“Tradition” St. Magdalener Alto Adige DOC 2022
"Once upon a time, St. Magdalener, a traditional cuvée of the two autochthonous grape varieties Vernatsch and Lagrein, not only played a very important role in South Tyrolean viticulture but was also one of the most famous Italian red wines. But even today, this finely fruity and characteristically stylish red wine, named after the growing area around the wine village of St. Magdalena, has many lovers and is currently being rediscovered by many a connoisseur." Rudi Kofler (Cellar Master Cantina Terlano)
Strong ruby red, with a clear, superficial fruit of black elderberries and cherries on the nose, rounded off by a bitter almond aroma and hints of violets. Fruity on the palate, soft and elegant with a balanced acidity structure and a low tannin content for the Vernatsch variety. SUPERIORE.DE

“Tradition” Lagrein Rosé Alto Adige DOC 2022
The Lagrein Kretzer is a brilliant light red - a typical South Tyrolean rosé. The fresh, fruity taste with memories of blueberries harmonises with the light rose bouquet. A full-bodied, stimulating drop. SUPERIORE.DE
"Light cherry pink. Inviting with floral notes of rose petals and some orange zest, plus some tangerine and pomegranate. Very linear on the palate, punchy and with precise fruit into the juicy, salty final." Falstaff
"Airy and remarkably fresh, the 2022 Rosé Lagrein opens slowly to reveal crushed stone and young peach. Sweet fruits combine with salty minerals over a core of citrusy acidity. The medium-length finish focuses on the red flowers inside the wine, while the mouth is left wanting more." Vinous

“Monticol” Blauburgunder Riserva Alto Adige Terlano DOC 2020
The garnet red Pinot Noir Monticol smells of blackberry and wild berries, with fine tobacco aromas and coffee in the background. Delicate and well balanced on the palate, silky tannin, long and slightly mineral on the finish. A great, elegant Pinot Noir. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2020 Pinot Noir Riserva Monticol opens slowly in the glass, blending pretty pink tones with wild strawberries and dusty stone. This is pure elegance, silky yet refined, with crisp red fruits and crunchy minerality giving the wine a tactile edge. The Monticol leaves a hint of youthful concentration and a sour citrus note that underlines the style beautifully." Vinous
"This bright red shows a sense of poise and fine balance, with a rich vein of minerally iron and smoke underscoring flavors of wild cherry, medicinal herbs and mandarin orange peel. Well-knit and generous, without being weighty, offering a lasting, spiced finish framed by light, taut tannins." Wine Spectator

“Lunare” Gewürztraminer Alto Adige Terlano DOC 2020
Lunare Traminer Aromatico has an intense straw-yellow colour, with complex aromas of roses, cloves and lychee on the nose. Its taste is very full-bodied with the very slightly bitter finish typical of Traminer. This successful Gewürztraminer is an excellent accompaniment to liver pâté, white meat dishes and refined pasta dishes with sauces and creams. SUPERIORE.DE
"Radiant, light golden yellow. In the nose aromatic, intense, tropical fruits, behind cloves, pepper and yellow rose petals. Very fruity-sweet and finely spicy on the palate, well balanced, with great freshness, juicy, with a persistent final." Falstaff
"The partially oak–aged Cantina Terlano 2020 Alto Adige Gewürztraminer Lunare is fragrant, sweet and rich. With fruit from a hot vintage, the wine is weighty and sticky in places, and it concludes with a powerful and unexpected 15% alcohol content. The bouquet shows dried apricot, almond blossom and a collection of candied fruit aromas like you might taste in a Sicilian dessert. It is quite thick in texture, and it moves slowly over the palate with subtle sweetness. Sage and dried herb appear on the delicate finish." Wine Advocate
"The effusive floral honey, jasmine and candied tropical–fruit aromas make this super–sensual gewurz very hard to resist. Full–bodied and rich, yet properly dry and very clean, this is a remarkable expression of this classic grape variety, without a hint of the extravagance so often associated with it." James Suckling

“Nova Domus” Cuvée Riserva Alto Adige Terlano DOC 2020
A noble white cuvée of Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay and Sauvignon, as majestic as the Terlan castle ruins of the same name. Powerful and complex, multifaceted, exotic and mineral, this classic Terlaner brings out the advantages of the growing region in a strong character. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Terlaner Riserva Nova Domus 2020 needs time to come into focus. It starts smoky and mineral. When you swirl it, it unfolds its hidden charm: sweet chamomile and mint give way to apples with lime and spices. It floods the palate with an opulent, silky texture that seems almost heavy, but is balanced by a mineral acidity boost, while young peach and nectarine notes linger. The 2020 finishes on a spicy, almost salty note." Vinous
"Vibrant elderflower, flowers and herbs with a round, juicy texture and a seductive acid core. Very long and elegant." Decanter
"A beautiful, delicious white wine where the chalky, mineral underpinnings combine harmoniously with aromas of ripe Gala apple, nectarine, almond blossom and pickled ginger. Long and velvety in texture, with a lovely floral finish." Wine Spectator
"A rich and complex bouquet with glazed peaches, ripe mangoes, crushed walnuts and pie crust. Also a hint of dried flowers. Full-bodied, taut and mineral with a chalky texture that gives it structure and length. Nice acidity that holds its nerve and leads to a long, energetic finish." James Suckling
"Fruit of a selection of the best Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Sauvignon grapes, a breathtaking blend. It has a compact, taut nose with scents of candied cedar, eucalyptus and a slightly almondy finish. The palate impresses with a refined savouriness and a fresh, citrusy finish." Luca Gardini

