Vermentino Costa Toscana IGT 2025 (BIO)
The vineyards are situated 15 metres above sea level, facing west, on soils composed of river sediment with a sandy texture. The coastal sunshine shines through in the radiant straw-yellow hues of this wine. The fresh bouquet offers notes of lemon and freshly cut green apples, along with hints of mint and sage; these Mediterranean impressions are also reflected on the palate. A delicious, lingering and highly versatile Vermentino from western Tuscany. SUPERIORE.DE

!["Cassiopea" Rosato Toscana IGT 2025]()
“Cassiopea” Rosato Toscana IGT 2025
In the heart of Bolgheri, where Marilisa Allegrini and her late brother Walter realised their Tuscan dream in 2001, an ancient tradition is being revived. Cassiopea takes its name from the constellation that shines brightly above the 70-hectare Poggio al Tesoro estate – a cosmic 'W' for Walter or an 'M' for Marilisa, depending on your perspective in the night sky over the Costa Toscana. This elegant rosé hails from the prestigious Le Sondraie vineyard, which was once leased to Ornellaia and now forms the heart of the Allegrini vision. The 'soprastrada' site, situated east of the famous Strada Bolgherese, is considered the highest-quality area in Bolgheri. Here, where the Seggio stream has carried minerals from the nearby hills for centuries, complex soils of sand, clay and pebbles with a high magnesium content create ideal conditions for both grape varieties.

“Eco di Mare” Vermentino Toscana IGT 2025
Eco di Mare is a white tribute to the Tuscan sea. Made from 100% Vermentino from the Alta Maremma, where the Etruscans once mined silver from the earth and where, today, the Turnauer family crafts elegant wines from this mineral-rich terroir. The estate is situated at the southernmost point of the Bolgheri DOC, on the heights of Donoratico, and forms part of the historic estate owned by the Florentine Serristori family. In the red Aeolian sands of Donoratico, at altitudes of between 20 and 80 metres, the Vermentino vines thrive under the shelter of centuries-old pine groves along the Viale dei Pini. 15 days' fermentation, two months' ageing on the fine lees, three months' bottle ageing.

!["Botro dei Fichi" Vermentino Bolgheri DOC 2024 (BIO)]()
“Botro dei Fichi” Vermentino Bolgheri DOC 2024 (BIO)
In the Tuscan dialect, "Botro" means a ditch, a natural channel that carries water away. "Dei Fichi" refers to the fig trees. The Botro dei Fichi is already mentioned in the cadastral records of the 18th-century Leopoldine Land Survey – a small depression on the estate that gave its name to a wine long before Vermentino was grown here. The vineyard lies at an altitude of 50 metres, facing west, on volcanic soil with a high proportion of scree. No sand dunes, no alluvial deposits – volcanic rock that lends the grape variety structure and minerality. Fermentation for 30 days in unglazed, raw concrete vats at a controlled temperature of 18°C, using indigenous yeasts. At least three months sur lies. No oak.

“Miché" Rosato Metodo Ancestrale Frizzante s.a. secco
Michele Satta came to Castagneto Carducci in 1974 – by chance, as he says himself. He stayed forever. Since the first Vendemmia in 1983, his story has grown in parallel with the history of Bolgheri, vintage after vintage, vineyard after vineyard. Miché is his most personal chapter: named after himself, made from grapes that were once simply thinned out. Satta has kept them – and distilled them into a wine that is unrivalled in Tuscany. 100% Sangiovese, Metodo Ancestrale. No second fermentation according to the recipe, no filtration, no dosage – the yeast remains, the perlage develops naturally in the bottle. Pet-Nat in Tuscan, if you like ...

Rosso Bolgheri DOC 2023
Michele Satta's Bolgheri Rosso is far more than just his bestseller – it is the authentic calling card of a non-conformist who was one of the first in Bolgheri to have the courage to marry international grape varieties with Tuscan Sangiovese. Satta took this revolutionary step back in 1982, two years before the Bolgheri DOC was founded, creating an archetype of the modern Bolgheri style. The speciality of this wine lies in its unconventional blend: 30% Sangiovese and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon form the backbone, complemented by 20% Merlot and 10% each of Syrah and Pinot Noir – here lies Satta's stroke of genius – teroldego. This rare grape variety from Trentino gives the blend a unique freshness and mineral tension that clearly sets it apart from other Bolgheri wines.

