“Mongrana” Rosso Maremma Toscana IGT 2016 (BIO)

This harmonious blend of Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet comes from Querciabella's Maremma estate. A charming bouquet with notes of tobacco and leather, which then give way to a ripe fruit. The balanced taste is fine fruity, intense and fresh. SUPERIORE.DE

"Eloquent and harmonious, featuring black cherry, black currant, violet, vanilla and graphite aromas and flavors. A dusty cocoa note emerges on the extended finish." Wine Spectator

"Love the aromas of plums, cherries and currants with hints of flowers and undertones of dried flowers. Full body, round and silky tannins and fresh and bright finish. A blend of sangiovese, merlot and cabernet sauvignon. Needs two or three years to come together, but already beautiful. From biodynamically grown grapes and vegan." James Suckling

      Chianti Classico DOCG 2016 (BIO)

Wonderful scent of raspberries, notes of tobacco and violets. Enormous density, compact structure, robust tannins, youthful and fresh temperament, paired with a certain finesse. Ends long with notes of juicy red berries. SUPERIORE.DE

"Glowing ruby with a glowing core. Elegant and expressive nose of rich cherries and blackberries, reminiscent of fresh figs in the aftertaste. On the palate very fine, melting, with tightly woven tannin, builds up in many layers, great fruit and freshness in the final." Falstaff

"Lustrous, mid ruby. Complex, cool and perfumed nose. Supple, mouth-filling cherry and cranberry fruit that strikes a perfect balance with the tangy acidity and ripe, chewy tannins. Hedonistic and elegant." Jancis Robinson

"The 2016 Chianti Classico is an explosion of floral-infused aromatics and red-toned fruit, all in the super-classic mid-weight style that is such a signature of the Querciabella house style today. Rose petal, lavender, mint and sweet raspberry fruit are pushed to the forefront. This is the first vintage in which more than half of the wine was aged in larger format oak ranging from tonneau to cask. Vineyards in Gaiole and Greve form the core of the blend, with a touch of fruit from Radda. The 2016 has enough freshness to drink well for another decade plus, but I would give it a few years in bottle for the bright acids to integrate a bit further. There are a number of pricier wines in Querciabella's range, but I am not sure any of them can match the Chianti Classico for pure pleasure. What a lovely wine it is." VINOUS

"Shows real concentration for a Chianti Classico with notes of brambleberries, blackcurrants, black cherries and baking spices. Full body, grippy tannins and loads of fruit. But this remains refined and elegant, all thanks to the precise acidity." James Suckling

    • Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2016 (BIO)

Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2016 (BIO)

Querciabella's Riserva is a great blend from the three best Chianti locations in Greve, Radda and Gaiole. Pure elegance on all levels: Rich ruby, subtle aromas of cherry, aniseed and tobacco, followed by notes of jasmine and violet. On the palate pleasantly medium-weight, ripe black cherries and herbs, very typical for this terroir. Well-balanced fruit, the structure is dominated by obvious, well integrated tannins and a remarkably perfect acidity. Intense and persistent with sufficient extract for safe storage potential. Chapeau! SUPERIORE.DE

"Fleshy, dark ruby. Very appealing and open nose, lots of ripe raspberry and blackberry, behind this fine spicy notes. Juicy and clear at the beginning and the end, beautifully worked out fruit, unfolds in the rear with dense tannin, very long finish." Falstaff

"Beautiful, concentrated ruby. Quite closed and backward, but subtle and complex on the nose. Bags of concentrated fruit and yet super-elegant palate. Vibrant with perfectly built, long, fine tannins. Refreshing and complex." Jancis Robinson

"Energy and firmness showing in a medium-bodied package of currants and cherries, as well as cedar and flowers. Lightly chewy tannins and a linear, tight finish. Needs some time to soften, but already a beauty. From biodynamically grown grapes." James Suckling

"The 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva is an attractive wine built on aromatics and structure, with the fruit more in the background. It will be interesting to see if it fleshes out with more time in bottle. Sweet red cherry, lavender, rose petal, mint and spice gradually develop in the glass, but the 2016 remains quite reticent. It will be interesting to see if time in bottle brings out more depth. Today, the 2016 is decidedly shy. I very much like the energy here." Vinous

In the glass, the 2016 has a real sense of phenolic intensity that offers a striking counter to the floral aromatics and expressive, layered fruit. The 2016 is 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Blanc, much of that younger plantings of the Gouges clones of Pinot Blanc sourced in Burgundy. • "Camartina" Rosso Toscana IGT 2010 (BIO)

“Camartina” Rosso Toscana IGT 2010 (BIO)

