Terlan is a small village south of Bolzano – and one of Italy’s most exceptional white wine regions. The combination of porphyry rock, calcareous subsoil, marked temperature fluctuations between day and night, and the Alps, which shield the valley from cold Atlantic winds, creates a terroir that gives white wines a longevity unrivalled anywhere else in the world. Founded in 1893, the Cantina Terlan has brought this potential to life like no other in the region.

The "Kreuth" – a South Tyrolean dialect term for a clearing in the forest, a crossroads in the countryside – is the Chardonnay from the selection line. The grapes are harvested by hand, pressed whole, and the must is clarified through natural sedimentation. Then comes the estate’s meticulous touch: slow, temperature-controlled fermentation in 30-hectolitre oak barrels, malolactic fermentation, and eight months’ ageing on the fine lees in the wood. Cellar master Rudi Kofler describes the Kreuth as a wine with light acidity, a creamy texture and elegant aromas – with that mineral depth that only the Terlan terroir can provide.

Bright pale yellow with golden highlights. The bouquet offers notes of exotic fruit – passion fruit, star fruit and citrus – , underpinned by understated elegance and delicate minerality.
