Alois Lageder

The name "Mimuèt" (to my taste) comes from Ladin. Convinced that South Tyrol offers the best conditions for the Pinot Noir grape variety, Alois Lageder paid particular attention to it at a very early stage. His goal is to produce wines with precision, lightness and filigree structure. Garnet red with ruby reflexes. Pinot Noir Mimuèt smells of ripe black cherries, flowers and spices. The Vernatsch variety is part of South Tyrol's culture and an important component of the country's red wine varieties. The grape variety is often hastily dismissed as too simple and often gets little time in the cellar. This Vernatsch has had time to develop. NATSCH4 is a vintage blend of the four vintages 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. The grapes of the wines come from the oldest parcel of the famous Vernatsch site RÖMIGBERG. The four wines are vinified on the skins and whole clusters for different lengths of time. SUPERIORE.DE

Casòn Rosso is a Rosso made from the rare French Tannat grape, a small edition that rounds off the range of Lageder wines, which, although experimental, can rightly be described as unique at a very high level. Intense, fruity bouquet of plums and blackberries, with hints of leather, smoke and green tea. Medium-bodied on the palate, with an overwhelming juiciness and freshness, sublime tannins and delicately bitter notes on the finish. At the southern foot of the Margreider Schuttkegel, a vineyard with the dialect name "Punggl" spreads out, which has been known and sought after for winegrowing since time immemorial. In the mid-1950s, the former owners of Ansitz Hirschprunn had planted a vineyard there with Merlot, as it had already produced very good results in the decades before. In 1995, the grapes from this vineyard proved to be of such first-class quality that they inspired Luis von Dellemann, the Oenologistin charge at the time, to vinify these grapes as a single-vineyard wine – this strictly selected grape material has formed the basis for the MCM since then and only in the best years.

Tannat thrives excellently under warm temperatures and retains a lively acidity. Already planted 30 years ago by Alois Lageder, it is still a puzzle, experiment and challenge at the same time for the winery. In order to emphasise the special origin of the grapes, the wine will be offered as the "Löwengang Historischer gemischter Satz" from the 2018 vintage onwards.
