“Assolo” Frizzante Lambrusco Reggiano DOC 2025 secco
The Medici family has been growing Lambrusco in Montecchio Emilia for over a hundred years. Not because it sells well at the moment – but because they know no other way and want no other way. Four generations, one obsession: to make the best Reggiano DOC that these hills have to offer. Harvests far below the maximum authorised yield, soils made of heavy clay, care taken down to the last detail of vinification. Assolo is their most accessible wine – and it is not a compromise. 51% Ancellotta for colour and fruit, Lambrusco Salamino for acidity and bite. Cetamura – an uncomplicated but never banal everyday wine with a Ligurian name: The Etruscans once settled on the land that is now part of Tenuta Badia a Coltibuono – and so the name Cetamura also comes from that era. Since 1988, the wine has been selectively vinified from the best Sangiovese grapes with the aim of achieving a lively profile that is also suitable for everyday drinking. Bright ruby red in the glass. The nose reveals juicy cherry, red berries and floral accents, with a subtle spiciness in the background. The palate is fresh and soft with fine fruit and a pleasant structure, rounded off by a clean acidity and lively freshness. “Monte di Colognola” Soave DOC 2025
Soave has an image problem with many – wrongly so. Anyone who believes that the name stands for pale white wine with no origin is not yet familiar with the eastern hills of Colognola ai Colli. Here, on volcanic soils with sulphurous minerality, Garganega grows with a precision that one would not expect. Monte di Colognola bears the name of its UGA – the Additional Geographical Unit, one of the largest and westernmost hills in the denomination.

!["Colombara" Soave Classico DOC 2025]()
“Colombara” Soave Classico DOC 2025
Zenato describes its Colombara vineyard in two words: volcano and limestone. Both in perfect balance. The vineyards of the Colombara area, in the heart of Soave Classico, are situated on soils where basaltic volcanic rock meets limestone outcrops – a geological interplay that lends the Garganega both freshness and complexity. In 1960, Sergio Zenato founded his winery on Lake Garda. Since then, Soave Classico and Lugana have been the two pillars around which all the estate's white wines revolve. The Colombara is the purest expression of the former.

Bright ruby red in the glass. The bouquet is characterised by dark fruit: black cherries and redcurrants, accompanied by elegant hints of violet and balsamic notes of liquorice and mint. On the palate, it is juicy and refreshing, with the characteristic playful acidity of Sangiovese, velvety spice and charming fruity notes that linger right through to the finish. “Biskero” Chianti DOCG 2024 (BIO)
Anyone who thinks of Chianti as a classic in a straw basket is not historically wrong – but is wrong when it comes to the reality of one of Italy's most diverse wine denominations. Today, Chianti DOCG covers a huge area in Tuscany that stretches from Florence to Siena and includes seven subzones: Colli Senesi, Colli Fiorentini, Rufina, Montalbano, Montespertoli, Colli Aretini – and the heart, Chianti Classico, which has long had its own DOCG. What remains is a denomination with great geographical breadth that reflects the Tuscan hinterland – and where, if you are serious about it, you can make fascinatingly honest wines, today even without Fiasco Classico.

Lambrusco Metodo Ancestrale dell’Emilia IGT secco
In the 19th century, this was the only method of sparkling Lambrusco: second fermentation in the bottle, yeast remains in the bottle, no retaking, no correction (pet-nat method). Albinea Canali has never given up on it. The result is a little different every time – and that's exactly the point. Lambrusco Grasparossa as a base, steel tank for the first fermentation, then bottle. The fine lees of the yeast soften the structure and give the bouquet those characteristic brioche notes that no Charmat process can produce.

Chianti Colli Senesi DOCG 2024
Far from the fame of the Vino Nobile vineyards, this Chianti was created in the "Pozzi" vineyards, where Federico Carletti ventured an oenological experiment. At an altitude of 350 to 450 metres, with a view of the famous San Biagio church, densely planted Sangiovese vines thrive on stony clay soils of almost skeletal permeability. Ninety-five per cent Sangiovese blends with five per cent other Tuscan varieties to create a Chianti of uncompromising authenticity. Six months in stainless steel preserve the youthful freshness of this DOCG composition, which Federico deliberately conceived as an alternative to modern velvet gloves.

!["PIRIA" Lambrusco di Sorbara DOC 2025 secco]()
“PIRIA” Lambrusco di Sorbara DOC 2025 secco
Bright ruby red. On the nose, a small basket of red berries and cherries, with delicate floral notes of violets. Quite full-bodied, very dry with subtle fruit and an extremely fine, sparkling mousse; has a long finish and is very finely balanced. The winery recommended it with tortellini in brodo – and we can only agree – a perfect match. SUPERIORE.DE

!["BIANCO" Frizzante dell'Emilia IGT 2025 secco]()
“BIANCO” Frizzante dell’Emilia IGT 2025 secco
A rare cuvée made from Sorbara and Trebbiano vinified as white wines. Delicately floral on the nose, with notes of violets, pears and citrus; lively and fresh. Delicately creamy on the palate, it fills the mouth beautifully; pears and citrus notes return, dancing delightfully across the tongue with fine bubbles, and it lingers for quite a while with good freshness. Excellent as an aperitif or paired with fish starters. SUPERIORE.DE

!["San Benedetto" Lugana DOC 2025]()
“San Benedetto” Lugana DOC 2025
No winery has characterised Lugana like Zenato. When Sergio Zenato started out in San Benedetto di Lugana in 1960, the appellation was a sleepy corner on the southern shore of Lake Garda. Today, the family winery owns 70 hectares of the best vineyards – a tenth of the entire DOC. The Trebbiano di Lugana grape variety, also known as Turbiana, is rooted here on clayey moraine soils between Peschiera and Desenzano. DNA analyses suggest a relationship with Verdicchio – a debate that is causing a stir among ampelographers. One thing is certain: The 30-year-old vines produce grapes of remarkable complexity. Hand-picked at the end of September, gently pressed, fermented at 16–18°C in stainless steel.
