Vermentino Toscana IGT 2022 (BIO)
The vineyards are 15 metres above sea level on a westerly exposure on river sediment soils with a sandy texture. The coastal sun shines through in the straw-yellow nuances of this wine. On the fresh bouquet, notes of lemon, freshly cut green apples, along with hints of mint and sage; these Mediterranean impressions are also found on the palate. A tasty, persistent and very versatile Vermentino from western Tuscany. SUPERIORE.DE

“Mediterra” Rosso Toscana IGT 2021
Mediterra with its inviting aromas of paprika, redcurrant, elderberry, sage and black pepper is round and harmonious on the palate with beautiful fruit and spice. With its well-proportioned tannins and well-balanced acidity, Mediterra is a perfect accompaniment to food. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, dark ruby red colour. Aromas of dark plum, blueberries and black pepper on the nose. Soft and mouth-filling on the palate, with a noticeable woody note, slightly drying tannins, juicy fruit flavours and a hint of bitter almond." Falstaff
"This red is signaled by intense aromas of wild blackberry, black pepper, black olive and eucalyptus. Showing earth and underbrush accents that augment the fruity flavors, this firms up on the finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2021 Mediterra is bright, effusive and wonderfully inviting. Crushed flowers, herbs, tobacco, spice and leather meld into a core of juicy dark blue/purplish fruit. The Mediterra offers all of the immediacy of Bolgheri but with tons of freshness more than opulence. It is a hugely appealing style, especially at this level, where wines are typically intended to be drunk essentially on release." Vinous
"Dark chocolate, toasted walnuts, mocha and ripe dark berries on the nose. Medium- to full-bodied and structured with firm but very fine tannins. Shows notes of toasted cedar and bitter spices yet very delicate with integration and balance. Smooth and polished finish." James Suckling

“Scalabrone” Rosato Bolgheri DOC 2022
Scalabrone presents itself generously every year, but also incredibly fresh. It shows ripe strawberries with hints of sweet cream, tropical kiwi and lime. It washes over the palate with ease, carrying ripe red fruits, a hint of melon and a piquant minerality. The finish is long and flanked by lively acidity and salty minerals. This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah is perfectly balanced and makes this tasty rosato one of the most vibrant in the appellation every year. SUPERIORE.DE
"Pink in colour. In the nose of fresh wild berries and Mediterranean maquis, then slightly of white rose petals. Fresh and juicy on the palate, with a discreet tannic trip, fun, medium-long final." Falstaff
"A pretty blend of roses, strawberries and mint introduces the 2022 Rosato Scalabrone. This is silky-smooth with medium-bodied weight and unexpected depth. Zesty citrus gives way to ripe red berries and sweet spice. A saline tinge of minerality defines the finish as the 2022 tapers off crisply refreshing and buzzing with a residual acid tension." Vinous

"The Michele Satta 2021 Bolgheri Rosso is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Merlot, Syrah and Teroldego that marches to a different drum. “Bell’Aja” Rosso Bolgheri DOC 2021
40 years after acquiring the Montalcino branch Campogiovanni, the Tuscan flagship winery San Felice, which is now part of the Allianz Group, has decided on a further expansion called Bell'Aja. In the Bolgheri locality of Le Sondraie, 6 hectares of vineyards with clayey-sandy soils were selected, where mainly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot were planted over 12 years ago. There are only two wines from this new Bell'Aja appellation, Bolgheri Rosso and Bolgheri Rosso Superiore.
Bright purple in colour, the bouquet is full of dark forest berries. The palate is then full of harmony with a delicate acidity and soft, very enveloping tannins. A warm, flattering red with a profile that fully lives up to its noble origins. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red with a narrow garnet-red rim. Complex bouquet of cassis, hazelnut, cherry jam, pepper, also slightly meaty. Builds on the palate, with rich fruit, firm tannins and a long finish." Falstaff
"A muscular red wine with ripe plum and black cherry flavours backed by wild herbs and earth. While revealing powerful tannins, it lingers beautifully, with a firm grip on the finish." Wine Spectator
"A juicy and precise Bolgheri that is crisp on the palate, medium to full-bodied, with fine, fresh tannins and juicy cherries and berries. Just a hint of chocolate and some herbs. The fruit, especially the purity of the fruit, is the protagonist here. Already enjoyable now." James Suckling
"A savory nose ranges from soil, leather and cured meat to brighter, more acidic red peppers and dried tomatoes, with an herbal kick providing freshness. The palate preserves the savoriness while also adding the sweetness of strawberries and cherry tomatoes. Tannins are robust but forgiving, and acidity is persistent." Wine Enthusiast