It was very courageous when Michele Satta vinified the first Vermentino in Bolgheri in 1984 – at a time when the appellation had only just been created and white wine still seemed unthinkable in an area dominated by red wine. Costa di Giulia, named after a vineyard at the foot of Castagneto Carducci, was created as a single-varietal treasure from Vermentino until Satta made a far-reaching decision in 1997: the addition of 40 per cent Sauvignon Blanc was to give the wine more character and a more extracted, sweeter, broader finesse.

That's why I wanted to vinify Vermentino from the Le Gonnare vineyard, a small plot planted in 1987, and leave the skins to macerate with the must for 6 days during alcoholic fermentation. This has led to more aroma and the characteristic golden colour without making it heavy. A full-bodied and at the same time very cheerful wine." Fabio Motta

Rosso Bolgheri DOC 2024
Michele Satta's Bolgheri Rosso is far more than just his bestseller – it is the authentic calling card of a non-conformist who was one of the first in Bolgheri to have the courage to blend international grape varieties with Tuscan Sangiovese. As early as 1982, two years before the Bolgheri DOC was established, Satta took this revolutionary step, thereby creating an archetype of the modern Bolgheri style. What makes this wine so special is its unconventional blend: 30% Sangiovese and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon form the backbone, complemented by 20% Merlot and 10% each of Syrah and – here lies Satta's stroke of genius – Teroldego. This rare grape variety, native to Trentino, lends the blend a unique freshness and mineral tension that clearly sets it apart from other Bolgheri wines.

Grandiose wines of world renown.
Once upon a time there was a sleepy village in the Maremma, high above the sea only ten kilometres away as the crow flies. There the family of the wife of the young Marchese Mario Incisa della Rochetta owned a small piece of stony land. Already as a student of agriculture in Pisa, the Marchese dreamed of producing a noble wine like the famous Bordeaux estates. After all, his grandfather had already written books about the most important grape varieties.
Shortly after the Second World War he tried Cabernet Sauvignon on the rocky hill below Castiglioncello Castle. Outside of all then recognized wine-growing areas. 1948 was the year, the first wine was ready. Nothing was sold. Also the next years up to the 1960s the wine was drunk only itself. Always put some boxes away - in order to taste later how it would develop. And the Marchese found that he developed splendidly. So in 1965 two more vineyards were planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
Son Nicolò and nephew Piero Antinori finally persuaded the Marchese to market the wine. The rest is legend. In 1968 the first Sassicaia, named after the stony ground (Sassi = stones) came onto the market. The Cabernet Sauvignon with a small percentage of Cabernet Franc caused a sensation in Italy and soon received international awards. The Sassicaia became a cult by 1985 at the latest. The success was partly the fault of oenologist legend Giacomo Tachis, who had already blown the boundaries of Chianti Classico for the Antinori family with the Tignanello and who now also advised Marchese Incisa della Rochetta.
The Supertuscans were born.
Because of course it was over with the calm in this small place. After also Lodovico Antinori, the younger brother of family boss Piero here 1981 the Tenuta dell'Ornellaia, all the famous Italian wine producers wanted a vineyard here. In no time excavators dug up whole hills and the land prices exploded. But - these wines did not fit into any DOC rules. So they labelled it Vino da Tavola - table wine. An English-speaking wine critic turned it into "supertuscans". The international success was gigantic. This pleased the Italian Minister of Agriculture Goria, but that Vino da Tavola stood on the best Italian wines left him no peace. This is how the IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica) category was created, which made it possible to market such wines with controlled origins.
In 1994 Bolgheri was promoted to DOC and the Tenuta San Guido, as the winery is actually called, was the first - and still only - winery to receive its own DOC Bolgheri-Sassicaia in 2013.
In the meantime there are many great wines from different producers. Argentiera, Ca' Marcanda (Angelo Gaja), Grattamacco, Guado al Tasso (Antinori), Kappa, Le Macchiole, Michele Satta, Poggio al Tesoro or Tenuta di Biserno are just a few of the names that can be heard alongside the top stags Sassicaia and Ornellaia, the latter belonging to Frescobaldi since 2005.
The almost 200 hectares at the beginning of the 2000s have now grown to more than 1,200, and this has become approx. 4.8 million litres of top-quality wine. Even if the big investment boom has finally subsided again, the Supertuscans from Bolgheri remain audience favourites. You don't treat yourself to anything else. SUPERIORE.DE
