“Saia” Nero d’Avola Sicilia DOC 2019
This single-varietal Nero d'Avola is bursting with dark aromas of berries, black cherry, liquorice and tobacco. Lush and distinctive on the palate with wonderful spicy notes of mint, anise and espresso. Juicy tannin, good length, fine pressure. A very great wine at a very reasonable price! SUPERIORE.DE
"Deep dark purple with an almost impenetrable core. Boiled down dark fruit on the nose, dried plums, dried fig, slightly animal in the second smell. Gripping in the drink, tightly woven tannin, pithy structure, turns out punchy, shows rustic character, good length." Falstaff
"Feudo Maccari's oak–aged Nero d'Avola is sourced from older vines of around 30–40 years old, from higher plots of the estate's vineyards near Avola in southeast Sicily. After a maceration of around 20 days, the wine is matured in French oak barriques for 10–14 months. The result is a rich, structured and textured Nero d'Avola with cherry and dried fruits allied to fragrant potpourri, wood and chestnuts. It has good intensity and finishes with a bright, pure black cherry and raspberry coulis character." Decanter
"A super elegant Nero d'Avola, offering clear cherries and berries, together with hints of mediterranean herbs and a twinge of dried orange peel. Medium–to full–bodied, silky and refined with lightly firm tannins and a long, well–balanced finish." James Suckling

“Maharis” Syrah Sicilia DOC 2021
Deep dark, sparkling ruby red. On the nose, an opulent dark red fruit basket, intense and full. Already in the first sip, a depth that is unparalleled in this price range. The heights to which this wine is capable of carrying the connoisseur are nothing short of spectacular. At the same time, it always convinces with an indescribable balance. Maharis is never fat or jammy, but its potpourri of dark fruits, spices, matured leather and a subtle smoky note is always balanced with a surprising freshness and liveliness. The final is long, velvety and richly textured. Great! SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark shining ruby red. In the nose with noble use of wood, fine spice, black pepper and grated black currant, sour cherries, dried flowers in the aftertaste. On the palate grippy and present, with cool fruit core and tight tannin, final on fine salty notes." Falstaff
"This poised Syrah, from alberello vines grown in limestone soils in Noto, has an incredible fragrance of Parma violets, cedar, dark chocolate, balsam, dried cherries and wild strawberries. In the mouth it's concentrated and vertical, showing tons of freshness, floral fragrance and airy delicacy allied to some dark, sapid fruit. Succulent and stony with violet and lavender overtones, then liquorice, black pepper and coffee hints on the long finish, this is such a pretty wine." Decanter

“Firraru Family & Friends” Bianco Terre Siciliane IGT 2021 (BIO)
Firraru is Feudo Maccari's latest big hit: a small-production Grillo from black soils characterised by limestone, clay skeleton and an iron-rich matrix. Crystal clear yellow with golden reflections. Complex aroma of citrus fruits, fine flavours of vanilla and roasted cinnamon. Fresh and perfectly structured on the palate, with a fine tannin structure and an enveloping, very long flavour. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Firraru from Feudo Maccari is a single-varietal Grillo. Cool and racy, it is beautifully flavoured and produces plenty of juice and body with a differentiated depth. Firmly structured and long, this is probably one of the best Grillo." Weinwisser
"Bright light golden yellow colour. Intense aroma of yellow apple, grapefruit, acacia and orange blossom as well as vanilla and caramel on the nose. Structured and full-bodied on the palate, pleasantly spicy and beautifully melting, very powerful and long final on hazelnuts." Falstaff
"The smoky, tropical flavours are joined by a hint of herbs, and in the mouth the excellent acidity drives the fruit through a structured, full-bodied expression of the variety. Lemon, apricot and citrus peel are underscored by plenty of black pepper and a certain creaminess, leading to a long and savoury, spicy finish. Give it a few more months to allow the wood to integrate further." Decanter
"Lots of crushed oysters, dried flowers, flint and matches. Hints of vanilla. Full-bodied, but very energetic. Crunchy. Notes of liquorice and aniseed." James Suckling

The magnificent Feudo Maccari winery, managed by Antonio Moretti, is situated between Noto and Pachino in the province of Syracuse, in a lush Baroque landscape and thus in one of the best wine-growing areas in Sicily. The winegrower, who is firmly anchored in his Tuscan homeland as the owner of the Tenuta Sette Ponti and the Poggio al Lupo estate, began a new wine adventure immediately after the turn of the millennium out of love for the beautiful and wild nature of the Mediterranean island. Together with his daughter Monica, he brought about half of the total area of the old fief for the cultivation of vines to fruition. Moretti has thus gradually restored the former glory of the long neglected cultivation zone. In the family business, the grapes - including newly planted vines - are grown using the Alberello method. Feudo Maccari includes several residences, a guest house, a wine tasting room and a restored and functionally equipped wine cellar surrounded by vineyards.
The buscher education after the Alberello procedure in the midst of lemon, carob and almond trees, dwarf palms and olive groves has a long tradition in the eastern part of Sicily. The area between Noto and Pachino is also particularly suitable for the cultivation of Nero d'Avola. The Sicilian red parade variety and speciality of Feudo Maccari can play out its characteristics particularly well here thanks to the special microclimate and the extremely fertile volcanic soil. Cultivated in the winery next to Nero d'Avola the local white wine variety Grillo as well as Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Moscato. It is also thanks to the Moretti family that some vines planted about 60 years ago have been revived in all the old vineyards.
The Feudo Maccari winery is located as the crow flies a few kilometres from the Ionian Sea and just a stone's throw from the Vendicari Nature Reserve. In addition to the special climatic conditions, the meticulous work in the vineyard ensures healthy and optimally ripening grapes. The different characteristics of the terrain - black and white, clayey and calcareous - as well as the differences in altitude and exposure of the sites, make Feudo Maccari an extremely complex, delicious and terroir-true wine of impressive quality, characterised by great strength of character and elegance. Since the first bottlings, the labels of the Sicilian wine house have been convincing with a precise and clearly defined style, accompanied by only a few human interventions. With the support of the oenology team of Carlo Ferrini and Gioia Cresti, all the red wines are aged in French oak barrels. SUPERIORE.DE
"Moretti was attracted to Sicilian viticulture from an early age and set out to produce great Sicilian red wines that matched his Supertoscans." Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The wines are all of excellent quality and more concerned with elegance and finesse than with concentration."Gambero Rosso