Camartina 2010 presents itself sparkling ruby, with opulent fragrant bouquet of cloves, lots of blackberry fruit, some chocolate. On the palate very much juicy fruit, spicy notes, underlaid by grippy tannin, very clear and long. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2010 Camartina is one of the most beautiful versions of this wine I have tasted in some time. Layered and vibrant on the palate, the 2010 impresses for its finesse and nuance. Freshly cut flowers, mint, dark red berries and graphite all meld together in a wine of exceptional refinement. Today, the aromas and flavors are naturally not fully expressive, but another few years should work wonders. The cool, late-ripening season yielded a Camartina of understated class and pedigree. This is a fabulous showing." Antonio Galloni

"A powerful red wine with an abundance of berry, dried fruits and hints of vanilla on the nose and palate. Full body, with chewy tannins and a fresh finish. Needs at least two or three years of bottle age to come together. Made from biodynamically grown grapes." James Suckling

"A vivid, fresh style, whose berry and cherry flavors are focused and augmented by tobacco, underbrush and iron notes. Tight and intense, presenting a long, mineral-inflected finish. Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese." Wine Spectator

"The 2010 Camartina offers many beautiful surprises. This blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Sangiovese is a structured and powerful wine, but it offers elegance and balance as well. This classic vintage has done its part to shape a wine that offers bright fruit intensity, delineated aromas of blueberry and spice, and a richly velvety sensation in the mouth. • "Camartina" Rosso Toscana IGT 2011 (BIO)

“Camartina” Rosso Toscana IGT 2011 (BIO)

Camartina presents itself sparkling ruby, with opulent fragrant bouquet of cloves, lots of blackberry fruit, some chocolate. On the palate very much juicy fruit, spicy notes, underlaid by grippy tannin, very clear and long. SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright ruby with violet shimmer. Opened with a fine spicy note of cinnamon and cloves, with some cherry in the background. Juicy and salty in the base and course, opens with a pithy, slightly sandy tannin, firm pressure in the finish." Falstaff

"The 2011 Camartina is rich, layered and exquisite in the glass. Fine, silky tannins provide the backdrop as this super-refined, polished Tuscan red shows off its personality. These hillside vineyards above Greve often yield wines of total finesse. That is certainly the case here. The 2011 Camartina isn't a blockbuster, instead it is a wine that impresses for its balance and overall harmony." Antonio Galloni

"A dense, rich red with dried-berry, orange-peel and chocolate character. Full body, soft, silky tannins and a long, flavorful finish." James Suckling

    • Chianti Classico DOCG 2016 (BIO) <br>Double-MAGNUM in OWC

Chianti Classico DOCG 2016 (BIO) · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

    About the winemakers
    Querciabella
    Tuscany | Chianti
    Querciabella

Only one hectare of vines and a few old farm buildings belonged to the Agricola Querciabella when the Milanese family Cossia Castiglioni bought the farm in 1972. It then took just two years for the company, which comes from the steel sector "quality fanatics" Giuseppe Cossia Castiglioni had the first bottles bottled. Today the estate, located on the Ruffoli hill near Greve in Chianti Classico, is one of the most prestigious wine producers in Tuscany.

The farm, now managed by Sebastiano Cossa Castiglioni, son of the founder, covers 74 hectares of vineyards in Chianti Classico and 32 hectares in a farm acquired in 1997 in the Maremma. The partly newly planted areas are planted with Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and a little Merlot and Syrah. Since 1988 with organic viticulture and since the turn of the millennium with biodynamic viticulture, the Querciabella estate has been combining sustainable agriculture with the highest level of wine enjoyment. The makers even do without the use of blue copper and sulphur permitted in organic viticulture. The vineyards in the upper region of the Ruffoli Hill are already reacting to the impulses given to the soil by consistent, near-natural cultivation.

Sebastiano not only purchased stainless steel fermenters and numerous new barriques, but also engaged Guido de Santi, one of Italy's best oenologists. The Chianti Classico team, in particular, has for some time been using more careful vinification methods in order to pay even greater tribute to the individual characteristics of the grapes.

The ambition of the Querciabella winery is still very high: Chianti Classico, Palafreno (pure Merlot) and the Cuvée Camartina are particularly good. But also the white Batar is every year so good (and durable) that it is probably the best white wine of Central Tuscany for some wine connoisseurs. We can all be sure that the special characteristics of all labels will continue to be carefully worked out in the Tuscan top winery in the future. (superiore.de)

"This winery is a fascination. Over the years, it has proven many times that it is capable not only of producing excellent wines, but also extremely innovative ones."Gambero Rosso
