“Quadrio” Valtellina Superiore DOCG 2018
Ethereal and fine bouquet with hints of wilted violets and spices, delicate nuances of strawberries and almond blossom. Deep, warm and rich on the palate, the tannins wonderfully harmonious, an elegant, very pleasant bitter note on the long final. SUPERIORE.DE
"Negri's 2018 Valtellina Superiore Quadrio is a soft, easygoing wine to drink now and over the next few years. Crushed red berry fruit, flowers, mint, sage and a kick of orange peel all grace this open-knit Valtellina Superiore." Vinous

Valtellina Superiore Inferno DOCG 2018
The grapes for Inferno come from the Calvario, Sopragironi, Sottogironi and Ca Rossa subzones. They grow there in southern exposure on terraced slopes on poor, sandy soils. Rich, bright carmine red. Interesting aroma spectrum of spices, wild berries, liquorice and mint. Very harmonious on the palate, the tannin very well integrated and the Nebbiolo fruit and acid component present until the respectable finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2018 Valtellina Superiore Inferno is made in an earthy, savory style, with tons of aromatic nuance, with the fruit pushed into the background." Vinous

“Mazér” Nebbiolo Valtellina Superiore DOCG 2018
This Nebbiolo comes from the vineyards of the Inferno (hell). The mountains owe their name to the steep slopes and the scorching summer temperatures that prevail there. Pure bouquet of red fruits, underlined by a hint of tobacco, hints of mineral notes on the palate, plus fine tannins, perfectly integrated into an appealing acidity framework. A very authentic, classic and straightforward wine. SUPERIORE.DE

“Sassella Le Tense” Valtellina Superiore DOCG 2019
Sassella Le Tense is a silky and polished wine with wild berries, blueberries, bitter almond, crushed rock, ash and mild spice. It has all those ethereal and finely balanced flavours of a Nebbiolo-based Valtellina wine, but they are presented in a slightly more direct and approachable way. The firm tannins are enveloped by a beautiful fruit, and the medium-long finish ends harmoniously. A beautiful wine from the far north of Lombardy. SUPERIORE.DE

“Cinque Stelle” Valtellina Sfursat DOCG 2018
Outstanding terroir, terrific quality of the grapes and masterful cellar work made it one of the most highly prized wines! Bewitching aromas of candied cherry fruit with notes of spices and tobacco. On the palate dense, very concentrated with fabulous fruit sweetness, discreet acid structure and fresh tannins. A hedonistic and at the same time very contemporary dream of finesse and elegance that lingers with long and incredibly deep flavours. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2018 Sfursat 5 Stelle is compelling. Macerated dark cherry, leather, herbs and baking spices are nicely pushed forward. Impeccable in its balance and overall harmony, the 2018 looks to offer fine drinking over the near and medium term. It is another terrific wine from Negri that points to a bright future." Vinous

"The 2017 Sfursat 5 Stelle is superb. Like the best wines in this range it marries textural richness and finesse, while remaining light on its feet. A rush of crushed red berry fruit, dried cherry, blood orange, mint, spice and pomegranate fills out the layers effortlessly. The 2017 is deep, structure and compelling. It's a gorgeous wine from Negri." Vinous

In the Italian wine industry, the historic Nino Negri winery is a reference point for the whole of Valtellina. After the eponym had founded the company in 1897, the development of viticulture and oenology of Valtellina, whose wines the famous universal scholar Leonardo da Vinci already raved about, began. Nino's son Carluccio, however, gave the trend-setting impulse for the great success of the winery, which was established around 120 years ago, when he consistently renewed it, gradually renovated the vineyards and improved the cellar technology. Carluccio Negri also succeeded in conquering distant markets such as America and Australia. The modern and well-organised wine producer from the municipality of Chiuro in the province of Sondrio north of Lake Como succeeds in combining modernity with tradition in an exceptionally good way. Nino Negri has become a synonym for Veltliner top wines because of its very high reliability. Since 1986, the estate has been owned by Gruppo Italiano Vini and is a jewel in the large estate of the largest producer of quality wines in Italy.
Under the expert supervision of the sensitive and very competent oenologist and wine director Casimiro Maule, a top technical team transforms the grape variety Chiavennasca - as Nebbiolo is called here - into excellent, multi-faceted noble wines with a particularly full aroma, whose quality is admired all over the world. A speciality of Nino Negri is the Sfursat di Valtellina. By the way, Maule was named Oenologist of the Year 2007 by the wine guideGambero Rosso. The winemaker had already understood very early how to masterfully exploit the enormous potential of this red grape variety in the old vaults of the renovated Palazzo Quadrio, dating from the 15th century.
Casimiro Maule is constantly surprised by the opportunities offered by the Lombard soil. The company's own vineyards in the best locations, some of which are very steep and have terraces up to 120 centimetres wide with ancient dry-stone walls, are managed in an environmentally friendly manner. The Fracia vineyard was planted exclusively with Nebbiolo as early as 1922. The Grumello, Inferno and Sassella subzones are also planted with Pinot Nero and Chardonnay. Part of the grapes used for production come from strictly selected regional winegrowers.
The vines of the Nino Negri vineyard, cultivated on the slopes of the mountains, find extremely favourable growing conditions in the microclimate zone, which is rich in contrasts, thanks to mostly sandy, mineral-rich soils with a lightly silt subsoil, excellent aeration and optimal exposure to the sun. The cultivation area is protected from the cold north winds by the Rhaetian Alps in winter. SUPERIORE.DE