Limitation of 6 articles per customer“Quarz” Sauvignon Bianco Alto Adige Terlano DOC 2021
Named after the quartz flecks in the volcanic porphyry rock of Terlan, Italy's most famous Sauvignon Bianco lives up to its name. Sparkling yellow-green. Filigree, delicately scented with grapefruit, peach, honey and green papaya. Quartz is taut and precise, with a fleshy, creamy texture, great depth and a wonderful mineral-salty finish. Must have and must taste! SUPERIORE.DE
"Our Sauvignon selection, which has been given a truly significant name, is as filigree as the fine quartz incrustations in the volcanic porphyry rock of Terlan. Characteristic of the quartz are its fine texture and depth as well as a salty reverberation, which have in the meantime brought this noble white wine international renown." Rudi Kofler, Kellermeister Terlan
"Subtle grassy herbal notes lead to an expressive palate with lemon curd, guava and focused mineral characters; refreshing and long." Decanter
"This has lovely harmony to the flavors of melon, kiwi fruit, Meyer lemon peel and hints of chive blossoms and toast. An enticing white, deftly knit with rapierlike acidity and salty minerality, this is long and creamy on the palate, with spice, mineral and herb accents on the lasting finish.!" Wine Spectator
"The 2021 Sauvignon Blanc Quartz is very seductive, with a rich blend of spicy herbs and grapefruit peel underlined by a cooling hint of white smoke. It is powerful and smooth with medium body and a pretty inner sweetness that borders on decadence but is balanced by a bracing core of zesty acidity. Candied lemon and lime resonate, while a touch of salty minerality and chalk dust provide a perfect contrast. Like most Quartz vintages, this wine will age well over the medium term. Still, there's no harm in enjoying it now in this wonderful primary state." Vinous
"A sophisticated Sauvignon with a complex and aromatic nose offering notes of glazed citrus and stone fruit with honeysuckle and melon rind. The palate is full and structured with lively acidity. Creamy with the texture of a ripe nectarine and an exciting mineral finish." James Suckling
"Cantina Terlano's usual fascinating journey into the potential of Sauvignon Blanc. On the nose cedar, lychee, a hint of nectarine, then a menthol note and cedar thyme. Dense, crisp and exciting on the palate, with a fruity, citrusy finish and long reverberation." Luca Gardini

The rare Riserva Vorberg from Pinot Bianco is open, elegant and expressive. Brilliant straw yellow with light green tones. Generous bouquet with delicately nuanced aromas of peach, apricot and spices. Cool, deep and with all the advantages of the grape variety on the palate. "The flavours of apple and pear cream, pastry and crushed almonds, orange peel and vanilla in a supple, elegant frame are wonderfully concentrated. Round and well woven, but with good vibrancy through to the finish with delicate verbena, herbal and mineral notes." Wine Spectator
"Juicy pear, nectarine and peach with hints of spice and mature wood; round and ripe with a refreshing acidity." Decanter
"The 2020 Pinot Bianco Riserva Vorberg is absolute class. Hints of sweet smoke and dusty stone give way to nuances of ginger and crushed yellow apple. It coats the palate with rich, opulent fruit that glides along a balancing core of lively, mineral acidity. The Riserva Vorberg finishes long and powerful, but also youthfully backward, as the senses suffer from concentration and the salty note slowly subsides. It has enormous potential, but it will take some time for the 2020 to fully come into its own. Bury your bottles deep." Vinous
"This is very refined and focused with precision and beautiful length that goes on and on, showing peach blossom and white peach, green apple, and slate. Medium body, linear and focused. It’s vertical and exciting. Single vineyard at an altitude of between 500 and 600 meters." James Suckling

It floods the palate with an opulent, silky texture that seems almost heavy but is balanced by a mineral acidity boost, while young peach and nectarine notes linger.