Occhione is a racy and fresh cuvée of 90% Vermentino and 10% Viognier. Bright light yellow with greenish reflections. All in all, a fresh and elegant wine that not only goes perfectly with fine Mediterranean fish cuisine, but also brings the typical maquis of the Maremma into the glass. SUPERIORE.DE
"Straw yellow, spicy flower of Williams pear and lime, also fine mint; crisp acidity, mineral-salty development, peach finish." Vinum

"A taut, elegant red with a pure stream of black cherry, blackberry, violet and mineral flavours. Overall balanced, with tannins that unfold on the finish." Wine Spectator
"A superb Bolgheri that offers both freshness and excellent depth and complexity. Lots of dark cherries and fresh blackberries on the nose with some cocoa powder, dark olives, stones and peppercorn spices. The palate is full-bodied with fine, dusty tannins, a juicy, broad centre and a long, concentrated finish. Bravo!" James Suckling
"Showing a decisive primary note with generous fruit, the Podere Sapaio 2021 Bolgheri Rosso Volpolo has dark berries and black cherry, with hints of pie crust, a strong theme of purple fruits and a sharper note that is not completely mineral but flinty. Spice appears with more time in the glass with hints of light cinnamon and nutmeg. The wine has great length with powdery tannins." Wine Advocate

“SOF” Rosato Toscana IGT 2022
SOF is a rosé project designed by Sophia Antinori, daughter of Lodovico Antinori, and packaged in a heavy frosted bottle with a flared cap. This delicate Tuscan rosato displays a pale pink colour with light amber highlights. The wine smells of sweet fruits such as wild raspberries and fragolina di bosco, which are followed by bitter almond and dried sage. It is a slender-bodied rosé with balanced freshness and lively acidity that is immensely enjoyable! SUPERIORE.DE
"A rosé dedicated to Lodovico Antinori's daughter Sophia: feverish nose of red peaches, raspberries and flowers; juicy on the palate, the acidity vif, elegant construction with beautiful polish and a sweet raspberry final. To a summer evening in the garden." Vinum
"Light old pink, silver reflections. Nuances of roses and mint, fine red forest berries are underlaid, nuances of lemon balm. Medium body, delicate strawberry notes, fresh acidity, lime in the finish, animating summer wine, salty finish." Falstaff

Bolgheri Rosso DOC 2021
Classic Bolgheri Rosso with a strong bouquet of raspberries and redcurrants, cassis and a little tobacco. Juicy, full-bodied flavour, beautiful tannins and good acidity. A wonderful introduction to the great world of Le Macchiole wines. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Bolgheri Rosso 2021 is a great wine that shows how convincing this vintage is on the Tuscan coast. Exuberant and deep, the 2021 is wonderfully complex from start to finish. Gentle notes of mocha, new leather, cedar, tobacco and dried flowers add complexity." Vinous
"Refined combination of black berries, coffee and dried flowers; on the palate with character, robust tannins, lingering fruit and herbal notes on the finish." Vinum
"Bright ruby violet colour. Discreet and fine on the nose, of pine needles, cold smoke and ripe wild berries. Gripping on the palate, with young, still somewhat impetuous tannins, shows great juiciness in the finish, still needs a little patience." Falstaff
"Attractive aromas of dark berries with crushed walnuts, savoury herbs and dusty earth tones. Medium to full-bodied with a firm grip of tannins that are fine and polished. A juicy acidity cuts through the linear finish. Fresh with a stony minerality that shines through on the finish." James Suckling
"The wine shows itself from the start with powerful but also very fresh fruit flavours of dark cherries and blackberries. The quality of the primary fruit is perfect, especially in this balanced vintage, and you get powerful flavours that go well with grilled meat. The wine has tremendous structure, acidity and elegant tannins." Wine Advocate
"On the nose, sweet, slightly tart aromas of cherries and blackberries are balanced by a stony, spicy earthiness. That interplay between tart fruit and sanguine earthiness continues on the palate, creating the sensation of a breath of fresh spring air after the rain, before chalky tannins and bright acid usher in a bitter, peppery finish." Wine Enthusiast
"This pure and expressive red wine is characterised by aromas of cherries, raspberries and blackberries, complemented by iron, spices and light herbal notes. Lean and elegant, with a juicy profile and excellent persistence on the finish." Wine Spectator

