    "Italian red wines are better than French ..." joked Italy's Chancellor Renzi to France's President Hollande. And that is not wrong at all, because in many blind tastings worldwide Italian red wines often won clearly against the French. Very often it was the Supertuscans from Tuscany. The grape varieties in Bolgheri and Maremma are similar to those in Bordeaux. Ornellaia, Sassicaia or also the Saffredi are sought-after wines of the top denomination.

    Many international awards - above all high Parker points - of course always reach the three "B's". Barolo and Barbaresco with the elegance of Piedmont's Nebbiolo grape and Brunello di Montalcino - the best of grapes that can be pressed in Tuscany from Sangiovese.