"Attractive aromas of ripe bramble berries and wild berries with some toasted walnuts and smoked spices, dried orange peel and crushed violets. Medium- to full-bodied, structured and lengthy yet very fine and even across the palate. Tannins are so transparent and integrated with pure fruit blooming on the mid-palate. A little bit fluid at the end. Delicious as always." James Suckling

Named after the quartz inclusions in the volcanic porphyry rock of Terlan, Italy's most famous Sauvignon Bianco lives up to its name. Filigree, delicately scented with grapefruit, peach, honey and green papaya. Quartz is taut and precise, with a fleshy, creamy texture, great depth and a wonderful mineral-salty finish. Must have and must taste! SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright straw yellow with green notes. Intense nose with notes of gooseberry, lots of elderflower, lemon balm and sage, almost classic. Radiant on the palate, shows a lot of herbal spice there too, juicy, long after gooseberries in the final, delicate salty components." Falstaff
"A vibrant white that deftly integrates chiseled acidity and salty minerality with notes of ripe green apple, chive blossoms, nectarine, star fruit and pickled ginger. This is like an Hermès scarf, with the focused flavors painting a detailed pattern on a silky, featherweight palate." Wine Spectator
"The word 'spicy' doesn't do the 2020 Sauvignon Blanc Quarz justice, as this goes much deeper than that. Exotic curries, ginger, smoke and tomato leaf can all be found; yet beneath it all, there's a vivid note of honeydew melon. This is silky-smooth and pliant upon entry, yet it slowly saturates the palate in primary concentration, as pepper-tinged nectarine and lemon extracts resonate throughout. There's so much youthful tension, power and staining depths within, and also a balancing flourish of sweet inner florals that lasts incredibly long. The 2020 Quarz is going to require cellaring to show its best, but it will absolutely be worth waiting for. This is world-class Sauvignon." Vinous
"Again, I am so excited by this beautiful wine. The Cantina Terlano 2020 Alto Adige Terlano Sauvignon Quarz is always one of those bottles I bring to the table when I am lucky enough to have it in the day's tasting lineup. This vintage is especially fragrant and citrusy with passion fruit, unripe nectarine, crushed quartz (which gives inspiration to the wine's name) and hints of floral bergamot." Wine Advocate
"A beautifully crafted sauvignon blanc that marries the fruity, herbal, vegetal and mineral aspects of this grape to create a seamless and complex masterpiece. So pure, so elegant and refined, yet also invigorating, thanks to its Alpine freshness. Very long, crystalline finish." James Suckling
"The usual, fascinating journey into Cantina Terlan, within the potential of Sauvignon Blanc. To the nose cedar, lychee, hints of nectarine, followed by a mentholated note and citrus thyme. The mouthfeel has density, crispness and tension, with fruity-citrusy return and persistence." Luca Gardini
"Great varietal definition on the nose with grapefruit and herbal undertones. Rosemary and thyme along with a ripe citrus character. Lovely juicy cool green fruit flavours balanced by a strident minerality. Hard to find a better example of Sauvignon; well worth the money. A metaphysical wine with a lingering finish." Decanter

A noble Pinot Blanc with a lot of reverberation and potential. SUPERIORE.DE

The South Tyrolean municipality of Terlan, about halfway between Merano and Bolzano, combines the advantages of an alpine and Mediterranean climate. The combination of basic microclimatic conditions and the particularities of the soil promotes complex, highly personal and extremely long-lasting wines with a typical regional character, which are well preserved in the Terlan winery. As early as 1893, 24 winegrowers founded the production, sales and marketing association in this small village in the Etsch Valley, thus laying the foundation stone for one of the first winegrowers' cooperatives in South Tyrol. Today, the cooperative already has 143 members who cultivate a total of 162 hectares of vineyards in a committed and environmentally friendly manner.
The south- and south-west-facing, sun-drenched vineyards of the comrades, which begin at the foot of the Tschöggelberg mountain range, extend from gentle hilly areas in the valley floor reaching up to 250 metres to steep and 900-metre-high mountain slopes. The soils are sandy, stony and permeable. The lower sites are particularly suitable for Lagrein, Cabernet and other heavy red wines. Pinot blanc and white varieties, on the other hand, can be found in the higher geographical areas. During the ripening period, warm days and cool nights guarantee a balance of sugar, acidity and aromas. Every single vine of the winegrowers belonging to the Verbund is carefully classified in order to be able to meticulously determine the production quantity.
As one of the four managing directors of the Terlan winery, cellarmaster Rudi Kofler has a keen sense for developing autochthonous and internationally significant, strong, well-structured white and red wines with DOC status, which have a rich and ripe fruit component, in the sanctum of the house. The development and marketing of the - around 70 percent white - drops takes place in three quality lines.
Unique in Italy is the Cantina Terlano Wine Archive, with more than 20,000 bottles, the oldest of which dates back to the year of its foundation and each year a special tranche as "rarità" in small editions of approx. 3,500 bottles. The cooperative, which was published in 2015 by the journal "wine industry" was named Italy's number one for the third time in a row in a cooperative test and its chairman Georg Höller also works in the same function for the Association of South Tyrolean Wine Cooperatives. In 2008, he merged with Andrian Winery, which, however, retains its own brand. SUPERIORE.DE
"The meticulous classification of the vineyards of the individual winegrowers reflects the intimate relationship of this cooperative to its production area. The perfect interpretation of the various terroirs is the result of the stable and sustained success of these mineral, progressive wines, which glide calmly through the years, as shown by the stocks of old bottles that Sebastian Stocker has put back since time immemorial.“ Gambero Rosso
