage stands for the social identity of the winery.

Deep rosé colour and intense fruity fragrance. Full, firm body, round and pleasant taste, with invigorating acidity and a delicate bitter note in the finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"The dark color is at once a little suspect here, but this actually shows a good amount of freshness with grapey aromas of spices, dried peaches and red apples. Full-bodied and quite tannic on the palate for a rosé. Touch of bitterness on the finish. Lagrein meets rosé and delivers a light red (or fuller rosé)." James Suckling

    About the winemakers
    Alois Lageder
    Trentino-South Tyrol
    Alois Lageder

Fresh wind in what is probably the most famous winery in South Tyrol. Since 2015, Alois Lageder has gradually handed over his agenda to his son Alois Clemens Lageder. The two daughters Helena and Anna are now also working for the company as brand ambassadors and for numerous events such as the legendary "Summa". Georg Meißner, a graduate oenologist, has also taken over the well-rehearsed winemaking team from Alois' brother-in-law, the long-term oenologist Luis v. Dellemann, who retired after 45 harvests. Nothing will change in terms of quality, as no biodynamic winery is more successful anywhere in the world.

The approximately 50 hectares of family-owned vineyards have been cultivated according to the strict Demeter guidelines since 1990. The approximately ninety contract winegrowers, who together with the Lageder team are responsible for a further 110 ha of near-natural vineyards, are to be converted to even more sustainable cultivation in the coming years. And anyone who knows Alois Lageder knows he won't be bored.

Its historical roots go back six generations to Johann Lageder, who laid the foundation stone for today's company in Bolzano in 1823. His successors began to press wine themselves and bought the first vineyards. The most successful was Alois III, who in 1934 acquired the Löwengang residence in Magreid, the southernmost tip of the South Tyrolean Wine Route, and motivated numerous winegrowers to supply him with the grapes. In the mid-1970s Alois Lageder, his sister and his brother-in-law Luis v. Dellemann took over the winery and led it to success with his strict quality thinking. He always relied on cooperation with winegrowers he had befriended.

In 1995, the new cellar was built according to the most modern building biology methods and with renewable energy from water, geothermal energy and solar power and became a showcase model. The collaboration with artists turned inspiration and the winery into an event location.

The assortment is as varied as the locations in the Adige Valley, which was once a huge glacier, which dug its way south from the Alps and Dolomites and brought all kinds of rock with it. From volcanic porphyry to granite and quartz, petrified corals of an ancient sea to gravel, clay and clay, everything is here. "If you plant the right grape varieties in the right locations, not much can go wrong." Alois Lageder said with a smile. Cold wind from the mountains changes with warm breezes from the south, the aeration and the temperature differences are ideal. Warm days, cool nights and moderate rainfall are the secret of success in South Tyrol. Here in the southernmost part of course even more so. And even though Lageder's portfolio comprises around 80% white wines, two red wines, the Chardonnay "Löwengang" and two red wines, are responsible for the degree of recognition worldwide. The Cabernet Sauvignon "Cor Römigberg" and the Pinot Nero (Pinot Noir) "Krafuss" have meanwhile become cult wines and part of South Tyrol's success story, even part of Italy's wine story.

The fact that in the showcase cellar the most modern possibilities and containers enable the perfect vinification for every single vineyard need not be mentioned separately. The numerous awards worldwide are proof of this, as in the "Guida ai Vini Bio", where Lageder was honoured as Winery of the Year 2013. SUPERIORE.DE

"Alois Lageder is one of the great personalities of the South Tyrolean wine world. He is constantly looking for quality in full respect of the natural characteristics of the area."Gambero Rosso