“Passi di Orma” Rosso Bolgheri DOC 2021
Strong ruby red. Clearly defined bouquet with beautiful herbal spice. In the glass, a deep dark fruit and a very round body, fine acidity and polished tannins. A classic representative of the noble Bolgheri appellation with an exceptionally harmonious overall impression. Be sure to aerate. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Passi di Orma is the entry-level wine at Orma from Bolgheri. The 21 has a dull, light-toned aroma of chocolatey fruit and berry accents with incense, rosemary and bay leaves. Sweet, fleshy, round and somewhat hearty it then appears in the mouth. Broad, full-bodied, with a rich mid-palate but little finesse or character, lingering somewhat reductive and framed by good wood." Weinwisser
"Rich ruby red with a slightly brightening rim. Spicy on the nose of black pepper and fruity of rich sour cherry, then slightly leathery with a touch of chocolate and coffee grounds. Lots of ripe cherry on the palate, well balanced, with fine-grained tannin and a long final." Falstaff

Grandiose wines of world renown.
Once upon a time there was a sleepy village in the Maremma, high above the sea only ten kilometres away as the crow flies. There the family of the wife of the young Marchese Mario Incisa della Rochetta owned a small piece of stony land. Already as a student of agriculture in Pisa, the Marchese dreamed of producing a noble wine like the famous Bordeaux estates. After all, his grandfather had already written books about the most important grape varieties.
Shortly after the Second World War he tried Cabernet Sauvignon on the rocky hill below Castiglioncello Castle. Outside of all then recognized wine-growing areas. 1948 was the year, the first wine was ready. Nothing was sold. Also the next years up to the 1960s the wine was drunk only itself. Always put some boxes away - in order to taste later how it would develop. And the Marchese found that he developed splendidly. So in 1965 two more vineyards were planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
Son Nicolò and nephew Piero Antinori finally persuaded the Marchese to market the wine. The rest is legend. In 1968 the first Sassicaia, named after the stony ground (Sassi = stones) came onto the market. The Cabernet Sauvignon with a small percentage of Cabernet Franc caused a sensation in Italy and soon received international awards. The Sassicaia became a cult by 1985 at the latest. The success was partly the fault of oenologist legend Giacomo Tachis, who had already blown the boundaries of Chianti Classico for the Antinori family with the Tignanello and who now also advised Marchese Incisa della Rochetta.
The Supertuscans were born.
Because of course it was over with the calm in this small place. After also Lodovico Antinori, the younger brother of family boss Piero here 1981 the Tenuta dell'Ornellaia, all the famous Italian wine producers wanted a vineyard here. In no time excavators dug up whole hills and the land prices exploded. But - these wines did not fit into any DOC rules. So they labelled it Vino da Tavola - table wine. An English-speaking wine critic turned it into "supertuscans". The international success was gigantic. This pleased the Italian Minister of Agriculture Goria, but that Vino da Tavola stood on the best Italian wines left him no peace. This is how the IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica) category was created, which made it possible to market such wines with controlled origins.
In 1994 Bolgheri was promoted to DOC and the Tenuta San Guido, as the winery is actually called, was the first - and still only - winery to receive its own DOC Bolgheri-Sassicaia in 2013.
In the meantime there are many great wines from different producers. Argentiera, Ca' Marcanda (Angelo Gaja), Grattamacco, Guado al Tasso (Antinori), Kappa, Le Macchiole, Michele Satta, Poggio al Tesoro or Tenuta di Biserno are just a few of the names that can be heard alongside the top stags Sassicaia and Ornellaia, the latter belonging to Frescobaldi since 2005.
The almost 200 hectares at the beginning of the 2000s have now grown to more than 1,200, and this has become approx. 4.8 million litres of top-quality wine. Even if the big investment boom has finally subsided again, the Supertuscans from Bolgheri remain audience favourites. You don't treat yourself to anything else. SUPERIORE.DE
